Thank you for all your reviews, I'm glad you enjoyed the first chapter. As I mentioned before, this does not follow season 8 as we know it. In this version the Sorrento shooting never happens. Please keep in mind this is a Jamko story.

July

Kara showed up at Eddie's place shortly after 6. She had to get dinner ready for her husband, Dylan and son, Jake.

"What's going on ? Why didn't you want to go to Sullivan's tonight?" Kara asked with concern.

"I need to talk and I don't need people overhearing and judging."Eddie started. "I ordered pizza already"

"Oh, so this is a Jamie/Barry thing ? I don't understand why you are leading Barry on, you know you want to be with Jamie."

"I'm technically not dating Barry." Eddie reminded her.

"Yeah, but telling him you needed space after you got shot and still meeting up with him every once in a while is not breaking up with him either." Kara responded back.

"I know, I know, this thing has been stressing me out so much. I had no idea it would take so long to get the job in Philly."

"So when does he leave." Kara asked.

"The 30th."

"Good, this whole thing will finally be settled."

"I don't know about that. . ." Eddie hesitated.

"Why would you say that?" Kara wondered. Eddie placed a ziploc bag in front of her.

"Oh my God ! I'm so excit. . . oh no. . ." Kara noticed the tears running down Eddie's cheeks and hugged her. Kara walked her over to the sofa and held her while she cried.

"I'm . . . sup. . .posed. . . to. . . be. . . hap. . .py." Eddie cried through her tears.

"How long have you known?"

"Today." She sobbed. "I don't. . .know what. . . to do. I can't believe this is happening."

"First thing we need to do is get you to a doctor and find out how far along you are. That should tell you who the father is."

"What if it's not Jamie's? What do I do? I don't want it to be Barry's." Eddie cried into Kara's shoulder. "Have appointment next week."

"How about we go to the clinic tomorrow morning." Kara suggested. "That way next week you can bring the father if you want.

Two hours later there was a knock at the door. Kara was watching a movie after Eddie had cried herself asleep.

"Eddie, it's me." Jamie called out. Kara opened the door quickly so Eddie wouldn't wake up.

"Is she OK?" Jamie asked, concerned. "I've been trying to call but she's not picking up.

"No, she's upset right now and cried herself to sleep."

"What's wrong?"

"Just be there for her, she'll tell you when she's ready." Kara told him. "Will you remind her I'll be here at 8 am"

Jamie sat down on the couch where Kara was and looked at Eddie sleeping on the couch. He could tell she had been crying, her eyes were slightly puffy.

Jamie relaxed on the couch and ended up falling asleep as well. He woke up to some crazy loud movie on TV. He got up to grab the remote off the coffee table when he caught a glimpse of something next to the remote. He picked it up and looked at it and realized what it was - a pregnancy test. Not just any test, but what he guessed was a positive one. All of the sudden all these thoughts and images flooded his brain of him and Eddie having a child together. He couldn't figure out why she would be upset, they had talked about what they wanted in their futures and both of them mentioned kids. Then, it dawned on him why she was upset - the baby must not be his. The smile he had disappeared quickly. It was only then when he realized Eddie was staring at him with tears in her eyes.

"Eddie, don't cry." Jamie tried to comfort her but Eddie just cried harder and reached out to hug Jamie. Jamie wrapped his arms around her and leaned back on the sofa with her tucked into his side..

"I want you to know that I haven't been with him since we got together." Eddie sobbed. Jamie nodded.

"I know we really haven't talked about this, but when was the last time you were?"

"Umm, I'm pretty sure it was the weekend before I got shot." Eddie tried to recall. "We were together the first time 10 days after I was shot. So that was 6 weeks ago."

"Actually it was closer to 7 weeks." Jamie corrected her.

"Jamie, I'm scared that it's not going to be yours"

"I am too but there is nothing we can do about that now."

"Have you been to the doctor?

"No, not yet but Kara is taking me to the clinic tomorrow."

