Kirk was studying the next upgrade Scotty wanted to do to the ship when his comm chirped:

"Uhura to Captain Kirk."

"Kirk here. What's up Uhura?"

"I'm really sorry to disturb you, but… I'm ashamed to say it."

"Don't, Uhura. What?"

"Well, I've got some communications in Klingon that neither I nor the translator can decipher. Can I send you the file, captain?"

"I'll be right there in five, your console has better equipment for it."

"But you are not supposed to be working! Doctor McCoy will have my head if he finds out."

"Naaa, his bark is worse than his bite. Five minutes. Kirk out."

STSTSTSTSTTSSTSTSTTSTS

True to his word, the captain entered the Bridge less than five minutes from the call.

He was wearing an amazing Vulcan robe, a pale blue completely in tone with his eyes, a gift from Spock Prime.

Sulu immediately left the Chair, announcing the classic "Captain on the Bridge".

"Don't worry Sulu, not here as Captain, you have the conn, I'm here just to help Uhura. So, let's listen to this conversation."

Uhura and Kirk were so absorbed in their task that they didn't notice the look of the rest of the crew.

It was interesting listening to Kirk talking in Klingon, something the crew didn't know about.

He was trying to explain to Uhura the conversation was in an old Klingon dialect not many knew about and showed her the differences.

After a while, the captain noticed the Bridge was quieter than usual and moved to face his crew.

"Sooo, is there something wrong? Even when Commander Spock is on the Bridge you guys are not so quiet."

A couple of female junior officers started to giggle, sharing weird looks. Opening his arms like in surrender, Jim asked his helmsman:

"Hikaru, what's wrong? Am I such a whale you need to make fun of me?"

"Oh my, Captain. It's not that!" The first woman replied fast.

"Then what is it!"

"Well, how can I say that… but first, you are not in uniform and I think we never saw you in civilians, and you are incredible in that robe." She looked at her co-worker for support.

"Secondly, we didn't know you used real glasses, we never saw a pair."

Ashamed, the young man took off the offending object from his face.

"Oh damn I forgot I was reading, I'm never going to hear the end of this."

"No! Captain, you are mistaken! You are amazing with the glasses on! They give you a more powerful aura! Don't be ashamed! We would never make fun of you in any case." The woman promptly replied, terrified to make her superior uncomfortable.

Uhura cleared her throat to get the attention.

"Sir, you look a lot better than three months ago, and we are happy about this."

"Thanks, everybody. I appreciate it."

Touching his belly, he then added: "And the babies appreciate too. They just kicked."

A loud laugh erupted on the Bridge, softening the atmosphere.

Turning back to the communication, Uhura and Kirk kept working for some time.

The pair agreed to notify the Admiralty about their discovery. To Jim's displeasure, Nogura called back, demanding an explanation.

The captain dressed himself back in uniform to take the call, knowing that Admiral Nogura was annoying about protocol.

"So let me get this straight. Our best communication officer and the translator didn't get the conversation correct, but you did. How is that even possible? You are just a spoiled brat with no brain, I have no idea why the others can't see that. Also, you are telling me that the conversation was about the attack you got weeks ago? How convenient for you."

Kirk really wanted to put a hole in that brainless Admiral and tell him where to go.

Instead, he put up his best diplomatic face.

"You see, Admiral, if you would have at least looked at my curriculum from the Academy, you would see I passed my xenolinguistics exams with perfect scores. All my classes, actually. Did Winona tell you I was spoiled? Do you know how long was she at home during my childhood? One month in nine years. So she doesn't know anything."

It was hard for him to keep calm now that the storm was out, his bracelet vibrating constantly.

"And the asshole she left me with? You know right that he is serving 30 years for child abuse? They got him right after he and Winona sent me to her sister off-planet."

The Admiral was getting nervous and tried to speak again, in vain.

"Now shut up, I'm not done yet. I am soo tired of your bullshit. Do you know which planet I was sent off? Guess what, it was Tarsus IV. I hope a man like you knows what happened there. And guess what? I was there all along. All the damn time. I saw the crops failing, I saw people starting to starve, I heard the entire speech Kodos made."

He breathed deeply.

"On that planet, there was this nice old lady… Hoshi Sato. You should ask Admiral Archer who she was. By the way, I was under the name Davies if you want to check out my story. Look for a boy named JT. And talk to Admiral Pike, you will find his story quite interesting. I'm tired of being called George's kid. I am me, not my father. Kirk out."

He was closing the call when McCoy came into his ready room running.

"What the hell is going on here? I thought I told you to rest! Your stats are all over the roof." Tricorder already out scanning the man.

"All good, I gave piece of mind to Nogura. Mind you to help me back to my room, Bones? I'm really tired."

"I see that you are tired, you infant. Next time you talk with that idiot, call me at least. I don't want a heart attack because your bracelet goes crazy."

Supporting his back, Jim got up from the chair, with little help from the doctor. Arm in arm with his best friend, the two arrived in his quarter easily, where the doctor put his friend in bed.
