Chapter Three
"Text me?" Sam asked as Gemma pulled into Charlie's driveway.
"Or you could come in." Gemma offered as she climbed out of the now parked truck.
"I would but my shift at the shop starts in twenty minutes." Sam replied looking crestfallen, causing Gemma to put down her bags and turn her full attention to Sam.
"There is one other thing I didn't mention because I didn't want to pressure you but I guess you should know in order to be prepared. Fae females are extremely loyal and loving to all of their mates at all times. And by loving I mean-" Gemma cut herself off by wrapping her arms around Sam's neck and pulling him closer to her as she kissed him senseless.
Pulling back Gemma smirked in satisfaction at Sam's love-drunk look before noting that he now only had five minutes to get to his shift in time.
"You might want to run there in your wolf form. I don't think you have enough time to drive the speed limit." Gemma told him pulling him out of his stupor and causing him to blink several times before he gave her a heavy look and dropped a kiss on her forehead,
"Tease." He muttered before he ran into the forest causing Gemma to grin as she shut off the truck and pocketed the keys.
Walking into her old bedroom Gemma felt a wave of nostalgia sweep over her as she looked over the white walls that she had painted and drew on over the years. The sheer black curtains and matching black rugs made her smile while the deep blue bedspread brought back fond memories.
*It's good to be home.* Gemma thought as she put her bags down beside her bed and flopped backwards to look up at the ceiling as she enjoyed the feeling of peace and tranquility being at Charlies always brought her.
Back in Arizona, Renee was constantly going through Gemma's bedroom and using nanny-cams to spy on her which had led to Gemma blowing up at Renee more than once.
"I can understand her being frightened of me because I did kill two people that she knows of but still the level in which she invaded my privacy was insane." Gemma muttered, still feeling anger and resentment over Renee's actions.
Wanting to shake off the past Gemma sprang into action and began to go through her bedroom, throwing away what she didn't want any more to give herself more room for the things she had brought with her.
By the time Charlie and Bella finally got home Gemma had fixed her bedroom up and made a list of things she needed in order to perfect her room. She had also started a nice homemade potato soup and was setting up the table when Charlie and Bella walked through the front door.
"Smells good." Charlie said as he walked in taking a deep sniff appreciatively.
"That's one of the few things I missed while you were away." Bella said teasingly, causing Gemma to laugh knowing Renee couldn't boil water without burning the pan.
"You know I'm always willingly to teach you lil sis." Gemma offered as they all sat down.
"Yeah, but why bother learning when your here to cook for me?" Bella asked with a grin and shrug causing Gemma to roll her eyes before they all began to enjoy their food.
"I'll take care of the cleanup. I'm sure you girls have had a long day." Charlie said standing up and beginning to clean up the dishes.
"Okay thanks Charlie." Gemma and Bella said in unison as Gemma picked up one of Bella's suitcases and started up the steps quickly followed by Bella.
"Where do you want this?" Gemma asked as she walked into Bella's room turning so she could see Bella.
"Just leave it on the floor, I'll unpack it tomorrow." Bella replied, sounding tired.
"Okay. Night Bells." Gemma said setting down the suitcase and walking to her bedroom.
"Night Gem!" Bella's voice echoed down the hallway behind Gemma as she walked to her bedroom and shut her door, locking it behind her.
"Now what should I do?" Gemma wondered as she glanced around her bedroom, her gaze stopping on the window seat that had always been her favorite place to sit.
"It's been a while since I've practiced anything, maybe I should do a little meditating…" Gemma decided. Showering Gemma changed into a pair of boy shorts and an overly large T-shirt before opening the windows and setting down with her back to her now locked bedroom door.
Closing her eyes Gemma focused on slowing her breathing down as she calmed her mind and began to focus on her heartbeat when she felt a shift in the air around her. Reacting instinctively, she launched her body into the air and twisted so she would be facing her attacker as her eyes flew open. Seeing the familiar face of one of her most loyal guards Gemma let go of her tension and calmed the magic around her that she had started to activate.
"What is your report Liuwen?" Gemma asked in the Fae tongue.
"As you thought there have been reports of the Blooded gathering together again. Their leader is mostly unknown all we have found out is that it is a female Fae. There has also been reports of several portals being opened between all three worlds and their leader was seen walking threw to Marbh." Liuwen reported.
"Make sure to keep me updated and tell our people to keep their distance. We don't want anyone to know that we know." Gemma replied.
"Your will my Queen." Liuwen replied before he vanished back to the Fae world.
"So... it's truly begun." Gemma sighed staring out at the night sky.
