The silver silhouette of garage bay 5 glimmered against the dwindling darkness as the moon began to hide. The darkest hours of night befalling over the heartbroken woman who was frantically working at finding the 'lost' AI on her computer. Every ping or probe returning with nothingness. Not a single answer, a response of any sort or kind. Silence.

Bonnie's eyes were swollen red from the strain of staring at the screens in the dark garage bay and crying her eyes out throughout the entirety of the night. Her wrist burning madly from all the typing, pulling…turning. It was terrifying to think Kitt was gone forever. What had been a small creature held within a mainframe that had grown and traveled alongside his human driver…had vanished in a single night.

Now the early rays of dawn gently tucked her in. She was slumped over her terminal, asleep with Kitt's remains connected idly in her dark workspace. Small hums of electricity escaped the unit ever so often while it gathered power from the outlet. It was no use…it was over…they'd lost…she didn't think she could continue anymore…the truth hitting her like tons of metallic chains holding her tight to the ground…Kitt was dead.

She mumbled a little as a rumble of an incoming vehicle roared beyond the garage. The engine died off as the sound of doors slamming shut echoed outside. She opened a singular eye staring into the dark and empty garage with pity. Wondering how long the garage would remain empty…she reckoned perhaps…forever. The door to the garage bay slammed open, RC covered in a night's worth of soil, brushing his jeans off as he approached her hastily.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He snapped from the doorway. Bonnie shrugged in dismay.

"I never wanted it to end this way." She croaked, keeping her head resting against the terminal. Closing her eyes and hoping the ground could swallow her up there and now.

"Yeah, well all these years we assumed Kitt was roaming the country alone. Not this… other car…" RC exclaimed, switching the lights on in the bay, blinding Bonnie momentarily as she peered into the changed atmosphere. "Oh," RC cut in over Bonnie's aching head, the man catching sight of what Kitt had inhabited his entire life. He knew what it clearly was…having had the chance before to sneak a peek when he'd assisted Bonnie in repairing Kitt several years ago when circumstances had been much favorable. "They — I — Sorry, Bonnie." RC stuttered with remorse. His gaze fixed on the lifeless CPU casing flickering absentmindedly to itself. "I was under the impression they hadn't given you Kitt's remains yet." He remarked heartbrokenly.

Bonnie sighed, letting out a low whimper. Standing up she tossed some tools into her toolbox, tools that had proved useless in reviving the vanished machine. Walking past RC who painstakingly was hesitating to find the right words to comfort another broken heart.

" — where?" Was all he managed facing Bonnie who'd appeared to be dragging herself out the door.

"Sleep, to sleep." She kept walking.

"What about the other car? The two-toned Trans-Am waiting for you outside on the tow?"

"RC there isn't anything we can do anymore!" Bonnie shouted, swinging her arms into the air. "I made a mistake! I shouldn't have ever —!"

"That isn't grateful."

"What?!" Bonnie screeched, turning to him in alarm. How dare he accuse her of not being grateful! She was MORE than grateful that Karr had taken care of her dearest Kitt all these years!

RC rolled his eyes.

"Car or whatever…has been babysitting Kitt for the past two years, don't you think we owe those pair of wheels a mention of thanks?"

Bonnie's jaw dropped.

"I can't believe this, you're worried about Karr?!"

She wouldn't have ever thought that RC would find empathy towards Karr, to begin with. The AI had a bad reputation…surely no one was generous enough to give Karr any slack…, especially Devon.

RC shrugged.

"I don't know but seems to me the guy was relying on you to help." He anxiously scratched the back of his head.

"And whys that RC?" Bonnie crossed her arms leaning against the door frame, yawning. Finding it amusing that RC was also starting to make space for the rogue AI in his heart.

"He asked for help."

Bonnie's face drooped.

Kitt had always been the one who'd asked for her, in all his times of need…Over the years this response had created a maternal affection to grow within herself. If Kitt was hurt she'd find herself agonizing over it too. She'd come to understand that it wasn't always Michael's fault when Kitt came home bruised and injured…it was simply the nature of the job…either way she'd come to the rescue no matter the cost to get the computer up and running again to full speed. It was always a merry moment when she'd cast Kitt back into action…stronger and better than ever. Even despite those moments…she lived for the ones when he came back with success along with Michael…the moments when the two came home safe and sound and she could gather her boys in her arms with love.

Now with Kitt forever gone, her heart was at pieces…unable to repair her dearest Firebird…yet…she felt the pound of her heart ring loudly in her ears… somebody else was being submitted to immense pain and injury just outside the garage. Asking for her tender love and care equally as much.

