Chapter 16: Hostage Situation
On Feros, the Alliance was currently in a standoff with a group of Blue suns. The Blue Suns were holding 40 employees of Exogeni hostage. The leader, a Batarian named Baka was leading his mercenaries. The rest of the mercenaries composed of male humans, turians, and Batarians. The hostages were sitting on the floor looking down as mercs walked back and forth.
Outside the building two Alliance verabirds and a squad of N7's with a negotiator. "We just want to resolve this in a peaceful manner."
"Then get us a ship and safe passage to the Terminus System." Baka's voice yelled through the intercom before the line disconnected.
The negotiator took a breath in frustration. He looked at the head of the team and shook his head. They groaned looking at their omni-tool before contacting command. An N7 looked up and saw the Normandy SR-1 land. The team leader approached the Normandy waiting for Shepard and the Spectre with her. The leader kept their agitation hidden, not wanting their negative feelings towards Spectre's known. The hatch opened as three humans and a Turian walk down.
Once the Normandy ground team made it down the ramp, the special forces saluted. "Commander Shepard!" They greeted.
"Lt. Dillon." Shepard greeted.
Lt. Dillon put her arm down. "Admiral Hacket told us that you all were coming."
"What's the situation?"
"A group of Blue Suns tried to perform a raid on the colony but were intercepted by an Alliance Patrol." Dillon explained. "Most have either been detained or taken out."
"The Exogeni Building?" Nihlus asked.
Dillon stared at the Turian for a couple of seconds. "The majoriy of the Blue Sun's forces were targeting the colony, but a small contingent was targeting the headquarters."
"So, the colony raid was a diversion?" Nihlus asked.
"Most likely." Dillon replied. "Whatever they were after we don't know, and we most likely interrupted them."
"Have they made any demands?"
"A ship and safer passage, they also have not allowed any room for negotiation."
"Keep trying to get detail, do you have any schematics to the building?" Shepard inquired.
"Yes mam." The negotiator complied saluted.
One of Dillon's men arrived, his omni tool showing the schematics for the Exogeni building. "The hostages are located on the 21st floor in a ballroom far away from the windows."
"So an assault from the side is out of the question." Shepard stated. "Any access points that we can take advantage of?"
"The garage doesn't have cameras and there is a vent that leads to the elevator shaft and trops can climb up to the shaft." The N7 said.
"The only problem is that we don't have anyone that can fit into the air vent." Dillon pointed out.
"Williams, you, and I can." Shepard countered.
"But commander I can't leave my people." Dillon argued.
"We need as many people in the shaft as possible." Shepard said leaving no room for argument. "Spectre Nihlus has the experience and authority to lead the squad while you are absent, and you will still have communication with your squad."
Dillon sighed in defeat before turning to the rest of the N7's. "Under the orders Commander Shepard I will be going with her to infiltrate the building in the meantime Spectre Nihlus will be in charge, any objections?"
"No lieutenant." They said keeping any animosity towards the turian hidden.
Dillon turned toward the commander. "Ready when you are commander."
"Alright let's move out." Shepard ordered.
Shepard, Williams, and Dillion headed towards the garage carefully opening the door and checking to make sure the coast is clear. Williams seeing movement behind a Mako turned her attention to the Mako. "You behind the Mako slowly walk in front of the vehicle with your hands up."
Slowly a young woman in a green lab coat walked in front of the Mako. "Don't shoot I'm unarmed."
"What's your name?" Dillion demanded.
"I'm Lizbeth Baynham, I work for Exogeni I sent the Alliance a message." She told the soldiers.
"What message?" Dillon asked confused.
"The reason we are here is because Exogeni is under investigation by the Council for illegal experimentation." Williams elaborated.
"Well, that was the message I had sent." Lizbeth said.
"Listen will get the garage door open and you can talk to Nihlus about what you found right now we have hostages on the higher floors and you're still in danger." Shepard interrupted urgently. "NIhlus we found an Exogeni employee, we're sending her out right now."
"Confirmed, send her out now." Nihlus responded.
The door moved up with enough for Lizbeth to get through. The three then went to where the vent was and entered it. The three made there way to the elevator shaft starting their plan to free the hostages.
