When she was entering the city, she stopped for a moment to take a breath and make a decision. If she put much more thought on that, she would get crazy. It wasn't supposed to be such a hard choice to make. Either she tell Amelia right away, or she just put an end to this, for good.
She grabbed her phone and scrolled down in her conversation with Amelia. Reading those texts all over again made her feel that sweet anticipation, the same one she felt when she read those for the first time. How could she do that with just a simple text? How did Amelia have all that power on her? She couldn't answer nor explain that, but it was clear that she couldn't possibly leave Seattle without letting Amelia know how she feels.
She would go for it and actually it didn't really matter the outcome. She wasn't expecting things to change, but she owed that to herself, to at least be honest. She needed to find Amelia and just spill it out. Arizona knew that she would probably be at Meredith's or Grey Sloan. Kai found her at a restaurant far from downtown, for God's sake, so she had hope that Universe would be easy on her at least for that part.
She decide to try Meredith's first and went straight to the house, without passing by the hotel before. She knew it was highly probably she would give up on this if she thinks too much. She needed to take advantage of her adrenaline running fast through her veins and just rip it off the band-aid. She knocked at Meredith's door and Zola opened. Soon enough it was possible to hear Amelia's voice behind her.
"Hi, Arizona" – Zola greeted her nicely.
"Zola, who is it?" – Amelia shouted, running towards the door to her surprise when she saw Arizona standing there.
"Hi, Zola, how are you?" – Arizona greeted the girl and just looked at Amelia, hoping she would understand why she was there.
"Zola, honey, can you watch Ellis and Bailey while I talk to Arizona for a moment? Call me if Scout wakes up, please" – Amelia asked her niece, calmly, even though she was highly nervous on the inside.
"Sure, aunt Amy" – Zola agreed and ran across the living room.
"Please don't run inside the house!" – Amelia shouted, worried – "Hi, you" – she greeted Arizona, with surprise written all over her face.
"Hey, I'm sorry to just come up, but can we talk?" – Arizona asked.
"Yes, of course. Is everything ok?" – Amelia asked, a little worried.
"It's not. And I don't know what to do" – Arizona said.
"What happened?" – Amelia asked, now preoccupied that was something not related to their relationship.
"I kissed someone today" – Arizona blurted out and it was possible to see Amelia's feature changing quickly.
"Hm… ok? I don't know why you're telling me this" – Amelia said, a little upset.
"Because it was supposed to be good. She's gorgeous, smart, fun, she likes me, she wanted that, she is a great kisser and…" – Arizona got interrupted.
"Ok, ok, I get it. She's perfect. Why are you telling me this? Do you want to hurt me?" – Amelia asked while battling the tears not to come down.
"No, Amelia. I don't want to hurt you. I'm trying to tell you I could be with someone that is the right fit for me. I should, in fact. But I'm not. I'm here. I drove from Oregon back to Seattle to tell you that I'm in love with you. It doesn't make sense, it is too fast, you don't want to be with me and I know all of that. But I would bury myself in regret if I'd board on a plane without letting you know. I'm in love with you. I can't be with nobody else because I only want to be with you" – Arizona let her heart speaks.
"Arizona…" – Amelia was starting to gather words to answer, but Arizona interrupted her.
"You don't need to say anything or do anything. I just needed you to know. I can leave now" – Arizona said, but Amelia grabbed her arm.
"Don't. Please" – Amelia pulled Arizona closer to her – "It's not true what you've said about me not wanting to be with you. I want to, so bad. I'm just… I'm trying to protect me and you from the train wreck I am"
"You're not. Stop saying that. You let other people tell you your whole life you weren't good enough, you weren't worth it and that's a lie. You're amazing, Amelia" – Arizona said with her lips really close to Amelia's.
There wasn't anywhere to go from there. They were both lost in lust and desire, tired of fighting against that feeling growing bigger and bigger inside their hearts. Without taking any longer, Amelia leaned on and placed her lips against Arizona's, fiercely. It seemed like a slow motion, stop-traffic kind of kiss.
Arizona felt like a dream. Amelia's lips were soft, almost silken, and pillowy against Arizona's. It was possible to feel the soft tickle of their breath beneath their noses, fingers carding through their hair as they breathed each other in. When they finally parted, foreheads touching, they were panting, breathing heavily. It was something not possible to be described.
"Do you wanna come in? I have the kids tonight since Meredith's on call. They have their bedtime coming in, though" – Amelia invited her.
"I don't want to get in the way of your night, I just needed to see you and tell you all of this" – Arizona explained, unsure of what she should do next.
"And now what? You just leave? Please, come in. We should talk through this. Stay" – Amelia insisted and Arizona nodded, heading inside Meredith's house.
