Time draws closer and closer to the end of Dragon Ball. Soon, we will be moving on to Z, and the story will be far from the same it once was. But that is for later. Let us focus on the here and now.

I hope you all enjoyed the last chapter with Tao. I hope it had enough changes to warrant it getting a chapter, as it's still early and not too many of the big changes had come yet. But they will soon.

I have to thank you all for sticking with this story, as I know for now the chances aren't too story changing at the moment. But trust me, it will soon.

Last time on Dragon Ball ZMX, Goku, Bulma and Chichi had faced off against the merciless Mercenary Tao. In the confrontation, Bora, the father of their new friend Upa, had been killed. And so after defeating the contract killer, Goku vowed to bring Bora back to life. So he had set out to collect the remainder of the dragon balls, and faced off against the Red Ribbon Army in their own home base. When his friends showed up, expecting to give support, they were surprised to find that Goku had already completely crushed the army and all its forces.

In the aftermath, Goku had noticed that the radar did not seem to pick up the final dragon ball. And so he had hoped Bulma would be able to fix it. After a quick ride back to Kame House, Bulma gave the radar a look, and saw that it didn't seem to be broken. It was in proper working order, and believed the reason the radar wasn't picking up the final dragon ball could be that it might have been swallowed by something, as organic matter could make it difficult to pick up their unique energy wave.

Just when they thought they would never find the ball, Roshi had suggested they meet with the fortune teller, Baba. That with her mystical powers, she would help them locate the ball in no time. So with a clear goal in mind, Goku, Yamcha, Krillin, Chichi, Bulma and Puar had all set out.

They first however needed to make a quick stop at a town, as Goku's clothes had started to rip to shreds, after all the abuse said clothes had taken. Bulma and Chichi couldn't help but blush at this, and Goku, much to his confusion, also seemed to blush at the two girls seeing him like that. Though he didn't understand why. After that, Goku had felt they should bring Upa along, so that he didn't have to be alone.

Upa was happy to see Goku, Bulma, and Chichi again, and was also glad to come along. Though he was nervous about leaving home for the first time in his life. Krillin, thinking Upa was a girl, thought he was cute, but then felt embarrassed when it was revealed Upa was in fact a boy.

And so, now that they were all set, they began making their way to Baba, and after a bumpy storm, they eventually made it to the palace Baba lived in. It was a magnificent palace built on an oasis in the middle of a desert, and the gang could see a group of people lined up at the front of the palace.

"Huh, guess this place is pretty popular." Bulma spoke as they began hopping out of the plane.

"Yeah, check out the huge crowd." Krillin noted as they made their way over.

Yamcha went over to the crowd. "Uh… hi?"

One of the men turned to Yamcha. He had a very tough look, along with his friends. "Yeah, what?" Despite his soft voice, his intense glare still made him pretty intimidating.

Yamcha had a nervous look. "N-nothing!" he yelped.

Bulma gulped a little. "Are we sure we are in the right place?" she whispered.

"This is where Roshi's map said…" Chichi said with a shrug.

Just then, a ghost in a straw hat came out. "Welcome! I ask that you please get in line. Formation before information!" it said in a cheery tone.

Puar gave a startled gasp. "I-is that a ghost?!"

"I-I think it is…" Krillin said in shock.

Goku however just smiled and greeted the ghost. "Hi! Is this fortune-caller Baba's house?"

This just made the ghost have a confused look. "Uh… I think you mean fortune-teller… and this isn't a house, it's a palace…" the ghost then turned to the whole group. "So are you seven all here together?"

"Y-yes… we are…" Yamcha said with a nod.

The ghost just had a big grin as it gave a creepy chuckle. "Hehehe… good, good, marvelous…" It then gestured to the line. "Just wait here until you are called. Be sure to enjoy the view." it then flew off inside the front building.

"This place is really weird…" Upa said nervously.

Yamcha couldn't help but agree. "Yeah… from the looks of those guys in line, they should call her fortune-wrestler Baba…"

Bulma then placed a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry. If we can work together, we should be fine in case this gets ugly." Yamcha gave her a small nod.

Just then, they saw a normal, albeit clearly wealthy, couple coming out, seeming to be happy, talking about finding an expensive necklace their daughter had lost.

Krillin smiled as he saw them. "They looked pretty normal to me. Maybe we are just getting worked up over nothing."

Yamcha had a suspicious look however. Something was bugging him. Before long, the ghost had allowed the group of rough looking men inside. They all seemed excited for something, which only made Yamcha even more suspicious.

"Anyone else notice how they looked like they were marching into battle?" Chichi asked with a drop of sweat running down her face.

"Y-yeah…" Upa said with a nod as he hid behind Yamcha and Bulma. They all had a bad feeling about this.

And it only grew worse when they heard what sounded like shouting and screaming. They all trembled in fear as it was the voices of the men from before. And they sounded like they were in pain. And it was only confirmed when the men began to walk, or more accurately, limp, out of the building. They were covered in casts and bandages, and using crutches or each other in order to walk.

The ghost gave them a wave goodbye. "I hope you all heal quickly, and come back soon!" it said in a cheery tone.

This made all the beaten men look at the ghost in fear, before they limped away as quickly as they could.

"W-what happened to them…" Bulma asked nervously.

The ghost then went to the group. "Alright! You're next!"

The group turned to the ghost. "S-so why were they all beat up?" Yamcha asked.

The ghost's grin just grew even bigger. "Follow me please~" They all just nervously followed the ghost, before arriving at the main building. The inside of which was completely dark, as they couldn't see anyone, or anything. "Here we are! Fortune-teller Baba!"

Everyone looked around in confusion. "Where is she?" Bulma asked.

"Maybe she is invisible?" suggested Goku.

Just then, a bright light shined, revealing a crystal ball that began to float downward, revealing a small old woman in a witch outfit, and had purple hair, sitting atop the magic ball.

The woman looked at the group and smiled. "Oh my. So you brought me young ones this time." she mused to the ghost, who nodded.

Everyone looked at her nervously, save for Goku who stepped forward. "So then you must be fortune-seller Baba."

This made Baba do a double take, and almost made her fall off her crystal ball. "Fortune teller Baba." she corrected.

Goku just laughed a little. "That's a really funny name."

Baba began to grow annoyed at this boy. "It's foreboding and mysterious!" she shouted.

Chichi nervously stepped to the boy. "Probably not a good idea to upset her."

"What do you mean? I just said her name was funny…" Goku clearly didn't understand the issue. He then turned back to the fortune-teller. "So can you help us find what we're looking for?"

Baba gave the boy a smirk. "Of course. Whatever is lost, I can find." she said in a confident tone. This made everyone smile and feel reassured. Thinking they were about to bring back Upa's father.

