The Citadel

The Normandy arrived at the Citadel with Joker communicating with control. "Citadel control this is SSV – Normandy requesting permission to land."

"Stand by for clearance Normandy." Control ordered the Normandy. "Clearance granted, you may begin your approach transferring you to an alliance operator."

"Roger that, Normandy out." Joker replied.

"Normandy this is Alliance tower please proceed to dock 422."

The Normandy docked at it's assigned dock. After docking was completed. Nihlus, Anderson, Shepard, Jenkins, and Alenko left the Normandy and headed to the council chamber. They saw an older human male near the stand that was in front of the three councilors that makes it so that whoever speaks in front of them must look up at them. "Ah Shepard, Nihlus, Anderson." He greeted with a slight joy mixed with professionalism until he greeted Anderson who he addressed with coolness.

"Ambassador Udina, I take it we have a briefing with the council." Anderson stated.

"No just Specter Nihlus and Shepard, we have to discuss something private in my office Anderson."

"Of course, Ambassador." Anderson said. "Jenkins, Alenko follow me it's best that we allow Shepard and Nihlus to this on their own."

"Yes sir." They said following Udina out of the presidium.

Nihlus and Shepard approach the council. Nihlus stays behind Shepard as she faces the three councilors. Three races make up the council. An asari named Tevos, a salarian named Valern, and a turian named Sparatus. The three look at Shepard scrutinizing her. Shepard stands at attention to help cover her nervousness. "How was the retrieval of the artifact?" Tevos asked Shepard.

"The retrieval was a success and the locals have been told that the artifact has been sent to Sur'kesh." Shepard started to report. "Alliance is keeping guard and the locals will be compensated for their farms that they will be losing."

"Truth be honest I don't understand why the Alliance doesn't just take the farms in the name of service to the Alliance." Sparatus stated to Shepard hoping to rile her up.

"That won't be possible sir as the Alliance system requires by law that we compensate any landowner for his/her that is discovered to have Prothean ruins the value of his/her land times two." Shepard stated the law that was passed two years before the first contact war. "The Alliance military may be in high regard with its citizens but most Alliance citizens prefer if a government fairly compensates a family losing their farm land that they worked and toiled that dream of freedom to work the land and be free and open."

"That quality is helping the council establish settlements faster than any species before them." Valern stated simply.

"At a large risk to themselves and the council itself given that it's that characteristic that got them into war with the Batarians." Sparatus argued.

"Though the Batarians were highly aggressive to the point of being hostile to us and would no doubt separate from us eventually." Valern counter argued.

"Let's remained focus on the task at hand instead of debating the Skillian Blitz and why it happened." Tevos stepped in. "We will have a team of experts look over the artifact and we will be sending you out with Nilhlus for your assessment, dissmised."

"Thank you councelors." Shepard said heading for the human embassy.

Nihlus walks forward once Shepard is out of the Presidium. "It's best that we take this part more private." Spartus stated.

The four enter a private room wear the public will not hear them. "What is your impression of Shepard?" Spartus asked Nihlus.

"I have not seen her personally in a fight yet but nearly every human that has interacted with her has a deep respect and has able to get more information on logistics and the people on duty without having them admit anything, so far I am impressed." Nihlus told the council.

Spartus grumbled a little bit. "My guess is that the humans wanted to have someone with positive aspects to make joining the Specters as a noble act as we are still looked at with supession a specter like Shepard will also be a good thing for us as well." Valern stated.

"I am in agreement but we need to know about her combat ability before we induct her officially into the Specters." Tevos stated.

"Well with the beacon here, the scientist that study Prothean artifacts have never seen anything like this so they are brain storming on what it could be so we will look for missions for you to observe Shepard's combat ability." Spartus ordered Nihlus.

"Yes sir." Nihlus said giving a salute.

In the human embassy Udina, Anderson, and Shepard were around Udina's desk. Udina sitting in his chair. "Nice job Shepard if your next few missions go well humanity will finally have a voice in the Specters."

"Thank you, Ambassador."

"I know we should have at least clued you in earlier, but I figured Nihlus might not want you clued in until the first mission." Anderson apologized.

"It's alright I just wish he didn't follow me around the ship unless it was to use the restroom." She stated.

"That's is also something else that we need to discuss." Udina interjected.

"What's wrong with the ship?" Shepard asked.

"Since you are a candidate for the Specters, we have to show that we are willing to let you spread your wings and only answer to the council and as such I am being relieved of command of the Normandy." Anderson relayed. "You are now commander of the SV-Normandy."

Shepard stared at Anderson in shock. "I understand this will com as a shock but humanity needs a place within the specters and you are the best shot at it, other species of the council have become specters including species like the elcor, Batarians, and even a Drell became a specter and they never had an embassy on the Citadel." Udina said with exacerbation giving Anderson a glare.

Shepard than looked at Anderson with confusion noticing the glare Udina gave him. Anderson looked at Sheprad with a look that said that they will talk later. "That's all well and good but what about the crew?" She asked.

"You have nothing to worry about the crew will be receiving a message letting them know that I have taken a promotion advising Udina on military matters." Anderson said. "But regardless the crew are loyal to you just as much as they were loyal to me just show those leadership qualities that you have and they will fallow you deep into Batarian space if you asked them to take you there."

"Thank you, Anderson." Shepard said giving him a salute.

Udina coughed interrupting the moment. "I also see you are transferring Jenkins to finish off his service for an Ashley Williams to join your three-man ground team."

"Yes, sir I see her as the most qualified." Shepard explained to him.

"I agree with you Shepard but this might not go over will with some high up in the military brass due to her being the daughter of General Williams, but as you will answer directly to the council not them they can be talked down because she will be out of their hair." Udina said going over other logistics.

That explains why she gets the crap details. Shepard thought.

"Is that all ambassador?" Shepard asked.

"Yes, get some rest but be ready your next assignment could come at any moment." Udina told Shepard.

"Yes sir." Shepard said giving him a salute out of respect before she and Anderson leave the embassy for some short shore leave.

Author Note: I hate Udina. It was fun to shoot him in ME3. Also Mass Effect and its sequels are owned by Bioware who are unfortunately owned by EA. Fuck you EA. Please review Thank you.
