RWBY: The Verdant Light of Remnant

Chapter 2: A Proposition from the King

Author's Note: Hey guys, real quick, i know you guys probably noticed by the last chapter, but i'm gonna spice things up & expand on the story of RWBY a bit. There are so many Isekai RWBY crossovers that barely change outside of what the Isekai character does or gets involed in, so i wanted to do somthing a little different. I hope you guys can understand that as i continue writing this.

But before ANYONE asks: NO! This is NOT a replacement for "IMPROVING/REBOOTING RWBY", I don't wanna read ANY of that bullshit in the comments, take that crap somewhere else, got it?! Good! Anyways, as usual.

The following is a non-profit Alternate Universe fanfiction.

RWBY is owned by Rooster Teeth, Warner Bros. & the late Monty Oum. While Fire Emblem: Three Houses is owned by Nintendo, Intelligent Systems & Koei Tecmo. Please support the original release.

Also, major spoilers for both RWBY & Fire Emblem: Three Houses, specifically the Verdant Wind Route. If you haven't caught up with either of them, it's recommended that you catch up with both of them before reading this story.

& On that note, enjoy this chapter.

The Kingdom Capital of Vale is the largest city in the nation, housing up to around 2 million citizens. On a fancy restaurant were a pair of individuals who are very influential to both the Kingdom & its respective Huntsmen Academy: Beacon. Those individuals were Glynda Goodwitch: A Pro Huntress who decided to work as both a teacher & secretary for Beacon Academy as well as being one of the 3 Generals of Vale, which are only given to the current King/Headmaster's 3 most loyal & powerful Huntsmen & Huntresses that worked under him. In the case of Glynda, she was The Mage General of Vale thanks to her powerful Semblance of telekinesis & always having that regal, majestic flare that you'd normally see in powerful Spellcasters. While she's well-known for being both an amazing Huntress & teacher, she has a bit of infamy due to her "strict nature" where she takes everything seriously, follows all of the rules & expects her pupils to do the same or so help her & anyone who's unlucky enough to get so much on her bad side has had a meeting with her after class alongside her trusted ridding crop she uses as a magical wand & as a punisher, aptly named: The Disciplinarian.

Glynda herself could only be described in one word in terms of appearance: Gorgeous! She has very light-blonde hair tied back in a bun with a curl hanging down the right side of her face, her eyes are bright green and she wears thin ovular glasses & dangling teal earrings that match the hanging pendant on her collar. She wears a white long-sleeved, pleated top that has a wide keyhole neckline that reveals her cleavage quite a lot, quickly showing off her large bust size & gauntlet cuffs that flare in pleats at the wrist. Her lower body is covered by a black high-waisted pencil skirt with bronze buttons and black fading into brown stockings. She wears black boots with bronze heels and a cape that is purple inside and black on the outside, the cut of the cape is stylized to end in flames and arrows, with a row of diamond-shaped bronze beads on the back. Above this line is her emblem, a golden tiara & despite her "age", Glynda is still incredibly beautiful.

The other individual in question was his majesty himself: Ozpin, the current King of Vale & the Headmaster of Beacon academy. Unlike Glynda, Ozpin appears to be very kind, stoic, humble, collective & overall, a pretty chill guy. But it's clear as day that he sends out an aroma that just screams "Okay, this guy has seen some shit & he has the experience to back it up". Ozpin is always looking those for potential to become great warriors in hopes of creating a world where all can live in harmony.

Ozpin looks very young for his supposed age & has short, tousled silver hair, but if his dark eyebrows are anything to go by, it might suggest that he may have had dark hair when he was younger, he wears shaded glass spectacles and a small, purple, cross-shaped pin on the cowl around his neck. His outfit mainly consists of an unzipped black suit over a dark green, buttoned vest & green shirt. He also wears black trouser shoes and long, dark-green pants. In addition to his cane, his other frequent accessory is a mug bearing the Beacon Academy emblem, from which he drinks coffee & hot cocoa, both of which are made by her secretary & right-hand lady: Glynda.

The both of them are sitting on a VIP Room where they're waiting for their guest, Ruby Rose. Ozpin has been looking after both Ruby & her older sister from the shadows & after witnessing a Grimm Invasion on Patch that was quickly & effectively dealt with by just Ruby herself, he wanted to meet her in person, so he invited her on a dinner to "chat" with her. It's been a few minutes since the time of their meeting has passed, meaning that she'd come late by just a few minutes. While Ozpin isn't bothered by this, the same cannot be said by Glynda who's starting to lose her patience a little bit.

Glynda: This is just ridiculous, how in the bloody hell can someone who's supposably fast enough to break the sound barrier at full capacity be so late?

Ozpin: Glynda, 5 minutes isn't that late. Moreover, we came 15 minutes early, so we're partially to blame for having to wait a few extra minutes that won't matter that much.