"Whatever the outcome is, I'll be here for you - no matter what." Jamie assured her. "Now let's get you to bed since Kara will be here at 8."

How did you know that? Eddie asked.

"She wanted me to remind you." Jamie told her.

"Oh." Eddie laughed. "Will you stay tonight? I need you to hold me."

"Whatever you need." Jamie nodded. "I love you."

"I love you too." Eddie repeated leaning up to kiss his cheek.

As promised, Kara picked Eddie up promptly at 8, they wanted to get to the clinic by the time it opened at 8:30.

"I'm really nervous." Eddie admitted in the waiting room.

"I can't imagine how you're feeling right now.", Kara told her.

"I know I have to but I don't want to find out how far along I am. She whispered.

"Think about the timeline in the last 2 months, whose do you think it could be ?

"Personally, I'm thinking the only one it could be is Jamie's, but there is still a chance." Eddie admitted. "I have this great idea of getting Jamie a card that says "I love you" and write 'Daddy' on the inside with the ultrasound picture."

"That's so sweet." Kara grinned. "Jamie will be so excited."

"Edit Janko" a nurse called out. Kara followed Eddie back while she talked to the nurse. After sending Eddie for a urine test she led them to a room to wait for the doctor. A short time later a female doctor came in and confirmed her pregnancy. Eddie wiped away the tears in her eyes. She was so conflicted not knowing how she should feel yet.

"Let's take a look at this little one and get an estimated due date.", the doctor said excitedly. She got the machine ready and squirted the gel on Eddie's stomach. "Based on size, you are 9 weeks." Eddie immediately started tearing up again.

"9 weeks ? Are you sure? Could it be more like 7 weeks ?" Eddie asked sobbing ?

"No, the measurements are too big for a 7 week old fetus." the doctor explained. Eddie did her best to hold back how badly she just wanted to scream..

The second Eddie closed the door on Kara's car she just started crying and the tears just rolled down her face. Kara got in the car and immediately wrapped her arms around Eddie.

"How. . am . . I . .going. . to. . tell. . Jamie ? Eddie cried into Kara's shoulder. I. . don't. . think. . I. . can. . face. . him.

"Is he still going to be at your apartment?"

"I don't know, but knowing him he probably went running to clear his head."

"Not boxing?" Kara questioned. "I thought he went there a lot?"

"He does but he will go running to clear his head and boxing when he's mad or upset." Eddie told her, still crying.

"Dylan took Jake to a friend's house today, they're going to the beach. Let's get you home and maybe some ice cream. How does that sound ? Eddie nodded, wiping her tears.

When they got back to Eddie's, all she wanted to do was curl up in bed, this was definitely not the day she was hoping for. When she opened the door she found Jamie fixing a protein shake, he had obviously just come back from a run. Eddie took one look at him and ran to her room crying. Jamie just looked at Kara.

"I guess it didn't go how she wanted." Jamie asked.

"Why don't you go in and talk to her. I'll go out to my car to give you privacy. If she wants me to stay, let me know. If not send me a text. "

"OK." Jamie replied back.

Jamie went back and knocked on her door. "Eddie, may I come in?"

"I don't think you'll want to." She sobbed.

"I want to, I'm worried about you." Jamie called back. When he didn't get a response and the crying got louder he went in to check on her. She was under the covers curled up in the fetal position with her back to him. She was crying so hard she was almost hiccuping. He took his shoes off and crawled under the covers and wrapped his arms around her.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Eddie shook her head 'no'.

"Kara went to sit in her car, if you want me to stay, I will. If not, I'll leave and Kara will stay with you." Jamie told her. She was still sobbing and wasn't ready to make a decision so Jamie continued to hold her. In just a few minutes her breathing evened out and he realized she was asleep. He needed to text Kara but couldn't reach his phone. Eddie's phone was in reach on the bed. He scrolled to Kara's name and sent out a text typing with just one hand.

