Flapping Of Wings

Summary: Random bonus scenes from It Takes Two Wings To Fly, mostly from the moment Eren and Levi reunited onward. Fluff, fun, slight non graphic smut, occasional angst, short. Not in chronological order.

9. Homecoming

Neither Levi nor Eren could imagine how they would be greeted upon setting foot on Paradis island again after their roles in the war, in the Battle of Heaven and Earth, but the people's reaction when they recognized them was not something they could have even hoped for. The thunderous applause and the deafening cheers nearly had them falling off of Isabel and Erwin as their names were chanted in a mess of voices and whistles.

The homecoming was unplanned. They had simply followed Historia and the others because they still had to check whether the shining centipedes that had started the whole Titan mess was indeed dead or if it had hidden inside Eren's (old) skull. But the second someone had seen the Wings of Freedom on Levi's all too recognizable green cloak and the second someone peered under both of their hoods, they were recognized, their names were passed through the streets and a huge mass of people gathered. They had stared at them for an uncomfortably long moment of dead silence before Hisotira had boldly yanked off both their hoods and declared a welcome to Paradis' two greatest heroes and protectors and the crowds just started cheering. It was surreal, as it reminded both men of that time they had returned from Shiganshina, victorious yet having lost more than ever before.

Their friends stood by them through it all, threw arms around their shoulders and just let them soak it all in, let it register that they were home again. Let them breathe in the air of Paradis that was unique to the island. Let them soak up the sun that shined on them all brighter now that the threat of war and annihilation no longer hung over them. They even helped them discreetly wipe away their tears so no one would see just how overwhelmed they both were to see the world they had sacrificed so much for once again, the people welcoming them despite all the things they had done.

Despite them both still wishing fervently to go and explore more of the world, for now, it was good to be home.