Glynda just sighs as she begins to calm down.

Glynda: You're right, Your Majesty, my apologies… I'm just worried on what you will do to this young girl when she does arrive. You do remember what happened the last time something like this happened, do you not?

Ozpin looks down somberly as he looked as his reflection through his coffee.

Ozpin: I will never forget…

Ruby's deceased mother: Summer Rose was not only one of - if not – The greatest huntress of the last generation, but also one of Ozpin's closest friends. Even to this day, he curses himself for not being able to save her friend & he'll be damned if he won't make sure the same doesn't happen to her child as well. Unfortunately for the both of them, their quiet moment was interrupted when they suddenly saw a giant beam of light showing in-front of the restaurant they were at right out of freaking nowhere.

The scene then changes back to where we last left off, with Ruby & Byleth making eye contact with one another. From Byleth's perspective, Ruby appears to be a small, cute, yet oddly cool looking young girl. As for Ruby's point of view, she sees a young woman with a very "well developed" body with a small girl next to her that looks to be very sassy for some reason. The mood is silent until Sothis suddenly breaks the silence & pretty much does what Sothis does best, screw everything up.

Sothis: So~… Is it safe to assume that you're Ruby Rose?

Ruby suddenly looks shocked that a young little girl who appeared out of freaking nowhere somehow knows her name. Ruby has become popular thanks to quelling a Grimm Invasion in her home island, yes! But she's not THAT famous yet. Byleth on the other hand just facepalms from what her partner just said. For a supposed goddess that supposably knows everything, Sothis wasn't exactly good at being subtle when she needs to be, they're supposed to keep the fact that they somehow know Ruby's name before meeting her in person a secret & Sothis just screwed it up. But Ruby still answers her question in a polite manner.

Ruby: Uh~… Yes, that's my name… But how do you know that & who are you guys?

Byleth now knowing that they were pretty much forced to introduce themselves if they both wanted to get out of this incredibly awkward situation without any trouble.

Byleth: Um… A pleasure to meet you, my name is Byleth Eisner.

Ruby slowly got up & lowered her guard, not feeling any hostility from Byleth, while still not fully believing in Byleth's explanation. Having both an uncle & an older sister who constantly get themselves into trouble & try to lie about it has that effect on you, I suppose… For better or worse.

Ruby: I see… Then who's the sassy small child next to you, your little sister?

Sothis was rather insulted by that comment of the young reaper & was about to mouth her senselessly. But before she could say anything, Byleth quickly kneeled down to her level & put a hand over her mouth, preventing her from speaking.

Byleth: Y- Yes! She's my little sister alright, her name is Sothis Eisner. Pardon her rude behavior, she's a rather rambunctious & troublemaking girl.

Ruby: Oh, okay then. Nice to meet you Byleth, you too Sothis. I'm Ruby, Ruby Rose! *Looks away embarrassed* Although, the 2 of you knew that already, so~…

Ruby just shrugs it off as she starts looking at the beautiful starts above. as Ruby's momentarily looking away, Byleth takes this chance to whisper to Sothis about what she was about to say.

Byleth: {Listen Sothis, we can't tell these people who we really are & you especially can't say that you're a goddess, everyone here will either think we're crazy at best or they'll have us hunted down & arrested at worse! We just got here & I'm not gonna let our second chance in life being ruined already, so for now just go along with you being my sister & DON'T cause too much trouble for us, understand?}

While Sothis wanted to scold Byleth for speaking to her like that, she wasn't exactly wrong. She almost screwed things up twice in a row for them, so against her better judgement, she reluctantly nods before Byleth let her go & looked back at Ruby. who keeps looking around the place until Byleth catches her attention by clearing her throat all of the sudden.

Byleth: Anyways, what brings you out here? It's not every day that a little girl just runs around the streets of the big city all by herself this late at night.

Ruby then gets pale as a ghost as she remembers why she was there in the first place; she starts to panic like her own life is at risk.

Ruby: Ah Crapbaskets! I almost forgot about my meeting, I better head inside before-

Glynda: "Before" what?

Ruby squeaks as she heard Glynda's voice, who both herself & his majesty were right behind Byleth, wanting to know about that sudden beam of light from up close. While Ozpin was faintly smiling at the situation, Glynda was what can be described as "Quiet Fury" as she starts marching towards the young reaper with the intent of scolding her.

Glynda: You got a lot of nerve coming late for a meeting from his majesty, young lady. You should be honored that someone like you could be at his presence, yet you can't even accomplish the basic task of arriving at your destination in time?

Ruby was quivering in fear as Glynda looked down at her & scolded her like an angry mother scolding her child… & Considering that Glynda's also well known for her tough, but gentle motherly side, this is quite fitting.

