Yami To Boushi to Hon no Tabibito: Ever After

Interlude: Eve at the Locket

Eve stamped her foot in annoyance. "Oooh, she is so dumb!" she growled angrily, the pretty blond sitting at a table in Arisugawa's Locket. She liked stopping in at the bar between incarnations, and she could use her powers to make sure Hazuki and the others weren't there when she was.

In theory, Eve should disapprove of the Locket, and she did, kind of. The bar had the unique ability to travel between the 'books' of the Great Library. People doing so tended to be disruptive to the books in general, and Eve disliked that. On the other hand they kept the messes they made to a minimum, mostly, and the staff seemed aware of the possible dangers.

Besides, they served GREAT food & drinks.

Washu looked amused, the sometimes goddess hanging out with her. Her angular hair stuck up wildly as she noted, "Not dumb, just clueless."

"Okay, there is that," Eve conceded.

Both of them had been watching the journey Hazuki, Lilith and Quill had been taking across realities. It was fairly entertaining, especially considering their knack for getting into trouble. Eve was even thinking of putting it on the internet as a web series.

"And at least she isn't going to bed with all the other women throwing themselves at Hazuki," Washu pointed out.

"Ugh, yes," Eve sighed.

In almost EVERY world Eve saw them travel into, some attractive woman put the moves on Hazuki. She was practically a chick magnet! Understandably, of course. She was tall, dark and bishoujo, as they say, as well as aloof, which drew a certain kind of girl like flies. Like that Asuka woman, from the robot world. And Quill, of course. And the knight girl on Mundus Magicus...

"Whom Hazuki never even noticed," Washu pointed out.

"Fair enough," Eve sighed.

A familiar figure wandered over, drinking a cup tea. "Well, if it isn't Eve," the Doctor smiled at them faintly.

"Doctor," Eve sighed. "We aren't going to fight again, are we?"

The woman in the long, billowing coat sat down. "No, this is neutral territory," the Doctor admitted, "besides, I waned to talk to you."

"Oh?" Eve asked a bit warily.

"I encountered Lilith here not long ago, relatively speaking," the Doctor noted, "you are aware they are looking for you?"

Eve sighed, "It's a bit of a long story..."

With that she, along with various comments from Washu, explained the situation. As they did, the Doctor sat there with the oddest look on his face.

"What?" Washu asked.

"It sounds like the plot of some bad romantic comedy," the Doctor admitted.

Eve pouted, "At least say it would be a good romantic comedy."

Washu snickered while the Doctor rolled her eyes. "I have a question for you," the Doctor said.

Warilly Eve answered, "Uh huh."

"What is the definition of insanity?" the Doctor asked, sipping her tea.

"Huh?" Washu blinked, wondering where that was coming from.

"The first time you disappeared, Lilith and Hazuki chased you across realities while Lilith tried to shag Hazuki, and failed," the Doctor continued calmly.

"Shag?" Eve asked, looking amused.

"I spend a lot of time in England,"the Doctor shrugged, "have sex with etc etc."

"Carry on," Washu said thoughtfully.

"So your bright plan to get them together is to have Lilith and Hazuki chase you across realities... again," the Doctor said.

"Ugh," Eve grunted.

"One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different result," the Doctor said dryly, getting back to his original point.

"Oh dear," Eve sighed, resting her head on her arm.

"She DOES have a point," Washu admitted reluctantly.

The Doctor sipped her tea. "Not that I'm one to talk, considering..." she admitted.

No one brought up that the Doctor's only romantic success had been with River Song, whom most would agree was a little nuts. "So what do we DO?" Eve asked indignantly.

"Got me," The Doctor shrugged.

"Oh THAT's helpful," Washu sighed.

Eve sighed and decided to order another drink. Now if she could only manage to convince anyone she was of age and get them to give her some booze...

To be continued...

Notes: Short chapter is short. Sorry. Been nursing a sick relative. It occurred to me that someone should point out to Eve that just throwing Hazuki & Lilith together won't necessarily work...
