RWBY: The Verdant Light of Remnant

Chapter 16: A Nice Day to Spread Your Wings

Author's Notes: Ok, i originally wanted to release this chapter some time LAST week instead of now, but i had some video editing to deal with, i went back to my art a bit & writing this chapter was a bit of a struggle from how SLOW it was going. Thankfully it's here now, so that's neat.

Before we begin, i'd like to take a moment to give my blessings to the deceased Monty Oum, who died at February 1st, 2015, yesterday marked 7 years since that horrible & unfair event in our lives. I technically finished this chapter yesterday, which WAS Monty Oum's "Death Day" so to say, but i couldn't release it yet since it was pretty late on my end. Even still, consider this chapter a "celebration" of sorts & why RWBY's still going strong even after he's been long dead. I thank you all for your patince & support, my love & condolences for CRWBY, The Oum Family (Especially you Neath Oum, you're amazing!) & Thank you Monty Oum, we still love you. Now without anymore delay, let's get started!

The following is a non-profit Alternate Universe fanfiction.

RWBY is owned by Rooster Teeth, Warner Bros. & the late Monty Oum. While Fire Emblem: Three Houses is owned by Nintendo, Intelligent Systems & Koei Tecmo. Please support the original release.

Also, major spoilers for both RWBY & Fire Emblem: Three Houses, specifically the Verdant Wind Route. If you haven't caught up with either of them, it's recommended that you catch up with both of them before reading this story.

& On that note, enjoy this chapter.

The Garnet Papillons began licking their wounds after their chaotic battle with Demonic Beast Cardin, finally being able to put that battle to rest. Jaune was allowed to stay in Beacon Academy & even Ozpin himself congratulated the young Arc in his bravery & willingness to fight back, even when it might not end well for him. As for Jaune himself, he was able to make amends with his comrades & apologize to them. Now that they're focusing on resting, most of them begin to think on how to spend their time before their first big mission as The Garnet Papillons in about 2 weeks' time, what adventures await them this time? Find out all & more now…

We begin today's tale in the Dormroom's training grounds where Jaune & Pyrrha are practicing swordsmanship, mostly to help Jaune catch up a bit. while Jaune is clearly struggling, he's slowly getting better. For one, he finally forms a better battle stance. Pyrrha steps away for a moment before charging straight at Jaune with her practice sword, but Jaune is able to block the incoming attack in time in spite of being pushed back by the impact from Pyrrha's attack. Jaune then grips the practice sword tightly & swings it at Pyrrha, to which she parries the incoming attack & disarms Jaune. That counterattack surprises Jaune & gives Pyrrha the opportunity to push him down & have her practice sword pointing at his neck, giving her the win.

Pyrrha: Heh, another win for me.

Jaune rubs the back of his head while groaning a bit as he slowly gets back up.

Jaune: Oh, come on! How did you do that so quickly? I thought I had you this time!

Pyrrha: Many years of practice & experience for one. I've been fighting for as long as I can remember, both against the Grimm & other people.

Pyrrha puts the practice sword to the side to help Jaune get back up, to which he obliges as he takes her hand & is pulled back to his feet.

Pyrrha: But there's also your predictability. Your movements are too easy to get a read on & by extension, easy to get around them & take you out.

Jaune: *Blushes* Really? Guess I never gave that much thought in how I fight…

Pyrrha: *Giggles* Now, now, don't be like that. Now that we're training together to help you catch up, we can find your own fighting style. One step at a time, alright?

Jaune: Y- yeah!... One step at a time.

Jaune looks away blushing while having a soft smile on his face. It's barely even been a day since he apologized to his friends & now, Pyrrha is training him. She didn't have to go to such lengths just to help him out, but he can never truly say no to such a wonderful young woman like Pyrrha. As Pyrrha is cracking her neck to make it feel less stiff, she notices both Byleth & Sothis coming towards their direction.

Pyrrha: Jaune, I think we'll put our training to a pause for the moment. We got visitors.

Jaune: Huh? *Looks at Byleth & Sothis* Oh- Hey Prof. Eisner! How can we help you?

Byleth: I was just wondering what you kids were doing here. When I went to check on you guys on your quarters, Ren said that you guys got up early & went training for a bit.

Jaune blushes while looking away & scratching the back of his head.

Jaune: Is that so? Well- the more accurate way of phrasing it is that Pyrrha is training me & helping me find my footing in battle…

Pyrrha tilts her head back at Jaune while smiling softly.

Pyrrha: He's quite persistent, I'll give him that. *Looks back at Byleth* But back to you, is there something you wish to tell us?

Sothis: Yup! We just came back from a meeting with the Old Man about us taking a break for us to properly recover from what happened yesterday; but when we talked to him about it, he said that he was already thinking of that beforehand.

Jaune & Pyrrha are surprised by that statement, looks like Ozpin was one step ahead of them yet again… Although, Pyrrha sighs in disappointment from hearing Sothis call Ozpin "Old Man…" As if having Nora being disrespectful to their elders wasn't enough.

Jaune: Really now? That means we're taking a few days off of schoolwork?

Byleth: Yup, I was even thinking of maybe-… Well-

Byleth looks away blushing a little bit, not exactly knowing how to phrase it. Due to her sheltered life & lack of social skills, she's not used to asking people to hang out with her. She did ask Claude & Hilda how to do it, but-… Needless to say, it didn't end well for any of them when that happened. Thankfully for Byleth, Sothis comes to her aid yet again.

Sothis: What my Sister's trying to say is that we were thinking of having a big group date!

Jaune: *Blushes madly* WHAT?!

Pyrrha: *Blushes madly* G- GROUP DATE?!

Due to the lack of context, Jaune & Pyrrha immediately think that this Group Date is a- well, a romantic date. For crying out loud, they're just friends! Sure, they're close, but not like that… Right? But Byleth then reassures them both that this isn't the case at all.

Byleth: No, no! It's not that kind of date! What I was actually trying to say was that I was thinking that we should all go & have a day for ourselves together in the Kingdom Capital tomorrow. Ya'know, as a class!

Jaune & Pyrrha lose their blush as they take a sigh of relief now that they had the full context behind Byleth's request, with Byleth herself looking down unamused at Sothis as she gives off a shit-eating grin… This little runt is such a little shit & I love it.

Jaune: Oh- well, of course! What else could've been?

Pyrrha: Y- yes! A day where we all go out as friends; this is what you meant…

Byleth: Anyways… Will you 2 make it?

Jaune: Y- yeah, we will! It actually sounds like a lot of fun. I've never taken a good look at the city before myself, so this will be a good way to see what Vale is really like.

Pyrrha: As do I, I'd love to spend a day with you all.

Byleth: Wonderful! We'll be heading out tomorrow at about 9:30 AM, make sure you 2 gets lots of sleep tonight, okay?

Jaune: *Blushes* Y- yes, ma'am.

Pyrrha giggles at the cute way he addressed Byleth, almost as he's responding to a caring mother telling him to try & get some good rest for the night.

Pyrrha: Don't worry, we promise that we'll take good care of ourselves tonight. Is there anything else we could help you with?

Byleth: Not at the moment, no. I just wanted to see if you 2 could come along for the ride, I already asked everyone else & they accepted… *Smiles wryly* Although… Weiss, Ren & especially Blake took some convincing…

This actually shocks the Arkos Duo, particularly the mention of Ren not wanting to go out with them tomorrow at first.

Jaune: Wait a minute, Ren took some convincing? That's odd, I'd assume he'd be one to always take up upon a chance to relax considering his napping schedule.

Byleth: From what I could tell, he's been kinda down from what happened yesterday… Can't say I blame him, though.

Pyrrha: We understand. In that case, we'll make sure to help him out however we can.

Byleth: Thank you both. Now, if you'll excuse us.

Both Byleth & Sothis turn back as they begin heading off, Sothis makes sure to give the Arkos Duo a cute, yet teasing wink & wave while leaving, making them both blush as they both knew what she was trying to say. As they're heading off, Byleth looks down at Sothis for a moment before asking her something.

Byleth: Did you have to tease them like that? Ya'know how sensitive kids their age can be about these kinds of jokes, right?

Sothis: I just like taking shots at you mortals, teasing you guys is way too much fun. You guys make things far more complicated than they need to be, it's adorable & hilarious!

Byleth rolls her eyes at her response, not really understanding why gods are such trolls like Sothis is… Maybe it's just a Sothis thing? Byleth hopes she never meets another god in her life, she'd hate to deal with whatever bullshit they'd put her through.

Cut to later that night, where we find Ruby Rose training all by herself in the Dormroom's training grounds. As she trains, she keeps remembering of her fight with Cardin in his Demonic Beast form & how powerful it is. If she has to fight any more powerful threats like that in the future, she must become stronger… She has to! For their sake, for hers…

Ruby: Hah!

Ruby keeps spinning around & swinging her practice scythe as she performs fast combos on the training dummies, mainly the large Grimm training dummies. She uses her speed to dash through the training dummies & hit them simultaneously, to the point where a human eye could barely see her due to how fast she's running around. She finishes her combo by throwing her scythe into the sky, jumping high in the air, grabbing the scythe & diving down while performing a spinning falling slash. After taking a deep breath, Ruby goes to sit on a bench to drink some water & wipe off some sweat… Once she finished drinking, she finally says something after training for so long.

