They were all sitting at the Gryffindor table. Harry had already told Hermione and Ron about going to Dumbledore after the burial. He was looking at Paige's hand he was playing with while she had her head on his shoulder.
Yesterday she had told him about her real mother. and that they probably got the connection when both of their mothers had died when they didn't have too.
Harry still felt difficult about the feeling Felix had given him about Paige telling him not to tell her anything that was going on.
Paige sighed loudly, lifting her head up. 'I need to get some fresh air.'
'Alright.' Hermione said, as Ron was nodding.
'Shall I go with you?' Harry suggested.
'Yeah, okay.' Paige smiled softly, taking Harry's hand.
When walking outside, Harry made up his mind. He didn't want to tell Paige not nothing, whatever Felix had said to him. He turned to her. She looked with a questioning look.
'Well, I got to speak with Dumbledore yesterday….'
'All right. Did it go well?'
'Yeah, well we found some answers.. but most of all when we find what we are looking for I will get to go with him.'
'Really now..' Paige said, not sure if she should ask more about it.
'Don't you want to know what we are looking for?'
'Um.. No, that's alright.' She mumbled, even though she was 17 now and wouldn't have to go back to Ashley she still didn't feel that it was safe for Harry to talk about stuff like that with her. 'That's between you and Dumbledore.' She added looking at Harry's surprised face.
'Right, yeah…' Harry said, thinking again about the feeling Felix had given him. Had she felt it too?
They both got distracted when they saw Katie Bell! Harry and Paige run towards her.
Before Harry could ask anything she already said, 'Sorry Harry I don't remember who gave me the necklace.'
'That's okay Katie, we are just glad you are fine.' Harry said having a difficult time to suppress his disappointment.
'Sorry, Harry.' Paige said when they were alone again.
'It's okay… Really!' He added seeing Paige 'not believing you' face.
He pulled her closer towards her. Cupping his hand on her cheek. She leaned against his palm, giving it a small kiss. He felt butterflies release in his stomach. Just the way she looked at him made him feel all fuzzy inside. Without even thinking he kissed her. She kissed back, placing her arms along his hip, clutching on his sweater.
It felt really good having her back in his life… He had not realized how much he had actually missed her when she wasn't with him. He loved that he could kiss her again without thought and that she kissed him back. He wanted to tell her he loved her, but felt it would be better to wait until she would say it first.
Her parents had scared her a lot and he wanted to give her space to process everything that had happened to her. Paige had probably realized it really wasn't safe to love Harry Potter. But yet she was here, kissing him. She wanted to be with him, even though it was dangerous.
Harry pulled her closer, if that was even possible. She moaned slightly as he did. Oh man he loved the sounds she made. Life wasn't so bad now. Paige put her hands in his hair. He loved the touch of it. Their tongues brushing against each other. It took them quite some time before they parted. His lips red from kissing.
He picked her up so that her feet got off the ground and spun her around hearing her laugh. Which was an amazing sound. 'I'm glad I have you back, you know.'
'I'm glad to be back with you too!'
Harry and Paige hadn't had much time after that with each other. Harry was busy with the Quidditch finales. But now that Katie and Ron were back he felt much more confident.
Paige was walking in the hallways when she saw Harry quickly entering a bathroom. She waved at him but he didn't seem to notice, so she decided to wait for him.
They could maybe snog a bit before he had to train again. Walking towards the door she could hear spells being fired and shattering of glass.
Shocked, she ran into the boy's bathroom. She saw Draco and Harry having their wands pointed at each other. Harry was laying on the wet floor.
'Cruci-' Draco started, his face contorted.
Paige didn't even have the time to say something when Harry bellowed; 'SECTUMSEMPRA!'
Blood spurted from Draco's face and chest as though he had been slashed with an invisible sword. He staggered backward and collapsed onto a waterlogged floor with a great splash. his wand falling from his limp right hand.
'No⎼' gasped Harry, but before he could get himself to Draco. Paige ran towards him instead, her face never being this pale before.
'D⎼ Draco!' She cried, falling on her knees next to her best friend. There was blood everywhere. He was shaking uncontrollably. 'Draco! No, no, no, no⎼.' this couldn't be happening! She tried stopping the bleeding but everywhere she looked she saw blood. She caught Draco's eyes, they had tears streaming down from them..
