Chapter 25: Mission Brief and new Crew Members
Shepard and her crew made their way to the human embassy. On their way they noticed two turians and a quarrian traveling with them. Once they entered the human embassy to see Anderson and Udina waiting for them.
"Shepard congratulations on your new status as Spectre." Udina said cordially. "Sadly, there is no time to celebrate as an emergency situation requires your attention."
"What's the assignment ambassador?" Shepard asked.
Udina nodded towards one of the turians. This turian's plating was dark with white paint marking on their forehead, around their eyes and upper mouth. "On your last mission you uncovered data caches on Cerberus." He said.
"Right." Shepard said unsure.
"Forgot to introduce myself, executor Venari Pallin Spectre." He introduced himself curtly before turning to a turian with gray scales and blue markings below his eyes. "This is lieutenant Garrus Vakarian, he is the one looking over the files recovered."
The executor then turned to the quarrian in barely hidden disgust. Instead of introducing her, he motioned for her to do it herself. "My name is Tali'Zorah nar Rayya."
"The data you recovered lead me to her and the data she obtained." Garrus said.
The humans turned towards the quarrian making her nervous. She told everyone about her pilgrimage and the story on how she got here. Udina rubbed his head as a migraine started to form. "First the rachni, then a seniant mind controlling plant." He said in frustration. "The prime minister is going to be thrilled."
Anderson also grumbled. "I know who killed Barla Von."
"Who?" The executor asked.
"Kai Leng." He said. "He was a soldier for the military but was discharged due to his acts of violence."
"A human that was even too violent for them didn't know they had standards." The executor muttered loud enough for some of the humans to hear.
"I take it the council is sending me because the facility is on a human planet in the Terminus." Shepard said to prevent the meeting from being even more tense and awkward.
"It would be the safest option for the council." Udina said pulling out a bottle of scotch and a glass.
"The Normandy is also one of the best ships to slip through the terminus systems."
"There is one request that I would like to make." Pallin said. "I would like you to take lieutenant Vakarian as a liaison for your mission and to take the quarrian off my hands."
"Given that the two have first hand accounts on what we might be going into, it would be greatly appreciated." Shepard said.
"Excellent Vakarian you now report to Commander Shepard." He said taking his leave. "Ambassador."
"Executor." Udina said curtly taking a sip of his drink.
"I have something to do," Shepard said. "I will meet you at the docs."
Shepard sent Tali and Garrus the information on where the ship is before she to took her leave. She headed back to Liara's apartment. Opening the door, she found Liara still on the couch.
"Hey Liara."
The Asari looked up. "Shepard what did the council want?"
Shepard grinned. "I am now officially a Spectre."
Liara smile grew at the news. "Congratulations."
Shepard's smile fell. "Bad news is that I got my first official mission that I have to leave for."
"The council deemed it an emergency situation."
"It must be." Liara said solemnly.
Shepard pulled her asari girlfriend into a hug. "I will contact you when I can."
"You better!" Liara archeologist said in a faux scolding.
The two kissed for a few moments before stopping. "I can't wait to come back." Shepard said.
"I can't either." Liara said breathlessly.
Shepard left the apartment, but not before taking one last look at Liara before the automatic door closed and she headed for the Normandy.
Now for side peace.
In an office at c-sec headquarters, detective Anita Boggart was finishing the reports she needed to complete. She wrote the last sentence before walking to her partner's office. Herter Salvisis looked up at her.
"Hey Herter, anymore paperwork we have to do?" She asked. "I want to head home, my wife is making curry."
The turian sighed. "No."
"Awesome I better head out before the executor decides to add on to my workload." She said before running out excitedly.
Herter shook his head. He has been the human's partner for half a year now and he still doesn't understand how she was able to do her paperwork so fast. Continuing to do his reports, he sighed realizing that he isn't even halfway done with it.
Thank you all for reading I greatly appreciate it. Sorry for being so short. I wanted to put a nice little side ending to the chapter Boggart getting done with work so she can go home to her wife for some curry.