Krillin looked up to the others. "She sure is nice for such a creepy lady." he hoped of course that she didn't hear that.

Baba however was focused on something else. "Of course, before I do anything, there is the matter of the fee."

Yamcha now felt uneasy, as he remembered seeing the rich couple from before. "How much do you charge, exactly?"

Baba smirked at them. "Well lets see… before taxes, and if you use our coupon, I believe it should be roughly around ten million zeni."

This made Krillin, Puar, and Krillin go wide eyed in shock at this. "T-TEN MILLION?!"

Goku and Upa looked at them in confusion. "Is that a lot?" Goku asked.

Chichi and Bulma also looked confused, but not for the same reason. "That doesn't seem all that much to me." Chichi mused.

"Yeah, I don't see what the big deal is." Bulma agreed with a shrug.

Krillin looked at the two girls in shock. "HOW IS THAT NOT A LOT?!" before a look of realization spread across his face. "Oh wait… you girls are a princess and the daughter of a billionaire inventor… of course you don't think it's a lot…"

An idea came to Yamcah. "Wait, that's perfect. You two could pay for it!"

Chichi looked up to Bulma. "That sounds good to me. We can split it between us."

She looked back at her friend with a nod. "Sounds good to me."

A massive grin spread across Baba's face. "Ah, perfect, perfect." she cackled as she ringed her hands. "I like you two, I can see something special in your futures." of course she mainly said that because she got paid, but, there was something about Chichi she liked. "Tell me girls, what are your names?"

"I'm Bulma Brief."

"And I'm Chichi."

Baba turned to Chichi. "Oh? The Ox King's daughter?"

This took Chichi by surprise. "Wait, you know my father?"

"Of course I do. He was my brother's student after all. Just like you are, judging by the get up." Baba said through laughter.

The eyes of the group went wide at this reveal. "Wait, you're master Roshi's sister?" Asked Krillin.

"Hmp! So that idiot didn't tell you? That's just like him. Doesn't even bother to tell anyone he has a big sister." she said in a huff.

Goku meanwhile thought about something. "So, what was with those guys before? The ones that left all beat up?"

"Hm? Oh, well they came for the challenge."

"Challenge?"

"That's right. We actually have an alternative form of payment for when someone can't afford to pay for their fortune to be read. Or people can come seeking to take the challenge for the sake of it. It is where you must face and defeat my four warriors in one on one battles." Baba explained.

This got Goku excited. "Wow! They must be really strong!"

"Hehe, indeed they are."

"Do you think I could have a shot at them?"

Yamcha and Krillin looked at each other, before nodding and turning to Baba. "Sounds like fun to me. Can we join too?" Yamcha asked.

Baba thought about it for a moment. She was in a pretty good mood after getting paid, and she was pretty curious about the monkey tailed boy her brother told her about. "Well, I don't see why not." she chuckled. She then turned to the girls. "What about you two? Feel like having a go?"

Bulma shook her head. "I think I'd need a little more training before I could take on some fighting challenge."

Chichi nodded with her friend. "Yeah, and I'm not really as interested."

Baba gave a shrug. "Suit yourselves." she then gestured to the ghost to lead them to the arena. Bulma followed to watch, and when Chichi was about to, Baba stopped her. "How are you handling my brother's training, by the way?"

Chichi was surprised at the question. "O-oh… It's fine. I'm making some good progress."

Baba gave the girl a small nod. "Hmm… that's good. I was just wondering if you'd like to spice it up a little… add a bit of flair to it." she chuckled. "Has he taught you his kame… hame thingy?"

"Well… not really. Goku showed me a bit of the basics, but other than that, nothing else. I can't really do it as well as he can…" Chichi said with a hint of embarrassment.

Baba paused for a second, before leaning close to the girl. "Well… maybe I can offer to teach you something… better?"

"W-what do you mean?"

"Hehe, trust me, the training my brother would offer you is for meat heads. What I can offer you is of a more… mystical persuasion…" Baba said as she waved her hands about, causing magic to sparkle from her fingers.

Chichi had a look of both amazement, and intrigue. "Really?"

Baba chuckled. "Trust me. I can tell you want to learn more about ki and make some light shows with it. But I can teach you how to enhance it with a bit more spiritual finesse. This goes further than my brother can offer you, dearie. Not only would you be able to use your own ki, but also outside energy, summoning it to do as you please with it, and to give yourself that extra pizazz! Think you'd like to learn more?"

Chichi's eyes began to sparkle as she began to slowly nod. "Y-yes! I'd love that!"

Baba smirked as she used her telepathy on Chichi. "Hmm… good. I can see you were beginning to stagnate with how things were going. You were starting to be just another member of that little group of yours. But with my help, you can set yourself apart, and be totally unique, like that blue haired friend of yours with her gadgets and gizmos." Baba explained, referring to Balma's gauntlets and boots. "Besides, I would never pass up a chance to one up my brother by making one of his students stronger than they could be under his poor excuse for tutelage."

Chichi began to bounce excitedly. "That would be wonderful! When can we start?"

"Patience dearie, patience." Baba chuckled. "I'll tell you after your friends are done, and tell them what they wanted to know."

As they went outside, they saw Roshi was now here, as Goku had brought him. He appeared to have a handkerchief to his nose, while Bulma appeared to be chewing out and smacking Krillin, while Goku had a very unhappy look at him while blushing. Though he himself didn't understand why he was blushing or why he was so mad.

Baba went over to Roshi with an annoyed look. "Well well, look who the turtle dragged in. Wish you were here when we moved mother. And to top it all off, you missed my birthday… AGAIN!" she spat.

Roshi rolled his eyes behind his glasses. "Happy birthday…" he sighed.

Baba then turned to the others. "So, how are you enjoying my fighters?"

Yamcha gave a smirk. "It's been pretty great training."

"Yeah, you say that because you didn't get your head bit by a vampire…" Krillin grumbled as he rubbed his head as it was covered in bandages.

"I'm still waiting for my turn." Goku told her with a smile.

"Hehe, well then how about you go next, Goku?" offered Yamcha.

Goku had an excited look. "Really? Thanks, Yamcha!"

Baba smirked. "I have to admit, I'm eager to see what you can do, young man. I'm curious to see if my idiot little brother did something right for once."

"Hey! My style of training is what got me to be renowned worldwide." Roshi protested.

"Oh really? So is being a lech part of your training?"

"The turtle school way is simple, Baba. Work hard, study well, and eat and sleep plenty."

"Oh yes, such great words of wisdom." Baba groaned as she rolled her eyes. The two siblings argued amongst each other, before getting ready for the next two matches.