Ruby: You can try to hide your presence all you like, but there's no one in this world who can escape my line of sight.

As she says that, Blake suddenly appears from the open door & goes towards Ruby.

Blake: Impressive, I didn't think your Eyes would be that good. How was your late-night training going on, kid?

Ruby: Pretty well, I'm just about finished. I'll put everything back in place after catching my breath, then it's straight to the showers before hitting the hay for the night.

Blake sits on the bench next to Ruby before speaking.

Blake: Ya'know, it's normally the Atlesian Scumbag who trains out here late at night. I didn't expect to see you here, is something troubling you?

Ruby: No, no, I'm alright. I just felt the need to break some sweat, what about you?

Blake: Just wanted to get some fresh air, I prefer being by myself at night. But when I found you training here, I decided to stay back & let you do your thing.

Ruby: I see.

They both look at the night sky, which was really beautiful today. It was filled with many stars & the sounds of nature at night is music to their ears. As Ruby's catching her breath, Blake decides to ask her something rather… Important.

Blake: Why do you fight?

Ruby looks confused at Blake before she continues.

Blake: What's your reason to fight? Why do you want to become a Huntress? It's not every day where you see a 15-year-old girl trying to forge such a difficult path like this.

Ruby: Isn't it obvious? I'm just a girl who loves adventure & helping those in need.

Blake: Bullshit.

Ruby is taken aback by that statement. She can tell that Blake doesn't fully believe her. Sure, she wants to help people, but that's not the full story & Blake knows it.

Blake: Nobody would ever work as hard as you do without some motivation… Some real motivation! You're different, you clearly have some other motive… So I'll ask you again… Why do you fight?

Ruby: *Raises an eyebrow* Why are you so curious about it?

Blake: Just answer the damn question already.

Ruby doesn't really like being told what to do, especially in such a rude manner. But she can tell that Blake won't leave without an answer, so she bites the bullet & becomes a little more honest with her.

Ruby: Because I want to become strong, strong enough to fight against the darkness of this world. I've seen how cruel this world can be, I've witnessed people close to me being taken away from me… & I want to know why, I want those answers, I want to prevent others going through what I went through… I want to change this world!

Blake is taken aback by that last bit; she raises an eyebrow before asking.

Blake: I'm sorry, "change the world"?

Ruby then looks at the stars above before continuing.

Ruby: Yeah… The world as it is now is too nihilistic & cruel, there's so much wrong with it that it's insane… Even so, I still see it as salvageable. I refuse to believe that Remnant can never become a better place for the people that live in, just as I refuse to let it stay the way it is now for the rest of time. Which is why it is my mission to change this world! Create a world where no one has to be poor, a world where war never happens, world where no child will ever lose their Mother again because of some unknown, mysterious force that was outside of their control…

Blake looks in surprise as she hears Ruby's story. While she'd normally consider this kind of talk to be naïve & childish, that's not the case here… But why is that? Is it because she believes Ruby can actually do this, or is it something else entirely? Ruby then looks back at Blake before she finishes her answer.

Ruby: I know this sounds like a fairytale & trust me when I say that I know the world isn't like a fairytale… But that's why I'm here, to make it better! Because no one else will…

Blake: I see, so that is your reason to fight… I can't deny, you're a very ambitious kid. There aren't many people like you around, especially those who can back up their ideals.

Ruby: *Blushes* Hey, I'm just a villager from Patch. I'm nothing out of the ordinary.

Blake: & So humble, too. I knew Oz picking you as our leader was the right call to make, but I didn't have the full context as to why… Until now, anyways.

Ruby: Well, what about you? it's only fair for you to share your reasons, right?

Blake decides to play along, knowing that Ruby would probably be able to tell she's lying if she tries to. Blake draws one of Gambol Shroud's katanas & sees her reflection through the reversed blade before speaking.

Blake: Not so different from you, honestly. I've never liked violence, let alone the sight of blood. I wish to create a world where all are equal… & Yet-… Time & time again, I can't see anything but hatred, disgust & a desire to kill from the people of this planet!

Ruby: Is that why you hate Huntsmen? Because you believe that they don't actually do anything meaningful enough to warrant any change?

Blake nods at Ruby's question as she sheathes back Gambol Shroud & gets up from the bench, ready to head back inside.

Blake: That's part of it, yes. They're supposably these great heroes of justice & honor, yet I see none of those qualities in the Huntsmen I've seen or heard of in my life… Well- except for a select few *Looks down at Ruby* Mainly Team STRQ.

Ruby widens her eyes for a moment as she gets up from the bench as well, thinking that Blake might've met her parents in person in the past.

Ruby: Wait, are you saying that you-

Blake: No, I don't… I don't know any of them in person. But I have heard & read many tales about their legacy, especially about this "Summer Rose" woman… From what I've heard throughout my many travels around Remnant, she must've been amazing.

Ruby looks down a little bit, both disappointed that Blake never met her parents (mainly her Mother) in person & hearing praise about her legacy, but it's more of a tragedy for Ruby since her Mother has been gone for almost 10 years now.

Ruby: Oh- I see… & Yeah, Mom really was incredible…

Blake notices Ruby's sudden change of mood, most likely from mentioning her Mother. She almost forgot how sensitive that topic is to the young girl, but then she remembers something else that she wanted to talk with Ruby about.

Blake: Actually, there is one thing that still bothers me.

Ruby looks at Blake confusingly at that statement.

Ruby: Oh yeah? What's that?

Blake: You & Yang are the Daughters of the Greatest Huntsmen of the last generation, yet no one seems to know about you. There were no news or documentations of any member of Team STRQ having any children or even getting married with each other. It's almost as if you both just suddenly came out of nowhere & just so happened to be related to Team STRQ. *Looks at Ruby* Don't you find that a little weird?

Ruby gives it some thought before coming to a conclusion, just as she gets up & stretches her arms a little bit before starting to put the training equipment back to their proper placement. After all, you always put something back where it belongs when you're done using it, right?... RIGHT?!... (Suspiciously glares at the readers)

Ruby: I mean, I do think it's a little weird… But if I'm being honest, I don't mind. It really doesn't make a difference for me whether or not people know who I really am.

Blake then looks at Ruby flabbergasted when she said that.

Blake: Wait- what?!

Ruby: I'm not looking for any kind of fame or glory, the world can hate me for all I care. I'm just a girl from Patch who loves cookies & adventure, as well as having a promise to keep. *Looks back at Blake* Like I said, I'm nobody special, nor do I want to be. I just go with the flow & see where it goes from there, there's nothing special about that.

She can't believe this, how the hell can someone like Ruby exist?! Someone so powerful, confident & stubborn without coming off as an arrogant prick, yet also gentle, friendly & chill without coming off as naïve child?!... Blake just sighs in defeat while she grows a small smile on her face while brushing off the bangs of her hair.

Blake: Good fucking grief, Ruby… You're really something else, I swear.

Ruby responds by giving Blake a goofy, yet cheerful smile that only the darkest of hearts would hate. Blake can't help but smile back at her cheerful, yet confident leader.

Ruby: Anyways, I'll be going to the showers. Meet you back in the dorms?

Blake: Yeah, sure. Later Ruby.

Ruby then finishes putting everything back to its proper place & begins heading off, just as Blake finally has some time for herself. She sits on the bench as she wraps her head around what just happened.

Blake: That kid's truly something special, it's pretty admirable… *Looks down* & Yet- I worried about what the future has in-store for her, I just hope she can pull through.

Blake decides to eventually drop the subject & just read her novel, wanting to continue from where she last left off. Unbeknownst to her, the future does have a lot in-store for the young reaper… & Not in a good way.

Cut to the next morning where Team RWBY is suiting up for their day at Vale, putting some different clothes this time around. Both Blake & Yang are wearing the outfits they worn in their personal day at Vale earlier this month, so how about we see what looks Ruby & Weiss will be going with, shall we?

Weiss is wearing an ice blue jacket that she keeps it open, a sleeveless white shirt & knee high (Or more accurately, knee low) blue skirt. She has a red sash wrapped around her waist as a makeshift belt, as well as wearing her usual high heeled boots. Her hair stays the same, however. Smooth, silky, wrapped in a ponytail that's tied on the left side of her head instead of the center. She doesn't really look like an Atlesian Noble, funny enough.

Ruby however isn't very subtle about her style. She keeps her red hood, but she wears a jet-black jacket she leaves it open & goes all the way to her hips from how big it is; the back of said jacket having her iconic rose emblem. She's wearing both a red t-shirt with a rose petal motif & a red mini-skirt, not unlike her normal outfit. However, instead of the usual knee-high boots & stockings that she wears in her normal outfit or her school uniform, she's wearing a pair of crimson red sneakers & knee-high white socks. Her hair is still the usual spiky hair Ruby has, as well as having some red headphones she keeps around her neck. after adjusting her hood, she looks at her team.