'Pai⎼ Paig..' Draco tried stretching his hand towards her. She grabbed it, squeezing it tight.
'Draco, please!' She started to sob, no she didn't want him to die! She wanted to help Draco.
'No⎼ I didn't mean⎼.' Paige heard Harry croak. Her hands were covered in Draco's blood. She was still trying to stop the bleeding.
She looked up at Harry. 'Harry, what did you do?' She asked, eyes bloodshot. Her heart was pounding in her ears. How could Harry do something like this? She knew he didn't like him but to do this.
Harry froze, the way she looked at him he had never seen before. For the first time ever Paige looked afraid of him.
'No, Paige⎼ Please… I didn't mean⎼' Harry stuttered, feeling tears coming up. Paige could not think he wanted to do this. This was not his plan.
The door banged open behind Harry and he looked up, terrified. It was Snape, his face was livid. He ignored Harry and made his way over to Draco and Paige. He kneeled next to them.
Paige was sobbing, trying to wipe away her tears with her elbow. Bloody hands shaking intensely. Her eyes were red and puffy. They watched as Snape drew his wand and traced it over the deep wounds on Draco's body, muttering an incantation. The flow of blood seemed to ease, he continued his incantation. Now the wounds seemed to be knitting together again.
Harry was still watching, horrified with what he had done, barely aware that he too was soaked in blood and water.
'He needs to go to the hospital wing.' Snape said to Paige who looked up. 'There may be a certain amount of scarring, but if he takes dittany immediately we might avoid even that… Help me lift him up, miss Prince.'
Paige put Draco's arm over her shoulder as did Snape. Supporting him across the bathroom, turning at the door Snape said in a cold voice, 'and you, Potter… You wait here for me.'
Harry glanced at Paige before they left. She didn't look at him, tears still streaming over her face.
Paige was in the hospital wing, Draco was sleeping in one of the beds. They were just in time, his scarring slowly fading. After Paige, Draco and Snape had arrived at the hospital wing the professor went directly back to Harry. Madam Ponfry was so shocked at the look of the two. Paige was covered in his blood, holding up a very weak Draco. She had taken him from her and demanded Paige to wash herself off.
Blood was apparently quite hard getting off of your hands. She could still see the blood stain on it.
Blaise and Pansy entered the room. Pansy ran towards him, throwing herself upon him. Sobbing quietly. Blaise placed himself next to Paige putting his hand on her shoulder.
'You okay?' He asked gently. He had never sounded more gentle. Paige bit her lip, trying to keep the tears in.
She just nodded quickly, keeping her eyes on Draco. She couldn't get the look of Draco's shaking body out of her head. She could still smell the blood that she was drenched in.
Pansy looked up, 'Oh Paige.' She cried making her way over to her. She hugged her tightly. 'What happened? Who did this?' She asked, releasing the hug.
Paige didn't know what to say, she didn't wanna tell that it was Harry. She couldn't believe Harry knew such a dark spell. He said he didn't mean it and at the look of his face she believed him… But still she felt weird..
'I found him in the bathroom.' Paige mumbled, looking at her shaking hands. She also knew for sure Draco was going for the Crusio curse before Harry said his spell.
'Did you see who did it?' She heard Blaise ask, pulling up a chair beside her.
'Harry⎼ Harry did it.' Paige croaked.
Her Slytherin friends were silent looking at each other.
'Whoa, I didn't know Potter had it in him…' Blaise finally said.
Pansy took another chair closer to Draco. 'He looks so peaceful now.' She said brushing his hair out of his face.
In the shortest time everyone knew that famous Harry Potter had gotten Draco in the hospital wing. Paige had heard he had gotten detention with Snape for the rest of the term. That meant he wouldn't be able to play the last Quidditch match. Of course she felt quite bad for him but she just couldn't get over the look on Draco's face when he was being slashed open.
Paige had not been eating well, sitting at the Slytherin table with Blaise and Pansy. She didn't even look Harry's way when he sat down with Ron and Hermione.
'She's not talking to you?' Hermione asked, seeing Harry staring at her.
'No, can you blame her?' He mumbled, 'It looked horrible whether or not it's your best friend.'
'I don't wanna say I told you so..' Hermione started.
'Leave it, Hermione,' said Ron angrily.
