I'll be honest...
Idk if I can finish this fic cause, between the lack of proper transcripts and the fact that Nate is tied down to Vox Machina writing this is pretty suffocating.
Making an oc that exists in the world but lives and travels separately from Vox Machina would make things a lot easier and more fun for me because it means a more unique storyline with little copy pasted from the show while still following the same plot.
Maybe I'll make something like that later. Like maybe Cleric X Warlock chaotic couple whose patrons are bitter enemies. The two hate each other at first though. That seems like a good idea.
Or maybe not. Idk.
Anyways, enjoy.

Dragons. They were staples of fantasy. The most iconic mythical beasts and usually the strongest, standing at the apex of the food chain.
And there was a chance they were about to fight one or something close.
"That is if that lizard was the one doing all of this." Nate whispered to himself.
He didn't want to say anything about the possible dragon. It was irrational, but he didn't want to deal with being wrong even with the others in his group. He didn't want to feel more horrible than he already is.
So he just decided to prepare something for the worst case scenario.
"Da fuck is that?" Asked Grog in confusion as he stared at a goblin wearing a Santa outfit and holding a large sack.
"Santa goblin. I made him because I thought, y'know, goblins are greedy and they steal gold. This one steals presents." Said Nate dejectedly. "Turns out I just reinvented the Grinch."
Pike and Grog stared at the shadowy figure of Nate in confusion.
"What's a Grinch?" Asked Grog in confusion.
"And what's a Santa?" Added Pike in similar confusion.
Nate's shoulders dropped in front of the two questions. "I'm not explaining Christmas."
Before one of the two could ask what Christmas was, a mother approached Pike.
"You're a priest of sorts, aren't you?" Said the mother. "Could you bless our house, protect it from this evil."
Pike awkwardly smiled as she stared at the mother. "Uhh, a-a blessing? Yeah yeah yeah, sure. No problem." She said nervously. "May the Everlight shine upon your home. Everything will be tip-top. Okay. I'm sure you'll survive these trying times, so, good luck?
"Are you sure you're a holy person?" Asked the mother's husband.
"Yeah, I'm-i'm just out of practice." Replied Pike awkwardly. "I just don't bless a lot of houses these days."
As the mother thanked Pike, her daughter approached Nate curiously.
"Woah! I've never seen anyone like you!" Asked the girl staring at Nate's shadowy complexion.
Time froze and the world turned gray, prompting Nate to roll a d20 before getting a 17.
"Uhh, I guess?" Replied Nate not knowing how to react as time started moving again.
"Is that weird goblin your friend?" Asked the girl pointing towards the Santa goblin dancing in the background.
Nate paused before crouching down to the girl's level. This was the least he could do considering the danger this family was in.
"Yeah...he is." Said Nate cheerfully. "He brings laughter and joy wherever he goes with his cheery laughter."
"I thought he stole gifts from peop-" Pike tried to say before Nate glared at her causing her to realize what he was doing. "I mean, yeah! He comes bearing joy!"
The girl giggled before noticing her brother with Vax and approaching them.
"I know I should've asked this earlier, but why did you make that goblin?" Asked Pike raising a brow.
Nate avoided eye contact. "It might help us later." He said before walking away.
As Nate walked away from Pike, he heard the children talking about their enemy.
What Nate got from the conversation was that it was a big flying monster. Nate's arms shook.
His anxiety grew. It grew so much he didn't notice all his dice glowing in their pouch.