J -"Hey it's J - fell asleep on my arm, couldn't reach my phone. Go home. If she needs you, we'll text you."

K - "OK, you got it. Take care of our girl, she's in bad shape right now and needs it."

J-"Always"

Jamie pulled Eddie in tighter to him and fell asleep with her.

It was almost dinner time by the time Eddie woke up. Jamie had woken up a few hours earlier and ordered some Chinese food. He knew that she would be hungry when she got up. When she finally got her barings and realized that it was not a dream, she started crying again.

"Jamie" she called out. When he heard her, he went right to her room.

"Hey, hey, it's OK." He wrapped his arms around her to comfort her. "We'll get through this."

"It's not OK. I don't know what I'm going to do." Eddie cried.

"You need to talk to him." Jamie told her.

"I haven't decided if I'm going to yet."

"Eddie," he said softly. "He needs to know."

"But why ?" I don't know if I want him involved." Eddie sobbed. "I want you . . . that is if you meant what you said about being here for me."

"I love you and I'm here for you, no matter what you choose." Jamie started. "But honestly, I would be really upset and angry if someone I was with didn't tell me they were having my child."

"I didn't think about how he would feel." Eddie admitted.

"You're struggling with this emotionally already, it's only been a day and you are already overwhelmed." Jamie said, still holding her. "If you keep this up, it's going to effect both you and the baby." Eddie shook her head in understanding.

"I ordered your favorite Chinese, let me warm it up and we can eat in bed and watch a movie. How's that sound?"

"Actually really good."

The next week Eddie went to her Dr. hoping the clinic had made a mistake but unfortunately got the same results, she was 10 weeks now. She had another emotional breakdown but this time Kara came over to comfort her.

"When are you going to talk to Barry?" Kara asked.

"I texted him today and he's in Philly signing the lease on his new apartment. We're going to meet for pizza at his place Monday night. I agreed to help him pack."

"Why in the world did you agree to that ?" Kara laughed.

"Well, it was either that or he wanted to meet me for lunch while I'm on duty. I just couldn't do that. I can't be that emotional at work."

"Yeah, good point."

The weekend was uneventful, Eddie didn't normally work on Saturdays but the officer she switched with had a Saturday tour. She ended up working with Kara since both their partners banged out sick. It made working a weekend so much better.

Eddie was extremely nervous to talk to Barry on Monday. She made a decision to tell him that she and Jamie had started a relationship but wasn't going to tell him the whole story. She always suspected that he was jealous of her and Jamie's relationship but he would never admit it. He just got quiet when she talked about Jamie.

She arrived at Barry's apartment about 6 after her tour ended. She stood outside the door for a few minutes playing with her hands, her palms were sweaty. She thought about leaving and telling him she couldn't make it but then remembered what Jamie had said, he did have a right to know, so she took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

"Hey, it's really great to see you." Barry said after opening the door. He invited her in and gave her a big hug. "You got here at the perfect time, pizza got here 5 minutes ago."

"Great, I'm starving, it was a crazy day today. We only got about 10 minutes to eat today. It was non-stop." Eddie told him.

"How is Jamie doing?" He asked flatly.

"He's good." was all Eddie offered. She wasn't ready to tell him just yet that they were dating and no longer partners.

"So are you excited about the new job ?" Eddie asked, grabbing a slice of pizza.

"I am ! I didn't think I could have this level of a position at my age. I figured it would be something I wouldn't get for about 10 years." Barry started. "I'm going to have a huge office and a $50,000 raise."

"Wow, that's amazing. I'm happy for you." Eddie smiled

"You should see my new place. I'll be living in a 3 bedroom condo in Olde City, the building is owned by the company and they give their employees a 50% discount on rent. It's on the 22nd floor, it's bright and has lots of windows and is very modern and sleek."

"You'll definitely be living the good life." Eddie told him. "So what do you need help packing? I have about 2 hours to help, I've got early tours this week."

After about a half hour of packing up the kitchen, Barry noticed she was quieter than normal.

