Gareth's POV

As Maggie's lookouts began sounding their signals, one by one, to alert that The Saviors were near, Theresa was radioing me to update me on hers and Sadie's current positions.

"...last I saw her, she was chasing him into some building." She said. "I was gonna hang around, maybe even go in with her after we'd cornered him, but she insisted she had it under control, wanted me as an added look out…...although I think you and I both know that just loosely translates to.."

"...She just wants to take him, herself. One on one." I finished for her with a chuckle. "Better than anyone, we do."

"Yeah." She chuckled. "...I'll even bet she comes back here with that damned bat of his again."

"...like a damn trophy." I agreed with a chuckle. "Alright, well thanks for the update. You let me know if you hear from her before I do."

"You know it." She assured, as she signed off.

"Anything?" Maggie, who somehow managed to sneak up behind me, asked.

"Not yet, anyway." I answered. "Theresa's out there with the lookouts though, she'll keep an eye out for her.

She nodded. "That's good."

"She'll be here." I reassured. "Far be it from her, to miss out on a good fight."

"I would think not." She agreed. "Either way, just be ready."

"Always am."

By sun down, everyone had assumed their positions, as we waited for Negan and the rest of his Saviors to pull up.

I stood out on the balcony, behind Maggie, keeping an eye out toward the distance for Sadie, while one of Maggie's guards kept watch over her prisoners.

Once they did, Maggie got a hold of one of them on her walkie.

"Negan. I want to talk to Negan." She ordered.

"Well, Hello there!" The voice on the other end, definitely not Negan's, proclaimed. "You are speaking to Negan, but my birth certificate says Simon. With whom do I have the distinct displeasure of speaking?"

"Maggie. Maggie Rhee, The Widow." She told him.

"Well then, hello again, Widow Rhee. Allow me to offer my condolences….for what's happened...and what's about to happen." He replied. "..In case it's not already as plain as Hilltop potatoes, yours truly is speaking on behalf of Negan this go around, and I assure you that the man himself received your care package, next day delivery. I noticed it was the box I gave you in god faith...trick's on me. But, bill's come due, and you and your people are gonna have to pay. Quite dearly, I'm afraid.

"Your thirty eight people are alive and breathing." She reminded him, coldly. "Turn around and leave us be, and they stay that way. If you don't, I have thirty eight bullets that I will personally fire into all."

She practically shoved the walkie in front of one of the prisoners for him to start talking

"It's too nice a night to spend it dyin' slow, don't you think, Simon?" He said, meekly.

She took it back from him almost immediately afterward.

"So, how's this gonna go?" She asked.

"Well, Maggie Rhee, this is highly regrettable, but the way I see it, the Saviors you're in possession of there, are damaged goods." Simon replied, just as coldly. "You know, they've got themselves into their own pickle, and this organization prizes those who, "A," avoid capture and, "B," figure out their own shit when said outcome eventuates.

Which, in the end, is my way of saying screw them!"

"Did you really think that cockamamie play would work?" Another of them, Gregory, I think his name was, scoffed.

Jesus, no wonder Sadie can't stand him.

"Man, do you ever shut up?" I scoffed back.

"It will work." Maggie insisted, before he could say anything else.

Soon after, as if on cue, Sadie showed up on her motorcycle with a machine gun that she had secured to the front of it and was now firing at every Savior in her immediate vicinity.

She had barely driven through the gates before one of the Saviors' trucks came barreling through, triggering Maggie to get everyone else firing back at them.

Some more of them started firing their own weapons at us and were immediately shot down.

"Take the prisoners to my office, hold 'em there til it's done!" Maggie ordered.

The guard in charge of them and I ran to get them inside on her command, while she hung back and appeared to be scanning the area for something….or rather, someone.

"Maggie, you coming?" I asked her, poking my head back out.

"Where the hell is he?!" She muttered, before shouting out orders to some more of her people.

Maggie and her guard took things from there while I went to find Sadie, and possibly cover her if need be.

By the time I got to her, she had taken to taking out any saviors that came at her with Negan's bat.

Did I call that, or what?

I chuckled a little to myself at the thought and took to shooting at any saviors that tried to come at her from behind.

"Got your little trophy back, I see." I teased, shooting at some more of them

"Yeah, well, you knew it was only a matter of time!" She chuckled, swinging it at another.

"Yeah, I guess I did." I chuckled back.

We started to fight our way through some more of them, til we heard Theresa scream in the near distance.

Sadie looked up, after bashing in the head of another Savior, and then turned to look at me to confirm we were thinking the same.

She began to shout for her, as she led me off in the direction the scream had come from

"T? THERESA!" She shouted.

When we finally caught up to her, she had fallen down to her knees and seemed to be covering a bloody wound while she sat herself down by a nearby wall.

'I'm alright!" She reassured us, nodding to one of the bodies on the ground. "...he stabbed me, but I got him.

I nodded.

Sadie rushed down to her side, to sit with her and help her keep pressure on the wound.

I stood beside both of them, keeping my guard up to shoot any of them who came near.

We had been there a while when a man, who looked vaguely familiar ran up and put his hands up at the sight of my gun til I was able to recognize that he was that doctor guy that the kid had gone and brought in. Siddiq, I think his name was.

He sat down by the other side of Theresa, as she allowed him to assess her wound...as well as he could, in the surrounding chaos

"I can stay with her." He promised.

"Well, I'm not leaving." Sadie insisted.

"I'll go then." I said.

Sadie looked up at me, hesitating briefly, but eventually nodded.

"Be careful." She told me.

"Always am." I half smiled, hoping to reassure her somewhat, before I took back off.