To Baba's great surprise, Goku not only managed to defeat Bandages the Mummy with a single punch, but also was able to resist Spike the Devil Man's devilmite beam, something only a person without even a hint of evil in their heart could manage.

Baba looked on in amazement as she watched the boy. "My my, Roshi, this boy really is something else…"

Roshi gave a smirk. "That's my student for you."

Baba rolled her eyes. "I'm honestly tempted to have him join my fighters. But… I get the feeling he would decline." Honestly, she had a feeling Goku had a very interesting future in store for him.

When Goku finished his battle with Spike, and got out of the arena, he had a big smile on his face. "That was a lot of fun, miss fortune fella."

"...fortune-TELLER." She corrected. She liked the kid, but he wasn't exactly carrying a full deck. "Anyway, now that you had your fun, how about I give you your fortune. What is it you need?"

"Well Baba, these young ones need your help finding the last dragon ball. Their radar can't seem to find it." Roshi explained.

"Hmm… Well, let's see what I can find…" Baba said as she began to peer into her crystal ball. "Huh, well that's peculiar… it seems to be moving…"

"What do you mean?" Chichi asked as they began to look into the ball. It seemed to show a car.

Bulma raised a brow. "That's weird… if it's in a car, why isn't it showing up on the radar…" something wasn't adding up to her.

Baba sighed. "I don't know what to tell you. All I can say is that the dragon ball is two hundred miles that way." Baba then pointed in the direction of the car.

"Alright, it should be easy." Goku smiled as he called the Flying Nimbus and got going.

The gang all watched him leave, and Upa smiled. Knowing his father would be alive again soon.

Chichi placed a hand on his shoulder. "It's almost over, Upa."

He gave her a nod as he hugged the bag that held the six dragon balls. "Yeah. I can't wait to tell my dad everything that happened."

"Well you won't have to wait long. Knowing Goku, he'll be back before we know it." Bulma assured.

However, it did in fact take longer than they thought. Goku hadn't been back for a while, leaving the rest of the gang to wonder what was taking him.

Krillin had grabbed a snack as he sat on one of Baba's couches. "I never expected Goku to take so long." He said while he ate.

Something was definitely bugging Bulma as she tried to think. "It still doesn't make sense to me. If the dragon ball was just in some car, how was it that the radar couldn't pick it up?"

"Maybe it's just broken?" Chichi asked.

"Can't be. I checked it myself, and it's working perfectly. It even detects the other dragon balls without any problems."

"I think you are just overthinking it, Bulma. Goku will be fine." Krillin assured.

"Yeah! Goku is really strong, so nothing could hurt him!" Agreed Puar.

Bulma let out a sigh. "Hey Baba, could you at least see who was in that car?"

"Got another ten million zeni?" The fortune-teller asked with a cheeky grin.

"Are you kidding me?! We already paid you!"

"I only do one session per payment. You want another, then that costs extra." She explained with a cackle.

Roshi sighed. "Ever the shrewd business woman."

"That's right!" She laughed. Just then, a crow came flying in, startling everyone, while Baba just trembled. "Oh dear… that's a bad omen…" She said in a nervous tone.

Yamcha went to chase the crow away, only for the lace on his boot to snap, and a mirror to suddenly crack. Baba was definitely beginning to reconsider charging them, as even she was starting to feel worried for the poor boy.

Eventually, when they began to really worry, and considered heading out to find him, they heard a voice in the distance calling out to them.

Krillin turned in the direction of the voice. "Look guys! It's Goku!"

"Oh what a relief!" Chichi said as she let out an elated sigh.

Roshi smiled behind his beard. "Seems his trip was successful after all."

When Goku jumped down from the Flying Nimbus, he was amazed to see that Goku got the final dragon ball. Though… a few of Goku's friends were confused why his clothes were different.

Goku turned to Upa with a smile. "Ready to go bring your dad back?"

Upa nodded excitedly. "Of course!"

"Great! Then hop on!" Goku said as he got onto the Flying Nimbus.

Upa hopped on with him, and after a tearful farewell, the two of them flew off.

Roshi gave a sigh. "That boy really should learn to take a break…"

"I'm just sad I don't get to see the eternal dragon. I was hoping I'd get the chance." Krillin grumbled.

Yamcha however gave a chuckle. "Well you gotta admit, he sure is something else. Hard to believe he managed to find all the dragon balls so quickly."

Baba nodded. "He truly is amazing. That boy is destined for greatness."

Chichi looked at the fortune-teller in confusion. "What do you mean, miss Baba?"

The woman gave a smirk to the young girl. "Just call it a hunch. I foresee that boy becoming a great hero of the ages."

With nothing else to do, the others decided to just sit back and wait for Goku to return. Yamcha looked to Roshi. He was wondering if he should go over to the master, as he had a burning question.

Roshi saw the way Yamcha was looking at him, and had a raised brow. "Something on your mind, Yamcha?"

"Well… the thing is…" Yamcha was a little nervous. "I was wondering if you could possibly take me on as a student…" This caught Bulma by surprise. "I feel like I'm going soft living in the city. And after seeing how strong Goku got because of you, I was hoping I could undergo your training as well."

The old hermit shook his head. "Sorry my boy, but I don't think I can handle another student. I mean I am an old man after all. I got my limits."

Yamcha however started to beg. "Come one! Please, I won't be any trouble, I promise!"

"Sorry, but it's just too much work." He declined.

This made Bulma start to fume at how her friend was being brushed off. "Why can't you give him a shot you lazy old fart?!"

"H-hey! Who are you calling lazy?!" Roshi shouted in shock.

"You! Yamcha is a great fighter. He had managed to teach me so much, so he could become really strong if you gave him a shot!"

"W-well I can't. I have… things to do, so I don't have the time." Roshi said as she scratched his cheek a little.

Bulma rolled her eyes. But then an idea came to her. "How about this, if you train Yamcha, I'll… visit more often. After all, I could use his help with my own training from time to time."

Roshi had an excited look as he placed his hand on Yamcha's shoulder. "When can you start?" This made everyone practically fall over themselves at how easily he changed his mind from that.

Yamcha however couldn't be happier. He was really grateful to Bulma. First she helped him get over his fear of girls, now she helped him be able to train with Roshi. She really was an amazing friend.

"Thanks Bulma." Yamcha said to her with a smile.

Bulma just smirked. "Hey, I feel like I owe you a little bit for helping me train. Besides, it just means you'll have more to teach me."

Yamcha gave a soft chuckle. "Hehe, guess you are right."

But then Bulma gave him an annoyed look. "And the first thing we can work on is you teaching me about fighting styles. Chichi brought up the fact that I fight like a flailing little kid."

"I-I didn't say that…" Chichi objected.

"You didn't need to. It's pretty obvious when you compare how I fight to the rest of you."