"So what's going on? You said you had something to talk about and you're really quiet."

"Yeah there's a couple things I need to tell you." Eddie started nervously.

"OK"

"Well, the first thing is that Jamie and I are dating now."

"Oh, so how long has that been going on?" Barry asked harshly

"About a month."

"So it's not the reason you wanted to take a break." he questioned, still packing .

"No." Eddie lied. "I was dealing with the shooting and I needed to do that on my own. He really didn't need to know the truth.

"The other thing is that I'm pregnant. . ." Eddie continued to wrap the dishes she was working on without looking at him.

"What?" Barry snapped. "So you want a break with me, start dating your partner, and now tell me you're pregnant with his kid. Why are you telling me all this ?

"Because it's not Jamie's. . . I'm 10 weeks pregnant, it had to have happened one of the last times we were together." Barry was stunned.

"It's mine?" He asked, shocked.

"Yeah"

"Wow, how is Jamie dealing with that?" Barry asked sarcastically.

"He's been really supportive considering it isn't his."

"Oh." Barry thought. "So, how is this going to work with me in Philly?"

"It's too early to worry about that." Eddie responded. "Here is a copy of the ultrasound picture, I'm due in mid-February. They continued to talk about work and the pregnancy before Eddie had to leave. It was nice to talk to him, she always enjoyed their conversations

"I'll call you later in the week and let you know when I'm leaving. Maybe we can meet up again." Eddie nodded in agreement before giving him a quick hug and walking out the door.

Eddie got home that night emotionally drained. It was hard seeing Barry again and having to tell him she was pregnant. He really was a nice guy. Knowing him the last 8 months, she figured he would be a good father, she just worried about his attitude toward Jamie. It was obvious he was jealous of him. When she walked in the door she found Jamie sleeping on her couch. It definitely made her smile.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Eddie asked.

"I figured you would need some emotional support." He said getting up to give her a hug.

"You always know just what I need." Eddie smiled, wrapping her arms around his waist.

"How'd it go?"

"Better than I expected, actually." Eddie acknowledged, "He took the news well, and already wants to know how things are going to work with him out of state."

"How are you feeling about that?"

"I'm good actually. It's been an emotional night so I just want to curl up in bed and go to sleep."

"Well, let's get you to bed then."

The next day Barry called Eddie asking to meet him to talk again. She agreed to meet him the next day at a small park by the precinct.

Barry was sitting on a bench waiting for Eddie when she arrived after her shift ended.

"You're out of work early." Eddie noted.

"My last day was yesterday, I'm finishing up packing and taking care of some things in the city before I leave." he told her.

"So am I one of those things?" Eddie questioned.

"Well, yeah. I think we have more to talk about before I leave."

"Like what? I'm only like 10 1/2 weeks, we have a long way to go before we have to make decisions." Eddie reminded him.

"I know but I just wanted to discuss a few things before I leave. While we still have a chance to talk face to face."

"OK, so what's on your mind?"

"I was in shock when you told me about the pregnancy the other night."

"Believe me I get that." Eddie interjected.

"I didn't get much sleep the other night. I was doing a lot of thinking. I want to be a part of the baby's life." Barry started. "I know you are seeing Jamie right now but it's not his child. How do you think he's going to feel about raising another man's child? Honestly I wouldn't want to."

"I hear what you're saying and you can be as involved as you want to be. All children need strong fathers. This baby will have two."

"I'm the baby's father, I want to be the one he calls 'Dad', not Jamie."

"You do realize we don't know if the baby's going to be a boy." Eddie teased trying to avoid his last comment. Barry laughed.

"I know but it's easier to say than 'the baby."

"Yeah I know." They laughed. They always had the ability to make each other laugh.

"You are going to find out what we're having, right?" Barry emphasized.

"I've always thought that I would wait. There aren't many surprises in life and having a baby is an exciting one."