Ruby: Gotta say, you 3 look pretty cool. Guess you decided to put all the stocks for this one, huh? Then again, so did I.

Yang: Heh, what can I say? I've never been one to hold back.

Blake: Isn't that jacket a little too long for you, though?

Ruby then gets up as she shows off her jacket to Blake.

Ruby: Nah, it's a perfect fit. It's just the bottom half that's too long, but I like it.

Weiss: You could at least do something about your hair, it's a mess!

Ruby then looks at Weiss, who's putting on some make up while they were all getting dressed for the day.

Ruby: Excuse you, my spiky hair is amazing & I won't hear a word against it.

Weiss: How in the bloody hell can you even fight with that mess in the way, let alone being able to keep it the way it is without turning it into an even bigger mess of hair?

Yang: Says the girl who fights on high heels.

Ruby: Now that makes no sense.

Weiss groans in frustration from having her heels insulted. These peasants truly are the lowest of low, they don't appreciate true finesse! Respect the high heels, Goddamnit!

Weiss: You three just don't appreciate true beauty, that's all…

Blake: You say that as if you have an authority on what is or isn't beautiful.

Ruby & Yang sigh in frustration, telling themselves "Ah crapbaskets, here we go again".

Weiss: At least I don't have a nearly empty wardrobe with nothing but kimonos, pajamas & school uniforms. Remember the trouble we went through because of that in the past?

Blake: Are we seriously going to bring that up? If you're going to lecture me on pointless shit I could give 2 fucks about, at least try to make it worth my damn time. Hearing your obnoxious as hell voice is enough pain for my ears as it is.

Weiss then goes to confront Blake.

Weiss: You should watch how you speak to your colleagues, Blake! you need to look at your best at all times & we cannot accept anything but that, understood?! You can't just-

Blake then suddenly shoots a death glare at Weiss

Blake: Shut up! I don't need to meet your standards, nor anyone else's! Nor do you have the right to tell me what I can or can't do! You worthless Atlesian trash!

The Rose Xiao-Long Sisters get taken aback by Blake's sudden outburst, but Weiss just sees it as Blake being an angry pest; she's already used to her attitude by now. Ruby gets in between them before things get any worse, something she's also used to by now.

Ruby: Alright, that's enough! Both of you, stop this pointless bickering right now! I don't want our day being ruined because you 2 can't seem to get along, despite the fact that you 2 have been living together for almost a whole month now!

Blake: You say that as if we will get along someday…

Ruby then looks at Blake with a confused expression on her face.

Blake: Get a grip, kid! We just don't get along, nor will we ever get along with each other. She hates my guts & I hate hers, that's just how it is. Don't think that we'll just going to become friends since we're on the same team, that bitch can die for all I care!

After having so many of these petty squabbles with Blake that always lead nowhere, Weiss eventually stops holding back grudges & just tells her the truth as well.

Weiss: Trust me, I feel the same way towards you.

Ruby couldn't believe her ears, do those 2 really hate each other this much? Yang is also a little shocked that Weiss & Blake don't like each other so much to the point that they'd leave the other to die if given the chance. Without another word, Blake takes her things & heads off. Ruby tries to go after her, but Yang stops her, knowing that Blake doesn't like people following her when she wants to be alone.

Yang: Let her go, Sis… She needs some space…

Ruby sighs in defeat, knowing Yang is right. As they're all cooling off, Byleth & Sothis come by to see how they're doing. Sothis is wearing her usual attire that she uses in her time in Remnant, while Byleth is wearing her battle attire.

Sothis: Hey there, ya kids ready to-

Sothis suddenly notice the rather quiet mood inside of Team RWBY's room, which makes her sweat a little bit.

Sothis: Uh~… Tough crowd, huh?

Byleth: Let me guess, Weiss & Blake fought again?

Ruby: Yeah… Blake just left a minute before you guys arrived.

Byleth closes her eyes in thought, thinking about how Blake has been doing for the last month or so. She already started helping Weiss, so she hopes she can do the same with Blake & her issues. But she can deal with that later, she has other matters right now.

Byleth: I see… I'm sure she'll come around eventually; are you guys ready?

Weiss & Yang then take notice that Byleth's wearing her battle attire instead of clothes that you'd usually wear when going out to the city… Oh god, not this again.

Yang: Well, we're ready… But you don't look like you're ready to me.

Byleth raises an eyebrow while getting a bit confused before Yang continues.

Yang: You're going out like that? We're going on a city, not a mission.

Byleth: Well… This is kinda all I got alongside my teacher's uniform & pajamas; I rarely get out to take a stroll in town.

When that was heard, Yang & Weiss both looked at each other before looking back at Byleth. Ruby immediately catches on what they're plan is & tries to warn Byleth about it.

Weiss: Say, Professor… You wouldn't mind spending an hour or so with us, right? We do have 2:30 hours before our "group date" actually starts, right?

Yang: Yeah, it won't take much time at all. What do you say, Teach?

Byleth isn't sure how to respond to Weiss & Yang's sudden request, who look like they're scheming something. she then looks at Ruby who tries to tell her something.

Ruby: {Prof. Eisner, run!}

Byleth looks at Ruby confused when she said that, but before she tries to get a word out, she's suddenly grabbed by the arms by Weiss & Yang. The latter of which looks back at her Little Sister to reassure her.

Yang: We'll meet you guys back in Vale, alright? Cool, see ya!

Weiss: Take care, Ruby.

Byleth: Wait, why are you 2 hold- woah!

Byleth is then taken away before she could finish, just as Ruby groans in frustration as she prays that they don't bother Byleth all that much. Sothis was able to get the hint, unlike Byleth & can't help herself from laughing a little.

Sothis: Hahahahahah! Oh man, those 2 are gonna go nuts! But I have faith in my Big Sis, I'm sure she's gonna be just fine.

Ruby: I'm sorry you had to see that, those 2 are serious fashion freaks & not the good kind like Coco is either.

Sothis: It's alright, kid. This isn't the first time Byleth has gotten herself into a situation like this, trust me… Actually, there was one thing left to do before we go.

Ruby looks at Sothis confusingly before she could continue. As she's speaking, the scene fades to Glynda's quarters. She appears to be talking to someone through her computer, it was one of the Venatores: Khloud.

Glynda: & That's all I have to report, Mr. Ignis. I hate to admit it, but His Majesty is right in having to keep Prof. Eisner around… Even so, I cannot say that I'm very fond of it.

Khloud: In the way you speak, it gives off the impression that you have some form of grudge against this woman. I'm wary of her myself, but are you not being a little too – shall we say – overactive about it?

Glynda rubs her forehead a little, knowing that her fellow Venator was correct. She is indeed overreacting, but she can't really help herself considering how reckless Ozpin is.

Glynda: I-… I just want to aid my King & make sure he doesn't do anything unreversible, you know how reckless that fool can be at times… However, you do have a good point… Perhaps I am being too harsh on her, it's not like I hate Prof. Eisner as a person.

Khloud: Oh? Now that's a surprise. Care to tell me more?

Glynda takes out her glasses & begins cleaning them as she answers Khloud's question.

Glynda: For starters, she's not a very loud individual. She's stoic, quiet, a good listener; yet she isn't afraid to speak her mind. I always admire those who can stand up against others. There's also her abilities as a professor which are astounding, although I do not like to admit that if I'm being honest. *Puts her glasses back on* I can certainly see why the students of Beacon Academy are so fond of her… I just wish I could truly trust her…

Khloud: Trust is a very sensitive thing to handle. Let's be honest, we as a whole are the last people who should be talking about trust & how it works. Especially if we're talking about his view of trust, if you could even call it that.

Khloud then notices the slight mood change from Glynda, he realizes his mistake & tries to patch things up before things get any worse.

Khloud: Oh! My sincerest apologies, it wasn't my intention to-

Glynda: No, Mr. Ignis… It's quite alright, I know you meant no harm…

Before either of them could say anything else, they hear a knocking on Glynda's door. Glynda turns to see Gayelette going to answer it.

Gayelette: I'll get it.

The mere sight of seeing her Daughter is able to put Glynda's mind at ease, even if it's just a little bit. She looks back at her monitor to end the call soon.

Glynda: Could we pick this up another time? I wish to see who it is.

Khloud smiles as he gives Glynda a small nod.

Khloud: No problem, thank you for your time. We'll meet again, Lady Glynda. Take care.

Their call end right there as Glynda turns off her monitor once Khloud hung up. Glynda then gets up as she heads for the door, she spots her Daughter talking to both Sothis & Ruby; who appear to be talking about something.

Ruby: That's pretty much the whole story. So what do you say, ya wanna hang out with us today? I'm sure the others wouldn't mind you coming along the ride.

Before a conflicted Gayelette could respond, Glynda comes into the scene.

Glynda: Good morning, Ms. Rose. To you as well, Ms. Sothis.

The 3 girls (especially Gayelette) were a little spooked at the very sudden, yet very kind surprise arrival from Glynda. But they regain their composure very quickly.

Ruby: Oh- hey there, Prof. Goodwitch… How are you doing?