Yamcha had a nervous look. "U-um… sure. We can work on your fighting style…" He replied with a small nod.

Eventually, Goku had come back, with his friends happy to see him. To their surprise, Goku managed to hold onto the four star ball, his keepsake of when his journey first started.

When Yamcha told Goku the good news that they would be training together, Goku got excited. Only for Roshi to put a damper on it, by telling Goku that he had nothing left to learn from the hermit. He had been through so much, in such a short time, that he would only be able to get stronger if he lived on his own in the wilderness.

Goku was a little bummed he didn't get to train with his friends, but he was very understanding. But he was especially surprised that he wasn't allowed to use the Flying Nimbus until the time of the tournament in three years. And so, after a long goodbye, Goku ran off into the great wide world.

Roshi smiled as he watched Goku as he left. "That boy really is something."

Baba smirked as she had an idea. "Why not give them a taste of what it's like to be Goku?" she suggested with an evil grin.

Roshi grinned right back at his sister, before turning back to the others. "Alright everyone, let's not give Goku a headstart over the rest of you. We are running back to Kame House!" He then turned to Bulma. "That means you two, missy! If you want to train with Yamcha, then you'll have to follow our training regiment whenever you visit!"

Bulma's eyes went wide in shock. "Oh come on!" she whined as the group began to start running.

Chichi was about to join in, before being stopped by Baba. "And where might you be going? Did you forget I offered to train you as well?"

Chichi stopped right in her tracks. "O-oh right… I kinda forgot, given everything that happened…" she had a massive blush of embarrassment spread across her face.

Baba chuckled a little. "Well, that is understandable. But don't worry. Once I'm done, I'm sure you'll get pretty far in that tournament you kids are so excited for."

"You think so?"

"Oh yes. In fact, with my help, you may just win the whole thing!"

This got Chichi excited. "Alright! How should we start?"

Baba led her back inside to her main building. "I'm gonna be blunt with you kiddo. I won't be teaching you how to fight or put on light shows like my dimwit brother would. I don't exactly work that way."

Chichi then had a look that was a mix of confusion and disappointment. "O-oh… so what can you teach me?"

Baba had an annoyed look. "I already told you. I can teach you to tap into what you already possess, and even more. I can teach you to bring out your inner beast, and empower you to defeat your opponents. You could even call upon divine energy itself. Like gaining a bit of help when you fight."

Chichi was amazed. She could already see it now. She could possibly develop her own style of the turtle school martial arts. One that utilized the skills taught to her by Roshi, with magic added to the mix. "That sounds amazing, miss Baba!"

"Hehe, I'm glad you think so, dearie." Baba chuckled. "The first step requires you to look deep within yourself. You have to find the spirit animal that rests within you, and harness it into strength."

"How do I do that?"

"You will need to concentrate. Try to find it and bring it forth with your own will. It will take some time, but with my guidance, I know you can do it." Baba assured as she rested a hand on Chichi's shoulder.

After that, Chichi had spent many months trying to find her inner spirit beast, but she had been having no progress whatsoever. No matter how hard she tried, nothing seemed to work.

There were points Chichi had actually considered giving up. But then all these months would have been a waste. She refused to believe she wasted all this time when she could have been training.

It came to a head when Chichi was absolutely enraged from her lack of progress. "Grrrrr aaaAAAAAAHHHH! WHY ISN'T IT WORKING?!" she shouted. "I've been sitting here for months! Just give me something!" she roared out. Her whole body began to glow as her anger just kept rising.

Just then, she heard a completely different roar. When she turned to where it came from, she saw a massive flaming bull, and a very angry one at that, as it was charging around the square, causing havoc and mayhem. It then charged towards Chichi.

Said girl let out a scream as she was getting circled around by the beast. "BABA! HELP ME!" she begged in terror.

Baba scurried out when she heard all the commotion. And she was shocked when she saw the massive monster circling around Chichi in a rage. She never knew so much pent up anger and rage could be inside someone so young. But… then she remembered this was the daughter of the Ox King. He is a sweet guy, but can be pretty dangerous when in a rage. So she felt it all made sense now. She was amazed at what Chichi's rage was capable of.

"Well… this should make things much easier." Baba chuckled.

After she helped calm things down, and dinner came around, Chichi felt really embarrassed about what had happened. But as she sulked, a thought came to her mind.

"Miss Baba?"

"Yes child? Something you need?"

"I was just curious. How come you never trained any of Roshi's other students?"

Baba let out a small cackle. "Well, let's just say my brother tends to attract a certain type when it comes to students. Meat headed jocks, or weirdos with no hope for a normal conversation."

Chichi had a bit of an annoyed group. "You aren't throwing Goku or my dad into either of those groups, are you?"

Baba had a small bead of sweat run down her face. "N-no! Of course not. The two of them are very lovely people… But the thing is, you would have to be the first girl I ever met that became his student. And I saw something in you. Besides, I wouldn't want to subject a poor girl to that pervert."

"What about Bulma?"

"Oh, her? I'm sure she can handle him. It's my brother that needs to worry." Baba said through laughter. Chichi couldn't help but join in remembering how often Bulma tends to slap Roshi around.

Chichi then looked down at her food. "I think I understand. Would you ever think about taking on other students?"

Baba gave a shrug. "Probably not. This is more of a… one time thing. As much as I like you, I still feel martial artists are simpletons. But I'd like you to have a leg up on them. And now I know it can be done." she said smugly. "But don't worry, I intend to put you through the ringer till you master this. I can see you will do well in that next tournament if you stick to the training."

"I'll do it!" Chichi nodded, excited for what the future had in store for these next three years.

After that, Chichi began learning more and more from Baba. Starting with simple magic spells and the like, such as levitation. She was also learning how to harness her inner bull more often, increasing her strength, and causing her fists to light on fire when she summoned it forth.

And at night, she would go about her martial arts training. Going over everything she learned from Roshi, and practicing her kamehameha wave. With each night, she would slowly get better and better, until she made the perfect energy wave… that ended up hitting one of Baba's walls.

She had gotten quite the scolding for that one, before Baba had called Ox King, demanding payment for the repairs. OF course Baba couldn't help but feel proud of the girl, regardless of the damages dealt. Chichi was also overjoyed at her progress, learning to mix ki and magic together. Sure it likely didn't make her stronger than Goku, but it gave her something he didn't, something that was hers.

Bulma meanwhile wasn't slacking off either. Sometimes against her will, as whenever she visited Yamcha for training, Roshi forced her to undergo special turtle school lessons, such as the milk run while wearing turtle shells. Something Bulma wanted to die of embarrassment wearing. But she had to admit, she had definitely gotten much faster and stronger from it. She would immediately notice the difference every time she took the shell off.