"I want to know, but we have some time for that. I know I can convince you." Barry smiled. "Look, I know I'm kind of throwing this out there on REALLY short notice but, come with me. I always thought we were good together. Let's try and make this work, we can be a family. My new place has 3 bedrooms, plenty of room for you and a nursery."

"Barry, but . . ."

"Stop, don't answer now. Think about it for a few days. I'm leaving on Monday. I start my new job on the 1st so I want to be settled by then." Eddie just nodded. "I need to go, I'm meeting some friends for dinner and then have more packing to do. Barry pulled Eddie into a hug. "Thank you for listening." He smiled and kissed her on the cheek.

Eddie dropped her head in her hands and cried, she couldn't believe what he just asked. She really hated her life right now. She wished she wasn't pregnant. She couldn't decide if she regretted the relationship with Barry or with Jamie.

Eddie made it home a couple hours later, she drove around after spending a while walking around the park. She finally turned on her phone to find 3 voice mail messages from Jamie, 2 from Kara and another 15 text messages from the two of them. She figured she should let them know she was OK before heading to bed. She called Kara and cried for a half hour telling her about the conversation with Barry. Before getting off the phone they made plans to meet up for dinner tomorrow and talk. Eddie was so exhausted she crashed right there on the couch with the phone in her hand. The next thing she knew she was waking up to banging on the door.

"Eddie are you there? Open up !" Jamie repeated.

Eddie walked over and opened the door and then walked back to the couch.

"I hadn't heard from you in hours, I was really worried." Jamie said, sitting down next to her.

"I'm sorry, I'm having an emotional day."

"Do you want to talk about it ?" Eddie shrugged her shoulders and nodded.

"I guess."

Jamie pulled Eddie into his side.

"I was talking to Barry again today."

"What? Why?

"He wanted to talk more about how this was going to work with him in Philly and me here." Eddie told him. "He also says he wants to be part of the baby's life."

"Why did you go see him ?" Jamie questioned.

"Well, he is the baby's father and I need to work things out with him."

"You should have at least waited for me, I could have gone with you."

"Seriously, Jamie?" Eddie said, agitated. "I'm supposed to take you to talk to him about HIS baby that I'm pregnant with ?"

"I told you I would be here for you."

"I know that, but he and I are the parents, I need to be able to talk to him myself. You can't fight all my battles, Jamie." Eddie was starting to get upset again.

"I'm sorry, I was just trying to help." Jamie conceded.

"I'm tired, I want to go to bed, I'll talk to you tomorrow." Eddie said flatly, getting up ready to walk Jamie to the door.

"I know you're upset, I can stay."

"The hormones are making it worse, I just need to get used to it."

"Ok, I will talk to you tomorrow then." Jamie told her. "I love you."

"I love you, too." Eddie closed the door behind him and leaned on the door. "What am I going to do?" She wondered.

The next few days Eddie barely saw Jamie, they were on different shifts and she was so emotionally exhausted dealing with Jamie and Barry combined with the pregnancy that she came home and crashed every night. By Friday night Kara was worried about her because they usually talk every day. She agreed to dinner, Kara was bringing food over.

"Eddie, open up, my hands are full." Kara called from the hall.

"What in the world did you bring ?" Eddie asked confused at the multiple bags Kara was carrying.

"It's usually about this time when. . ." Eddie had started to open the bags to see what her friend brought when she caught a whiff of something and went running to the bathroom. ". . . you start having reactions to food." Kara chuckled.

"Are you Ok," Kara asked as Eddie returned.

"I think so, I have no idea where that came from."

"Oh, that's one of the fun things that comes with pregnancy."

"Seriously ?" Eddie said, deflated. "Does that mean I might not be able to eat things I like ?

"It's possible, and you'll probably get cravings for other things."

"Ok, let's take this slow and try one thing at a time." Kara suggested. "The bag you opened had french fries in it."

"Really?" Eddie questioned. "Let me try again." Kara started to bring the bag closer when Eddie yelled, "Stop ! This pregnancy is going to be miserable."