Ruby: Uh-… I'm so sorry ma'am, it wasn't my intention to come here late! You see, there was a dust robbery & the police force were having trouble, so I thought of maybe intervening & helping them ou-

Glynda: You did WHAT?!

Ruby's "excuse" made Glynda even angrier, with the former appropriately responding with getting even more afraid by putting her arms up in a defensive position as she looks away with her eyes shut, not wanting to make eye contact with the furious secretary. Not only has this girl arrived late for a meeting with her own King, but also put herself & others in danger in trying to play hero? Oh yeah, this girl is in so much trouble right now!

As Byleth watches Glynda angrily scolding Ruby & sweats nervously, Ozpin catches her attention by clearing his throat. Byleth looks back & sees the King himself in person, she doesn't know why, but he felt that his presence was oddly similar to Rhea's, she definitely can't play around with this individual.

Ozpin: Ah, my apologies for staring at you. It's just that this is the first time I've seen 2 individuals such as yourselves… Please allow me to introduce myself: I am Ozpin, the Headmaster of Beacon Academy & the King of Vale, it is a pleasure to meet you both.

Sothis: A King, huh?... Never thought that a King would look so… Normal! N- no offense, however.

Ozpin: Non taken young child, you're not the only one who's made that comment.

Byleth: I see… Anyways, I'm Byleth Eisner & this is my little sister: Sothis Eisner. We're traveling mercenaries… Who just so happen to have suddenly appeared in this city out of thin air…

Ozpin looks at the duo cautiously, he doesn't fully believe what they were saying & they're definitely hiding something. Although Ozpin himself isn't one to judge others for keeping secrets given his reputation about the topic, so he tries to gain the trust of these individuals the slow & steady way.

Ozpin: I see… Do either of you remember the last thing it happened before you suddenly came here from that giant beam of light?

Both Byleth & Sothis shake their heads in response.

Ozpin: I see… Glynda!

Ruby is thankfully saved from Glynda's wrath since the latter was called by Ozpin.

Glynda: Yes, Your Majesty?

Ozpin: Something tells me that these 2 have nowhere to go, so for the time being, why don't we let them tag along for a while?

This action shocks everyone involved, the king just invited 2 strangers who he just met for dinner. Glynda is clearly not okay with this idea, but knowing the king, she doesn't try to argue against him & his stubborn nature.

Glynda: *Sighs* No matter how much I try, I can never make you think logically… Very well Your Majesty, now then… Shall we get going, the food probably arrived while we were out here.

As soon as Glynda said that, Ruby's stomach growled loudly, making her look away blushing while laughing nervously.

Ruby: Heheheheheh… Guess we were outside for quite a while, huh?

Byleth's stomach growled literally the next second. But unlike the red-haired reaper, she doesn't show any reaction from it. Although it doesn't stop Sothis from shooting a faint smirk at her "Big Sister". Come to think of it, Sothis has never eaten before as far as she knew, so this will be a brand-new experience for her… Only for her own stomach to growl as she thinks of that, now it was her turn to blush sheepishly.

Ozpin: *Chuckles lightly* I see that you girls are quite hungry. Not to worry however, since the food of this restaurant is quite remarkable.

Byleth: A restaurant, huh?... That's oddly convenient. *Looks at Ozpin* Alright, we're in. It's been a while since either of us have had anything good to eat.

The scene fades back inside of the restaurant, mainly the table The King & his secretary were sitting at. Ruby was eating some ramen as well as some sweets, mainly chocolate chip cookies. Byleth however was eating meat, many kinds of meat in-fact. Sothis was eating some stew & unlike the former 2 who ate like animals, Sothis ate her meal with proper class & discipline. Ozpin is pleased that 2 of his 3 guests are eating to their hearts content, much to Glynda's displeasure. Just as she suspected, the red-haired reaper has next to no manners & this newcomer wasn't much better, to think that the small child would be the one with actual table manners.

Ozpin: Now then, shall we begin with the reason I requested you to come, Ms. Rose?

Ruby looks awkwardly at Ozpin before swallowing her food & using a handkerchief to wipe off any strains of food in her mouth.

Ruby: Y- Yes, your majesty. Where would you like to start?

Ozpin then takes out a device that appears to be some form of holographic cellphone & places down on the table, he turns a video on that shows the recent Grimm Invasion on Patch a few days ago. On that video, we see Ruby killing the Grimm with little effort & just hacking & slashing them all down like a killing machine, alongside a young woman with blond hair fighting alongside her.

Ozpin: In case you're not aware, I keep a few small, flying cameras around my Kingdom so that I can keep an eye on it & when I saw a small child slashing away hordes of Grimm like a professional warrior, I wanted to meet that small child in person. Little did I know that once I've done some "research" on you, you would be the same infant I have met 15 years ago. You've grown a lot, Ruby Rose.

