Just Friends - Who's Invited?

Marcia and Star were in their pajamas having a jam session with the help of their toothbrushes. The two girls were dancing in the bathroom as they used their Love Sentence electric toothbrushes. The song "Just Friends" played throughout the bathroom, the girls lip-syncing the lyrics, with toothpaste foam rimmed around their mouths.

"~It was no secret, the way that we feel~" Star sung

"~A love that's so pure, a love that's so real~" Marcia sung

"~You showed me your world, and it felt like a sign~"

"~ But you acted too slow, and you ran out of ti-i-ime~"

As the song came to an end the two girls, in sync, spit in the sink rinsing their mouths out.

Marcia let out an uncharacteristic girlish squeal. "Oh, man, the only thing cooler than these Love Sentence singing toothbrushes is the fact you got us tickets to see them tomorrow!"

"Duh. That's what friends are for! Plus, Love Sentence is like our thing," Star spoke gesturing between her and Marcia.

"Aw, you would know. You're my best friend," Marcia said and the girls shared a high five.

"Good night, Marcia," Star said

"Night Star," Marcia gave a wave as she exited the bathroom.

When she was out of earshot a rather mischievous smile came to Star's lips. "Sleep tight." She lightly chuckled.

Marcia was laying her bed asleep, her mouth open, letting out tiny snores. Her phone starts to buzz on her nightstand waking her up. She laid still trying to ignore the phone but Liger lightly slapped Marcia's face with his large furry paw, his own way of telling her to stop the noise that had awoken him as well. Groggily without moving from her position she sticks her arm out palming around for her phone. Marcia finally grabs it answering the phone.

"Hello?" Marcia answered in a faint sleepy tone.

"Marcia! Are you awake?" Star asked over the phone.

"No," Marcia said

"Oh sorry...Wait, if you're not awake then how are you talking to me?" Star gasped. "Did you learn how to sleep talk?"

"Star what do you want?" Marcia asked

"I forgot to tell you, I actually got an extra ticket to the concert and since I couldn't think of someone to invite I thought you'd maybe like to do it," Star said

"Yeah, sure, whatever," Marcia said

"Who you gonna invite?" Star asked

"I don't know Star. Just let me sleep," Marcia said

"Not until you tell me who you're inviting," Star said

"I don't know….I'll invite Jackie," Marcia said

"No she's busy," Star said

"How do you-?"

"Never mind that! Who else could you possibly invite? Someone else who loves Love Sentence just as much as you and me, maybe even more..." Star pressed

"Uuhhh...Oh, I can invite Tom," Marcia said

"Tom! What a great idea Marcia," Star said with a bit too much enthusiasm.

"Good. Now can I go to sleep?" Marcia asked

"Yeah! Yeah! This is gonna be awesome! Now, get them beauty sleeps," Star said

The next morning Marcia was in her room sitting on her bed typing on her laptop. Marcia screamed and jumped as her bedroom door was kicked open.

"Time to get dressed, Marcia!" Star shouted

Marcia had fallen off the side of her bed, but amazingly landed on all fours her back arched. Marcia stood up, her brows furrowed.

"Star! Knocking! How many times do I have to tell you that," Marcia said

"I did knock with my foot," Star said

"That doesn't count and you know it. You're gonna end up giving me a heart attack one day," Marcia said

"Come on! Come-on-come-on-come-on!" Star bounced up and down excitedly. "I made us concert tees!"

Star waves her wand creating three shirts.

"Oh, man! Love Sentence concert tees!" Marcia said as one fell on her face.

The shirts were white with the logo Love Sentence Tour printed on it.

"Now hurry up. Tom's gonna be here any minute!" Star said

"No he's not actually," Marcia said

Star's happy bouncing came to an abrupt end, and she frowned.

"Wha...What do you mean he's not coming?" Star asked

"I texted and called him." Marcia held up her phone. "But nothing."