Glynda: I've been doing well, thank you for asking. Now then, how may I help you?

Ruby: Oh- right. Prof. Eisner was planning a day at Vale for the whole class & she was wondering if Gayelette could come along.

Sothis: Yeah. We'll be heading off in a few ours, the others are still getting ready… But since you're here now, that'll make things easier for us since we can ask for permission ourselves. So what do you say?

Gayelette doesn't know what to say. She clearly wants to go, but doesn't know if she can & she's never been in the big city before, let alone hung out with any friends like this before in her life. but thankfully, her Mother makes her mind very quickly.

Glynda: If she wishes to go, then of course. That's a truly wonderful idea.

Gayelette widens her eyes in shock as she looks back at Glynda, who has a small smile on her face. Glynda herself pats her Daughter on the head before she continues.

Glynda: Gayelette does not get out much, so this could be a good experience for her. I'm sure she'd love to go out with you all.

Gayelette looks at her Mother before speaking.

Gayelette: You mean-

Glynda: *Nods* Go get dressed, I'll go lend you a hand in a moment.

Gayelette then begins smiling happily at that response.

Gayelette: R- Right!

Glynda sees her Daughter going to her room to get ready for the day, seeing her happy makes Glynda happy as well. But as she turns back to see the girls, The Mage General notices that Byleth isn't with them.

Glynda: Hold a moment, where's Ms. Eisner? Isn't she supposed to be with you?

That's when Ruby laughs nervously while rubbing the back of her head & Sothis smirks at the mention of Byleth, knowing what she's going through at the moment.

Ruby: Well-… It's kind of a complicated story…

Glynda looks confused as to what Ruby means, the scene begins to fade away as Ruby begins explaining the situation to Glynda as we fade back to Byleth.

Unlike Blake – who clearly despised the entire process when it happened to her – Byleth feels very confused about the whole situation, her facial expression says it all as both Yang & Weiss try to find any outfits that work for The Ashen Demon.

Yang: *Sighs* No good, this one's too flashy.

The outfit Byleth was currently wearing was indeed too flashy, both figuratively & very literally. She was wearing a leather jacket with bright white strings on the sleeves, her pants were tight & completely white & she was wearing bright boots as well. The girls groan in frustration as they realize that they aren't going anywhere with this.

Weiss: Goodness gracious, why must this be so needlessly difficult?!

Yang: How should I know?! Given how it went with Blake, we should've known better than to try this again with someone who also lacks a proper wardrobe!

Byleth doesn't know what to make of this situation. Sure, she's not really comfortable in trying so many outfits that just don't work for her – especially outfits as tight as the one she's currently wearing – but she can't really be mad at Yang & Weiss for it, they're trying their best with what they have.

Byleth: Sorry if my nonexistent fashion sense is giving you 2 so much trouble.

Yang: No, no. It's alright Teach, we're just not that good in this stuff as we thought.

Weiss suddenly gives Yang a smug look before she speaks.

Weiss: You're not that good in this stuff as you believed.

This triggers Yang as she glares at Weiss, who's looking oddly smug while she hears Yang run her mouth while her eyes turn red.

Yang: Don't give me that look, you're not much better!

Coco: My, my… Looks like we meet again, ladies.

They all suddenly turn to see the approaching Coco Adel coming towards their direction. Thank the heavens, they're safe now.

Yang: Oh, hey Coco. What are you doing here?

Coco: Just passing through, this shop never ceases to amaze me. Hm?

Coco then takes notice of the woman in the very flashy get-up, Byleth Eisner. So this is the new professor everybody was talking about, she finally gets to meet her in person & holy fucking shit, she's absolutely gorgeous in Coco's eyes! That soft, fluffy dark blue hair; those bold, yet sharp blue eyes; the slim build with many curves. This might as well be the sexiest & most beautiful woman Coco has ever seen in her life… & It pisses her off that she's wearing something so ridiculous that it nearly takes away such divine beauty! Coco goes to see Byleth from up close & tries to strike a conversation with her.

Coco: Hey there, beautiful. You must be Professor Byleth Eisner, correct?

Byleth: Uh~, that is correct… & You are?

Coco chuckles as she takes out her card from her purse & flashes it to Byleth.

Coco: Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Coco Adel: Leader of Team CFVY.

Weiss facepalms at the way Coco is talking to their Professor, while Yang is wondering how the hell can she talk to girls so well like that & not fail miserably?! Byleth however is getting flashbacks of Sylvain & Lorenz, due to both being ladiesmen as well… Yet Coco feels a little different, maybe because she's not annoying about it? She doesn't know.

Coco: So, you're new around here?

Byleth: Something like that. I've been here in Vale for a month, but this is the first time I've been to a clothing store to buy clothes. My Father & I usually made our own clothes. We traveled all over the place & we were never in the same place for a long time.

Coco: I see, so you're not used to being around in public, huh?

Byleth: You could say that, yes.

Coco circles around Byleth as she takes a better look at her measurements (Not in that way, you perverts!)& Thinks of what could go well with the young mercenary. After some thinking, she steps back a bit as she snaps her fingers once she reaches an answer.

Coco: Alright, I got it! Just follow me & I'll cast my fashion magic upon you.

Weiss (Deadpanned): Forgive me, "fashion magic"?

Yang (Whispering): {Just let her do her thing, Weiss.}

Coco then wraps her arm around Byleth's shoulders as they begin to go somewhere else on the shop, with Coco looking back at Yang & Weiss while waving her hand.

Coco: You 2 just stay there, we'll be right back.

The 2 girls then leave, leaving The FreezerBurn Duo by themselves thinking on what Coco has instore this time around. It worked surprisingly well for Blake, so maybe Byleth will get a similar treatment as well. Speaking of Byleth, we cut back to her looking at what outfit Coco chose for her. Byleth was never into fashion, but she can't deny that what she's seeing right now is downright phenomenal!

The outfit Coco chose for Byleth consists of a large black jacket with white stripes on the sleeves & a hoodie, a sleeveless navy-blue shirt that leaves her midriff exposed alongside a cleavage window & with a turtleneck, a pair of navy-blue jean short shorts alongside a belt & a pair of below knee leather boots with a pair of thigh high white socks. This isn't the kind of attire that's normally found in Fódlan… & Byleth loves every bit of it!

Coco: So Teach, enjoyed my little magic?

Byleth: By the gods, Coco… This is truly incredible! I'll admit, it's a little too revealing… But that attire is very striking & I like it! Not to mention how it fits my color scheme well, since Black & Navy-blue are my choice of colors.

Coco: Wonderful, now go try it out & don't worry about the payment, it's on me.

This actually catches Byleth by surprise.

Byleth: Wait, on you?! Are you sure about that? This thing looks pretty costly.

Coco: Yeah, I'm sure. I'm loaded with cash as it is thanks to my business, so I'm not really worried on getting broke anytime soon. *Winks* Besides, I know how to make a great bargain when I need to.

Byleth smiles at Coco's generosity as she takes the outfit & heads to the changing cabin.

Byleth: Well… If that's the case, who am I to say no?

Byleth heads inside of the changing cabin & closes the door, just as she begins undressing herself while she chats with Coco a little bit.

Byleth: You just said that you're loaded thanks to your business, right? Is it okay for me to ask what that business is?

Coco chuckles as she takes out her shades & begins cleaning them.

Coco: Oh, I'm glad you asked. I'm a proud fashionista, so it's my duty to have both myself & my comrades look at their absolute best! Not only do I get them new clothes in stores like this, but I also buy materials to make some sets of my own.

Byleth: Is that so? I'd love to see what you were able to make in the near future.

Coco: Oh, I'm sure you'd love what I have hanging in my wardrobes. I also have a couple of "very fun outfits" that you could try out as well.

Byleth immediately know what Coco means by that & shuts her offer down.

Byleth: On second thought, maybe I'll stay away from your work for the time being.

Coco laughs a bit as she puts her shades back on.

Coco: Hahahahahah! Come on, Teach. You know I'm joking; I'd never go as far to take away your dignity. I admit that I'm no saint, but even I have my limits.

Byleth chuckles at the response as she finally finishes undressing herself to the point where she can finally change into the clothes Coco got her; she begins with the shorts & while it does look tight on the surface, it actually fits Byleth like a glove. She then puts on the socks while also buckling the belt, followed by the sleeveless shirt, then the jacket & finally the pair of boots. Byleth looks herself in the mirror while adjusting her hair & if the outfit itself wasn't impressive enough, actually seeing herself wearing it is an entirely different story as she never looked so beautiful in her life. The culture of Remnant is a true wonder that must be experienced to be believed. She opens the door as she leaves the changing cabin, looking back at Coco while she readjusts the jacket a bit.

Byleth: So, how do I look?

Coco looks away while covering her nose, feeling like she's about to get a nosebleed.

Coco: Holy shit, you look even more beautiful than before.

Byleth: *Chuckles* Thank you, I'm truly grateful for your help today. *Innocently tilts her head* Is there something wrong? It looks like your nose is bleeding a little.

