Chapter Four
Waking up to the annoying beeping from her phone's alarm, Gemma used magic to shut it off. Relaxing in the comfort of her warm bed for a couple more seconds Gemma forced herself to sit up so she wouldn't fall back asleep. After Liuwen's report the night before she had decided to work on increasing that amount of magic she could use with her human body and that had exhausted her.
"Although if need be I can always shed my human body but then I'll never get it back and right now I want to remain as 'Gemma Swan'," Gemma thought as she stared at her hands.
"Gem you up yet?" Bella hollered from outside of Gemma's door causing Gemma to push away her thoughts as she called back,
"I'm awake if that's what you mean."
Bella's laughter drifted through the door and Gemma felt a smile touch her lips putting her in a good mood for the morning as she stood up and stretched feeling her stiff body relax a little.
"Now what should I do today?" Gemma muttered to herself as she looked around her bedroom. Once again realizing that things that she needed and or wanted to make her bedroom better Gemma decided to go shopping for the day and quickly changed out of her pajamas into a pair of white jean overalls overtop of a black tank-top that was covered with tiny hot pink skull's. A pair of black flip-flops and a hot pink beret completed her outfit, and she grabbed her cellphone and wallet before heading down the stairs ready to eat breakfast.
It was only after she finished making her triple egg, cheese and sausage breakfast sandwich and was sitting down to eat it that the events of the day before popped into Gemma's head causing her to remember that she had found her first mate and was now mated to Sam.
The remembrance caused her to pause in place with her sandwich halfway to her open mouth when her cell phone began to vibrate in her pocket pulling her back into the present. Since Bella had already left for school and Charlie was gone for work, Gemma used her magic to pull her cellphone out of her pocket and hold it at eye level as she took a bite of her sandwich. Nearly choking on it as she realized that Sam was video calling her, she quickly chewed her mouthful and took a sip of coffee before wiping off her mouth and accepting the call.
"Hey beautiful." Sam said with a grin as his face filled the screen causing Gemma to smile.
"Hello handsome." Gemma replied with a grin feeling that her morning had just gotten even better.
"Do you have any plans for the day?" Sam asked sounding hopeful, making Gemma curious as to what he was up to.
"Nothing concrete, I was just going to go pick up some things for my room." Gemma replied when there was a knock on the front door.
"Is there any chance I could get you to change your plans for the day?" Sam asked as Gemma got up from the table to answer the door.
"For you? Of course." Gemma replied with a wide grin as she opened the front door and blinked in surprise at the sight of Sam standing there.
"Would you like to come in for breakfast first?" Gemma asked laughing as she put her phone away and moved to the side so Sam could enter the doorway.
"Sure thanks!" Sam replied happily as he dropped a quick kiss on her lips.
After a filling breakfast Gemma changed her flip-flops and beret for tennis-shoes and a high-ponytail since she didn't know what Sam had planned for them to do and she wanted to be ready for anything.
"So do I get to know what we're doing or is it a surprise?" Gemma questioned Sam as they left, Gemma locking the front door behind them.
"It is something of a surprise but it's not really something 'to do' it's more like something I want to show you but first we need to head towards the Reservation." Sam replied with a somewhat nervous grin as he took her hand and they walked behind Charlie's house through the forest that led towards the reservation.
"So do you have any questions about what I told you yesterday?" Gemma asked as they walked figuring it was the perfect time to answer any possible questions since they were alone.
"Honestly I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that there are two other worlds that I never even knew existed. Not to mention the fact that there are beings other than vampires, werewolves and shape shifters but in another way it makes so much sense that there would be more to this world then we've been told. I- I was wondering if it's okay for me to tell Jared and Paul about this? They are my pack and I feel like they should be aware of all of this but also I don't know if it's okay to tell them because it's not my story to tell." Sam said his nervousness seeping out in his tone and the fact that he stuttered a little.
His question caused me to pause in order to think as I hadn't even considered the fact that someone other then he would need to know about such things.
"Gemma?" Sam said his voice soft and full of worry as he looked at me,
"Sorry Sam I was just lost in thought. Of course your pack needs to know about the truth as well, it might be difficult for them to believe it and I will have to get a promise from them to never tell anyone outside of the pack about any of this, even their mates until their mates are verified. If they can promise that then I have no problem telling them the truth." Gemma replied and was nearly crushed as Sam pulled her into a tight hug burying his face in her neck as he held her tightly.
His reaction caused Gemma to realize that he must have been worrying about this every since she had told him and it made her feel bad that she hadn't even thought about the fact that Sam was the leader of his pack and would feel horrible about not warning his pack of the new dangers he now knew existed.
Hugging Sam back just as tightly until he was ready to let go, they continued their walk with Sam with a peaceful silence between them.
