Chapter thirteen, right into it

Let's gooooooooo!

"So, how was your first support class?"

Izuka chewed a bite of food as she sat with Mustard. "Well, it was pretty fun actually. Power Loader gave me a challenge, and please, don't call it support."

Mustard nodded. "You're right, my bad. Class 1-B went with Vlad King to do quirk training. It was pretty boring…"

'Oh? Did you learn anything new?"

Mustard shrugged. "I put a lot of effort into knowing my quirk. When I was in elementary school I experimented with it in little bits. I learned that I don't just create mustard gas, but I can control it to some extent. I can create a limitless mount, but it will dissipate after going about one hundred feet away from me. Also, it affects me as much as it affects others."

Izuka nodded. "Have you looked to see if your body might have any mutations that you can strengthen? For example, where do you create the gas?"

Mustard nodded. "Anywhere on my body, a lot like Midnight."

"Do you know how your body creates the gas?"

"It's not something I can really work on. I have cells on my skin that take in clean air and transmute it into mustard gas."

Izuka nodded. "Well how about controlling the gas, how do you do that?"

"It's difficult after I make it. It's more influencing the airstream by changing the pressure at which the gas is expelled."

"Woah, that's pretty technical stuff!"

Mustard nodded. "By working with a two different jets of gas from my palms, I can create small gaseous cyclones. I'm trying to work on bigger ones, the problem is that I have to use my breath as well."

"So let the gas come off of your face…"

Mustard nodded. "If I did it properly, I could create a pretty tall tornado of mustard gas. It's just really dangerous to even attempt it when I could easily kill myself if I failed."

Izuka nodded. "I have an idea… would you mind if I got a sample of your hair, or your skin? I want to see if I could incorporate your quirk into some sort of gas mask."

Mustard shrugged. "If you can, I'd love to see it."

Izuka nodded. "Great. After we're done with lunch, come with me to the lab and I'll collect a sample. Then, I have a sparring test with 1-A."

"Good Luck, from what I hear, their teacher is pretty cut throat."

Izuka chuckled. "Eraserhead I think. With what I know I should be fine."

Izuka and Mustard finished their lunch, and used the last few minutes of the block to get a few DNA samples for Izuka. As Izuka placed the samples in a sterilized test tube, Power Loader walked in and stretched.

"I've got a few second years coming in here soon. Are you here this block or no?"

Izuka shook her head. "I'll be back tomorrow for three blocks in a row. Well, lunch after the first, and then two after that. Today I have combat tests and training with 1-A. It's sparring, quirks allowed, but it's mainly for combat strategy and such."

"I know Aizawa's class routine. Good luck kid."

"I don't think I'll need it when it comes to the professor. But the kids in his class? Maybe. I hear one of them is in a family that deals with quirkless trafficking."

Power Loader nodded. "We have him in the school to keep a close eye on his family. Nezu hasn't said anything else on the matter, so be careful."

"Yes Power Loader Sensei. For now, I am off! I will see you tomorrow."

Izuka smiled and walked out of the lab, making sure to pick up her suitcase before leaving.

The young woman walked through the maze of halls within the school, eventually coming to a massive door emblazoned with "1-A"

"Well, guess it's hard to miss… Also, don't try to hide, I saw that yellow sleeping bag a mile away."

Said sleeping bag inchwormed out from it's hiding spot, before pulling itself up and revealing a tired face with long black hair.

"You're the quirkless kid…"

"And you're Eraserhead. I guess it is a bit strange seeing someone immune to your quirk. Then again it doesn't work on mutant types, does it?"

The man blinked, trying to assess the student before him, but he couldn't figure out anything. To some, he would seem intimidating, or on the other hand, lackluster. Here, the woman was excited, seemingly star struck.

"You know, if you get distracted by heroes on the field, you could be a liability."

Izuka smiled. "Classic Eraserhead fashion, trying to diss me to see my hand? Won't work. I grew up being told I was unfit to live, you think your little nags will hurt me?"

"And what if the people in your life were correct?"

"Then that shows how broken our current system is. Now are we going in? I believe you are two minutes late."

"As are you."

Izuka nodded. "Although one could argue that having this conversation is what made us late in the first place. Call it a draw for now?"

The hero muttered a few words under his breath, but nodded at Izuka.

Opening the door, they were met by a class of twenty students.

"Wow… small class…"

"Gen ed has the bigger courses. The hero track isn't suited for everyone, we want only the best of the best." Aizawa nodded.

"Sensei! Who is that?"

