Chapter 17: Standoff on Feros
Shepard, Dillion, and william's were crawling in the vent making slow progress towards the elevator shaft. They were clearly agitated having to slowly crawl in a tight space. They eventually made it to the elevator shaft. Dillion activated their omni-tool. "Son, we made it to the elevator shaft start phase 2 of the plan."
"Yes Lieutenant."
Back at the mobile headquarters a man of Korean heritage nodded toward the negotiator to contact the hostage taker. "Do you have the ship ready?" Baka asked.
"It's being prepared as we speak but my higher ups want a goodwill gesture?" The negotiator asked.
"And what would that be?"
"We just ask that you release some of the hostages and it will send a message that you won't just kill the hostages or enslave them, and it also helps you."
"How does it help me?" He asked.
"Less people you have to watch over, less people that need to eat and drink." The negotiator said.
A moment or two passed before Baka spoke again. "Alright I will release 20 hostages to show that we are negotiating under 'good' faith." He told the negotiator.
"You are doing the right thing; I am going to let my bosses know and the ship will be on its way."
"Good, the hostages will be released out the front door in 10 minutes." Baka said before disconnecting the connection.
"Alright people hostages are coming out the front door, get into position." The 2nd in command said before activating his omni-tool. "Dillion 20 hostages coming down."
"Roger, good work." They said. "What's the status on the ship."
"About to enter the relay." He told his lieutenant. "Are you sure about giving them a ship lieutenant?"
"It's a contingency sergeant last thing we need is for the hostages to be killed."
"Understood, we are in position." He said seeing two soldiers on the side of the entrance.
After ten minutes of waiting twenty hostages slowly trickled out with their hands in the air. "Hostages are coming out are you on the elevator?" He asked his lieutenant.
Back in the elevator shaft, Williams, Dillion and Shepard were on the roof of the elevator waiting. "In position." Dillion whispered.
The elevator started going up quickly. The elevator eventually made a stop. They look into the elevator and saw three mercs exit the elevator. "Sgt. Son what floor have we stopped at?"
"Floor 47, it has a ballroom where they can control the hostages."
"Roger that." Dillion said as they moved to the vent and started crawling towards the ballroom.
They made it to a grate that looked into the ballroom. They saw 17 hostages being watched by 8 mercenaries. "Placing a micro camera at the entrance through the bathroom."
"Alright heading there now."
The three quietly made their way to the vent to the bathroom as they quietly exited the vent and dropped to the floor. They went to the door as it opened. They checked the hallway and saw that it was clear they slowly made their way to the elevator panel. Dillion accessed the panel through there omni tool.
"I accessed the elevator; Tao should be able to create a back door."
After a minute a response was made, "Got a VI to start a loop on their video monitors." Son told them.
"Alright starting to go towards the ballroom entrance." She quietly said as the three slowly made their way to the ballroom door. "At the door what's the status in the ballroom?"
"Still on guard, I'm going to set up a distraction." Son said.
The negotiator the contacted the mercs. "Your ship is in the system and is making its way to the system."
"Excellent we will be releasing two hostages."
The three soldiers quickly, but quietly moved away from the door before it opened and two hostages came out with a turian merc behind them as they made their way to the elevator. The three followed them. When the hostages entered the elevator, Dillion put the turian into a headlock until he was unconscious.
The three nodded at each other before heading back to the boardroom. "Lieutenant, all but one of the mercs are heading for a backroom."
"Thank you, sergeant." Dillion said as they started running towards the door.
They entered the ballroom shooting a human merc when he turned to the door. They ran to the door to the backroom, Williams turned to the hostages, "Alright everyone stay low and calmly exit the room and get to the stairs." She told them calmly.
The hostages followed her instructions and quickly made their way out of the room. The door to the backroom opened two mercenary's walkouts but notice the three soldiers and start to raise their weapons only to be gunned down. The three slowly made their way into the back room checking the door. They found the remaining mercenaries in the kitchen. "I should have known that the Alliance was up to something." Baka grumbled.
"Know you got nothing left to negotiate with so surrender." Shepard ordered.
"And go to an Alliance prison as a batarian ha, even the bullshit the Hegemony spews is right once in a while."
"Maybe not, we still need info on who hired you and why you didn't run when the Alliance showed." Shepard reasoned.
Baka scrutinized her before grunting. "Fine, this data isn't worth dying for and that human that hired us is not worth this mess."
Baka dropped his weapons and the other mercs followed suit. He took out a data drive and placed it on a table. "This is what we were hired to retrieve, I don't know what's on it."
More N7's appeared through the door and arrested the mercs. The data drive collected for analysis. They all went down as a prison transport ship appeared. The mercenaries were placed security before the ship left the planet.
"Now that the Blue Suns are dealt we have one more problem." Son told the three.
"What could be the problem now?" Dillion complained.
"The reason being a sentient plant life infecting the colonists." Lizbeth Baynham answered.