"So...that thing knocked down this tree?" Asked Nate staring at the tree.
"Seems like it." Replied Pike calmly.
The group travelled away from the family and to where the children pointed, leading them to a fallen tree.
"Get over here." Said Vex. "Trinket found something but it looks like it..flew away- NATE, OPEN YOUR MAP!"
Nate immediately responded and opened his map to see the evil lizard heading to their location at immense speeds.
"No no no no no! It's coming!"
Vox Machina prepared for the fight as they heard a rustle from a nearby bush. The atmosphere was so tense it was suffocating.
Until a sheep jumped out of the bush, causing Grog to laugh for a few seconds before the sheep was crushed by a dragon.
A dragon.
Nate shook as he stared at the massive figure of the beast.
"Oh fuck! Oh fuck" Exclaimed Scanlan in a panic.
Before anyone else could move a muscle, the dragon breathed lightning upon Vox Machina.
Nate froze in fear as the ground shook beneath him from the approaching attack.
He couldn't dodge it.
"Move god damnit!" Yelled Percy pulling Nate away from danger and into a hiding place.
As the sound of thunder faded, Nate stared at the destruction that followed that blast. It was terrifying.
"I suggest we run!" Exclaimed Percy. "RIGHT NOW!"
"Fuck that! We fight!" Replied Grog before dashing towards the behemoth they were against.
"Grog, you dumb brave asshole!" Exclaimed Vax before Grog got slammed away nonchalantly by the dragon.
Nate was scared. Even their strongest just got slapped away like nothing. Could he even help?
"No." He shook his head. "Even if I can't do anything, the goblin is still hiding somewhere around here."
Deciding to put his fate in the Santa goblin, Nate rolled a d12 and getting an eleven.
The results appeared quickly as the ground beneath the dragon started crumbling, turning into a sink hole.
The dragon replied by simply flying above the large hole.
"In hindsight, yeah that was pretty stupid." Nate whispered as he had to dodge another blast of lightning.
He managed to reach the others and Keyleth who was taking her time using magic before the sky darkened and a bolt of lightning slammed into the dragon...
Doing practically nothing.
"Did I just make it worse-" Keyleth couldn't finish before the dragon fired another blast.
Keyleth, in a panic, made a shield of vines to protect them, but the shield only stood for a few seconds.
A few vital seconds.
The blast pierced through the shield and hit them directly and even destroyed the cliff behind them, dropping several boulders on top of them.
The dragon flashed a sadistic smile as it believed it's enemies dead before flying away.
But little did it know that a certain goblin protected them.
Away from the battlefield where Vox Machina fought the dragon, the Santa goblin giggled as put the sack it was holding over its shoulder onto the ground.
The sack opened and several people flew out from inside the sack. They were vox machina and they were alive.
"What the hell happened?" Asked Vex in confusion.
"The Santa goblin!" Exclaimed Pike seeing the familiar goblin.
"Infinite bag, very fast." Said Nate as he tried not to vomit from fear.
"...we almost died." Said Keyleth in fear.
"But we didn't, thanks to you and Nate." Said Pike with a smile. "That goblin would've died with us if you weren't there."
The words seemed to comfort Keyleth and get her to stand again.
Meanwhile, Nate sat alone under a tree trying to process what had just happened.
He nearly died...AGAIN. The thought sent shivers down his spine. Tears fell down his face as the reality of this world set itself in his mind.
"All right, fսck Uriel and all of this, we're done here." Said Vax angrily. "We didn't sign up for certain death."
"Must I remind you that we gave our word-"
Nate didn't listen any further. He covered his ears and closed his eyes, trying his best to not hear, see or deal with anything else.

Eventually, Grog was tasked with escorting the unresponsive Nate over his shoulder as the group left deciding not to set foot in Emon again.
They headed out of the forest and back from where they arrived.
This led them to the house of the family from before. The house that was now in pieces because of the dragon.
Vax saw the scene and dashed towards the ruined house as Nate opened his senses once more to see what happened.
He saw the girl that approached him from before, her mother and father, all dead.
He felt a pang of guilt hit him.
He was the one with the magic dice and the power to make sinkholes, yet he couldn't do a thing and this innocent family payed the price.
Anger filled his mind at this unfair world as he clenched his fists.
"We could've stopped this. Should have.." He heard Vax say before the sound of Scanlan adjusting his instrument was heard. "What the hell are you doing, Scanlan? Thinking of a rhyme for 'dead dragon'."
Scanlan sighed. "Cause I...I guess we're killing one."
"I'm in!" Exclaimed Keyleth. "Uh, I mean I'm not gonna lie, I'm terrified out of my mind. But I'm in."
"I don't like losin'." Added Grog in a serious tone. "But now I'm feeling things on the inside, they don't feel right. So yeah, I'm with ya."
"That was... actually well stated, Grog." Said Percy in amazement.
"What was?" Asked Grog in confusion.
"Nevermind, count me in as well." Replied Percy calmly. "Nate?"
Nate didn't respond and instead summoned every monster he had in the bag. Each of them looked ready to do this.
"I'll make more on the way." Nate replied angrily.
Vex stared at her friends in shock. "You guys... we're doing this." She said. "You all realize we're going to die a truly horrible death."
"Perhaps sister." Replied Vax in a serious tone. "But we'll die gloriously, and we'll kill a fսcking dragon."