"Well then text him again!" Star ran over to Marcia grabbing her shoulders. "You gotta text him again!"

"Star calm down. Why are you so worked up? Did you get into my secret stash of chocolate again?" Marcia questioned

"What, pshh…Noo….." Star hides one of her hands behind her back wiping away some chocolate on her fingers.

"Look Star, Tom wasn't answering his phone. So I invited someone else," Marcia said

"Someone else? Who?" Star said

The doorbell rings, signaling someone was here.

"That should be him now," Marcia said, heading out the room.

"Him…" Star mumbled

Star followed Marcia downstairs and to the front door. The princess bore a confused expression the entire way, which quickly turned to shock when Marcia opened the door.

"Maraca!"

"Sup Oskar," Marcia greeted

"Oskar!" Star exclaimed

"Hey, it's the magic girl!" Oskar said

"Y-Yeah that's me, magical girl. Her with her magic!" Star awkwardly smiled holding up her wand. "Marcia can I talk to for a quick sec over here, out of earshot."

Before Marcia could respond Star grabbed her pulling her into the living room.

"Marcia, what is Oskar doing here?" Star whispered

"I invited him," Marcia said

"Why?" Star asked

"He's the only person I could think of after Tom and you already said Jackie was busy. Despite the fact Oskar tries to make all his music indie he does enjoy mainstream stuff," Marcia said

"Oh cool! Concert shirt!" Oskar cheered, finding one of the concert's shirts before slipping it on.

"This is gonna be fun Star. I thought you liked Oskar," Marcia said

"What! Nah! Uh! Who told you that!" Star grabbed Marcia. "Does Oskar know?!"

"Know what?" Oskar questions popping up next to the girls.

"Nothing! Just…."

"About how awesome or night is going to be," Marcia said

"Awesome! Concert! Concert! Concert!" Oskar started to chant.

"Concert! Concert! Concert!" Marcia threw her hands up and started to chant along with Oskar.

Star watched the two gripping tightly onto her wand. "Yeah...Concert whooo…" She held on tighter to her wand as an ominous green glow dimly illuminated from the center.

Star, Marcia, and Oskar all walked down the street heading to the concert. Oskar and Marcia walked side by side Star trailing a few steps behind them. Oskar had brought his keytar and was playing a few random notes.

"Star! Wanna join in some Love Sentence trivia?" Marcia asked

"Uh…" Star said

"Oh come on." Marcia slowed down to walk next to Star hooking an arm with her. "You love Love Sentence trivia." She leaned in closer whispering. "I can't play against Oskar. He knows nothing, I'd crush him."

Star is quiet before a smile blooms on her face.

"Okay!"

Marcia smiles back happy and the two girls start to go back and forth in a fun game of trivia.

"Ooh-ooh! I got one. How many times did Love Sentence break up before their fourth reunion tour?" Star asked

Marcia put a hand on her chin thinking. "Hmm...lets see I think it was-"

"Six."

Marcia and Star both pause looking at Oskar.

"Oskar...How did you know that?" Marcia questioned

"I read it in a book! Oh, wait no it was a magazine...Wait, wait, wait no, it was candy wrapper," Oskar said

"Candy Wrapper?" Marcia questions

"Oh, yeah Love Sentence's candy. Each wrapper contained facts about the band inside," Star said

"Right! Now I remember. They were like a limited edition thing," Marcia said

The group finally arrived at the concert and Star had gotten them really good seats. The audience was filled with throngs of girls and boys, ages ranging from preteen to young adults. The stage had a prison theme, equipped with searchlights and emergency sirens. There were even police officers along with barking police dogs.

"Remain calm and shelter in place. This is not a drill."

The wall of the fake prison starts to cave in, then is smashed open and out appears Love Sentence. The crowd cheers going wild.

"Hello, Echo Creek!" Justin Towers said

Marcia lets out a squeal, her fist shaking excitedly. "Oh, my gosh! Oh, my gosh! Oh, my gosh! Such pageantry! I love it. I love it!"