That last revelation shocked Ruby, apparently the king has seen her as a newborn child in the past? That made her very curious.

Ruby: Wait, we've met before? I recall my dad saying that an old friend of his came to bring his blessings after my birth, that was you?

Ozpin: That is correct, Ms. Rose. Both of your parents, your uncle & myself were friends for a very long time. I still remember how happy your mother was when she gave birth to you, I've never seen her so happy.

Ruby: *Blushes a little while keeping an innocent* Oh, stop! You're embarrassing me…

Ozpin: But given your phenomenal skill a Scythe, it's easy to assume that your Uncle: Qrow Branwen was your teacher, am I right?

Ruby: Yes, Your Majesty. I've been training with my uncle since I was 8 years old, the training had a rough start, but I eventually got there. It also helps that my Semblance allows me to move at higher speeds. My dad on the other hand trained my older sister: Yang Xiao-Long, she's no pushover either.

Ozpin then suddenly gets serious as he drops his soft smile & looks at Ruby dead in the eye, something that the reaper takes noticed immediately.

Ozpin: I've noticed. While your sister is certainly very powerful, your sudden change of attitude when you fought those Grimm is what has caught my attention. I have not seen someone with such capabilities like your own in a very long time… Or perhaps I should say "something."

Ozpin the takes out his scroll from the pocket, letting the girls watch a previous recording. It shows Ruby is all alone at the snow-covered forest with many dozens of Beowolves surrounding her, with Ruby herself looking completely different than the adventure loving, child-like & selfless reaper that we're familiar with.

Ozpin: When I saw you fight the Creatures of Grimm, I have seen something equivalent of a trained assassin. No openings, no wasted movement, no hesitation, no anger, no sadness, no remorse, no second guessing, not even any honor, or mercy. Someone who didn't express any form of emotion on the battlefield…. You were nothing short of a coldblooded killing machine who cut down the Creatures of Grimm with brutal efficiency. Decapitations, dismemberments, beating them to death, blowing their heads off with your sniper rounds & many more… It truly sent a shiver down my spine, I've seen my fair share of efficient Grimm neutralizers, but you're on a whole different level entirely.

As Ruby looked at her reflection from her cup of coffee with a somber, yet conflicted expression on her face, Byleth looks at the young reaper with shock from what the Headmaster had just said about her.

Byleth: (A Being who kills their enemies without any shred of emotion?! This small girl, a killing machine?!... She's not so different from me back when I was a mercenary working for my father before I joined the Officers Academy. Ruby looks like a simple & adorable girl with high inspirations, but for some reason, I sense a deep, inner darkness that slumbers within herself. It's not so different from when I first met Dimitri.)

Ruby: *Takes a deep breath before answering with a rather fake sounding voice* I was only protecting the people of my homeland; I don't see that as any different from a Huntsman doing his job as a guardian of the people.

Ozpin: That's not all, from what I've seen from the cameras of the Kingdom Capital just now, I thought I would see "that" side of yours once again. When you confronted Roman Torchwick, you were after him for committing robbery & indirect murder. "That man has just put innocents in danger & now this newcomer has come to eliminate him for his crimes", that's what Glynda & I have thought… Ya'know honestly, I was kinda scared for his life. You challenged him into a fight & dueled with him & some of his men, for a second, I believed that you'd go to the ends of Remnant to stop them. But what ended up happening instead? You let the threat get away with their stolen loot so that you could save a couple of injured policemen from getting crushed by Roman's "Warm Parting Gift". That really threw me off guard & in the fight itself, you were just toying with those men, you were having fun fighting them off.

Ruby: *Looks back at Ozpin* Well… Killing those thugs wasn't my intention & I wanted to make sure no more lives were taken away, which is why I saved those cops instead of trying to go after Roman… But I'd hardly call that fight as me "Playing". My technique was specifically developed for killing monsters, not people. Are you implying that there's something wrong with that?

Glynda looks rather triggered from the tone that Ruby used to speak with the King, but Ozpin held out an arm to stop her from saying anything as he looked at Ruby with a tender smile.

Ozpin: Not at all, Ms. Rose. If anything, I'm very pleased that you have such a high moral standing. That's the quality of being a true Huntress. Like you said it yourself, Huntsmen are guardians, not killers! The fact that you value preserving life more than stopping a potential threat from getting away is proof of that.

This made Ruby have a small smile on her face & feel a little better about herself, which makes Byleth smile as well.

Ozpin: Now then, let me ask you. Why exactly do you want to become a Huntress? Surely you know that this is a very dangerous lifestyle, especially for someone so young like yourself. So tell me, what are your reasons for taking this path?