And when she was home, she continued working on the rest of her suit to go with the gauntlets and gloves. Even taking in some ki lessons to make the suit try and enhance her natural ki reserves. Which she witnessed first hand when she attempted to fire off her own kamehameha wave with and without the suit. The difference was like night and day. Without the suit it was small, little more than what Goku managed when he first fired his own. But with it on, the beam was much more powerful. Nowhere near the level Goku is capable of now, but still plenty powerful.

Seeing this encouraged Bulma to work even harder on the suit. Making her excited to show off what she could do when the next tournament came along. She could imagine the looks on everyone's faces, as she can't help but imagine herself winning the tournament. It actually began to go to her head, making her think she could stand a chance against Goku in this thing. A blush formed on her face, as she imagined him congratulating her.

After she finished the suit, more or less, she placed it in a capsule with the number label, 749, as it signified when she met Goku, and her life was completely changed. Once again, this brought a blush to her face.

Three years passed within a blink of an eye for the two girls, along with all their friends, as they trained for the world tournament.

When the time came, Bulma had decided to pick up Krillin and Yamcha, along with the others who would be watching.

Bulma came to Kame House, seeing the two were ready and wearing a pair of suits. "Hey you two, looking sharp." She greeted.

"Hey, Bulma, thanks." Yamcha chuckled.

"So, you ready to go?"

"Not just yet. Master Roshi is still getting ready." Krillin explained.

Bulma rolled her eyes and let out a sigh. "What is taking that geezer so long?"

"Don't tell me he's at that age where he needs help getting dressed." Grumbled Oolong.

Just then, Roshi and Launch, in her blue haired form thankfully, were walking out of Kame House.

"How do I look, Launch?" Roshi asked her.

Launch gave a small giggle. "Oh, I think you look distinguished."

"Distinguished? Darn… I was hoping for sexy…" the old man grumbled.

"About time, Roshi. We were thinking about leaving without you." Bulma told him.

"Hold your horses. I'm coming!" Roshi assured. He then turned to Launch. "You sure you don't want to come?"

Launch shook her head. "I'd love to. But the city air is bad for my sinuses."

"Well alright. We'll be back after a couple of-" before Roshi could finish, something brushed against Launch's nose, causing her to sneeze, much to the horror of everyone there.

Blonde Launch then came into the picture, and began to look at the gang in confusion, before having a pissed off look. "And just where do you think you are all going?"

Roshi gulped nervously. "W-well, we were just gonna go to the world martial art tournament for a few days…"

"Without me?!" Launch shouted in anger.

"B-but you just said the city air is bad for your sinuses!" he explained, trying to defend himself and the others.

Launch then scoffed as she stomped her foot down. "Are you kidding? I love the smell of smog in my lungs!" she laughed. There was no getting out of it. She was coming with them. They were a little nervous about bringing a gun toting, trigger happy thug with them, but they felt they may not have had a choice in the matter at this point.

Though it did seem she had grown a soft spot for her friends at least. She seemed to really dislike the mention of Jackie Chun, since he had beaten Goku in the last tournament. Though… the group were a little more concerned with how she suggested killing Chun, much to the fear of Roshi. It made him consider not entering the tournament as Jackie.

Meanwhile at Baba's palace, Chichi was getting ready to leave as well. It had been three years of magical education, and keeping up her martial arts training with Baba's monsters. Of course it wasn't constant training. Sometimes, Bulma would visit, but she would be asked to keep Chichi's special training a secret, as Baba wanted Roshi to be surprised for the tournament.

When Bulma visited, the girls would hang out in the nearest town for a bit of downtime. Baba showed that she really knew how to have fun, which surprised the two girls, but were certainly glad for it.

Once the time came, Chichi made sure she was packed and ready to go. Though her gi was in tatters from all the training, and it was a little small on her, given she had grown a bit over the last three years.

Baba looked at the girl, and shook her head. "Well, it looks like you are going to need a new outfit if you are going to be joining the tournament."

"Do I have enough time to get a new one though?" Chichi asked in concern. She didn't want Goku to have to see her like this after all.

Baba then chuckled. "Oh no need to worry about that, dear." she then waved her hand as she used her magic materialization spell. Creating a whole new outfit for Chici, that Baba felt more fit the girl's style.

The outfit still carried the turtle school emblem, but it was black, and looked more like a traditional dress top, that was black with a red belt, armbands, pants, and undertop. (think a black version of her teen outfit)

Chichi looked down at herself in amazement. "Wow, it looks so wonderful! Thank you miss Baba!"

"Hehe, the only way you need to thank me is by showing what you can do at that tournament. And with the look on my brother's face." Baba chuckled.

Chichi smiled as she gave Baba a hug. "I'll never forget all you've done for me."

"And I'll never forget your big poc- er… I mean your… big heart." Baba said nervously. "Now let's go, so you can knock them all dead, kiddo."

After that, Baba had shown Chichi her own means of getting to the tournament on Papaya Island. All that money she gets from telling fortunes really made her able to travel in style, as she had her own vehicles to get around. Chichi loved the ride, and was excited to see her friends. Especially Goku.

The first to arrive was Bulma, Yamcha, Krillin and the others. They made sure to sign up as soon as they arrived. When they did so, they ran into Gine, Ox King, and Gohan.

"Glad to see you here, Gohan. You too, Ox. "Roshi said with a smile to his two students.

"It's so good to see you too master!" Ox said with a smile as he gave him a hug.

"Glad things have been well for you, old friend." Gohan chuckled.

Gine went over to Bulma and hugged her. "You are looking well, Bulma. In fact, you seem to have gotten stronger."

Bulma hugged her back. "Yeah, I was inspired to give it a shot, and now I plan on taking part in the tournament!"

"Hehe, you seem pretty excited, Bulma." Yamcha noted.

The blue haired girl nodded. "Of course I am. I get to show off all my hard work for the last three years after all."

"Well don't feel bad when you lose." Krillin chuckled.

"We'll see about that." Bulma told the bald boy.

"Hehe, well you certainly seem confident!" Gine chuckled.

Roshi then asked the man at the registration counter if Goku had signed up yet. But much to the surprise, he hadn't even arrived yet. "You don't suppose he forgot what day it is?" Roshi said nervously.

"I doubt that boy could ever forget something like this." Gohan denied, before a voice called out to them. Though it wasn't the voice of Goku. "Hey guys!"

When they turned to see who it was, they saw it was none other than Chichi. Bulma smiled as she ran over to hug her friend. She had grown so much, Bulma didn't need to bend over as much as she used to. "Glad you could make it!"

"Hehe, same! I'm so happy to see you all again!"

Roshi went over to his long absent student. "And where have you been exactly?"