Kara went through everything she brought and the only thing that didn't cause a reaction was the Caesar Salad.

"I'm so glad Jamie isn't here." Eddie admitted. "He would have a field day with me eating a salad. Kara laughed knowing she was right.

"If you didn't already know how far along you were, I would swear. . ."Kara stopped realizing what she was going to say would hurt her friend.

"What?"

"Nevermind."

"Kara. . . just say what you were going to say."

Kara breathed out and just said it, "I was going to say, If you didn't already know how far along you were, I would swear you were pregnant with Jamie's kid."

Eddie looked at her friend with tears in her eyes, "I was thinking the same thing. Damn, this whole thing sucks. "I wish this baby was Jamie's, then I wouldn't be so torn as to what to do."

"Talk to me, maybe I can help you with it." Kara said to her.

The next week was another emotionally draining one for her, Barry had called her twice and they had met in person once. He was not making this easy for her. She was talking to Jamie at work and on the phone at night but they weren't seeing each other outside of work because she was so exhausted. Kara came over a couple of times after work so they could talk. She knew Eddie was having a really tough time and wanted her to have someone to talk to. By the time Saturday came around Eddie was really missing Jamie.

"Hey, stranger." Jamie smiled picking up the phone on the first ring.

"Hey." Eddie replied back, cheerfully. "Any plans for tonight ?"

"I wanted to call you but I was afraid you'd turn me down again."

"I'm sorry, it's just been a rough week. I totally wasn't prepared for the exhaustion and emotions that come with pregnancy. Kara's been helping though."

"Good, so what did you have in mind ?

"How about a quiet night in, maybe a movie?" Eddie asked.

"Sure, I'm up for that. I can be over in an hour." Jamie told her.

"No, I'll come over there, I really need a change of scenery." Jamie laughed.

"Sure, no problem, I'll order dinner. Do you want your usual ?"

"Umm no, apparently I can't eat that right now." Eddie told him.

"OK, what should I get ?

"Pizza and a Caesar Salad."

"A Caesar Salad ? You ?"

"Believe me, I know."

"See you soon, I love you." Jamie said cautiously, not knowing if she felt that way anymore.

"I love you, too."

Eddie arrived a half hour later wearing a cute yellow sundress.

"Wow, you look beautiful !" Jamie pulled her in for a hug and a long kiss.

"Thanks, it was between this and shorts and an oversized t-shirt." Jamie looked at her confused.

"I've got a little bump already and I can't wear my jeans anymore."

"Oh yeah? Can I feel ?" Jamie asked. Eddie took his hand and placed it on her lower abdomen.

"It's not much but it's enough to make my clothes uncomfortable."

"I can feel it, your stomach is usually very flat." Jamie rubbed circles over her small bump and leaned in to kiss her, which turned heated quickly. Eddie pulled away smiling seeing how excited he seemed about this. Maybe she underestimated him.

"So. . . explain to me the salad ?" Jamie asked, still holding her.

Eddie laughed seeing the smirk on his face, "It seems as if fried foods make me sick right now, pizza seems to be OK, and so does salad. I've been craving Caesar Salad a lot this last week."

"Oh, I'm going to have fun with this." Jamie teased kissing her. Eddie rolled her eyes.

"Can we just eat, I'm hungry."

"Somethings never change." Jamie smirked, getting the food out.

They had a wonderful night. Eddie curled up next to Jamie with his arm around her. She loved being in his arms, she felt so safe there. Jamie leaned his head on hers and was so happy she was there with him. He hadn't spent much time with her in the last 10 days and he missed her so much.

