A/N. Thank you for all the Love! Your comments make my day!
Last night had been fun. Like really fun. It wasn't just the time spent watching the children interact or sharing in a happy memory from her childhood. It was just being relaxed and enjoying getting to know each other better. Hermione knew the look Draco got whenever he spoke of his son and knew he was a great father but seeing it in person was entirely different. As inappropriate as it was she walked around most the evening with wet knickers, he was a handsome man but as a father he was downright sexy. His patience and love shown through at all times. As they were parting she had debated asking him to leave Scorpious with Tippy then coming back to stay the night. However he had just met Bryony and she didn't want to risk her seeing him waking up at their house. So she reluctantly said goodbye with plans for the guys to floo over first thing so they could all floo to the Burrow together.
Getting Draco to agree to Sunday lunch had been trying but she eventually won out.
"Sunday dinner? As in at the Weasley's? With all the Weasley's? " he replied to her mentioning it again at dinner Friday, trying to keep his face in place. He knew she's looking for his reaction. He knew this day would come and had been trying to mentally prepare himself for it but he wasn't sure he would ever be ready for it. A house full of Weasley's.
"Well, probably not all, it's pretty informal, everyone comes when they are able."
"True but if you warn them they will all make a point to show up, won't they?" He replies catching her eye.
She shruged guiltily, "probably, but it's like ripping a bandaid off, once and it's done. After the awkward first time everything will be fine."
"You expect I'm going to even survive the first time?"
"Of course. They might grill you a little bit in the beginning but they'll be fine." Squeezing his hand she adds, "they all love me and they know I'm happy. They will grow to love you to, I promise. "
Draco gave her a look that screamed 'I doubt that' but kept his mouth shut and nodded his agreement. She had a point, she had already met his friends and it had gone well both times.
" I will let them know we will be coming together this Sunday."
"Fine but Thursday we will have dinner with Mother." Draco responded. Hermione had paled but nodded her head in agreement.
As she picked Bryony up yesterday to get ready for last night Hermione had warned Ron that she was planning on bringing Draco to Sunday dinner. She had hoped giving him a heads up would make it a little less awkward and that he would warn whomever he deemed necessary. Not 10 minutes after Hermione had left his flat her pendant warmed with a new message, Snake at the Burrow tomorrow! The rest of the afternoon the pendant warmed with every Weasley announcing their plans to attend minus Charlie who floo called her to tell her off for not giving him a better heads up. "You know I can't get an international portkey at a days notice!" The well muscled, scared red head declared, obviously upset.
"I'm sorry Charlie, I was trying to keep it low key. I didn't want a fuss made. I only warned Ron because he warned me before he brought Katie the first time."
"Fine," he huffed, "but I better get to meet him at Christmas."
Draco and Scorpious arrived promptly at 10:45, Draco looked a little pale but both had a determined look on their faces. At the last minute Bryony declared that Crookshanks needed to come with, rather than argue and cause them to be late Hermione agreed. Looking back at Draco's paler than usual face she sent the children through the floo first then turned to speak to the Slytherin. "Are you ready for this?"
"As ready as I can be." He attempted to smirk but it looked more like a grimace.
"No worries. I'll make sure everyone behaves." She paused putting her arms around his shoulders then pushed up on her toes to give him a small kiss, "by the way last night was perfect. " she kissed him again sighing as he wrapped his arms around her and swiftly swiped his tongue across her lips asking for entrance which she happily granted allowing their tongues to come together in a kiss that promised much more than they had time for. She whimpered then groaned as she pulled from his fierce embrace. He tried to pull her back, "we can be 30 minutes late right?" He growled lowly as she laughed and grabbed the floo powder, calling out 'the Burrow' as she stepped into the flames.
Draco took a moment to right his now painfully tight trousers and Occlude before grabbing the floo powder and following the witch to Merlin knows what on the other side. As the spinning stopped he stepped forward and opened his eyes to what appeared to by the family kitchen. Draco had never seen anything like it, both the kitchen at the Manor and the Hogwarts kitchens were underground. Both were bright but un naturally so because they had no windows. This was exact opposite. It was bright without a single torch lit. To his left was a dutch door to the yard with the top half left open to bring in an autumn breeze. There were shelves on every square inch of the walls. This room was obviously the kitchen but seem to double as just about everything else as well. On the wall across from the stove was what was obviously a potions bench with a large cauldron set up. The shelves around it filled precariously with ingredients and then a shelf of brewed potions nearby. He began brushing the soot off himself as he took a step further into the kitchen when a voice rang out, "look who finally decided to show up." He had hoped Hermione would have waited for him by the fireplace but she was nowhere to be seen, instead he was greeted by Potter, Weasel, the Twin. Exactly who he didn't want to be found in a room alone with.
