Opening her eyes, she sees the Moon shining in through the window. She's starving and she knows the Kwarmi are too. But she doesn't, not can't, get out of Adrien's bed just yet. Taking the picture of them two from her bag, she strokes his face and sighs. Will it ever get any easier? She knows it's only been a few months, but the pain is still as strong as the day he died.

"Oh Kitty, you should have knocked me aside, or knocked him, or just let me die. It's unfair of you to make me live without you." Hugging the picture, she closes her eyes and imagines him climbing into bed and wrapping his arms around her while she cries.

The next time she opens her eyes, the sun's out and her phone has several missed calls from her Maman. Sighing, she shoots her a quick text, saying she's alive and just fell asleep. She'll be home later.

Now she's really hungry. She considers ordering take-away to Adrien's house, but that might be a bit weird. Getting up, she opens Adrien's closet, hoping he still has some food hidden in it for when he was hungry. He was on a strict diet because of his modelling career, and they wouldn't let him eat after 10pm. So, he hid food in his closet so he could have something to eat after 10pm.

Inside are some granola bars, dry cereal, cookies, chips, chocolate. Throwing some cookies and chips to the Kwarmi's, she grabs the rest and sits at Adrien's desk to eat. He always hated crumbs in his bed, even though he was the one who caused them.

Turning on the computer, she scrolls through his messages and posts on his wall. A lot of condolences, messages of loss, sadness, goodbyes, you'll be missed. A few messages about how they never knew he could ever be Cat Noir, but Ladybug would never lie. Careful not to leave any messages on read, she closes the window and goes to the Ladyblog. Mostly the same things, with a few for Ladybug.

Throughout this whole mess, not one person has asked Ladybug how she feels, how she's doing. She's just lost her partner, her best friend! Monarch killed him, saving her! It's about Adrien, this is all about him, but it's strange no one's asked her. She hates to admit it, but sometimes she wonders if the city blames her. If they think it's her fault he died, if she should have tried harder to save him. She does. Guilt is the reason she can't move on. Guilt that she made him do it, even though he knew they weren't ready. Guilt she never let him tell anyone they were engaged. Guilt that no one knew LadyNoir was a thing, finally. And most of all, guilt at surviving when he did not.

Closing the Ladyblog, she tosses the rest of the food to the Kwarmi's and climbs back into bed, suddenly exhausted again. Laying the picture on Adrien's pillow, she closes her eyes once more, and not for the first time, wishes she doesn't wake up.

"Marinette, Marinette! There's someone at the door." Tikki yells into her ear as she smacks her on the face.

Jerking awake, Marinette blinks and looks around. The sun has gone down, but the Moon has not come up yet. Turning on the bedside lamp, she could indeed hear someone knocking. Getting up, she fixes her hair and uses her phone to light her way downstairs. Hesitating, she opens the door to reveal a man in a suit, a lawyer?

"Hello, are you Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" He asks, as he looks into the dark house behind her.

"… Yes." She says, after hesitating once more.

"I have a parcel for you. It's from Adrien Agreste. When he came to me to change his will, he asked me to give you this video as well. Since you weren't at the will read, I couldn't give it to you. And they forbid me to give it to anyone else but you." He sighs, as he holds out a small box.

"How'd you know I was here?" She asks, as she looks down at the box.

"Mr Agreste said you would show up here." Handing her the box, he just walks away. "By the way, he really did love you. I never seen such devotion in one so young. I have never believed in love before. But, he, he made me believe in it." Then he steps into the darkness and is gone, leaving behind a bewildered Marinette.

"Kitty…" She whispers, as she slowly closes the door, sliding to the floor.

"What's in the box?" A voice says from the darkness, making her jump.

"Sorry." Tikki turns on a lamp and floats over to her.

"A video, I think." She frowns as she opens the box. Inside is a blue scarf with little ladybugs and black cats all over it, and a matching hat on top. Pulling out the scarf, she realises it's the one she had made for Adrien when they were 14. He had made a hat that matches the scarf, while adding Ladybug and Cats to them. So, they were both of them. Inside the hat is a sealed envelope addressed to her.

Walking back to Adrien's room, she sets the box on his bed, while she opens the envelope and pulls out a letter in Adrien's handwriting.

My Lady,

If you are reading this, then the worst thing has happened. I have died and you have survived. Although I'm truly happy you are alive, I'm sad that you must now live without me. I'm sorry if this is the case, I should have tried harder to convince you to not do it. No point with 'What Ifs' now. I knew you'd be here eventually, so I had this sent to you here. I hope you like the hat and scarf, they were supposed to be a Christmas present. But, when we decided to attack, I put together this parcel in case. If it makes you feel better, I made one for myself in case you died. And one for your parents in case we both died. I covered all my bases.
I know how you're feeling right now, I do. You feel guilty, angry, angry at me for leaving you, sad that you have to live alone. Please, please don't be, I'm happy you get to carry on. Because, I know you're strong enough. I… I would not be strong enough to live without you.. And I know you probably did something horrible to Monarch after he killed me. Don't regret it, don't feel guilt or feel like a monster. He deserved everything you gave him, and then some. He hadn't been a human being in a very long time, he was corrupt down to his very core. And please, don't feel guilty for me dying to save you. Because, I know that's how I died. It was my duty, my honour, to sacrifice myself for you. You are my soul mate, my one true love, I could never survive without you. I know, it's not fair. But, you have always been the strongest of us both.
I love you Marinette, Ladybug, My Lady, My Love.
Please, live your life for me, if nothing else, live the life I never will.
Always, your soul mate
Adrien, Kitty-Kat Agreste.

Dropping the letter onto her lap, Marinette buries her face in her hands, sobbing. "He knew, he knew he was going to die. He made plans for it! I never once thought of us dying, not once. I was so arrogant! He's wrong, it is my fault, all my fault!" Throwing the box and stuff to the floor, she collapses onto her pillow sobbing. As the Kwarmi's watch on unable to do anything to help.

Opening her eyes a few hours later, she notices the Kwarmi's curled up in Plaggs old bed. Rolling over she sees Adrien's letter and the box. Her first instinct is to rip it up and throw the box away, but she knows she'd regret it.

Grabbing a piece of paper that fell from the envelope she notices it's a link address. Picking up her phone, Tikki had kindly charged for her. She types in the address, and up pops a onedrive folder. In it, is 1000's of pictures of her and Adrien together since they were 14. Clicking on picture, she opens it and gasps, dropping her phone.
Looking down she sees the picture clearly, Adrien had gotten a photo of them made. It's them in wedding attire, him in a suit and her in the wedding dress, she'd been making since she was 10. It looks so life like, she isn't even sure if it's fake at all.

A video at the top with the title "Our life together!" caught her eyes. Clicking on it, a video montage of their life together since they were 14 plays. Even including clips and videos of Cat Noir and Ladybug, from first meeting to their first kiss and so on. Even a video of when he asked her to marry him, she didn't even know he was recording them. Of course, he also included the sex they had after. He really had planned everything out, just in case. She naively thought they'd go in, fight, defeat him, and get married. How stupid she was, truly stupid.

Closing the window, she throws her phone into the box and sets it with the letter on the floor and climbs back under the covers. She knows he meant it to help. But all it did was make her miss him more and want him back all the more. So much, it's almost unbearable.

"Oh Kitty… please come back… please… please!" Closing her eyes, she sobs herself to sleep once more.
