Warning: Hinting of Abuse
Flinching from pain, Sparrow got up from the bed, letting the covers fall off her naked form. Looking down on the bed, she looked sadly at the man sleeping soundly, "I'll always be here for you Dabi… I promised," she whispered as she fixed the blankets so he was properly covered. She hated herself for staying, she knew this was wrong, but he needed her.
She tried to hold in her as she flew towards the abandoned building where she was to meet Hawks. There were bruises and bite marks all over her body that thankfully the majority of them could be hidden under her outfit; however, she could not hide the bruises that were on her right eye and near her lips. When she landed she cursed loudly as her legs gave out from under her. Fortunately, the winged hero wasn't there yet so it gave her some time to calm down.
Taking a deep breath in… then out, she sat down and put herself almost in a meditative trance that she always had done to block the pain out. She hated Dabi for doing this to her, hated him. But then there would be those moments he was the way he used to be. Sparrow missed him, hoping that one day he'd snap out of it and come back to her. Convincing herself to take in all his pain and frustrations so that he may somehow be him again. But she felt disgusted by the way she looked and felt. Trapped. She hated feeling trapped.
"-i! Sparrow!" knocked out of her daydreams, her eyes meet with the No. 2 Hero kneeling in front of her, "Are you alright?" His eyes are like gold she couldn't help but think, "what happened?" Concern? Him.. concerned over me… a villain? Sparrow couldn't help but laugh.
"Wow, Winged Hero Hawks, concerned over me… ME a villain," she said through her fits of giggles. Hawks couldn't help but look confused.
"Seriously? Are you alright?" when her laughing died, feeling the dull pain of her bruises.
"I'm fine~ just got into a little scuffle with some other villains," she lied. Standing up, she handed Hawks another choker and picked up one of the parcels, hoping that he didn't notice her sorry excuses for hiding the pain each step brought. Sparrow wanted nothing more but to fly so that she could get her weight off her body.
Hawks again used the time they flew silently to observe Sparrow closely. He could tell that she was hurt by the way she flew, but he also knew there was no way she was going to tell him how it happened. He sped up a bit more so that he was flying beside her, "So Sparrow, why did you join the League of Villains?" he asked, trying to spark a conversation.
"I am not telling you that hero," she stated simply.
"Aw come on, I'm just trying to get to know my boss," he joked, anything to talk about something, "I mean we both have our lives on the line for each other."
"Ask something less personal then," Sparrow said, looking over at Hawks. He flapped his wings and propelled himself so that he was facing her while flying backwards. Crossed his arms in contemplation.
"Favorite flower?" he asked. Sparrow raised an eyebrow towards the question.
"Really? Of all things to ask? Favorite flower?"
"Better than nothing!" she chuckled before giving it a thought. No one has ever asked for her favorite flower before.
"Forget-me-nots."
"Forget-me-nots? That's an odd pick," He said. Not a lot of girls pick that puny flower. They pick big flowers like roses or chrysanthemums .
"Well I happen to love them."
"Why?" He wondered. This was the first real conversation he's had with her and already he could see what Sparrow was like. She didn't have any ill-intent that he usually felt from villains.
"That's a personal question."
A teen Sparrow smiled at a teen old Dabi, they had found a small patch of flowers in the woods just outside of LOV headquarters. The winged girl knelt down and started grabbing some pink and blue flowers and started linking them together. Dabi knelt beside her and stared intently at what she was doing, "What are you doing Sparrow?"
"Making a flower crown," once she made a long enough chain she linked the ends together and showed Dabi her work. He looked at it with a bored expression before she placed it on his head, "There," Dabi's eyes trailed up to the flower crown atop his head before grabbing a bunch of forget-me-nots and let it fall on her hair.
"H-Hey!" He chuckled before messing up her brunette hair so that the flowers get tangled in, "Dabi, that's going to be a pain to take out!" with a hint of a smile, he grabbed one of the flowers in her hair and placed it above her ear.
"Stay with me forever?" Sparrow looked at Dabi in awe. This was the first time she ever saw Dabi so serene before.
"Of course!"
That time seemed so long ago…
"Okay then another question…" Hawks contemplated for a bit, "Favorite color?"
"Mint green."
"Favorite ice cream?"
"Strawberry- are all these questions going to be about my favorite things?"
"Ey, people's favorite things are pretty important!"
"Well okay, Hawks, what's your favorite food?" Hawks gave a cheeky smile.
"KFC," Sparrow started laughing.
"Seriously! KFC? Cannibal," Hawks joined in the laughing.
"I'm a bird of prey after all," Sparrow looked down, seeing that they had made it to their destination and dove down with Hawks again following behind her. She had a shaky landing from the pain but she landed. Placed the bags in the middle of the room and let the choker fall off her neck, "Sparrow, you seem different from the rest of the villains."
"Oh really different how?" her voice changed. It was less friendly, Hawks knew he should pick his words carefully.
"Yeah, I can see you more as a hero than a villain," Her eyes changed and stared intently into Hawks almost like a predator that had cornered her prey.
"Cause I'm being friendly? That's cause you haven't given me a reason to kill you yet," She started walking towards him until she was right in front of him, "But I won't hesitate if you do give me one."
And there it was… the ill-intent he felt when he confronted villains. But just as it appeared it disappeared in a flash as she walked towards the door.