Coco: No, no; I'm alright! *Recomposes herself* Now then, shall we get going?

Byleth smiles as she makes her way back to Yang & Weiss alongside Coco, the latter 2 girls were more than impressed with Coco's "Fashion Magic" as it made Byleth look even more attractive & like Coco, Yang has to cover her nose while looking away so that her bleeding nose isn't exposed. After paying for the clothes, Coco waved the girls goodbye as she leaves them to do their own thing.

We cut to where the girls are at the airport's entrance so that they can meet up with the others, who should be arriving very soon by now… Hopefully!

Weiss: As much as I'm not very fond of bold & revealing outfits, I cannot deny that you look really beautiful, Professor Eisner.

Yang: Yeah! Guess we'll just ask for Coco to help us out whenever we need new outfits for certain events, amiright?

Byleth blushes at the compliments Yang & Weiss are giving her right now. It's odd, Byleth was never one to feel this way whenever someone calls her "Sexy" or "Beautiful" or any of the sorts. So why did it feel different this time? No matter, Byleth's blush soon fades away once she mentally reassures herself.

Byleth: Yes, indeed we will. But I thank you for trying, I know I'm not the best person to work with when stuff like this is involved.

Weiss: Nonsense, Professor! You're our Teacher, we have to make sure you look at your absolute best. We don't want anyone getting the feeling that you don't fit in.

Yang: Wow, since when have you ever been this nice to anyone? Especially with Teach of all people? Guess the Heiress has a soft spot after all, huh?

Weiss: Quiet, you!

It doesn't take long until everyone else arrived & met with one another at the Valean Airport's entrance. Ruby & Sothis don't need any description on what they're wearing, so why don't we take a look at how the others are looking? First is Jaune, who's wearing a yellow T-shirt, some jeans & white sneakers. His original outfit was already a little bit casual looking as it was, so it didn't need much modification.

Nora is wearing an outfit similar to Byleth's, just with a shirt that doesn't expose her midriff, a mini-skirt instead of a pair of short shorts & some sneakers instead of high boots. Oh & the color scheme of pink, white & black that Nora is famous for.

Pyrrha is wearing a short-sleeved orange shirt with a wild-flower motif, said shirt leaving her shoulders exposed. She's also wearing a pair of light blue jeans with a pair of red boots to complement with her red hair, she does keep her tiara from her usual attire, but she also wears a short yellow scarf to complement her orange shirt & red hair.

Like Blake, Ren is more comfortable to wearing more eastern clothing & the outfit he's currently wearing is no different. He's wearing a green hanfu that goes up to his waist, which is tied up with a white belt. The sleeves of the hanfu itself are wrapped by another pair of white sashes around his forearms to keep the sleeves tight in Ren's skin, he's also wearing a pair of Chinese pants & a pair of Zori much like Blake's own footwear.

But things get interesting when we get to Gayelette, which complete takes all of Sothis' attention once she sees her. She has her hair loose like usual, but it looks like there's some braids on the sides of the head, which connect into a small bun on the back. She's wearing a white jeans jacket that she leaves it open, which exposes the golden necklace on her neck. She's also wearing a lapis lazuli shirt alongside a tight skirt with a darker shade of blue, said skirt being held by a white belt. For footwear, a pair of blue heels & a pair of knee-high white socks. From her body language, Gayelette looks a little bit out of place & very new to this – which she is – but then Sothis goes to greet her.

Sothis: Hey there, Gayelette. You look really nice.

Gayelette takes notice of Sothis' presence & looks away blushing before replying.

Gayelette: Huh? Oh- thank you Sothis! Mother helped me pick this one…

Sothis tilts her head curiously, not knowing why Gayelette looks so flustered.

Sothis: Uh, are you alright? You look a little red there… Literally!

Gayelette: Y- yes, I'm alright! Thank you for asking… I'm just not very accustomed to being out of my quarters all that much, that's all.

As Gayelette is sorta shifting around all nervous, she takes notice of the looks Yang & Weiss are giving her right now. Mainly with their big glittering eyes.

Yang: Aw~, you look adorable!

Weiss: *Lightly chuckles* I'm really happy that you could come along, Gayelette.

Gayelette tries to use her hair to hide her flustered face, but she can't help but be happy at their comments; specially Weiss'.

Gayelette: Oh- Yes! Thank you, Weiss…

Pyrrha starts looking around, suddenly noticing that Blake isn't with Byleth's group.

Pyrrha: Blake isn't with you, Professor?

Byleth shakes her head in response before answering Pyrrha's question.

Byleth: No, she's not. I don't know where she went exactly & neither do Yang or Weiss, my guess is she's already at Buccellati's.

Ruby: I'm sure she's just fine, Blake is strong enough to take care of herself.

The others suddenly look at Ruby after she said that, with Jaune commenting about it.

Jaune: You're not worried about her?

Ruby: I'm sure we'll meet with her eventually, it's not like she just suddenly left the Kingdom Capital or anything like that. *Starts walking* Now let's get going, I'm starving!

Yang: Heh, you can say that again. Let's get ourselves some delicious seafood for lunch!

Weiss: *Sighs* You Sisters are something else, I swear…

The others just shrug at the Rose Xiao-Long Sisters as they begin following them, since they're the ones who know where Buccellati's Flowing Waves is located. Although there is something that's been on Byleth's mind about Blake & it's not about her storming off earlier because of Weiss trying to tell her what to do either, but she can deal with that when she sees Blake again.

We cut to them arriving at Buccellati's, where they spot Aureo outside taking some fresh air. Ruby & Yang go to greet him once they spot the blond head cook of Buccellati's.

Ruby: Huh? Oh hey, it's Aureo!

Yang: Hey, Mr. Vento Aureo himself! What's up?

Aureo opens his eyes as he spots the Garnet Papillons approaching them, mainly Ruby & Yang who came to greet them personally. Aureo rolls his eyes at Yang calling him that.

Aureo: Yang, I told you to not call me that… No matter, it's great to see you 2 again.

Ruby: It's been a while, hasn't it? What's up?

Aureo adjusts his golden flocks of hair before replying.

Aureo: I'm just taking the nice fresh air before I went back inside, I just finished my own lunch break not to long ago. *Looks behind Ruby & Yang* So Yang, those kids over there are the new friends you told Album & I about the last time you were here?

Yang steps aside as she motions her arm as both herself & Ruby begin introducing the Garnet Papillons to Aureo.

Yang: That's right, here's the whole gang! The pink-haired shortie is Nora, the quiet emo next to her is Ren, the blond goofball is Jaune & the gorgeous athletic red-head is Pyrrha.

Team JNPR's reactions to Yang introducing them vary from member to member. Nora just smiles happily as she waves at Aureo, Ren just huffs as he looks away, Jaune groans as he facepalm while being all flustered & Pyrrha herself is a little taken aback by Yang calling her gorgeous… Is Yang trying to flirt with her again or something? Either way, Pyrrha blushes a little bit, but quickly regains composure. As Yang finishes introducing Team JNPR which were on her left, Ruby motions her arm to her right, where Byleth & the others were.

Ruby: As for the ones on my right, we have our Tsundere Ice Queen: Weiss, our trouble-making prankster: Sothis, our newcomer to our friend group: Gayelette & last but not least, our homeroom Professor who's the best school teacher you could ask for: Byleth!

Their reactions varied as well, just like with Team JNPR. Weiss groaned in annoyance from being called Tsundere Ice Queen, Sothis just puffs her cheeks for being treated like a kid again & Byleth feels indifferent about Ruby's compliment, although she's smiling on the inside. Gayelette however is surprised by what Ruby just said, saying that she's a new member to their friend group. This is the first time they properly hung out together & Ruby's already so welcoming to her? Are the others feeling the same way as well? She doesn't know, what Gayelette does know is that hearing that made her really happy.

Byleth then goes in between the Rose Xiao-Long Sisters so that she can personally greet Aureo herself, offering her hand to the young cook.

Byleth: Byleth Eisner, it's nice to meet you.

Aureo smiles as she shakes Byleth's hand in response before stepping aside so the others can head inside of the restaurant.

Aureo: Aureo Buccellati at your service. Now then, why don't we all head back inside? We already have a table for you inside.

The students blink their eyes in confusion at that statement. Neither Ruby, Yang, Byleth or anyone of the students present for that matter made any reservations. But after she thinks for a bit, Byleth looks at Aureo while she has her left hand on her hip.

Byleth: Just out of curiosity, did a certain black-haired girl came by & told you that we were coming around this time?

Aureo: Correct, although she's not sitting on where you'll be eating.

The group gets taken aback once they realize who's this black-haired girl they're talking about, with Yang looking at Byleth a little flabbergasted.

Yang: Wait, Blake's here?!

Aureo: She is, but she looks a little moodier than usual…

Yang just sighs as everyone else begin to head inside until they reach a large table, with a circular bench so that they could all sit in a circle… Literally. Since Aureo is already there, he's the one who gets to take the order for the Garnet Papillons as they all begin looking through the menu.