Chichi gave the old turtle hermit a smile. "Oh, I've been doing my own special training."

Roshi now grew suspicious. "Really now?"

"Mhm!" she nodded.

Ox King then took his turn to hug his daughter. "Hello, my little princess! I can tell you got even stronger since last time!"

Chichi smiled as she hugged her father back. "Thanks daddy." She then began to look around. "So… where's Goku?"

"He didn't show up yet. We have been waiting for him to get here actually." Krillin explained.

Yamcha then looked at his watch. "If he doesn't get here soon, he is gonna be too late to register."

"That doesn't seem right. I thought he would be the first to get here." Chichi said in confusion as she went to sign up. Roshi sneaked behind everyone as he quickly signed up for Jackie Chun.

They were all starting to get nervous as there was only five minutes left before the sign ups would close. Just then, three figures in green and yellow stepped towards them. "Well well, look who washed up on shore. It's been a while, master Roshi." the older man said mockingly.

Gohan let out a sigh. "Well, that's not good…" Ox King nodded in agreement.

Roshi had a fierce look as he saw the man. It was clear they knew each other. "Hmph! Hermit Crane. I'm surprised you're still kicking."

"Looked in a mirror lately? Your wrinkles are just as deep as mine." the crane master retorted.

"What do you want?" Roshi asked with a growl.

"Now now, I didn't come to start trouble." The crane master insisted, something Gohan, Ox, and Roshi highly doubted. "I just heard a funny little rumor about how your so-called pupils got pretty far in the last tournament."

"And what of it?!"

The crane hermit just smirked. "Well you and I both know you only got as far as you did because my school didn't sign up last time. But now that we are, you don't stand a chance. Just save yourself the embarrassment and leave." one of the students, the one with the third eye, just smirked at Roshi, just as confident as his master. The other had a blank expression.

Bulma was getting annoyed. "And just who do you think you are running your mouth like that?"

"Oh my, Roshi, you need a young girl to defend you?" Crane teased. "Well, she is certainly lovely at least. Don't know why she is wasting her time with you." This just angered Bulma even more.

Roshi let out a scoff. "Even after all these years, you are still full of hot air." the two masters glared at each other. Both hated rivals, longer than anyone can remember.

The old crane master then turned his back to Roshi. "Just remember, I gave you the chance to walk away. If you decide not to listen, then you only have yourself to blame." he and his students then left for the main tournament grounds.

Yamcha went over to Roshi. "Who was that weirdo?"

"Master Shen, of the crane school. Hard to believe that once upon a time, he and I called each other friends."

"He had also made it his goal to humiliate the master, and prove himself better." Ox added sternly.

This surprised everyone to say the least. They seemed the least bit like friends from what they saw. However, they were more focused on the fact that one minute was almost up, and Goku was not there yet. Yamcha was about to suggest Puar transform into Goku and sign up for him.

But then Launch saw a familiar head of spiky hair running towards them. "Wait! There he is!" they all turned to where she was pointing.

Goku waved at them as he ran at full speed. "Hold on guys! I'm almost there!" he called out. They saw he seemed to be wearing a tiger pelt, and nothing else really.

Chichi and Bulma were the most excited to see him, as they were worried he wouldn't make it in time. "Goku!" they all shouted in joy.

Goku then jammed a heel against the ground to slow down, sliding in front of the crew. "Hey guys! Hope I didn't keep you waiting."

"Hate to say you did." Krillin chuckled.

Chichi then pulled Goku into a hug. Due to having grown a bit, while Goku had only just barely done so, he ended up getting a face full of chest. Something that made Goku blush, though even after all this time, he was still confused at why, while Roshi went to sign Goku up.

When the hug ended, Bulma went up to the boy. "Hehe, I can tell by looking at you that you were up to the same trouble as ever. You are filthy." she said jokingly.

Goku gave her a warm smile. "It's good to see you again, Bulma."

This made Bulma smile as she kneeled down and hugged him, not caring one bit if he was covered in dirt. She had really missed him.

Yamcha then smirked at Krillin, before looking to Goku. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but you look like you grew a little."

Krillin huffed at this. "So what if he grew a few inches… it's mostly that mess he calls hair…" he grumbled in jealousy, as he had barely grown at all.

Gine smiled at her son. "You've grown so much. Won't be long before I won't be able to hold you in my arms anymore."

Goku chuckled. "Hehe, well maybe one day I could carry you instead, mom!" This just made Gine laugh as she didn't doubt it.

Roshi then walked to Goku. "So why do you look so winded if you flew here on a cloud? Where is the nimbus, and why are you late?"

Goku looked at him in confusion. "But, master Roshi, you told me not to use the nimbus, remember?"

This made Roshi have a nervous look. "O-oh… that's right…" He felt like he should have added that Goku could use it to get to the tournament.

"W-wait… So does that mean you swam here?" Oolong asked.

"Well, part of the way here, from a place called Yahoy." Goku answered.

This made everyone look at him in shock, save for Gine and Gohan. The rest thought that had to be impossible, as Yahoy was on the other side of the world. Now they understood why he was late.

"I think the scary thing is I actually believe you…" Oolong managed through his nervous trembling. At this point, he learned not to underestimate Goku managing the impossible.

Chichi however had an amazed look. "Wow, Goku! You must have gotten really strong and fast if you managed to do that."

"Hehe, yep. I made sure to train extra hard every day for the last three years. I can't wait to tell you about all the things I did." Goku said with a smile.

Gine gave a soft chuckle. Goku really reminded her of his father. Bardock had always managed some crazy feats. It was what made him be seen as more than just another low class warrior.

Roshi then smirked. "Why don't you tell us about it over something to eat." Instantly, Goku and Gine began to drool at the mere mention of food.

Roshi then immediately got nervous, remembering the last time he paid for the two of them. He then looked to Ox. "M-mind helping me with the bill?"

Ox chuckled and gave a small nod. "Of course, master." This made Roshi let out a relieved sigh, as they made their way to a restaurant.

The monkey tailed mother and son ate a mountain of food like before. The other fighters had also been eating quite a bit, as all the training they went through had made them work up an appetite. Bulma was surprised by how much she was eating.

If the Bulma from before the last tournament saw her now, she would be horrified and be afraid she would get fat. But now, she knew it would just be fuel for fighting.

As they ate, Goku told everyone all about his adventures. Each was more unbelievable than the last. At least they would be, if it was told by anyone else. He told them how he saved a village from two bandits with a magic gourd. And the time he saved the daughter of a king from the underworld. And how he saved a monster after it was betrayed in a scam gone wrong.

Krillin, Yamcha and Bulma began to go over the grueling training Roshi had for them. Bulma was glad she didn't have to go through it as much as them, as she only went through it when she visited. Krillin explaining how it was like the first time, dialed to a hundred.