Aizawa turned to a student who had antlers sprouting from his head.

"This is Izuka Midoriya, a specialized study here at UA."

"A specialized study?" The class blinked.

"Indeed. She won't join us for regular quirk training, but will be present for spars and combat scenarios." Aizawa stated. "Although you might feel that she is at a disadvantage because she doesn't receive as much as you, I urge you to practice caution."

Izuka gave a bow. "Thank you for having me."

Aizawa nodded and handed Izuka a few sets of gym uniforms.

"Put these on, we'll meet on the training ground for one on one spars.

Izuka let the teacher walk past her and out the door. She quickly followed and ducked into the girls locker room to change.

The door opened as Izuka was pulling her gym shirt on.

"What was your first impression of the other girl?"

"What, the Midoriya girl? I don't think she's necessarily a threat to the class. She seems pretty unassuming.

"She doesn't have quirk training with us, isn't that a bit odd?"

"I wonder what else she studies."

Izuka chuckled and walked out of the locker room, unnoticed by the girls that were talking.

"You're the second one here. Impressive." Izuka blinked as she walked onto the training ground.

Izuka looked up to find Aizawa standing with a black haired student.

"This is Kijiri, he has a water manipulation quirk. I assume that you two are the ones to look out for."

"You haven't seen us work yet." The boy said. "You're already putting us at the top?"

"Work ethic goes a long way in my class. The more you want something, the more you'll be rewarded. Now, we'll wait a few more minutes. Then we'll start."

After the rest of the students joined, Aizawa began the lesson.

"You could all stand to be a bit quicker… Today we'll be doing one on one spars. Now, up until now, you have only been measured by your body's physical capacity, barring your quirk. Such a thing is illogical. Making kids think that they are all equal, when their powers are vastly different. Those of you with so called strong quirks, keep your eyes open. The most dangerous enemies are always at your feet. Now, we'll start with Koridae and Samba. You two, take your places and begin."

Two girls took their places and gave a bow, before beginning to spar with their quirks. A flash of lightning tore through the air, striking Samba across the face. Samba retaliated by snapping her fingers. A line of shadow shot out of her arm, wrapping her opponent tightly.

"Stop. An excellent display. However, you should try not to rely on your quirks too much." Aizawa nodded. "Now, Totoba and Shin."

The two students were replaced by two others, who bowed and began to spar. Izuka studied the fights closely, writing down all that she could in her notebook.

'Totoba seems to be able to extend his own body as if it were elastic or rubber. Shin's quirk looks to have some sort of effect on his hair, turning it into crystal spines?'

At first, it seemed that Shin would have the upper hand. However, once his spines began to bounce off of his opponent, the battle turned. Totoba ended the fight quickly after that, restraining hi opponent with ease.

"An excellent use of martial arts to start with Shin." Aizawa nodded. "Next, Hikari and Kijiri."

Izuka watched with rapt attention as the two began to fight. Izuka noted that Kijiri could pull water from sources around him, such as plants or even the humid air. However, Hikari could bend light to her will.

The battle of manipulated elements went back and forth, each student holding their own as their opponent blocked attacks and sent in their own strikes.

Hikari suddenly set off a flashbang with her quirk, and used the distraction to run up and force Kijiri to his knees.

"Wonderful, a great mixture of fighting styles and quirk use."

Kijiri walked over to Izuka, who patted him on the shoulder. "That was really good!"

"Thanks. Aizawa sort of blew through introductions. I'm Kijiri."

"Izuka Midoriya." Izuka smiled. "Your quirk is amazing."

"Thanks! It took a while to get it under control." The boy smiled.

"Midoriya and Kosei."

Izuka waved to Kijiri and got into place. The boy across from her bowed. Izuka did the same, before leaping back as Kosei attacked.

The ground where Izuka had been standing erupted, spraying rubble across the ground.

"A dangerous quirk you have there!" Izuka grinned. "You need a bit more control!"

The young man stomped, causing magma to flow up from the cracks in the ground. Izuka ran forward and grabbed the back of her opponents head, before quickly driving him into the ground and knocking him out cold.

"Well done." Aizawa nodded.

The lesson continued, wth spars going well into the afternoon. Finally, Aizawa ended class, nodding at each student.

"You all need work. But you aren't terrible. We'll do spars again next week. In the meantime, keep working on your own fighting styles and quirk control."

Izuka smiled as she walked back to the locker room and changed.

After meeting Mustad outside, Izuka and the Young man drove to the subway station. Mustard bid a goodnight to Izuka as he boarded the subway car. The young man smiled and waved until Izuka was out of sight.