'But I told you there was something wrong with that Prince person.' Hermione continued not being able to stop herself.
'Hermione,' Ron said again.
'I didn't wanna do that, Hermione!' Harry said, tearing his eyes away from Paige. 'It looked horrifying and…' Harry sighed. 'And the look on Paige's face.. She'd never looked that scared.. Scared of me. I wished I hadn't alright..'
Hermione stayed quiet after that.
Harry jumped up when he saw Paige walking to the exit.
'Paige,' He called, just before she entered the door to the dungeon.
She turned around, looking worn out. 'Harry.' Her eyes avoiding his eyes.
'Paige, I just… I wanted to say that… I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to… I didn't mean to hurt Malfoy…' Harry stumbled, he looked remorseful.
She looked up in his eyes. He could feel the sorrow she felt, making him feel more guilty.
'I know you didn't mean to..' Paige said slowly. 'I just have to process it all…' She added.
'I know I screwed up, Paige. Please, don't hate me..' Harry said desperately. He couldn't handle Paige hating him.
'I don't hate you Harry.' She said quietly. 'I can't hate you…' She sighed. 'I just need some space that's all…'
'Right, I understand… Of course.' Harry said, trying to control his shaky voice. 'Again… I'm really sorry.'
'I know… Bye Harry.' She said entering the door, leaving Harry standing there…
Paige hadn't spoken with Harry for a few days, apparently the Gryffindors had won the Quidditch match even without their seeker.
She was sitting in the library. It was already quite late.
Someone pulled a chair next to Paige, looking up she saw Hermione.
'Hi, Paige.' She whispered. 'How are you doing?'
'Fine, Draco is also doing fine.. He will be able to leave the Hospital wing soon.'
'That's good…'
'How's Harry?' Paige couldn't help but ask.
'He's miserable. He feels terrible about what happened.'
'How did he even know that spell… Looked like dark magic…'
Hermione paused for a moment. 'It was written in that Half Blood Prince book.'
Paige looked at her friend. 'Really? That's awful.'
'I actually wanted to ask you about the half blood prince.' Hermione started.
'I told you, I don't know who⎼'
Hermione handed her a piece of newsprint with a photo of a girl around 15 years old. underneed it said: Eileen Prince, Captain of the Hogwarts Gobstones Team.
Paige stared at the photo for a few moments… 'I know her.'
'You do? She's family, right?'
'Yeah a great aunt… She is the mother of Snape.' Paige said casually.
'She's Snape's mother?' Hermione gaped at her.
'Yes.'
'Snape?'
'Yeah.'
'Professor Snape?'
'Yes.'
'The potion master.'
'Jup the potion master Snape.' Paige suddenly looked at Hermione in shock. 'You don't think Snape is the Half Blood Prince, do you?'
'Well, could it be?' Hermione asked.
'I… Well, I don't know… Snape is Half blood…'
'Really?'
'Yeah she had married a muggle.' Paige explained, pointing at the woman in the picture. 'And well, Snape did know the counterspell of the curse Harry used on Draco.'
They fell silent for a moment.
'I should tell, Harry!' Hermione finally said standing up.
'Yeah smart.' Paige agreed and Hermione sprinted away.
A few moments later Pansy took place beside Paige.
'Pansy.'
'Draco is asking for you, in the hospital wing.' She said for some reason looking quite guilty.
'Okay, I'll go see him..' Paige grabbed her stuff and put it in her bag. She was making her way to the hospital wing when she saw Harry running her way.
'Paige!' He said out of breath. 'Glad I caught you!'
'Did you talk to Hermione?' Paige asked, thinking this was about Snape.
'No not really, she did wanna talk to me about something but there is no time right now.' He moved closer towards her. 'I'm going with Dumbledore right now, we found something. But Paige⎼' He looked extremely serious. '⎼stay away from Draco, he is up to something.'
'Draco?' Paige looked confused. 'But Pansy just told me that he asked for me in the hospital wing.'
'No Paige, please. Find Ron and Hermione and they will give you some Felix Fortune.' He suddenly hugged her tightly. 'Take care of yourself.' He said to her before sprinting further.
Paige stood frozen for a moment… What was she going to do? She shook her head, deciding to go to Draco first. After that she would look for Ron and Hermione.