He nodded tersely, "afternoon Potter, Weasel, Weasley." The Twin started grinning wickedly while Potter and Weasel side eyed each other. "You know you are surrounded by Weasley's Draco, your going to have to get used to calling us by our first names. Otherwise how will we know who your talking to?" The twin said smirking. Draco shuddered, this was going to be difficult.
Thankfully before any of them could say anything more Mrs Weasley came bustling into the kitchen from outside. "Oh good dear your here. Please come in. Sorry I wasn't here to greet you but I have a sneaking suspicion that I was purposely distracted so these buffoons could try and corner you. Welcome!" She said as she walked right up to him. He held put his hand and without pausing pushed it aside and gave him a hug. He tried to hide his shock while to buffoons in the other doorway laughed.
"Mrs Weasley, "
"I'll have none of that, its Molly dear." She turned to check a pot on the stove next to them, "as soon as Hermione came through the children dragged her outside to check out the gnomes in the garden. Bryony finds them funny and wanted to show them to young Scorpious. Your son is absolutely adorable I'll have you know. Tried to shake my hand to, hmpf." She set the knives behind her to chopping vegetables, "head on out back you can't miss them." She said pointing towards the door she had just entered from.
As she pointed in came Weaslette, seeing him she grinned like the Cheshire cat, "No worries Mum, I'll take him out." She was now 9 months pregnant and looked to be uncomfortable walking but she still moved with a swiftness of an athlete, pulling him outside with her. He visibly relaxed when he saw the others weren't going to follow. That feeling was short lived when the witch turned to him just outside thedoor, "so wanna explain why the children came through and then a full two minutes later Hermione came through looking flushed and throughly snogged?" He tried not to react to that statement but knew he was unsuccessful. "Relax I covered with Mum but the others noticed and won't be letting it go." Thankfully Draco was saved from having to answer when Scorpious came running up to him. His son had only been here less than 20 minutes and he was already a mess. The little boys hair was rumpled, he had dirt on his hands and knees and a smudge on his nose. But he was also beaming brightly. He was happy and thats really all that mattered. "Daddy, check out these funny gnomes." He said pointing over the small fence into the baren vegetable garden where gnomes were running around taunting the children inside. Hermione was laughing at Bryony and a little boy with Weasley red hair chasing a gnome that was sticking it tongue out at them before he ducked into a hole. Crookshanks was nearby swatting into a hole that he assumed another gnome was hiding in. Two little blonde girls were in a corner laughing at a gnome that kept popping up out of its hole to make funny faces at them. Hermione turned and saw them standing at the edge of the garden and beckoned them to join her then called all the children over. She introduced the two little girls as Victorie and Dominique who were the eldest Weasley's children. As she said their names both girls curtsied and smiled at him as behind them Bryony rolled her eyes. Then Hermione introduced him to Teddy Lupin. The little boy looked very closely at him then closed his eyes and scrunched his face in concentration, when he opened his eyes his hair was identical to Draco's and his eyes had lightened in color but weren't quite exact. Hermione laughed then conjured a mirror so the boy could look at himself. "Oh man, I still can't get eyes right. " he sighed dramatically. Hermione was quick to encourage him, "hey now, remember your Gran said eyes were hard for your Mum to, the further from your natural color the harder it is. Your getting much better. The hair is spot on." He shrugged then shook his head going back to the red hair and brown eyes he had been sporting before.
Draco just looked at Hermione in amazement. He knew his cousin was a metamorphmagus but he had never actually seen one transform in person. The little boy just nodded to them both then took off running, Bryony and Scorpious following after him.
10 minutes later they were just watching the children play when Weaslette poped back out calling to the girls that their parents had arrived. Hermione turned to Draco, "so you ready?" She asked nodding back towards the house. He had mocked the Weasleys and their home so often at school he yet he didn't know anything about them really. He had been standing there contemplating everything he had seen so far. He hadn't really known what to expect. The greeting from Mrs Weasley had surprised him, he didn't expect the matriarch of the family he had spent so much time tormenting in school to welcome him literally with open arms.
"I think I have to be." She nodded and called all the children inside, casting a scorgify on clothes and demanding each go right to the kitchen sink to wash up before going further into the house. Draco stood there as she mothered all the children, enjoying their reactions to her. Teddy groaned as she tried to wipe some dirt off his face, "Awww, Aunt Mione..."