She glanced over her shoulders noting the dim blue glow of light just running across the border between the sky and horizon. Making instinctive mental calculations of what she might need for the job.

RC was right. Karr needed her. The two-toned t-top had spent most of his life fleeing and keeping Kitt from harm, certainly, he deserved better. Karr had done his very best to satisfy her and had done his job above expectations for several years. He might not have been her first dearest AI but she certainly could make room in her heart for another.

She faced RC who was still standing inside the bay awaiting her response. She cleared her throat, rubbing away the tears from her cheeks. The cool morning breeze rose and waved her loose and tangled hair to a gentle sway.

"In that case…will you help me with Karr?"

Karr was a wreck…

Bonnie was having trouble peeling several body panels away from his deformed and lesioned body. Several components were deeply embedded into one another, creating havoc upon system after system. The transmission was in a poor condition and Karr would be needing another. It was clear she'd have to rebuild some things from the ground up…unfortunately she didn't have the needed materials to recreate the formula for the MBS but she figured she could put Karr back into a rebuilt version of himself enough to allow Karr some mobility.

"What did the doctors say?" Karr interrupted her as she peeled away the rubber off of his wheels noting with disgust that the hub caps had been completely obliterated by the bullets. Without the MBS Karr had been literally eaten alive by the live rounds.

"He's doing better." RC cut in, hauling Karr's prow off the chassis to examine the components housed beneath. Gently brushing off segments from the deteriorated scanner…yep he was going to need a new one as well. "As per usual he's anxious to get out of bed and giving the doctors all a run for their money…" RC chuckled, glancing over to the small portable tv set that Karr was currently housed in.

In all honesty, despite the upsetting stance and height — he felt comfortable. Not having several malfunctioning systems blaring at him all at once was very relieving. Though he felt a little on edge given the fact his scanner wasn't attached and he was constantly "sniffing" the vicinity with his limited abilities afraid to be pounced on at any given moment. His internal fan spun away quickly as it kept up with his constant surveillance.

"Does he know about Kitt?" Karr asked curiously as he watched RC poke what Karr knew was his radiator. "Hey, hands off…!" Karr growled, as he watched liquid pool from a cavity created on the surface.

RC released the radiator giving Karr's boxy housing an eye roll.

"How then, do you expect me to fix it up if I don't remove it?" He asked with a hint of sass.

Karr laughed letting his static consume his modulator.

"Good point. Carry on…but careful!" He scolded. Perhaps his pieces were going to be scrapped but that didn't mean they didn't deserve respect when it came to disposing of them.

RC shrugged hauling the dented part off to the side.

Bonnie who was still examining the broken center disk of Karr's left tire, glanced over to Karr's dark voice modulator.

"He doesn't know." She mumbled nervously, getting back to business. There wasn't much they could salvage from the tires.

"Great—" Karr groaned. "Would make my job a whole lot easier if you told him…"

Bonnie bit her lip.

"Karr, I've done a thorough examination. Kitt isn't…there isn't anything left."

"I refuse to believe that." He countered.

Bonnie glared over her shoulder, eyeing Karr's voice modulator with frustration.

"Even RC searched the place…there isn't —"

"I refuse to believe that too," Karr grumbled. "I need more solid proof than that…"

Bonnie set her tools aside standing up and glowering at Karr's temporary housing. She was done with this conversation.

"What more do you want from me?!" She shouted angrily, feeling guilt pinch her throat as Karr responded in a polite manner.

"Nothing," Karr smoothly replied attempting to calm the angered woman. "I understand all of you believe he's dead…but I simply will NEVER accept that…Not until I get my figurative hands on the buffoon who took him away…" Karr instinctively revving his now non-existent v8. "Goodness —" He interrupted himself, almost sure he could feel the purr of the engine…it was as if he could still feel the chassis around him despite clearly being extracted from it. It felt…strange… 'Ugh!' How he wished the repairs could be completed sooner he felt so powerless. "I'm so pathetic." He mused, glancing over to RC who was holding in a huge laugh as he fiddled with his damaged engine block. The man shuddered unnaturally as the laugh turned into a dry cough. Karr internally "rolled his eyes". "What I'm simply trying to say…is I won't give up the fight just yet…This "Margo" Isn't going to stand a chance when you're done with me."

Bonnie's eyes widened as her mouth formed a huge O. RC froze in place as the cold name screeched in his ears. He recognized the name…but not as much as Bonnie apparently…who seemed utterly unnerved.