Ox turned to his daughter curiously. "So, what did you do for training, sweetie?"

Chichi giggled and put a finger to her lips. "I'd like to keep that a surprise, daddy." Ox was confused, but figured she must have been at that age where she kept secrets.

After dinner was done, Ox had helped Roshi pay for dinner. Roshi was certainly happy that one of his old students was both rich, and insanely loyal. They then went back to their hotel room, and wanted to pass the time with a bit of cards. Much to the dismay of Roshi, he lost.

Gine, Chichi, Bulma and Launch had all gotten their own separate room from the boys, and made sure to give Roshi a pair of black eyes when he got caught peeping on them. After all was said and done, they all went to get some sleep.

When day came, Roshi had handed his students their gi. Goku was happy to be back in the turtle uniform, and Yamcha was happy to finally receive his gi. When he handed Chichi hers however, she declined. "No thanks, master. I have one of my own." She replied when she showed off her new gi.

Roshi was surprised by this. He couldn't help but feel the color scheme was… familiar somehow. Unbeknownst to him, his sister was in the crowd, and made sure to stay out of sight to not ruin the surprise.

"Wow, looking sharp there, Chichi." Bulma complimented.

"Hehe, thanks, Bulma." Chichi chuckled.

Just then, they were all given the announcement to start the preliminary rounds. When they went in, they saw that Chackie Chun was there. Goku had an excited look as he ran over to greet the previous champion. The two of them were happy to see each other, as Goku was excited for a rematch.

When the announcer spoke up, they began to set up the brackets for the preliminary matches. "Attention one and all! It is my honor to welcome you all here! We have to set up the brackets, so I ask that you all draw lots so that you may know where to go." he explained.

One by one, everyone began to line up to the ballot box, taking out a piece of paper. They were all pleasantly surprised to see they were in opposite blocks from each other, which meant there was no chance they would end up fighting.

"Huh, that seems pretty lucky to me." Bulma said with a chuckle.

"Tell me about it. I'm just glad I don't have to go up against Goku." Yamcha said with a sigh of relief.

Bulma then gave a teasing smirk. "Don't like your chances?"

"Honestly? No, if I went up against Goku, I'm not sure I'd win."

Meanwhile, however, Goku was being spied on by the three eyed student of Shen, as he and his small friend had ran into him before during Goku's training. He was certainly surprised to see the boy, but was excited to face him.

As this was happening, people began starting their matches, getting ready to fight, and see who would make it into the tournament. Krillin and Yamcha were already getting set up to fight in their matches, with their friends wishing them good luck.

Outside, the others decided to relax in the waiting area and grab some drinks. "So, the first matches should start right about now. How do you think they are doing?" Oolong asked.

Gine had a confident look as she sipped her tea. "I'm sure my baby is doing just fine."

Gohan chuckled a bit. "I doubt he would allow himself to lose so early."

"Well I hope my little girl is alright." Ox king said anxiously. He couldn't bring himself to drink anything as he was too focused on worrying about Chichi.

Launch rolled her eyes. "Quit your worrying. She's tough. No way she would let some losers beat her."

This made the Ox King smile. "Thank you, Launch."

"No problem." She had definitely grown more compassionate about her friends. Some wondered if it was the other Launch shining through, or if no longer being on the run all the time and having friends had helped.

Puar then looked around. "Has anyone seen Roshi?"

This made Gohan and the Ox King flinch. "W-well… I think I saw him following a couple of girls around…" Gohan explained.

Gine sighed. "I swear, I hope Goku never picks up that man's bad habits…"

"Trust me, Goku is way too obsessed with food and fighting to act like that." Oolong sighed. "In fact, he can be a little too ignorant when it comes to girls."

"What do you mean by that?" Gine asked the pig in confusion.

"Well for starters, he doesn't even notice that both Chichi and Bulma have a thing for him, though I can't really imagine what they see in him."

Gine would have been angered by that last part, but was too busy being surprised by the information Oolong revealed. She couldn't help but have a small smile. Heh, that takes me back…"

Gohan raised a brow at this. "What does, Gine?"

"Hehe, nothing. Just reminded of Goku's father…" Gine said as she waved it off. She remembered how years ago, before she worked at a butcher shop, she was assigned to Bardock's team. Even for a low class saiyan, she wasn't very strong. Bardock tried to help her, but it was no use. She just didn't have the heart of a conqueror. This made her be looked down on by her teammate, Fasha.

Fasha always tried to compete with Gine for Bardock's heart. Gine however didn't try to compete, as she didn't think she could possibly win. After all, why would a warrior like Bardock want to be with a weakling like her? But to her surprise, Bardock chose her instead.

Gine was saddened, as Fasha tried to be a good sport about it and act like friends. But deep down, Gine knew Fasha resented her for being the one who ended up with Bardock.

Gohan, seeing the look on her face, nodded, and felt it was best to leave it alone. Gine had already told him much about her past. He was grateful for that, and would let her tell or keep however much of the story that remained to herself. Especially since he knew that since she and Goku were likely the last of their kind, it was obviously a sore spot.

The rest of the group just looked at her curiously, but given the look Gohan gave them, they knew they should leave it alone as well.

Meanwhile back inside, Yamcha was matched up against a fighter who was far too arrogant, and mistook Yamcha having technique with bravado. But once the fight started, Yamcha had taken him down with a single blow. The opponent went down like a ragdoll.

Krillin meanwhile, was placed against a giant of a man who was a former world champion wrestler. When it looked like Krillin was in trouble, he revealed he was just acting, and won without issue.

"Nice job you two, you were amazing!" Goku congratulated.

"Hehe, thanks. But that guy wasn't so tough." Krillin beamed.

"Well, can't wait to show you what I can do." Bulma said confidently. Just then, she heard her number be called. "Speaking of, it's my time to shine." she began making her way to the ring.

As she got there, she saw her opponent and smirked. Without any thought, she pulled out the capsule that carried her suit. But before she could click the button, the referee ran over to her.

"Hold it! Any outside assistance is strictly forbidden! A capsule qualifies as such. I'm afraid I have to disqualify you." he informed her.

Bulma's eyes went wide at this. "What?! You have to be kidding me!" she shouted in a mix of anger and frustration.

"Sorry ma'am, those are the rules." the ref explained. "I'm going to have to ask you to leave." he then pointed to the door out of the building.

Bulma began to grumble, before walking by the three eyed man, who scoffed. "Can't be helped. Some people are just so weak, they need other means to call themselves warriors." he jabbed.

This angered Bulma even further as she left. Her friends felt bad for her, and hoped the next tournament would fare better for her.