Eddie found herself drawing circles on his stomach and chest while Jamie was running his hand up and down her leg. She really missed being with him, it had been so long, and he felt the same. Jamie leaned over and kissed her, bringing his hand up to her cheek. As their kiss intensified Jamie trailed his hand down her neck, over her shoulder, untying the strap of her dress exposing her breast. He continued down cupping her breast and lightly brushing his thumb over her nipple. He absolutely loved the little noises that escaped her. Eddie sat up, never losing their connection and straddled Jamie's lap. She could already feel his excitement growing so she decided to tease him by rubbing herself on him. This time it was Jame who was moaning. Eddie smiled and pulled his shirt over his head before taking his mouth into hers. Jamie wrapped his arms around her and pulled her even closer to him. He untied the other strap and her dress fell down to her waist exposing her slightly larger breasts to him. Eddie leaned back into Jamie's strong hands giving him full access. He took one breast and then the other into his mouth.

"I need you." Eddie whispered in his ear.

"I need you too." Jamie whispered back before picking her up and carrying her into the bedroom. They enjoyed each other several times that night before falling asleep in each other's arms. Despite the few hours sleep, Jamie got up to make them breakfast before going to mass and dinner with the family.

"I'll be back between 5 and 6 tonight. Please stay, I'd love to see you when I get home." Jamie told her.

"I'll see about that." She teased him

"I love you."

"I love you too, Jamie." she told him before giving him a long, passionate kiss.

"Mmm, what a send off." Jamie smiled. "Oh, and don't change, I love seeing you in nothing but my t-shirt." Jamie teased before walking out the door.

After taking a shower she cleaned up from breakfast, straightened up his living room and the bedroom remembering the amazing night they had. Their last night together had been even better than she imagined. She briefly questioned herself about her decision but knew it was what she had to do.

She knew that she really wanted to be with Jamie, she's always loved him but it was her decision not to wait for Jamie anymore so it's her fault that she put herself in this position. She knew deep down that Jamie would probably support her for a while but she felt guilty asking him to support someone else's child. This was definitely not what she wanted to do but she had no choice. With tears streaming down her face, she kissed the envelope and placed the tear stained letter on the bed knowing he would look for her in here when he came home from family dinner. Before she left she took the t-shirt of Jamie's that she had been wearing and packed it in her bag, she wanted something of his that she could remember him by.

When Jamie arrived home after Sunday dinner, his apartment was quiet. He figured Eddie had taken a nap, she had been so emotionally drained recently. He walked quietly towards the bedroom but she wasn't there and neither was her bag. That was when he noticed the envelope on the bed with his name on it. He sat down on the bed to read it.

Jamie,

This is an very hard letter for me to write. I have been playing the words in my head for 2 days before I could even put it on paper. I love you sooo much, please know that but I am in a very bad place right now. I wish I had stayed true to my heart and waited for you. I wish I hadn't been so impatient for a relationship. I wish this was your baby that I'm pregnant with. I've made many mistakes in the last 7 months, but starting a relationship with you was NOT one of them. I wish things were different but unfortunately they're not. I know you said we would get through this together but I can't ask you to take care of another man's child, it's just not fair to you. I wouldn't want you to resent me or the baby. I got into this situation so now I have to deal with it. I made a decision, it was not one I really wanted to make but one I will have to deal with because of the choices I made. I am moving to Philadelphia. I gave the NYPD my notice, Friday was my last day.

My heart breaks knowing we won't be able to see where our relationship could have gone. My heart believes it would have been amazing. My wish for you is to be happy, you deserve it. I am so very sorry, Jamie. You will always be my true love.

I will love you forever,

Eddie

Tears were streaming down his face as he finished reading the letter. His hands were shaking but he picked up his phone to call her. There was no answer, the phone just rang and rang. He continued to call as he ran out of his apartment. He arrived at her place 15 minutes later, her car was not it's spot but he went into her building anyway. The first thing he noticed was her name was missing from the mailbox. He made his way up to her floor and noticed someone coming out of the apartment.

"Where is the woman that lives here?" Jamie asked.

"Sorry man, she moved out yesterday." He told Jamie and walked away. He held back his tears as best as he could until he got to his car. He grabbed his phone and texted Kara.