" — Margo…but who?" Bonnie tripped over her own words, letting go of the tire she was examining and bringing all her attention to Karr's housing.

"Kitt broadcasted his last message at exactly 3:45 AM…telling me that someone by the name of Margo had captured him. I'd appreciate it if you did a quick search in your databanks for the name…" Karr instructed calmly. "If we are quick we can probably get a trace on the helicopter too…"

"Margo is dead…" Bonnie gasped.

Karr internally frowned.

"What in the world do you even mean? Is the whole world dead for you at this point?" Karr contemplated.

Bonnie shook her head.

"The Margo I know is dead…not sure about this one…" She turned several hues of white…Karr wondered if that was normal. Taking an internal deep breath while he pulled his thoughts together and thought over what he was about to do. "I have a voice sample from the incident if that at all helps," Karr remarked nervously.

Bonnie turned to RC who had his arms crossed. Letting out a short yawn. This was all unraveling rather unexpectedly.

"Let's hear it," Bonnie commanded crowding Karr's housing and making the AI a tad bit uncomfortable. RC crowded Karr's portable unit just as well, the two humans staring expectantly at Karr's dark voice modulator…awaiting the final revelation — Karr unhesitantly giving them the sound byte, he figured the sooner he did so the sooner they'd step away from him to work on his chassis and that didn't sound like a bad idea.

"Where's the box?" Karr internally jumped as the voices of that night pierced his speakers…trembling at the thought of the true damage they could have done to him if they would have been aware he was still alive.

"Get in and look for it."

"The thing could explode and you want me to get in?!"

"What's the holdup?" A third voice, a woman's voice shook the room the moment it fell over Bonnie's ears, Karr noting her discomfort as the recording continued. "Where's the Knight 2000?" The woman's voice shouted over the whirr of a helicopter sounding in the backdrop of the recording, RC squinting over Karr's boxed form...shuffling from foot to foot anxiously.

"It's not here." One of the previous voices whispered. RC shuddered ever so slightly as the voices continued to speak, the sound of something jingling in their hands making him a little concerned.

"Well, it's got to be here. Go back and retrace its steps...might have dropped it in the sand. Make sure you do it on foot! I don't want your incompetence to run it over!" The woman snapped, her footsteps dissipating into soft pats over the partially wet sand as Karr began to fade the recording and recollected everything into his memory banks.

His voice modulator flickered to darkness as he ended playing the last of the sound byte. He hoped the two had heard everything correctly, he wasn't too eager to replay it over for himself to recall the nauseating feeling of being destroyed.

Bonnie's face was as white as a sheet now…yes…she'd probably have to get her face looked at. As far as he was aware humans weren't supposed to have primer beneath their skin.

" — but how…" She trailed off.

"Never mind how," Karr fussed. "This isn't the last they're going to remember of me…"

Bonnie glanced over to RC.

"Didn't you say she died falling to her death in a Semi?" RC asked, scratching his chin.

"Yes! How would she be involved with the government in retrieving Kitt then?! If she's supposed to be dead!?"

"Did they ever search the site?" RC asked puzzled, " – You know recover the remains?"

Bonnie shrugged.

" – I. I don't know!"

"So there it is…" Karr mused proudly. "My hole in one…"

Bonnie glanced over to RC the two wondering what Karr was fussing about now.

"It'd be very kind of you two if I was taken to Michael Knight. If no one dares break the news to him, I wouldn't mind approaching this topic."

Bonnie rolled her eyes, her head pounding in utter bewilderment.

"None of this makes sense. Phineas Roth brought us the remains and even provided legal documents of Kitt's euthanization."

"I'm sure Michael will be pleased to give the man a visit." Karr mischievously "smiled."

RC chuckled.

"Karr, the man can hardly walk…let alone drive."

"He won't have to, not if Bonnie fixes me on time," Karr remarked excitedly. "Just let me plead my case… it's the least I ask of you, I won't dare let them hurt my brother." Karr strongly continued.

Bonnie and RC exchanged worried glances. They weren't sure how Michael would react to having Karr show up out of nowhere telling him he'd been in a coma for several years only to find that Kitt was on the wanted list to be euthanized…and Karr wanting to find his lost brother. Bonnie internally cringed. No…Karr was wrong…Kitt was dead…or maybe he wasn't?

