Chapter Four: What Is Happening?
Or
What Can We Do?
The Pipers and Caliban are back home, with the latter keeping a constant gaze on his surroundings. Before they can enter the house, though, Aggie runs out of the door, along with Gwen, both of whom are worried.
"Oh, my god, are you all ok? We heard that a member of Ars had broken through the barrier, and we didn't know what they were doing. They didn't attack you, or anything, did they?" Gwen asks, anxiously looking over the group.
"Ah, they're alright. A bit shaken, sure, but they're safe. Come inside, and tell us what happened." Aggie says, ushering everyone into the house. Aggie begins making tea, while the young adults are sitting in the dining room, waiting to be asked questions.
"So… who wants to explain?" Gwen asks, looking at the group.
"I will. As you heard, already, a cultist broke through. She's a troll named Demona. She was giving you all a 'warning', to stay out of their affairs. As for me, she wanted to … restate that they're going to take me back, as their prisoner." Caliban says, summarizing the entire situation.
"When you say 'prisoner', do you mean Halloweentown's prison? I thought that they were…. You know…." Sophie asks.
"That was my second prison, following my father's death. The Ars Demonicum broke me out of there, though, and continued to torture me. More harshly that the residents did, too….. Anyways, I managed to escape, eventually, and ended up where Miss Marnie and Miss Sophie found me."
"So what are we going to have to do?" Sophie asks, tentatively.
"To put it simply: Train. Learn. Fight. That's the only option our enemies will give us. There is no peace to be found while they still walk free…." He says, causing the room to go into a tense disquiet.
"Well, I daresay we've talked about all this enough for the night. I'm going to get started on dinner. Gwen, will you help me?" Aggie says, breaking the tension after a few seconds.
A/N: Sorry I haven't been able to update what apparently is my best story, judging by the number of views and likes/follows. Been dealing with a lot, and I honestly didn't know what else to write. As I'm typing this, I've been unable to sleep for the last 4 days, so I apologize if the quality isn't as up to par as earlier chapters, and that it's a bit short. Also decided to go with a slightly different approach with the plot, as evidenced by the title change. Anyways, let me now what you think.
