We start off with Dwayne Junior narrating.
The school system, the way it is set up, is useful for helping young kids achieve their goals. And, a school sporting event, can bring out the best and worst of the students that are playing. This is the competitive Junior year.
The tugs theme then plays
Junior's POV
If it wasn't for the fact that she was awarded the medal of honor by the Canadian military, Bertha would probably be the most hated student at Bronzestone. When we were back in school on Monday, Hudson was the only student that was giving her crap. With how depressed she was, Bertha didn't make any snide remarks, she didn't even make an angry face. Once the final bell rang that day, Bertha went to the hospital to visit Uncle Harold.
Reader's POV
The lady at the front desk, instantly recognized Bertha, remembering how she temporarily lived at the hospital while awaiting a new heart. "Hello, i'm here to see Mr Harold McGrady" said Bertha. "Well you're gonna have to wait, his mother and two siblings are already seeing him, and family takes priority" said the lady at the desk. At that exact moment, Harold's family walked into the lobby. His mother named Katherine, his older brother by 10 years named Henry, and his older sister by 13 years named Helen. "Listen, we don't blame you for his condition" said Katherine. "Well you should blame me, you have no reason to think of me as a decent human being" said Bertha. "You didn't mean to hurt him" said Henry. "Yeah, it was an accident" said Helen. "An accident, just like my birth" said Bertha.
When she walked into Harold's room, it was not a very pretty sight. Harold was red in the face, with a respirator overtop of it. "Hi Harold, how are you feeling?" asked Bertha. "Aside from the fact that my chest hurts a lot, and the fact that I can barely breathe, I'm doing perfect" said Harold. Bertha was confused when she saw that her vision was becoming blurry, then she realized it was because the lenses on her glasses had tears on them. "Listen Harold, i'm sorry I did this to you" she sobbed. "I never wanted to hurt anybody, especially you." "It's okay Bertha, I know it wasn't on purpose" said Harold. "No, it's not okay, you've already been through hell as it is" said Bertha. "Up until this point, this was the longest stretch of your life without needing a 911 call." "It seemed as though your life was finally turning around, and then I fucked everything up." "How can you even consider me a friend after all that i've done to you?"
Junior's POV
The next time me and the bfffl's met up with her in the basement to work on the plane, Bertha revealed everything. It turns out, Bertha and Uncle Harold had been best friends ever since she was four. They first met when she saw Uncle Harold being loaded into an ambulance, after he got run over by his future principal. Ever since then, Bertha's attendance record in school started to go down. The reason for this, was because from that moment on, Bertha visited Uncle Harold in the hospital, every single time he had a serious health problem. Then Total drama started, and watching Uncle Harold compete, was complete hell for Bertha. She was incredibly infuriated about the way he was treated by the other contestants, and by the fans who were watching the show. She was depressed after watching all three of his eliminations. Unbeknownst to anyone else, Uncle Harold actually gave Bertha a signed contract shortly after World tour, confirming that she was his number one fan. Having been friends with Uncle Harold for so long, she was emotionally destroyed when she accidentally hurt him. Being 100% positive that Uncle Harold wasn't surviving this, she decided to indefinitely suspend our wedding until she could pull herself together. Something would come up, that make her change her mind. But that is a story for another day.
Authors note: To call Harold the Meg Griffin of the Total drama franchise, would be a complete insult. There are tons of people that actually defend Meg, and acknowledge how she is the punching bag of Family guy. It's difficult to find someone that notices how blatantly obvious it is, that Harold is being tortured, for no fucking reason.
Bertha's situation is something a lot of people can relate to. Weddings are sometimes postponed, due to someone getting hurt. It just doesn't seem right to get married, right after a close friend just got injured.
When it comes to visiting hours at hospitals, family members usually take priority over close friends. It usually depends on how close the patient and the visitor are to each other.
Thank you for reading and please have a great day.