Once the last child was inside she turned to Draco with a gentle smile, reaching for his hand to lead him into the house. They walked through the kitchen but as they went to go into what he assumed was a sitting room Hermione was called back towards the kitchen by Mrs Weasley. She gave him a light kiss on the cheek, "They don't bite I promise. " and pointed him in towards the sitting room. He was relieved to see that there were not only no blood Weasleys, just two Mrs' and a blessedly familiar face. He walked into the room and nodded to Katie Bell before sitting in the chair next to her, "Thank Merlin, a friendly face. You don't look surprised to see me, I didn't realize you were close to the Weasleys. " he asked. Both the other witch's in the room had kept up their conversation but he knew they were watching and listening to him. The one holding an infant he was certian was a chaser for Puddlemore so he knew she was the Twins wife. The other was a small brunette he was certain he had never met before.
"I'm seeing Ron, he told me last night you would be here."
"My condolences,"
"Rude. Figured I'd tag along for the show." She smirked at him.
"Thanks for the support."
"Oh I wouldn't miss this for the world. " Before he could retort people began coming into the room from everywhere all at once. Mrs Weasley, Fluer Weasley, Hermione and all the kids came in from the kitchen while Mr Weasley came from what looked like the front door with what looked like all the sons and Potter. Before Draco could stand or tension could build Scorpious saw who his father was speaking to and came straight to her, "Miss Katie! How are you? I haven't seen you in a while." He said as he hugged the witch.
"I'm great Scorp. How have you been little man?" She asked returning his hug. You could have heard a pin drop as everyone froze to watch the exchange unfold.
"I'm good. Do you know Miss Hermione? She's seeing my daddy."
"I do indeed, we went to school together. I consider her a great friend."
"Wait how do you know each other?" Weasley seemed to finally get his voice.
Katie looked pointedly at Malfoy then turned to her boyfriend to explain, "I take care of advertising for Malfoys various wizarding ventures. I met Scorpious here at his office a time or two."
Thankfully before anyone could question further Mrs Weasley called for dinner. Mrs Weasley herded the children towards the dinning room to the side while Hermione introduced Draco to anyone he might not know already.
They all headed into the dinning room where the children were set up at their own smaller table. Draco walked Hermione to the main table and pulled her chair out for her to sit. He then excused himself to the other table and began to fix a plate for Scorpious. Hermione couldn't help but smile to see yet again how wonderful he is with his son. Ginny followed her friends gaze and smiled at the sight herself. Their attention was drawn away as George sat in the seat to Hermione's right. The seat that everyone else had left for Draco. "Excuse you, that seat it taken."
"It is now that I'm here, thanks for keeping it for me." The twin quipped as he began to fix a plate for himself.
"Not you, its for Malfoy. Now move" Hermione glared at him. Anyone else would have immediately jumped to do as she said when faced with that glare but not George. He was the one person 100% immune to it.
" oh no, I'm pretty certain this is my seat. He can sit over there" he pointed to the only other seat available which happened to be between Harry and Ron. At hearing what George said they both tried to look as innocent as possible while waving at her. Seeing them Hermione sent silent stinging hexs at both of them. Both yelped indignantly at her. Before anyone could say anything Molly, Fluer and Draco had finished at the children's table and walked over to join the rest of the family. Upon hearing the yelp Molly looked at the boys, following their eyes back to Hermione and George.
"George, move and let Draco sit next to Hermione." The matriarch scolded the twin.
"But why Mum, there's a perfectly good seat here?" Ron asked trying (and failing) to sound innocent. He yelped again, "really Hermione?"
The witch shook her head, she clearly wasn't the culprit this time. Ron then turned his eyes towards Draco but before he could say something the witch across from him spoke up, "it was me. Now behave." Katie scowled at her boyfriend.
Ron muttered something about 'bloody witches' which had all the mothers at the table telling him off for his language.
Molly turned back to glare at George who finally conceded defeat and stood up, "I was just keeping your seat warm mate." He shrugged as he went to the other end of the table and told Ron to scoot over so he could sit next to his wife. Draco sat and everyone began to dig in. He reached forward to grab the mashed potatoes shifting in his seat. As he did so a very loud, very obnoxious fart sounded. He paused mid spoonful looking totally bewildered. The rest of the family turned towards them. Even the children who had been oblivious to the adult table looked over to see where the noise had come from. Draco turned to Hermione as she groaned. She motioned for him to stand up. As soon as he did so she grabbed the whoopi cushion off his seat. "Really George? A muggle whoopi cushion? Thats the best you could come up with?"