Bonnie strode away from RC and Karr abruptly, shoving the garage side door forcefully open and strolling instinctively to the gardens on the property. Taking in the fresh breeze in contrast to the stale air trapped inside the garage. RC and Karr kept in silence as she slowly retreated further and further from the garage bay.

"Well?" Karr asked RC after a while. "You're the human with human knowledge. Go after her for crying out loud!"

RC shrugged, giving Karr an annoyed look.

"Speak for yourself, man. Why can't you go — don't answer that question." RC shoved his hands into his pockets, wishing he could send Karr after her instead…it was just so – difficult to find the right words. He wished he had a plethora of words or databank that could easily heal a broken heart…

"I would if I could…but clearly she needs to hear something from you…, not me." Karr mused over. "Surely she won't attack you if you are to approach her like this, yes? Doctor Barstow isn't that vicious from what I understand."

"Not unless you get between her and her baby."

" — Baby? She doesn't even have a spouse let alone an offspring!"

" — Kitt." RC grinned.

Karr remained quiet.

"You know I can see why you'd be afraid…"

"What? I'm not afraid of her!" RC protested his grin vanishing.

"Then go talk to her…she clearly needs some support RC. Come on…wouldn't she comfort you too if you needed it?" Karr responded with a very smooth and fond voice that surprised RC to the point he was convinced Karr was malfunctioning.

"Uh…"

" — RC I have a heart too… it's electrical but a heart nevertheless now stop slacking and help your friend."

She needed time to process what was going on…She missed Kitt dearly and…there was a possibility that Kitt was dead anyways…even if Margo was alive and had seized the AI — she too could have decided to do away with the computer just as the government had wanted…even though it didn't add up. What would she want with Kitt this time?

Bonnie took a seat on a bench beneath the shade of a large old oak tree. The rays of the morning sun shone down and filtered through the leaves making them shine bright green. Hiding her face in her hands as she let the tears roll off her cheeks. The breeze gently pushed these aside for her as several more followed. It wasn't fair…Kitt was meant to save people and had done his job the best he could with the limited resources he had at hand at the time of the incident…why then did the government have to take it out on the grieving AI? Kitt was already devastated as it was. Why did Margo have to be added to the combination? Now they had to watch out for not only the government but also Margo Adrianne who was most likely wandering the country with an AI up for sale…Could it all have been a cover-up? Could it be possible that the government had hired her to acquire Kitt for their own entertainment?

"Bonnie, You alright?"

She immediately tried to perk up, brushing her messy hair aside and gazing over the reflective pool of water before her.

"Yeah, I'm fine —" She swallowed hard. "I just needed some air —"

RC took a deep breath before taking a seat next to her.

"It's wild, isn't it? Even I'm having a hard time believing it all, but Karr sounds pretty convinced."

Bonnie nodded, keeping her gaze focused on the pond.

"It doesn't make it true though, he could have been malfunctioning and he simply heard…"

" — I think someone is afraid…and that may include me." RC raised his brows. "What are you afraid of Bonnie?" RC asked offering her a welcoming voice.

Bonnie shrugged.

"I don't know…losing Michael maybe…Karr…hurting myself by finding out Kitt's been killed a second time." She clutched her stomach, feeling the tears coming.

"Bonnie don't be afraid." RC comforted. "I think – we should do something and find Kitt, if he really is alive don't you want to save him?" RC asked sounding a bit puzzled that she wouldn't have jumped to this conclusion sooner.

"That's the thing —" Bonnie answered promptly. "I DO want to save him, the thing is…what if there isn't anything to save now?" She trembled. What if there was just another broken-down CPU out there with Kitt installed in it, destroyed and burnt to a crisp? What if they'd run out of time? She wasn't sure she'd recover from that…a second time would be too much.

"We're here for you Bonnie," RC offered her his hand to squeeze but she kept her arms tightly wrapped around herself.

"I know." She smiled faintly. "I just…I don't know what to do from here…you know?" She looked over to RC who was now smiling widely.

"Well, that's always been Michael's department…"

Bonnie laughed.

"Yes, but…I'm also afraid about how he's going to take this…You know he isn't strong enough to get out of bed yet."

RC raised his brows.

"Knowing Michael he's going to side with looking for Kitt no matter the cost and keeping him in his bed is going to be impossible either way. Honestly, I think he and Karr are going to get along just fine."

Bonnie gave RC a fond smile, she was glad he'd stayed with them despite FLAG having been hit with hard times. She was aware RC had been offered other job opportunities and he'd dismissed them all the last two years even if their main operatives had been out of action for a very long time.

"Thank you, RC."

"No problem."