Ruby: The answer is simple: I wanna help people. I wanna be a symbol of comfort for those who live in fear of the Grimm or anyone who would want to disturb their peace, I fight to help those in need, with the only thing wanting & return is being able to see them live their lives happy & free. I want to create a world where everyone is free to forge their own path in life & live the way they want to live, free from any shackles that hold them down. That's the promise I made to myself… to her…

Ruby looks down at her hood & holds it tightly, the emblem that holds her hood is the last thing she has from her mother apart from her Silver Eyes. Fully satisfied with the answer, Ozpin smiles at the young reaper's devotion to become a Huntress. "Just like her mother" he thought to himself, Glynda is also pleased with the answer, even if she doesn't physically show it. Sothis is concerned at the young reaper, worried that she might be biting more than she can chew, but even she couldn't deny that Ruby's resolve made the young reaper earn the respect of the small goddess.

Byleth on the other hand was pleased at the young reaper's answer, that determination reminded Byleth of some of her students, mainly Raphael Kirsten, who wanted to become a knight so that he can watch over his little sister, his only remaining family left after their parents died in an accident. Raphael was only known for having a huge appetite & being a very strong, well-trained individual, yet his resolve to become a knight made him earned both the respect & admiration of the Ashen Demon.

Sothis: My, for someone so young, you're sure determined enough to take on such a dangerous lifestyle. Unfortunately for you, the world isn't a fairy tale. Nobody gets a happily ever after, it's not all that simple like many people think it is.

Ruby isn't mad at Sothis' comment since she agreed, voicing her opinion while giving Sothis a soft, yet confident smile.

Ruby: Well, that's why I'm here… To make it better.

That response made Ozpin & Byleth even happier, as well as making Sothis smile at the young reaper.

Ozpin: Well then, if that's your reasons then I guess I'll just get straight to the point. Ms. Rose, would you like to enroll at Beacon Academy?

Ruby: *Nods* Yes, I do. This is the same Academy my parents went to become who they are now & it's the only Huntsmen Academy I will go to become a Huntress!

Ozpin: Well, what if I told you that I could get you into Beacon Academy right now?

This revelation shocked the 3 guests, Ruby especially. She was still 2 years away from graduating from Signal Academy, a combat school at her home island of Patch. Her older sister Yang has already graduated last semester & has already passed the entrance exam required to get into Beacon Academy without any issue. Needless to say, hearing that Ruby herself could enter Beacon Academy alongside her sister via recommendation by the Headmaster himself was shocking to say the least.

Ruby: Wait, what?! You can do that? But I haven't graduated at Signal yet.

Glynda looked away unpleased, knowing that this was going to happen sooner or later. Why else would the King of Vale bother to request a meeting with a young girl below the age required to enter the greatest Huntsmen Academy in the World of Remnant?

Ozpin: Yes, that is correct Ms. Rose, but may I remind you that something similar has happened to your Mother as well? Heck, she didn't even attend a combat school prior to enrolling at Beacon Via recommendation.

Ruby looks down for a moment to think a little bit. The King was correct, Summer has indeed enrolled at Beacon at an earlier age as well according to her Father & Uncle. So after some thinking, she looks back at Ozpin with a determined expression on her face.

Ruby: Alright Your Majesty, I accept your offer!

Ozpin smiles cheerfully as he extends his hand to the young reaper, who happily shakes it in return.

Ozpin: In that case, it's an honor to have you. The initiation starts in tomorrow, so I suggest you're well rested for the opening ceremony.

Ruby: *Nods confidently* I won't let you down Your Majesty, you have my word.

Ozpin: Good. Now then, since it's getting pretty late, I believe that this is a good time for us to depart. You're free to go Ms. Rose & do not worry about the check, I already have that covered.

Ruby then gets up after finishing her food & wiping off any strains of food from her mouth with a handkerchief.

Ruby: Thank you, that helps a lot. But what about these 2? *Points at both Byleth & Sothis* Are they supposed to stick around or what?

Ozpin: There are some things that I wish to speak with them about. But worry not, they're in good hands… Oh & Glynda, make sure the young lady is back home safe.

Glynda sighs tiredly, knowing that he'd want to talk with these 2 strangers in private & knowing the King as well as she does, she knew that he wants to offer them something as well.

Glynda: Yes, Your Majesty. I'll call a bullhead right away to escort us back to Patch.

Ruby flinches & sweats nervously that the woman who was scolding her earlier is now gonna escort her back home & given their rather unnerving first meeting, Ruby knows that this right back home won't be all sunshine & rainbows.

Ruby: Well… Alright then, guess that's that! Byleth, Sothis, it's been nice meeting you both despite awkward circumstances, so I hope that we'll meet again soon.

Byleth: As do I, I look forward to see you again.

Sothis: Don't let any Grimm bite you on the way back, kiddo.

Ruby: *Shoots the 2 "sisters" a thumbs up & a wink* I won't, Sayonara!