They had many options; like takoyaki, steamed clams, lobster, shrimp, octopus, oysters, crawfishes & many types of fish from fried fish, steamed fish, grilled fish, ETC. Both Ruby & Yang already hand in mind what they want, but the others are having some difficulties choosing, mainly Weiss since she's not used to having very salty meals. Ruby & Yang take notice of this & after exchanging looks, they decided to do the orders themselves.

Ruby: Just leave everything to us, alright? We know our way here.

Weiss: Huh? I mean, I do not mind… But make sure whatever I'll get isn't too salty, please.

Ruby nods as she calls Aureo to come towards her with a hand sign.

Ruby: We'll be having this & this, a large plate of this & a little bit of this as well.

Yang also comes by, appearing at Aureo's left as she points at Ruby's menu.

Yang: We'll also be having one of these as well & I myself will be having this.

Aureo nods as he starts jotting everything down.

Aureo: I see, what about beverages?

Ruby: I'll be having mineral water.

Yang: I'll take some cola!

The sisters then looked at everyone else, wondering what they'll be having to drink. They quickly get the message as they think of what they want to drink, starting with Weiss.

Weiss: Hm, Me? Well-… I'll have decaffeinated coffee, please.

Ren: Iced tea.

Nora is about to open her mouth, but both Ren & Pyrrha quickly cover her mouth with their hands, preventing her from ordering what they know she was going to order.

Pyrrha: I'd like to drink some iced lemonade, our orange-haired friend over here will be having a glass of caipirinha, please.

Editor's note: Caipirinha is a common Brazilian beverage, it's a cocktail prepared using cachaça, lime juice & sugar.

Nora groans in annoyance at Ren & Pyrrha stopping her from ordering coffee, curse these people preventing her from engulfing herself with some nice coffee!

Jaune: I'll take an orange juice, please.

Yang, Nora & Sothis smirk at Jaune's choice, but both Byleth & Pyrrha give them the glare & they immediately stop, much to Jaune's relief. Aureo then looks at the Eisner Sisters after he finished jotting down most of the drinks.

Byleth: I'll be having a wooden mug of beer, Sothis will be having mineral water as well.

Sothis widens her eyes in shock as she looks at Byleth, but before she gets a say in this, Aureo already has their entire order jotted down.

Sothis: Wait, what-?!

Aureo: Understood, please wait a couple of minutes. Thank you for your time.

Aureo leaves the table as everyone else looked at the Rose Xiao-Long Sisters.

Jaune: So, what did you girls order?

Ruby & Yang giggle mischievously as the former replied to Jaune's question.

Ruby: That's a surprise, you're just gonna have to wait & see.

Weiss: *Frowns* I don't know if I should be concerned of that statement or not…

The students begin talking to each other, mainly just about school stuff & how things were going for them so far… Well, outside of the whole Cardin fiasco a few days ago. Cut to a few minutes later where they're still conversing, mainly Pyrrha telling them a story of her past as a Mistralean Warlord. This story was about one of the last few she fought as a Warlord, approximately a year or so before she came to Vale.

Pyrrha: So then nightfall came, I was outside of the manor doing my duty as night watch. It was rather quiet … Perhaps a bit too quiet, to the point of me even getting a little bit uncomfortable… Much to the surprise of no one, my suspicions were proven correct.

The group was getting intrigued by Pyrrha's story, with Nora being the most excited one amongst the group as she wonders what comes next.

Nora: Ooh~… & Then what?

Pyrrha: What comes next is a young girl in a large cloak & a cat mask, a cat mask with a rather distinct color pallet. A white mask where the eyes are black, they the eyelids & lips are blood-red. The mask also had a few blood-red stripes around the cheeks, almost like they were whiskers & to top it all off, the headband that ties the mask to this girl's face was a dark shade of gold. It didn't take me long to learn who this girl was.

They all slowly realize who Pyrrha is talking about, with the exception of Byleth & Sothis who are unfamiliar with whoever Pyrrha's referring to. Weiss is the first one to spell it out & the venom behind her voice says it all.

Weiss: {One of the Filthy Half-breeds of The White Fang…}

The Eisner Sisters look at Weiss in confusion, not familiar with this "White Fang". With that being said, Ruby slightly nudges Weiss for calling the Faunus "Filthy Half-breeds".

Byleth: The White Fang? Are you talking about that Faunus Revolutionary Army that has become violent 5 years ago?

Pyrrha: Yes & the one who suddenly attacked me that night was one of the 4 top ranking fighters of that said army, the 4 deadliest Faunus that work under The King of the White Fang… Well- Queen is more of an accurate term since their current leader is a woman. Anyways, the WF member who was after me drew a pair of katanas that were forged from Anti-Aura Metal, given the dark color of the blade. Needless to say, I was about to fight someone truly skilled with the blade.

Jaune: But you still won, right? I mean- I'm pretty sure one of the top-ranking assassins of a revolutionary army wouldn't let their enemies live, right?

Pyrrha giggles as she adjusts her hair.

Pyrrha: Well~… There wasn't really a deciding victor, the guards eventually arrived to see what was going on after we dragged on our fight long enough. Once that masked girl realized that she was outnumbered, she quickly retreated & made her escape. The good news is that despite some property damage, there were 0 casualties on that night.

The other students either sigh in relief at that statement, glad that no one died on that night or patted Pyrrha on the back for a job well done; the latter mostly being Nora.

Nora: That's our girl, way to go!

Pyrrha blushes at Nora's compliment, but she can't help but smile at her words. Weiss just scoffs at the idea of a Faunus even daring to try & fight Pyrrha Nikos, given how she herself hates their kind & how strong Pyrrha is.

Weiss: Of course that cowardly fur bag escaped, as if she ever stood a chance against you of all people. Those wretched Half-breeds of the White Fang are all the same in the end, all talk & no action.

Pyrrha: I cannot say that I agree, our fight was pretty evenly matched. If I'm being honest, I got lucky that the guards arrived when they did.

Weiss is taken aback by that statement. She now knows that Pyrrha isn't truly invincible, but to hear that a disgusting Sub-human was able to trade blows with her & maybe even have a chance to defeat her? This is madness!

While everyone keeps chatting, Byleth takes notice of Blake leaving the restaurant. So she was here, but where is she going now? Byleth has had enough of letting Blake go on her own & like Weiss earlier this semester, Byleth decides to take initiative & gets up from her seat, suddenly confusing everyone.

Byleth: Can you kids save my seat? I'll be right back; I need to go check on something.

Ruby: Uh… Sure. Don't worry about the food, I'll send you a message through my scroll when our food arrives. It should be here in about 5-10 minutes.

Byleth nods as she leaves the table for a moment & soon after, the restaurant as she goes after Blake, wanting to talk to her & finally get some answers.

Cut to the beach just behind Buccellati's, almost as if it was the restaurant's personal backyard. Blake is sitting on a large palm tree so that she can get some shade from the harsh sunlight, she really regrets taking her bamboo hat with her today. But just as she's chilling the nice & calm winds of the beach, the sounds of the crashing waves & getting a taste of some delicious coconut water, she takes noticed of some extra shade, one that kinda looks like it's from a human woman with a familiar silhouette… Wait a minute-!

Byleth: Hello Blake.

Blake suddenly gets jumpy once she hears Byleth call her name, she jumps back & turns around, ready to draw her blades once she sees Byleth.

Blake: What do you want & why are you here?!

Byleth: Calm down, I just wanna talk. You just left without a word before I even came to see you girls earlier this morning & looking rather petty too, might I add.

Blake huffs as she lets go of her sword's scabbard & crosses her arms.

Blake: The very idea of that Atlesian Bitch trying to order me around disgusts me, I don't take orders from her or anyone of her disgusting kind…

Byleth places a hand on her hip before asking something of Blake, something that she knows Blake will probably try to answer with half-truths.

Byleth: Blake, please be honest with me. Why do you hate Weiss so much? I can sort off understand why hate Atlesians in general, despite the fact that even that grudge is a little bit too extreme… But Weiss? You can tell that she's not the same Weiss who we all met together when we met at Beacon, can't you?

Blake: Don't kid yourself! Her kind is incapable of truly changing to something they can never be, so why should I even bother? An Atlesian is an Atlesian, it's that simple.

Byleth: If that's how you see it, then you're no different to how Weiss see the Faunus as "Backstabbing & Filthy Half-breeds".

Blake: What did you just say?!

That comment really got on Blake's nerves. The fact that Byleth had the guts to compare Blake's prejudice towards Atlesians & by extension most humans to Weiss' own prejudice towards the Faunus makes her blood boil, how dare she even say such a thing?!

Blake: You have guts, I'll give you that… Unfortunately, you're as foolishly ignorant as you are an overpowered demon on the battlefield… Unlike you, I've witness what these monsters are capable off first hand, they're all far beyond redemption! They should be grateful that I have a very strict "no-kill policy" that I carry through my blades…

Byleth: Oh really?... Then answer me this, what are you going to do once you finally find that supposed "High-ranking Atlesian Military Officer" you're after? Are you going to hold onto that policy of yours, or are you going to kill them? You said it yourself, you're seeking vengeance for someone, right?

