Chapter 24: The Sonar Submarine
Hong Kong
I sat along side Fox in the helicopter as we traveled from Gotham City to Hong Kong and landed on Lau's top building LSI.
"Welcome to Hong Kong, Mr. Fox, Ms. Blake," one of the LSI employee's came by to greet them and help them out of the helicopter.
I followed along side as the employee helped me onto my two high-heeled shoes of which I decided would be a good idea. It was not because I almost fell over if it hadn't been for the employee's shoulder to lean on.
"Guess I should've worn flats," I murmured. The employee gave me a look and I smiled almost embarrassingly. I let go of him and cleared my throat.
"Mr. Lau regrets he is unable to greet you in person today," he continued.
Fox nodded. "I understand," he said, and we followed him towards the inside of the building.

It was fun playing Bruce Wayne's girlfriend again. I loved being able to site-see a little bit of Hong Kong even if it were just for the day, and one hotel room we had agreed to stay in, while he played Batman. I got room service, and one of the best views in the house. The press was certainly having a field day with me back behind their lens cameras as Bruce Wayne's old beau coming back, since I'd called off the engagement. But now, I told them the engagement was back on, and that marriage was definitely back on the table again.
He even mentioned to me he was having a fundraiser for Harvey Dent after this, and that he wanted me by his side. I wasn't opposed to that either. Another party? Maybe I'd actually meet someone there, of course the ring would be an indication I was taken, but that's okay. It was a fake engagement. It wasn't like it was real.
There was a knock at the door and I got up off the bed to open it. "Hello Lucius."
"Hello my dear. Mr. Lau's ready to meet with us today," he said.
"Great," I said folding up the manila folder that contained everything about Mr. Lau and his consultants and calculations. "Here, this is for you."
"Thank you," he said and I grabbed my brief case and we headed out the door.

LSI Holdings
Fox and I quickly walked briskly across the tiled floor of LSI building, heading to the security desk.
"For security purposes, I'm going to have to ask you to check in your mobile," he said.
"Of course," Fox said, pulling out his cell. I pulled out mine and handed them both to the employee. He put them inside a glass drawer as we headed up to meet with Mr. Lau.
Finally, we were heading up to the roof where lunch was served and ready for us to eat with him.
Mr. Lau joined us not a moment later, and that was when we began discussing the negotiations of the deal we no longer wanted.
"I must apologize for leaving Gotham in the middle of our negotiations. This misunderstanding with the Gotham police force... I couldn't let it threaten my company," Lau began as the employee's took our plates away and then tea was served, which I really liked.
It was really delicious.
"Of course," Fox said.
"A businessman of your stature will understand and, with you here now, we can continue," Lau said.
I smiled gingerly at him, taking another sip of my tea. Lau looked at me and I gripped my pen tight as if I was ready to record the meeting, since we weren't allowed to have our mobile's with us inside the building, I was the next best thing.
"Oh, don't mind me, pretend like I'm just an ornament. I'm not even here," I said with a smile as Lau studied me for a bit, taking in my presence.
"I know it seems extra to have my assistant here with us, Mr. Lau, but she is here. Let us continue."
"Of course, Mr. Fox," Lau nodded and settled in his chair to focus on the meeting at hand and not at me.
"Anyway, I do appreciate you bringing me out here in such style, Mr. Lau, but I re..." he trailed off and stopped talking when his cell phone rang inside his pocket.
"We do not allow cell phones in here," Lau said, caught off guard.
Gee, I wonder why.
"Sorry, forgot I had it," he turned it off and put it back into his pocket.
"No, I really came to tell you that our business deal has to be put on hold. You see, we can't afford to be seen to do business with... whatever it is you're accused of being," he said, and Lau stood up. "I'm sure a businessman of your stature will understand."
"I think, Mr. Fox, a simple phone call might've sufficed," Lau said.
"Mr. Wayne didn't want you to think he was deliberately wasting your time," Fox explained.
"Just accidentally wasting it," Lau said, seizing the moment.
Fox chuckled, and I smiled, putting my pad away into my brief case. "That's very good, Mr. Lau. Accidentally. Very good."
We got up ourselves and excused the meeting. Lau let us out, and we headed down the stairs to the lobby area when one of the employees stopped us. I took my cell phone back, but Fox didn't take his.
Fox pulled out his from his pocket, showing him the cell he had. The poor employee just shoved it back into the drawer, leaving us be.

"There's a better view from the peak tram," Fox said, as he saddled up next to Bruce as he was taking pictures and pretending like he was a tourist.
"There's my beautiful fiancé," he chimed in, taking me into his arms, and pulling him close, taking a photo of us, making me chuckle. "This will go nicely on the front page of Gotham Daily, wouldn't it?"
"Oh, it so would," I said, hoping that'd be true. I looked more like a businesswoman than a girlfriend of a billionaire.
"How's the view from LSI holdings?" he asked.
"Restricted," Fox replied. "Lau is holed up in there good and tight."
"Yeah, he was even nervous that I was with Lucius," I said. "I was just the assistant. I'm sure he's got assistants of his own."
"Yeah," Bruce agreed.
Fox handed him his cell. He took it. I turned around and leaned against the railing, smiling and watching the people walk by, enjoying the spot we were in.
"What's this?" Bruce asked.
"I had R&D work it up," Fox replied as it showed images of LSI holdings on the inside of the building.
"Sends out a high-frequency pulse, records the response time for mapping out an environment," Fox continued to explain.
"Sonar, just like a…" Bruce guessed.
"Submarine, Mr. Wayne, just like a submarine," Fox said proudly.
"Any other device?" Bruce asked.
"It's in place," Fox said.
"Mr. Wayne?"
"Good luck," he said. "Are you ready to go?"
"I'm ready," I said.
"Wait," Bruce said and pulled me in for a romantic kiss, just in case anyone was trying to find us on our getaway celebration for being engaged again.