Ruby leaves the restaurant alongside Glynda. Now that his main purpose of this meeting is dealt with, he focuses on the Ashen Demon & her "little sister".

Ozpin: Now then, back to you. May I ask you to say a little bit about yourselves?

Byleth looked at Ozpin with an expression that screams "I'm onto you!" She knew that she cannot screw up with this one, so she must answer his questions very carefully. The 2 "sisters" looked at each other & Sothis shot Byleth a nod, saying that she'll let her handle this matter, putting her trust at the Ashen Demon.

Byleth: Well for starters, We're orphans. Our mother passed away due to childbirth shortly after Sothis was born & we lost our father last year in a mission.

Ozpin: I see, my condolences to you both.

Byleth can feel faint tears forming in her eyes as she remembers the death of her Father: Jeralt Eisner, who she couldn't save despite her ability to wind back time for a brief moment. But she manages to put up a strong front as she wipes out the forming tears in her eyes.

Byleth: Thank you, Your Majesty... Even now, it still hurts... You see, our father was a traveling Huntsman, I learned how to fight from him. Sothis doesn't like to fight, so she was never trained in martial arts & swordsmanship like I was. However, our father wasn't a fan of Huntsmen Academies due to not liking the idea of "Raising child soldiers" & he only trained me since we needed a better chance to survive outside of the boarders of the 4 Kingdoms, which is why I've never attended a Huntsmen Academy in my life, or a combat school for that matter.

Byleth knew that a mercenary & a Huntsman was pretty much the same thing, so she thought that this would be a good way to disguise her father's true occupation & from the Headmaster's expression, it seems to have worked nicely.

Ozpin: Ah, so that means that you must be very skilled, correct? Tell me, what was your father's name?

Byleth: Our father wasn't a renowned Huntsman, he's not a fan of being around the public for long. His name is Jeralt Eisner: The Blade Breaker.

Ozpin: So your father is one of those people, I completely understand. Next question, that sword on your left hip. I've never seen a weapon like that before in my life.

Okay, now this is gonna be a little tough. She can't exactly say what the Sword of the Creator actually is, it's gonna screw everything up. But she's able to think of something to say about her legendary blade without revealing TOO MUCH about it. Byleth takes out her sword & shows it to the young King.

Byleth: This is "The Sword of The Creator". It's a weapon passed down by our mother's side of the family & it's extremely important to our lineage. It's a sword that can extend its blade like a chain-whip & only those from my bloodline can wield this sword properly.

Ozpin: Is it perhaps some form of "Cursed Weapon"?

Byleth looks at Ozpin surprised that he'd come to that conclusion, but she goes along with it as to not rouse any more suspicion that she might've already have.

Byleth: As a matter of fact, it is. But I do not know what the curse itself is, but my father made to never let anyone else lay a finger on it, let alone try to wield it. Since I greatly trust & respect my father, I listened to him & kept the sword with me at all times.

Ozpin: I see, I've heard tales & legends about cursed weapons, but I've never thought that they actually existed, truly a great discovery! Now then, one last question. How did you both ended up here?

Byleth puts her sword away & holds her head, as if she's having some sort of headache. Her plan is to deceive the young King that she doesn't remember what exactly happen.

Byleth: I… I can't quite remember… The last thing I remember before we got here was trying to get some rest after a hard day & next thing I knew, Sothis & I were suddenly sent here from the sky… My apologies, I don't have the best memory & neither does my little sister…

Ozpin knew that Byleth was lying, she couldn't fool him that easily. But having a cursed weapon & being skilled in combat gives him enough of a reason to play along for the moment. He knew that he has to earn someone else's trust & it doesn't take a genius to figure out that neither of the sisters trusted him & he doesn't blame them for it. Not to mention that having someone with a weapon as dangerous as The Sword of the Creator walk around Remnant, it could cause some serious disasters, especially if "she" gets involved. so right now, he wants to have these sisters kept under his watchful eye as much as possible, so he keeps playing along.

Ozpin: I understand… In that case, I shall not push it any further, but I do have a few more things to ask of you before I leave. Tell me Byleth, how old are you?

Byleth: I'm 21 Years old at the moment, Sothis is currently 14. We both share the same birthday, but with an exact 7-year gap: September 20th.

Ozpin: Ah, that's usually the age students graduate from the Huntsmen Academies & become full-fledged Huntsmen. So you're still very young, may I ask what do you intend to do now that you're here in Vale? I doubt that you would have a place to stay given that you're both travelers.

Byleth: I intend to leave alongside Sothis, we're broke at the moment, so we cannot stay at a local inn tonight. After that, just doing jobs as a Mercenary since I don't have an official Huntress license.

Ozpin: Is it not dangerous to travel around the world by yourself? Even more so by carrying such a dangerous weapon with you?

