Sana quietly snuck out of The Council's camp for the night; even goddesses had to sleep.
But Sana couldn't sleep, too many thoughts were swirling in her head.
She couldn't help but wonder if Baelz was really leading them down the right path.
Sana shook her head lightly, continuing her walk along one of the city streets until she reached a small park.
Her footsteps stopped as she stepped into the open area, kneeling down in one of the grass patches.
Sana sighed deeply, resting her hands in front of her on top of her lap.
Her gaze drifted up towards the stars shining brightly above, taking in their twinkling beauty as she ran through the day's events in her mind.
"Nh... Gura?" Amelia mumbled sleepily, the group was still at the holoX hideout waiting for Koyori to finish working on their weapons.
Gura was standing just in front of the couch Amelia had fallen asleep on after her injuries were treated.
"I'm fine, just goin' for a walk." Gura explained softly.
"Do you need me to come with you?" Amelia asked, sitting up slowly, her eyelids fluttering as she yawned widely.
Gura shook her head, "You need rest, go back to sleep." she ordered gently.
Amelia complied, laying back down, and falling back to sleep shortly after the shark girl carefully exited the hideout.
Gura gave a long sigh as the cool night air nipped at her face, what a day.
And it was far from over, they still had to actually defeat a group of Gods before they destroyed the world.
The Atlantean shook her head, "I went from an idol to a warrior in one afternoon." she thought.
Gura began walking with no destination in mind, she just needed some time to herself to let her thoughts work themselves out.
she rounded a corner and caught sight of a park a couple blocks away.
"I'll go there for a little bit..." she thought, walking towards the park slowly.
It was almost eerie how quiet the city was, thanks to The Council's actions earlier in the day, most people were holed up somewhere trying to escape any potential danger.
Gura didn't mind it though, if anything it made it easier for her mind to wander.
Gura reached the park and walked through the empty pathways, observing the many trees and flowers that dotted the landscape.
Gura sighed, taking a deep breath of fresh air, feeling a bit more at ease than she did earlier.
As she walked along, however, something caught her eye.
In fact, it seemed to be someONE.
There, in a big patch of grass sat the figure of a young woman staring up into space.
It wasn't until Gura got closer that she realized who it was.
"You..."
Sana jumped as the sudden voice broke the silence of the night. She turned to face Gura who stood a few feet away, fists clenched and a fierce expression on her face.
"Ah... you..." Sana looked at the shark girl with slight surprise, "I didn't think I would run into any of you ever again."
Gura scoffed and folded her arms, "I'm not surprised; your friend practically broke me and Amelia in half!"
"I really am sorry about that." Sana said sincerely.
"Save it!" Gura snapped angrily, her blue eyes seeming to flicker red for a moment, "What are you doing here anyway?"
"Truthfully, I'm stargazing." Sana answered calmly. "Not that you care, but it's what I do to take my mind off things."
"Yeah, I bet." Gura replied, "You're lucky I don't have my trident."
"Why, so we could destroy this peaceful little place?" Sana questioned.
"I have no intention of fighting you." she added.
Gura blinked, disarmed by Sana's statement, "But... why? You're one of the Gods planning to destroy the world... right?"
Sana smiled sadly, "Yes, but only because Bae- er, Baelz, is the one in charge." she answered.
"If it were up to me, today wouldn't have turned out the way it did."
Gura looked at The Speaker of Space with utter confusion, "What do you mean?"
Sana sighed, looking back up to the stars.
"Centuries ago, we made a promise that when we returned to the mortal realm, we would change it for the better." She started, her voice soft and even, "And yet, it seems that somewhere along the line, my opinion of what would be 'a change for the better' began to differ from Baelz's."
Gura moved closer to Sana, listening intently.
"In my opinion, the world could very easily be changed with a peaceful solution, but Bae insists the only way to change the world is with destruction; forcibly eliminating the deadly sins that plague humanity's world." She explained.
"It's true, humans are greedy, cruel, power hungry creatures, but they are also capable of so much good..." Sana continued, smiling faintly.
"Perhaps, Bae is right..." Sana admitted, "Perhaps the best thing we can do to save the mortal realm is eliminate the human race."
She paused, her smile fading.
"But I want to help them save themselves..." she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Gura remained silent for a moment, sitting down cross-legged next to Sana.
"...You don't seem like the type to kill innocent people just cause." she said finally.
Sana chuckled softly to herself, shaking her head slightly.
"No." Sana admitted, "I don't plan on killing anyone in fact." she clarified.
"I just hope I don't have to." she stated, "To be honest, I never imagined we would be responsible for causing so much damage to a city."
Both girls remained silent for a moment, just staring at the sky.
"Gura."
"Hm?"
"It's Gura, my name." the shark girl said after a minute.
"Right," Sana smiled, "Gura."
"I'm Sana." she introduced herself.
Gura nodded silently in reply, "...What's that thing on your head for?" she asked suddenly.
"Eh? Oh, that's my size limiter." Sana explained simply with a smile.
"Size limiter?" Gura repeated, furrowing her brows. "What does that even mean?"
"Well...okay, so I'm, like, the goddess of space right?" Sana asked, Gura nodded.
"So... with how vast space is, my physical form ended up being, like... massive." Sana explained, "So I needed this to exist on Earth without destroying the planet." she finished, gesturing to the pink curlicue shaped device on top of her head.
"So... wait, how massive exactly? Gura questioned curiously.
"Mmh, let's just say that without the limiter, certain parts of me are the size of Jupiter." Sana answered with a chuckle before looking back to the stars.
Gura's jaw hung open slightly, unable to comprehend such an image.
"Huh..."
It took Gura a little while to find her words again, but she eventually spoke:
"Well... I think the whole not wanting to destroy humanity thing is pretty noble but..."
Gura stopped, frowning slightly as she stared at Sana's profile, "Are you going to follow through on that?"
"Huh?" Sana turned to look Gura in the eyes.
"If you want peace... then are you going to stop the ones who don't?"
Sana stared at her in silence for a moment, then she glanced upwards once more, a small, bittersweet grin spreading across her lips,
"Would you turn against those you consider family, even if they held different ideals than you?" she replied.
Gura didn't reply, the two girls simply shared a short, understanding glance with each other.
Then Gura rose to her feet before speaking once more, her voice calm yet firm, "Do what you think is right, Sana. I don't fight those I consider friends."
With these words and one final glance, Gura walked away, heading back to the holoX hideout.
Sana stared after her, watching as she left the park and disappeared from sight.
"I won't forget this night, Gura..."