Blake quietly groans in annoyance, now feeling that Byleth is able to pick up on her many contradictions. She really wants to leave this conversation, but Byleth isn't done yet.

Byleth: You told me that you want a world where all are equal, Humans & Faunus living together as a unit, yet your attitude doesn't really reflect that… Unless of course, that's just another one of your many facades that you put up to keep your cover…

Blake is suddenly confused by that statement, not knowing what Byleth is talking about. But then Byleth grows a smirk on her face as she forms small cat ears above her head with her fingers. Blake immediately freaks out & draws both of her swords, now knowing that Byleth knows her secret… Somehow!...

Blake: That old bastard told you, didn't he?!

Byleth gives Blake a smug look as she crosses her arms while shaking her head.

Byleth: Nah, it was more of a hunch I had for a while. You never expose the top of your head to anyone, so I figured you were hiding something. *Winks* Thanks for confirming my hunch, though.

Blake then gets flustered & unbelievably pissed off. Byleth made her think that Ozpin told Byleth her secret just to bullshit with her, only for Byleth to then confirm that it was just a guess she had & was able to trick Blake into spilling the beans to her. Blake then groans in annoyance as she sheathes back her blades, but still keeping her eyes on Byleth.

Blake: Okay, you got me… What do you want & why does my heritage matter to you?

Byleth: Nothing really, I just wanted a bit more context. While I'm not fully familiar with the true history between Humans & Faunus, or all I need to know about Remnant's true history for that matter… What I do know is that continuing this meaningless squabble is a waste of time, both yourself & Weiss should begin considering a little bit about your own beliefs before either of you do something you'll regret doing in the future.

[Music: "Shinto Princess Kikyo" from Inuyasha]

Those words really got into Blake's nerves. Her soft hazel eyes suddenly turned into a sharp, deadly shade of gold. Blake immediately disappears & then reappears in front of Byleth like she just somehow teleported, grabbed Byleth by her jacket & glared at her in the eye. A glare that is filled with venom & distain from past experiences, it doesn't help that Blake is quite a bit taller than Byleth & is essentially towering over her.

Blake: Meaningless?! Don't give me that shit, woman! What about all of the ruined lives they're responsible for?! All of the people they killed?! All of the families they destroyed just so that they can hog all of the power for themselves?! Tell me! Did any of those things had any actual meaning?! If you so much as even think about giving me that "It was for the greater good of humanity" crap, I'll make you wish you were never born!

Byleth was rather surprised. To think that she was able to see Blake getting this angry, she expects this kind of behavior from Dimitri after he learned The Flame Emperor's true identity. Even so, Byleth still pushes on.

Byleth: Then what about The White Fang?! They suddenly became a group of extremists & terrorists 5 years ago, killing anyone who dared get in their way! I understand going after the people who've wronged them, but what about those who always get caught in the crossfire?! What was their crime?! Were those also made for the greater good?!

Blake doesn't answer Byleth's questions directly, she just looks away with a conflicted look while gritting her teeth. After taking a deep breath, she lets go of her teacher.

Byleth: Just as I thought, you don't even have a real answer… But that does make me wonder, do you have some sort of connection to The White Fang? A supporter, an ex-member, or maybe even some sort of double agent?

Blake looks back at Byleth, who's giving her the look of someone who's not only serious about what she's saying, but also a look that's from someone who's seen some real shit. Blake just scoffs at her question & walks past her, ready to leave.

Blake: Enough! I've had of you getting into my business, I don't have time for your-

Byleth: You do know I'm not your true enemy, don't you?

That statement suddenly made Blake stop in her tracks. She turns back a bit & sees Byleth going towards her, but not like how Blake thought she would.

Byleth: I don't want to fight you if I don't have to; I don't want to fight any of my students. I'm your professor, not your enemy. I know you think the others aren't your real friends & that you're better off alone… But you're wrong…

Blake widens her eyes in confusion at Byleth's statement before she continues speaking.

Byleth: Ruby, Yang, Pyrrha & I do care about you & given enough time, I'm certain the others will feel the same way. If you didn't, then why would you bother spending so much time with them? Is this yet another façade you put up? Or is it something more?... Some form of longing of yours? A desire for a certain connection you'd hold dear?

Blake looks down with a sad look in her eyes, conflicted on what Byleth just said about Blake seeking possible connections & wanting to have someone there for her, as opposed to being all alone by herself 24/7.

Byleth: Look… I don't know what happened to you in the past, nor will I pretend to know what kind of upbringing you've had… What I do know is that you're hurt… Very hurt… But things are different now & if you just give this a chance, you can see that…

Byleth then reaches her hand out to Blake, who looks at said hand in confusion before looking back at Byleth. Byleth's expression isn't one of suspicion, distrust or anything of the sort. It's more of a concerned Mother trying to help her child through their struggles.

Byleth: So please… Let us help you… {Let me help you!...}

Blake takes a moment to herself as she looks back between Byleth & her reached out hand, but before even coming to Beacon Academy, Blake's mind was already made up. She kindly takes Byleth's hand, only to slowly lower it, all the while having the look of someone who has far too many regrets.

Blake: I'm sorry, Professor, but-… No… It's far too late for me… It's better for me to keep my distance whenever I can, I've already accepted that reality long ago…

Byleth is taken aback at Blake's response, not knowing what to say anymore. Without another word, Blake leaves the beach & goes to whereabouts unknown as Byleth looks down in a bit of sorrow, feeling like she failed to truly connect with her student.

[Music End]

Before she could process all that has happened, she feels her Scroll vibrate from her pocket. She reaches for said Scroll & reads Ruby's message, saying that the food has just arrived. Byleth quickly replies to Ruby, saying that she's on her way. She begins walking back to where she came from as the young Faunus Ronin passes through her thoughts, she can think about their recent discussion after she goes back to her quarters.

Cut back to Buccellati's where the team is feasting on an incredible seafood luncheon. The Rose Xiao-Long Sisters ordered many delicious meals, which consists of a plate of takoyaki, a few large lobsters, steamed clams, some fried crabs, squid ink ramen, oysters, many types of fried fish & french fries. The team was surprised by what the Sisters have ordered them, but it was a very welcomed surprise. Weiss in particular loved the steamed clams, they were truly delicious & weren't as salty as she thought they would be.

Weiss: By the heavens, this is amazing! How come I've never been able to eat something this delicious before in my life?

Jaune: I mean, it might be a little bit difficult to get good seafood at Atlas… Since it's-… Ya'know, at an artic continent?

Weiss: Hm… Point taken.

Weiss eats another steamed clam as Jaune eats another french fry, all the while they ignore the loud eating noises coming from Ruby, Yang, Nora, Pyrrha & especially Byleth.

Nora (Mouth full): Holy crap, this is delicious! This Buccellati's place knows how to make great food! *Swallows her food* Hey Ren, did you share your recipes with these guys?

Ren: No Nora, I did not… & What did I tell you about talking with your mouth fu-

Ren immediately gets ignored by Nora as she takes another chunk of a lobster, the young man just sighs in annoyance as he eats his bowl of squid ink ramen. Ruby & Yang have ordered a huge pot of ramen, accompanied with some nice bowls for anyone who wants a bowl of ramen… Not that Ren's complaining though, this squid ink ramen is delicious!

As for Byleth, Pyrrha & the 2 Rose Xiao-Long Sisters?... Dear god, they don't have any table manners whatsoever. They keep eating whatever they can get their hands on, in the case of Pyrrha, eating some nice fried fish. Ruby finishes eating some takoyaki before she looks at Pyrrha, wondering why she's eating like they are.

Ruby: Say Pyrrha, how come you're eating this much?

Pyrrha looks at Ruby curiously before she continued.

Ruby: Well- I'm not one to judge, I eat a lot as well. But aren't you some kind of celebrity? If so, then why eat so much? Aren't you worried that you might-… Ya'know…

Ruby looks down at that last statement, not really wanting to say something that's really rude. Thankfully for her, Pyrrha isn't one to get easily offended by such things & answers Ruby's question with the usual kind-hearted tone Pyrrha is known for.

Pyrrha: Oh, it's quite alright Ruby. While it's true that I'm a celebrity, I'm also a warrior like all of you. I have to eat a lot, so that I can quickly lots of some calories in my training sections. You'd be surprised at the bento boxes I had back in my days as a warlord.

Ruby: Wait- seriously?! Man… I'm kinda jealous of you for that, I'd love to have bento boxes!... Then again, I'm not really all that different. I also eat a lot so I can burn lots of calories during training & so does Yang.

Yang comes next to Ruby with her mouth stuffed in a large piece of lobster.

Yang (Mouth full): Damn straight I do!

Ruby rolls her eyes as Yang goes back to eating her share before the former looks back at Pyrrha, just as she's eating another piece of fried fish.

Ruby: Is that why you're in such a good shape as well? The only other girl I know who has biceps & abs like those is my Bis Sis.

Pyrrha: *Blushes* Oh, come on Ruby. you're embarrassing me.