Byleth: I'm used with the risks involved… Are you perhaps offering us a place to stay?

Ozpin: You're quite clever, Ms. Eisner. Yes, I am indeed giving you a proposition of sorts. At first, I'd probably enroll you as a student just like I've done to Ms. Rose a moment prior, but it's clear that you do not need to become a student, I'm fairly confident that you're way too skilled to just be a simple student of a Huntsmen Academy, so I have thought of another proposition instead.

Byleth already knows where this is going. Just like Rhea, Ozpin most likely wants Byleth to be a teacher at his academy… Although in Rhea's case, she became a teacher in the Officer's Academy because of Alois giving Rhea a recommendation.

Byleth: Let me guess, you want me to become a professor at Beacon Academy, correct?

Ozpin is taken a back a bit, he has underestimated how intelligent the Ashen Demon is. But just to keep things from escalating, he keeps his usual calm & collected demeanor.

Ozpin: While yes, you are correct. How did you know that this is what I was gonna ask?

Byleth: I worked as a substitute caretaker on a church for about a Year due to one of them having a serious injury that took a long time to recover from.

Ozpin: Oh, I see! That's very interesting… So, will you accept this proposal of mine?

Byleth thought to herself for a moment, they needed somewhere to stay & this is probably the best shot they'll get. But as a teacher? Byleth doesn't want to think about it again, she believes that she has failed her students greatly & no longer has the right to become a professor again. But then she remembers what her 2 counterparts told her, Ruby needs guidance, she's gonna need help, Byleth's help! This is most likely the best chance she can watch over the reaper & her counterparts already proved that they weren't tricking her, they DID send both herself & Sothis to Remnant like they said it would after all, so she didn't doubt them again… For now, at least. She looks back at Sothis who reassured her, so after taking a deep breath, she looks back at Ozpin.

Byleth: Yes, Your Majesty. I'll gladly become a professor at Beacon Academy.

Ozpin smiled as he extended his hand to Byleth, who politely shakes it back. This was all according to his plan, now she can watch over the Ashen Demon & keep her away from any immediate danger for the moment.

Ozpin: Wonderful news Ms. Eisner. Do not worry about sleeping out in the woods for tonight, for I will provide you with a room for you to rest back at Beacon Academy.

Sothis: Wait, you will?! Thank you so much!

Byleth: Is there anything else you'd like to ask of us?

Ozpin: Not for tonight, no. I believe I got what I wanted & it's getting late, so I'll let you both rest the moment we arrive at Beacon Academy. I'll have a bullhead ready to pick us up in a minute.

Byleth: I see, thank you very much.

Ozpin smiles as he starts to pay the check & then calling over a bullhead.

Ozpin: (No, Ms. Eisner. It is I who should be thanking you. But don't get too comfortable, I'll keep a close eye on the both of you. I cannot let "her" take you & use you for her own gain. I can only hope that things don't go south very quickly.)

Their first night at Remnant went far better than either of them had expected. They met Ruby; they had a nice dinner & were even given a place to stay for the moment. Byleth will once again be a Teacher, as much as she feels like she doesn't deserve to be one after what happened at Garreg Mach Monastery. But she needs to play along for the moment if she wishes to have her journey in Remnant have a smooth start, so she'll suck up her issues for the moment. Sothis on the other hand is extremely worried about her partner & for good reason, she's going to have to play the role of moral & emotional support for this one. She sure as hell needs it given what happened before they "died."

Cut to the ship Ruby & Glynda are at, with the latter taking the former back home & despite the tension, it's not as bad as it seems… Aside from the awkward silence from the both of them. Thankfully for them (mostly Ruby) Glynda finally speaks up & asks our young heroine something.

Glynda: Tell me, how long have you been wanting to become a Huntress?

Ruby suddenly looks at Glynda with a confused look, curious to learn why she's all of the sudden acting nicer to her when she constantly got on her ass for her reckless behavior. But to make sure she doesn't get into trouble, she answers her.

Ruby: For as long as I can remember, I guess… Mom was always out there trying to save this broken world & make it a better place for everybody… Guess I just picked that up from her, ya'know?

Glynda gives Ruby a rather sad look before she comments on her response, all the while the image of Summer Rose appears in her mind as a sad smile grows on her face.

Glynda: {You really are your Mother's Daughter…}

Ruby's ears suddenly twitched as she heard Glynda talk in a very quiet tone, giving her a curious look & wondering what she said.

Ruby: Hm? What's that supposed to mean?

Glynda shakes her head before answering a very confused Ruby.

Glynda: Nothing important, pardon me. *Goes to Ruby* I hope you know the position you got yourself into, young lady. There aren't many who impressed His Majesty to the point that he gives them an offer such as this one. Think you're up for it?