He smirked, "well everyone said behave. You know I can't do that. I have a reputation to maintain." He wiggled his eyebrows as she levitated the toy over the table towards him. She slapped him over the head with it a few times while he begged for mercy and the children laughed at him before allowing it to fall next to his dinner plate. Finally Molly had had enough, "thats it no more magic or jokes, muggle or otherwise at the table!" She glared at the trouble makers at the other end of the table before adding, "I really was hoping just once we could have a normal quiet family dinner." She sighed. Everyone else tried not to look at each other for just a moment before they all burst out laughing. "I know, I know. Its never going to happen." She chuckled herself while Arthur finally spoke up from the head of the table, "welcome to the madness that is the Burrow." He said raising his glass of pumpkin juice in salute to Draco. Everyone continued laughing as they joined him in the toast.
"Be thankful it was just a whoopi cushion," Katie said leaning forward to look at Draco, "I was slipped one of those ridiculous canary cremes my first visit."
"I was spared my first visit but the second I was slipped something that turned my hair Weasley red." The witch seated next to him (whom Draco had learned was Percy's girlfriend Audrey) spoke up.
Draco was surprised at how easily conversation flowed around the table. It was much louder and more animated than he was used to but he found he enjoyed the meal. Towards the end Mrs Weasley turned to Draco again, "Dear, I must say if I knew it would get everyone here at once I would have insisted Hermione bring you sooner. I love having everyone together. It doesn't happen often enough, this would be perfect if only Charlie had been able to make it." She sighed looking at her family.
Hearing her mention Charlie Hermione spoke up, "Charlie floo called to apologize for not coming but told me to expect him at Christmas. "
"Good, last I spoke to him he wasn't sure if he could get away." Raising her voice she continued, "Audrey, Katie, Draco, I hope we can count on you all to join us for Christmas dinner?" Molly said looking at them each in turn. Christmas was still over a month and a half away but the matriarch wanted to make sure she had her entire family together, the easiest way she found was to get the significant others to agree as soon as possible. She looked at them each in turn until all three nodded in agreement. "Excellent. Since we don't know when we will all be together again we might as well draw names." She pulled her wand from her apron, summoned a bowl, parchment and quill from the kitchen. She began writing something on the parchment and the tearing it up. Once the small wooden bowl was filled with the parchment peices she called for everyone's attention. "Now same rules apply as always, however I will explain for our newest members. Instead of trying to get something for everyone each adults name is put into the bowl. We each take turns drawing, if you get yourself or your significant other you must exchange it for another. Who you draw is who you get a gift for. Simple. Its meant to be something well thought out and personal and it is meant to be kept a secret. Now let's start here with the newest members of the family." She turned to Draco and sent the bowl towards him. He kept his face completely blank as he reached inside. He had no clue how this women could trick him into joining them on Christmas day when it wasn't even something he and Hermione had even discussed and made him feel as if he'd just been adopted at the same time. He knew joining the Weasleys for Christmas was a big step. Before it looked as if he was hesitating he looked at the name he drew and nodded.
Molly
After dinner everyone had spread out, the eldest and his family left along with Percy and Audrey so the place seemed a little less crowded. Draco was coming down from the loo when he spotted Potter, Weasel and Twin in a corner of the sitting room. Gritting his teeth he walked up to join them. He needed to talk to Potter and now was as good a time as any. "Potter I've been meaning to follow up with you. Did you ever figure out who was behind that Lethifold?" He asked the speckled git who wouldn't die.
"No" the Aruor's face immediately soured. "The best we can tell we were the targets. It was pretty common knowledge that we met in Hermione's office every Thursday to go to lunch. Its the only place anyone could guarantee we three would all be together. The only reason Ron wasn't there was because he was busy moving. The case it was delivered in was just addressed to the department but it was charmed to open at 12, when we would normally pick her up." He sighed dramatically, "other than that I've got nothing and its pissing me off."
"Nothing more? Not who sent it or why?" Draco was still rather mad that nothing had been discovered. Hermione had told him the same but he wanted to hear it from the one in charge, "Isn't it your job to figure out what the hell happened?" he sneared before he could stop himself. He was frustrated that someone had threatened Hermione and he didn't know why or how to stop her from getting hurt.
"Bang outta line mate." Weasel growled stepping forward. "We are just as pissed about this as you are. If there was something to find Harry would've found it. The fact he hasn't found anything is troubling enough."
Draco knew the annoying red head was right but he wasn't ready to acknowledge it. Thankfully he didn't have to because Hermione came up at that moment. "Are you guys behaving? " she asked as she ran her hand over Draco's shoulders before sliding her hand down to grab his hand.
"Of course Granger, we aren't school children anymore." Draco said turning towards her.
"Whats with the 'Granger' bit? Haven't you been together long enough to be on a first name basis yet?" Potter poked.
"Of course," Hermione grinned at her friend, then winked, "first names are for the bedroom." As all three groaned about 'to much information' while she turned to Draco, "ready to head out?" Draco couldn't agree fast enough.