While the girls keep chatting & enjoying the meal, Gayelette is just watching it all with a very overwhelmed expression on her face. Is this what being in a friend group is like? Something like this would never be possible in a nation like Atlas. But while the young Goodwitch is in her little space, she feels Sothis place an arm around her shoulders while having a piece of fried crab in her free hand.

Sothis: So, enjoying the show? Is the food any good?

Gayelette: Wha- Oh yes, it's delicious! I'm just- overwhelmed, that's all…

Sothis: "Overwhelmed"? Oh, I remember now! This is the first time you had a feast like this one, isn't it? I bet that Atlesian feasts are a slog to go through compared to this.

Gayelette: You are correct, yes… Pardon my rudeness, but-… *Blushes* must you to be this close to me? It's rather embarrassing…

Sothis takes notice of this as she realizes that she has one of her arms wrapped around Gayelette's shoulders, but she doesn't see why this would be a problem.

Sothis: Huh? Why? I don't see anything wrong with it.

Gayelette: *Blushes harder* It's just- I'm not very accustomed to have someone be this close to me, especially in public.

Sothis: I see. Alright, sorry if I invaded your personal space.

Sothis then lets go of Gayelette & backs off a bit, just as the latter eats some oysters. They were truly delicious, nothing in Atlas can compete with a meal like this.

Gayelette: I've never thought that something like this was possible, I've never seen a group of people be so… Casual with one another, it's quite the breath of fresh air.

Sothis: You got that right… Friends is just- eating some great food together, while talking & laughing about the dumbest things on their mind. It's not about political finances or any of that garbage, it's about just- spending time with each other, ya'know?

Gayelette smiles at Sothis' comment, feeling like she can finally be herself for once in her life, instead of a very shy & sheltered little girl.

Gayelette: I see, that sounds like a dream come true. Thanks for letting me come along, Sothis. This means a lot to me.

Sothis just smirks while shooting Gayelette a thumbs up, something that's usually more associated with Ruby. Speaking of the Red Reaper, she suddenly puts her plate down, grabs her drink & stands up while catching the attention of everyone else.

Ruby: Alright guys, listen up! We've been together as a team for almost a whole month & in less than 2 weeks, we'll be having our first mission as The Garnet Papillons! I don't know about you guys, but I'm glad to have the chance to go out & start my journey as a Huntress with you all! I know we had our missteps & I know we're going to face many more trials & tribulations in the near future. But I know that as long as we stick together & never give up, we have a chance! It's true that Prof. Eisner was the one who saved us all against Cardin in his-… *Looks at Byleth* What did you call that thing again, Prof.?

Byleth: A Demonic Beast.

Ruby: Thank you, Prof. Eisner. *Looks back at the others* Cardin in his Demonic Beast form, but I also know that if we didn't work together as well as we did in that battle, we all would've been killed & by the time Prof. Eisner would've arrived, it would've already been too late! So I say that we all learn from each other & grow together, as a team!

Everyone sitting on that table pays very close attention to Ruby's little speech, all with varies, yet similar reactions. Weiss & Ren for instance (but mostly Weiss) are taken by surprise by Ruby's words, quickly getting invested into what she's saying. Nora just thinks that Ruby's being really cool right now, Jaune & Pyrrha look admirably at their little red friend & Yang has the expression any Big Sister would have at that moment, she's really proud of her little pride & joy.

Sothis smiles as she hears Ruby's speech, but can't help but feel a nice bit of cheesiness in said speech, while Gayelette looks at Ruby at awe. A speech like that doesn't sound so different from any speeches Nicholas II would give every now & then, she can't help but feel rather nostalgic as she hears Ruby's words.

As for the Ashen Demon herself, this feels like a speech one of the House Leaders from Garreg Mach would come up with. Bold & striking like Edelgard, humble & honorable like Dimitri, but also loud & cheerful like Claude. If these kids were ever students in Garreg Mach Monastery, Byleth is certain that they'd all get along just fine… Or at least, she hopes so, given what happened in Fódlan before she died… Even so, she can't help but be proud of Ruby at this moment, seeing how much she's grown in such a short amount of time. If things keep going the way they are, Byleth will succeed in her mission.

Ruby then takes her glass of water & raises up to her eye level.

Ruby: Which is why I propose a toast, a celebration to our newfound comradery! As our journey together begins, I'm sure we'll have many more adventures to come! Many more Grimms to cut down, many more bad guys to throw behind bars & after every successful mission, a big feast where we all talk & laugh about whatever the heck we want; just like the one we're having now!

Everyone looked at each other before smiling & raising their respective drinks.

Ruby: All together now…

Everyone: KANPAI!

Everyone cheered as they brought their drinks together & followed up by taking a nice sip of said drinks. The team all kept eating & chatting throughout the entire luncheon, completely unaware of what's happening in the shadows.

In a dark alleyway, a very short girl (Even shorter than Nora) with pink & brown hair finishes talking to someone & putting her scroll on her pocket. She takes her parasol & opens it, just as she looks at the shining sun to the side. This is the same girl who was with Roman back when he was talking with The Fall Empress, the one with the bandages wrapped on her neck. But then she started to speak & her voice kinda sounds… Artificial.

Parasol Girl: "Don't cause too much trouble" she said, what an idiot…

The Parasol Girl then suddenly turn her entire body into glass, only to shatter into many pieces. This kind of ability is very similar to Ruby's or Blake's, yet this one feels a little more… Deadly!... What is this girl planning? What is she after & why does her voice sound artificial? RWBY: The Verdant Light of Remnant - Chapter 16: A Nice Day to Spread Your Wings - End

Author's Notes: Ok, that was a struggle, but in a sloggy & slow kinda way, unlike C14 which was a nightmare to write since writing action scenes with words alone SUCK! Alright, question time!

1: Why is Neo not mute here? Or rather, why is it stated that she has an artificial voice? This will become clearer in the future, mainly late part 1 & especially part 2, but to give a brief summary, Neo's muteness here is a PHYSICAL injury instead of being a trauma thing or something she's just born with. By the time i was coming up with the idea of this AU with TPoynt, Roman's Holiday wasn't out yet & it wouldn't release for another 2-4 months or so (Don't remember when exactly, i don't have a consistent memory) Meaning that Neo's CANON explanation for her muteness was still unknown. While it's not directly STATED as far as i'm aware (& If it is, please correct me in the comments, just please don't be an ass about it) It's something she was BORN with rather than being a traumatic event in her life, cause Neo NEVER talked in Roman's Holiday as far as i can remember, period! So because of that, i had to come up with something since i wasn't willing to wait more months to write this story, especially with an schedule as focked up as mine. So instead, i decided to do something that i DON'T think any other fanfic writer did in a story like this: Make Neo's muteness a PHYSICAL injury, IE: she suffered some sort of permanent damage in her vocal cord & because of that, she can't speak. As you'll learn later in the story, she has artificial vocal cords, basically prosthetics. That's why she has bandages around her neck, so that she can hide her scars & injuries beneath said bandages.

As to why i did this exactly? I'm not the best writer, mainly about expressing body language with words alone & because a bit part of what makes Canon Neo so great is her body expression, i don't think i would be able to do it justice due to my lack of experience. Miles, Kerry, Eddy & everyone else could certainly do it & as we saw with E.C. Myers, he was able to do it really well... But i'm NOT really good writers like THEY are, so i don't think i'd be able to pull it off. (& Yes, i DO mean that Miles, Kerry & Eddy are really good writers inspite of their respective flaws) Besides, the story i'm going here with Neo wouldn't work as well if she didn't interact with others with words or something along those lines, so i HAD to come up with something. If you see this as a problem... I'm not gonna blame you! Trust me when i say that i'm very mixed about this as well, but i'm confident that i can do something good with it.

2: Blake is edgier than usual here, to the point where she straight up admits that she'd let Weiss die if given the chance. Why is that? That will be explained in the Black & White section of the story which will be in 5-7 chapters from now, give or take. Her moment with Byleth where she says that it's too late for her is foreshadowing what you'll learn about Blake in this universe, mainly about her past as The Manslayer. Again, if you watched/read Ruronin Kenshin, you're gonna have a good idea of where i'm going with this. Blake is easily my favorite character, but if i had to pick something i DON'T like about her is her really inconsistent mood changes in earlier volumes, mainly 1. Before joining RWBY, she's all quiet & distant, but then comes C9 & C10 where she goes BANZAI with The Rose Xiao-Long Sisters & even waves a small RWBY flag... This is something Blake would do since V7, where she KNOWS she can be more vulnerable around her friends, not at the start of the series. Then comes the last 2-4 chapters or so & she's kinda all over the place, although that's almost mostly because The White Fang in general wasn't handled well in canon. I'm trying to do something more with Blake, since there's alot of unexplored areas that i wish to see & evolve in someway... However, i confess... I might've taken her edginess here a LITTLE too high up this time... Don't worry though, she'll get pass this eventually.

Anyways, that's all i have for today, thank you all for your patience & support. Once again, thank you Monty Oum for creating such an icon of a franchise, we owe SO MUCH to you, may you keep resting in peace. This has been Remnant Bardock & until our next meeting, have a wonderful day, my friends!