'She's too sweet. I can't wait to be heroes with her.'

Izuka was having a similar train of thought as she drove back home.

'He's so incredible… I wonder what's for dinner?'

The young woman pulled into the Bakugo garage, before walking into the house.

"So? How was the first day?" Mitsuki smiled.

"Incredibly fun! I know I'm going to learn a lot!"

"Good. I'm so proud of you." Mitsuki said.

"We're so proud of you." Masaru nodded.

"Katsuki is staying at Kirishima's with his friends tonight. We were wondering if you wanted to go out to eat? Maybe talk about your first day?"

Izuka nodded. "Sure! Where were you thinking?"

"There's a Mediterranean place on Konami street." Masaru suggested.

"Uncle Masaruuuu, You know I'm a sucker for greek foooood." Izuka whined.

"Well, looks like it's already decided. I was going to suggest Thai myself…"

Izuka drooled at the promise of good food in either option.

"H-how about we go for Thai with Katsuki tomorrow? You know he likes the spices." Masru suggested.

"You're right, of course. I'm craving some souvlaki now anyways."

Izuka nodded and went to get ready, quickly showering and combing her hair before pulling on a nice dress.

"Oh, you're so pretty…" Mitsuki smiled. "You should've invited that young man! Mustard, right?"

Izuka blushed. "Auntieeeeee!"

"Okay okay! I won't pick on you anymore. Just please invite me to the wedding."

"AUNTIE!"

Mitsuki cackled as she jumped in the shower.

After a half an hour, the trio left their house and walked to a local restaurant. Izuka ordered a plate of Moussaka while Mitsuki ordered her Souvlaki. Masaru ordered Kleftiko and rubbed his hands in delight when his plate was brought out.

"So, what were your professors like?" Masaru asked before taking a bite of his food.

"Well, Ectoplasm is kinda boring, but maybe that's just because I finished college level geometry…" Izuka shrugged. "Power Loader is pretty nice. He gave me a challenge to completely engineer five quirk gadgets by the end of the term."

"Woah. Sounds like he knows how to get you going!" Mitsuki smiled.

"Well I get that from you guys. Nothing fires a Bakugo up like a good challenge." Izka grinned, before taking a bite of her own food.

"How is Mustard?"

"He's really good! Excited to be in the hero course. We have two classes together and he's breezing through the material."

Masaru nodded. "He's a keeper then."

"Oh please not you too." Izuka groaned.

"I kid, I kid!"

Izuka nodded. "You better be! I am an adult and am allowed to make my own decisions!"

Mitsuki snickered. "Just as long as those decisions don't lead to a surprise in nine months."

"Auntie!" Izuka hissed.

Mitsuki covered her mouth to quiet her laugh.

"I'm sorry. We're terrible. Well, what about your other classes?"

Izuka nodded. "We did some sparring today after lunch. I lost two of my spars, but won my first four. It was fun."

"Good. I'm glad you're doing this sweetie." Mitsuki smiled.

"I am too. I never thought I'd get this far…" Izuka shook her head.

"We did! In fact, we still think that you'll change the world one day!" Masaru smiled. "We're rooting for you all the way!"

Izuka smiled. "Well, what about you? How was your day?"

"Finished up three new designs! Mitsuki's been doing incredible as my model. Also, I doubled the pay of the workers in the mall."

Izuka nodded. "They definitely deserve it."

"That they do, and we have the money to cover it!" Mitsuki nodded. "After they watched Katsuki and his friends during the mall attack, I was incredibly grateful! They all do their best and are incredibly kind to everyone."

Izuka nodded. "They helped me get Ashido, the pink girl, a few quirk proof outfits."

"Oh that girl is too sweet for her own good. She's trying to get Katsuki signed up for dance classes, along with the rest of them!"

Izuka chuckled. "Good, they need it! Katsuki could stand to learn a bit more freestyle movement instead of his mr boom boom man walk."

Mitsuki giggled. "I can't imagine his face if someone called him that."

"I can! He'd probably start cruising up a storm!" Masaru laughed.

Izuka smiled. "Honestly… I can't wait to see them go to hero school."

"One things for sure," Masaru nodded. "They'll be a handful. How about a toast?"

"To hard work and valuable lessons?" Izuka suggested.

"And to your first day! Cheers!" Mitsuki grinned, clinking her glass.

"Cheers!"

And there's chapter thirteen! We'll have a few more classes to cover before things get a hint darker. I enjoy playing around with these characters for the time being.