Ruby's expression goes from one of innocent curiosity to someone who's very confident in their abilities. A small smirk grows on her face as she jabs a thumb at herself.

Ruby: "Think if I'm up for it"? I was born ready! You & Headmaster Ozpin can give me whatever you guys got, nothing's stopping me from doing what I gotta do!

A small smile grows on Glynda's face as she nods at Ruby's response.

Glynda: Good, that's what I like to hear.

Glynda then steps past Ruby & gets behind her as those words, all the while Ruby begins to feel both relieved, yet also overwhelmed. Relieved that this ride back home isn't as torturous as she first believed it would be, but also overwhelmed by the fact that she's going to Beacon Academy 2 years earlier & with her Big Sister no less. She feels like the weight of her shoulders suddenly got heavier… But despite those worries, a burning feeling of excitement grows inside of Ruby as she thinks about the future ahead… Only for said thoughts to come to a halt when Ruby suddenly feels a sharp pain in her butt.

- CRACK -

Ruby: OOOOHOHOOOOW~!

As Ruby was having her little internal moment, Glynda enhanced her ridding crop, Disciplinarian, with her Aura & swiftly bring it down to Ruby's butt with immense speed & force. Ruby staggers a bit as she holds onto her now burning butt, almost falling to her knees from suddenly getting a spanking from Glynda. She turns around with tears growing in her eyes while wondering what the hell was that about, only to suddenly flinch at Glynda giving her a very intimidating "Mom Glare".

Glynda: That was for your reckless & unacceptable behavior earlier this night, you may consider that a warning shot… Pull that sort of stunt again & I promise you that you won't be sitting down properly for an entire week! Do I make myself clear, young lady?!

Ruby suddenly feels a huge shiver run down at her spine as the thought of getting a truly serious spanking from Glynda runs through her head, hating the idea entirely from how painful it would be. She gulps nervously before answering Glynda's question.

Ruby: Y- Yes, ma'am!... I'm very sorry for earlier!

Glynda: You better, because I won't hold anything back if you cause us any more trouble!

Glynda emphasizes that pointing Disciplinarian right under Ruby's chin, making sure she gets the message & from the look of Ruby's expression, she most likely will… Ruby takes back what she was thinking earlier, this ride back home freaking sucks! Did Glynda have to suddenly spank her like that & with a ridding crop, no less?!... Well, at least it was about to end in a bit.

As for Glynda herself, she can't help but get this strange feeling that whatever Ozpin wants with those 2 girls will be something of great importance… & She doesn't like it one bit, knowing how reckless & foolish Ozpin can be at times. What will happen to the 2 "sisters" in the near future? Will Ruby be able to get into Beacon without any issues? Will Byleth find out about Ozpin's true intentions in the near future? Find out next time on RWBY: The Verdant Light of Remnant!

RWBY: The Verdant Light of Remnant - Chapter 2: A Proposition from the King - End.

Author's Notes: Okay, that's another one down. I know there's gonna be ALOT of questions about some of these changes in this chapter, so i'll discuss it in detail in the notes of next chapter, since i have some things i wanna say first.

For starters: my way of writing & how it's written like a script. i already read some comments about it, so let me address this right now so that i won't have to repeat myself. I'm EXTREMELY new to fanfiction & writing in general. or rather, i'm new to writing stories in a novel like format. i've been a writer at school plays during my days in high school & this is the way how i usually write it, so because of these reason, i had to write these chapters in this way instead. Hopefully i can get more experience write how fanfics & novels are USUALLY written, but please understand that i won't be able to do it over night, i'm not very quick at adapting in new stuff.

& Second: writing that converstation between Byleth & Ozpin was SUCH a PAIN IN THE ASS! It was EXTREMELLY difficult to do that conversation with the restrictions both sides had to hold on. In Byleth's case, she's from a different world, while for Ozpin, he's literally RWBY's version of Jesus Christ. Needless to say, i had a hard time making this conversation until i finally got satisfied with the version i ended up with.

Anyways, i hope you guys enjoyed this chapter & i sure as hell know that the NEXT one won't be as bad since i won't have to do anything on the level of that conversation with Byleth & Ozpin for a LONG time, so i'm safe for the moment. Thank you guys for reading, this has been Remnant Bardock & until next time, have a wonderful day my friends.

Edit: Before anyone asks about that last scene being necessary, the answer is yes! Yes, it was. Ruby can't really go around do what she does & not expect SOMETHING to come back to make her face the consequences in some way... She should be grateful Glynda was merciful enough to only give her a "Warning Shot" as she puts it. But yeah, no major changes outside of that for this one & it's likely i won't change the chapters all that much, but i might go back & do something with them in the near future. Anyways, that's it for me! This has been Remnant Bardock & until next time, have a wonderful day my friends.