"Straight out of the Echo Creek Penitentiary, I'm Justin Towers, and this one goes out to everyone who's just friends."

Star and Marcia gasp looking at one another.

"Our second-favorite song!"

The audience starts dancing and the group joins in.

"~It was no secret~"

"~The way that we feel~"

"~A love that's so pure~"

"~A love that's so real~"

"~You showed me your world, and it felt like a sign. But you acted too slow, and you ran out of ti-i-ime~"

"~And now we'll be just friends

We will be just friends

And now we'll be just friends

Be just friends~"

The group started to get separated in the crowd of dancers losing one another.

"~I didn't mean to hurt you

You didn't have a clue

So you went out and got busy

And found somebody new

And now we'll be just friends

Oh, we will be just friends

And now we'll be just friends

Be just friends

And now we'll be…~"

A guitar solo starts up and the dancing dies down. Couples start pairing up using the romantic mood and start kissing. Star finally spots Marcia and makes her over to her friend.

"Mar-!"

Star stops and frowns. Oskar and Marcia are together, rather close. Oskar had an arm wrapped over Marcia's shoulder and the two were swaying in sync with the music together.

"~I didn't mean to hurt you

You didn't have a clue

So you went out and got busy

And found somebody new, new, new

And now we'll be~"

Marcia finally spots Star and smiles.

"Star there you are," She said waving her over.

Instead, Star turned and started running away.

"Star? Where are you going?" Marcia called

Marcia followed after the princess finally catching up to her when they made it to the front row.

"Why are you trying to leave? Are you alright?" Marcia questioned

"Oh, don't be silly! I just wanted to be down here by the stage so I could feel their sweat spraying on my face!" Star lets out a nervous awkward laugh. "Sweat."

Marcia raises a brow, "Really now?"

"Duh! Now-" Star turns Marcia around and starts pushing her back to their seats. "-Go be with your boyfriend."

Marcia freezes her eyes wide. "Boyfriend!"

She whips around to face Star but the blonde is already gone.

"~We spiraled high on a gust of love

And I knew right from the start~"

Star walks out of the auditorium a strained smile on her face.

"~Nothing could tear us apart

Til the day you broke my heart~"

As Star walks away she raises her wand and a green beam of energy shoots out of her wand destroying a Love Sentence billboard.

"Oh my gosh!"

Star turns around and sees a surprised Marcia.

"Marcia?" Star questions

"Star...did you just blow up that billboard because you're jealous?" Marcia asked

"What?! No. Of course not!" Star said

"Sure you didn't? Star, first off I know you like Oskar. Why do you think I invited him to this concert?" Marcia said

"Because you two are close?" Star said

"No, because you like Oskar. Star you're my best friend I would never hurt you like that," Marcia said

"But you and Oskar-"

"Oskar and I have known each other since we were kids, but we in no way like one another. Dating him would feel like dating my brother or something. I'm sorry you felt that way and I didn't make it clear enough," Marcia said

"Oh, Marcia…" Star smiles. "I'm sorry too."

The two girls hug it out as the last note of the song plays.

"Now.." Marcia pulled away from Star. "How about we get back and enjoy that concert?"

"I'd like that," Star said

The two girls put their arms over each other's shoulders walking back inside.

"Master Tom here is your new phone."

A demon held a phone out to Tom.

"It's about time," Tom said

He turns on the device and it immediately dings several times filling up with the missed messages and calls he had while he awaited his new phone.

"Let's see...Oh, a text from Marcia. "'Wanna come to a Love Sentence concert?'" Tom read

Tom pauses and his eyes widen. He quickly rereads the message before looking over the date.

"Two...days ago!"

Tom lets out a roar of anger bursting in flames. The phone in his hand is crushed and falls to the floor in a mess of metal and ash.

The demon looked at Tom then to the destroyed new phone.

"I'll get you another one."
