Luigi stirred as his body shifted around on a warm soft surface, he opened his baby blue eyes to stare up at a grey brick ceiling. The green plumber took a good look at himself, his hat was missing, Luigi looked around for it and saw it was hanging on the bed post at the front of the bed. He felt something wrapped around his neck and put his hand up to his check, there were bandages wrapped around his neck, which surprised Luigi. Sitting up and looking around he could see that he was in a nice looking bedroom, he expected to wake up in someplace terrible but he was relieved that so far things didn't seem like it was going to be so bad. Luigi lifted up the blankets to see if he was bandaged up anywhere else, his right pant leg was pulled up and there was a bandage on his right leg that started at his ankle and ended at his knee. Someone had helped him, but who?

Luigi tried to move his right leg, trying to get up and walk around but a sharp pain shot up his leg, Luigi let out a shriek of pain and quickly laid back down. "Ow...Mamma Mia..." "Why did this happen to me?" Luigi whimpered aloud, clenching and unclenching his fists to try and distract himself from the pain. After a few minutes Luigi tried to stand up again and this time he was able to stand, although he couldn't stand without help from leaning on something and was also in intense pain. Luigi gritted his teeth, took in a deep breath and withstood the burning pain in his leg to hobble over to the window on the other side of the room in the bottom middle of the room, he looked out the window and gasped in horror.

What he saw was a land of barren magma rock and brimstone, with massive bubbling lava pits dotted throughout the landscape, Luigi could see small colourful dots moving around on the ground below, the green plumber had to squint and lean forward to make out the shapes of whatever was moving around down there. To Luigi's confusion, there were dozens of Koopa Troopas and Goombas running around on the ground, some were taking samples from the lava pits, some were exiting or entering the castle and some were loading or unloading supply crates from wagons. "Why are so many Koopa Troopas and Goombas here?" "Am I under attack?" Luigi muttered out loud as he scanned the area, looking for some kind of clue or landmark to tell him where he was.

Luigi felt his blood run cold and a pit of fear started to bubble up in the pit of his stomach, a nervous sweat forming on his brow as his eyes landed on one particular landmark, it was a flagpole with a certain flag waving proudly in the hot wind. On the flagpole was the symbol of Bowser, a sign that struck fear into the hearts of innocents everywhere.

And that's when it clicked for Luigi, the large amount of Goombas and Koopa Troopas, the barren, lava filled landscape. He was in Bowser's base.

Luigi felt terror ring through his heart as the gravity of his situation slowly began to sink in.

He was in Bowser's base. With an injured leg that made him barely able to walk and no sign of a rescue team in sight. He was in Bowser's base, it was still sinking in.

He needed to escape, ASAP. Luigi may be many things, but a fool was not one of them. He wasn't about to stick around and see what Bowser had in store for him.

Luigi moved away from the window and hobbled over to the bed, letting out a loud hiss of pain as he gave himself a break, he needed all the energy he could get to escape this place alive. Luigi looked around for something he could use as a crutch or a cane to help him walk, a broom leaning against the foot of the bed would do just fine. After a few minutes, Luigi had gained enough strength to walk, he hobbled over to the end of the bed, took the broom and struggled over to the door. Luigi slowly and carefully opened the door to the room he was once sleeping in, he peeked his head out to scan the area.

"No guards posted outside the door or in the hallway, good." Luigi thought, he carefully hobbled down the hallway and down a flight or stairs, wincing with pain at every step on the stairway. Luigi made it to the second hallway, he started to hobble down the hallway when a loud roar from a few floors downstairs made the poor Italian almost jump out of his skin. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY NEED MORE HELMETS?!" "I just gave them more safety gear last week!" Bowser's voice roared from downstairs, he sounded furious, all the more reason to escape as quickly as possible. Luigi started to quickly hobble down the hallway, biting his lip to withstand the pain, he was halfway to the next flight of stairs when he heard two strangely familiar voice's coming his way. "Why do I have to come up with you so you can get your dumb teddy bear?" A little girl's voice rang out, clearly annoyed with whoever she was talking to. "Oh come on, you know I get lost easily!" "Besides, it's better then counting lava bubbles and being bored all day." A second voice answered the first one, it sounded like a little boy.

Luigi looked around for a place to hide, but there wasn't anywhere to go and he wouldn't be able to get into a hiding spot fast enough anyway. Luigi could only stand there and brace himself for the worst as two little koopalings walked up the stairs, Luigi was terrified to see Ludwig Von Koopa and Wendy O Koopa, two of Bowser's children walking up the stairs, they both stopped at the top of the stairs and stared wordlessly at the terrified plumber. Both koopalings exchanged a look of confusion before turning to look back at Luigi, "Umm...H-Hello there little ones..." "P-Please dont rat me out..." Luigi whimpered out, trying to compromise with the two tiny terrors, Ludwig and Wendy exchanged another look, this time a look of: "Does he really think we'll listen to him?" before Wendy turned around and yelled down the stairs at the top of her lungs: "Daddy!" "Green Stache is awake and trying to escape!"

Luigi felt his heart flip-flop down into his stomach and fly back up into his throat, shaking with fear as enormously loud crashing footsteps that seemed to shake the building itself and Bowser's shadow crept up the side of the stairway, Luigi tried to quickly hobble backwards but lost his footing and fell over onto his butt, his breath coming out of his mouth in thin whistles as Bowser himself walked up the stairs. Bowser's squared the green plumber up as he analyzed the situation, he motioned for Wendy and Ludwig to stay back before walking towards the human, Luigi tried to press himself against the wall to put as much distance between him and Bowser but because of his leg, he was only able to move back about a foot before Bowser was standing over him. "I...Im sorry i tried to escape...Please dont hurt me." was all Luigi could muster up, Luigi flinched and squeezed his eyes shut as Bowser's massive hands reached out towards him, but instead of hurting him, Bowser picked Luigi up like how people pick up baby ducklings before shifting Luigi into a bridal style position in his arms. "What's wrong with him Pops?" Ludwig asked from down the hallway, Bowser looked down to make eye contact with Luigi before turning his head to look at Ludwig. "Green Stache here is hurt and needs to rest in the room i picked out for him." "I'll take him back to his room, in the meantime i dont want any of you to bother him, okay?" Bowser asked and the two kids nodded and went back downstairs, Luigi was surprised with how nice Bowser was to the koopalings, he thought Bowser would yell at them and threaten them like how he always threatened Mario and Luigi but Bowser was good to them, talking to them like how any good father would.