When Bulma went outside, she ran into the others. "Bulma? What are you doing out here?"

Bulma growled as she sat down with them. "They disqualified me for pulling out the capsule I kept my suit in…"

Gohan nodded. "Well it wouldn't be fair to other contestants if someone pulled out a weapon."

Bulma just sulked. "Next time, I'll put the suit on before I enter that stupid ring…"

Gine then patted the girl's shoulder. "That's the spirit. What's another three years after all? Make sure no one sees you, or they will have to drag you out. After all, changing clothes in the middle of a tournament ground seems so inappropriate." Gine said with a teasing smirk.

"H-hey! That is not why I was disqualified!" Bulma shouted in embarrassment. She then looked around. "H-hey… is Roshi not with you?"

"Apparently he went to chase after girls." Puar explained.

This made Bulma scowl. "Ugh… that figures. Though at least he isn't a jerk like that hermit crane guy. Him and his students."

Speak of the devil, Shen himself walked over to the group. "My ears are burning. Someone talking about me?" he chuckled. "So, where is that idiot turtle?"

Bulma gave him a fierce glare. "Probably in the ocean. Maybe you should go jump in and see."

Shen however ignored her jab and smirked. "He probably ran back to that little island of his with his tail between his legs. I wouldn't be surprised, since all his students are so inept that they likely won't make it through the preliminaries."

Gine growled. "One of those students is my son!"

"Well then I feel sorry for you, that you have to have a son with a failure of a master."

Gohan stood up. "Don't count my grandson out just yet, Shen."

Shen raised a brow at this. "Well well, if it isn't Gohan. And with a family no less? I thought you were too busy hiding on a mountain for that. Honestly, I'm amazed that you of all people are still alive. Here I thought you'd die alone on that mountain, eating by some beast or falling off a ledge."

Gine gripped the edge of the table so tightly, it began to crack into splinters. "What your mouth! That man has been like a father to me!"

"And so what? Is that supposed to mean anything? He's a has-been. He and Ox King were great once, but that time is over. Honestly, why not just leave this failure of a team and come with me? We could certainly use you." Shen smirked as he looked down at her chest.

Bulma glared as she got up. "We aren't going to just listen to some idiot that wears a crane on his head, and thinks he's all that."

Shen's eyes went wide. "What did you say? How dare you, this is a symbol of my power, I'll have you know!"

Gine smirked. "Oh yes, you look real big and powerful with that goofy thing on" she mocked.

Shen scowled, before turning to Launch, who was being quiet the whole time. She was leaning against the table with her eyes closed. "And what about you? Are you awake or what?" He then went over and leaned towards her, getting a good look at her chest. He grinned a little at this. "Hello? You there?"

Launch then opened her eyes with a fierce scowl. She pulled out her machine gun, much to the horror of Bulma, Puar, Oolong and turtle, and to the shock of Gine, Gohan and Ox. "Can't a girl get some rest?!" she shouted as she fired at Shen.

But instead of getting shot, Shen began to effortlessly catch the bullets. Shen smirked as he held out the bullets in his hands before dropping them down on the ground. "Tell Roshi he can help his student's by getting ready for their funerals." he said smugly before walking off, much to the anger of the group.

Back in the preliminary trials, the rest of the group were going through their foes without issue. Roshi, dressed as Chun, couldn't help but notice how much stronger Chichi had gotten. Sure it wasn't seemingly as much as Goku, but Chichi had yet to show off her magical skills, as she wanted that to be a surprise for when the real tournament started.

When the three eyed student of Shen, Tien Shinhan, had taken his match, he moved so quickly, that most of the fighters there seemed to see him move, save for the turtle students. Goku was amazed, and actually grew excited to fight him.

Tien smirked at the turtle students, as if he was looking down on them. Yamcha glared at him, not liking the guy one bit.

Meanwhile, Krillin noticed Tien's little friend, chiaotzu, just looking at him. "Uh… what's your problem?"

chiaotzu then pointed at him. "Midget."

Krillin's eyes went wide at this, as he got angered. "H-hey! In case you haven't noticed, you shouldn't talk about someone being short!"

chiaotzu however ignored him. "Midget." he repeated. Tien then told him it was time to go, to which he followed close.

When it was Goku's turn, his friends were eager to see just how much stronger he had gotten. Goku's friends thought his opponent had no chance, only for Chun to realize it was King Chappa.

"I'm afraid Goku might have his work cut out for him. King Chappa had won a previous tournament, and didn't get hit once." Roshi Chun explained, much to the fear of his friends.

"B-but the tournament hadn't even started yet. Goku can't lose here." Chichi insisted.

"Well I can't imagine a worse first match." Jackie sighed.

Chapa looked down at Goku. "Hehe, it seems the fighters get younger every time. Don't worry, I'll try not to kill you."

Goku smiled at him as he got in a fighting stance. "Thanks." No one thought Goku's chances looked good.

However, Goku took everyone by surprise, as the second the match started, Goku immediately delivered a blow to Chapa's face, before following up with another strike. This time, Chapa managed to catch it. But Goku didn't relent from this, as he delivered several brutal kicks to Chapa's chest.

Chapa was now enraged, and so began to use his ultimate attack. The eight handed technique. Where he strikes so quickly, it looks as though he has eight arms. "It is time you learn why I am feared!" he roared as he rushed Goku.

But incredibly, Goku was able to dodge every strike, and knock one of Chapa's feet, making the former champion lose his balance and fall flat on his back. "Hehe! Shouldn't leave your feet open." the monkey boy exclaimed with a chuckle.

King Chapa's rage grew more and more, as in his eyes, he was being humiliated by a mere child. "YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR INSOLENCE!" he roared as he got to his feet, and went to punch Goku, only for the boy to lunge into the air, avoiding it. He went so fast, Chapa didn't see where he went at first.

Jackie had a look of concern. "The poor boy just made a mistake…"

Goku's friends looked at him in confusion. "What do you mean?" Chichi whimpered in fear for her crush.

Chapa smirked. "You are only delaying the inevitable hiding up there. Come down, and accept your punishment, boy!"

Goku jumped off the ceiling, lunging towards Chapa. Chapa believed he held the advantage, as he swung his fist to strike Goku. But then Goku let out a roar so powerful, it stopped his descent just above Chapa's fist, and he delivered a kick to the former champ's face, to the amazement and bewilderment of many who watched, including his friends. Chapa was knocked out of the ring, and into unconsciousness.

Roshi could see that Goku had learned a lot in the past three years. He began to wonder if Goku had surpassed him in strength. Chichi just gave the boy a hug. "That was amazing, Goku! You beat a former champion!" she cheered.

"Yeah, it was. But try not to show off all your tricks before the actual tournament." Krillin chuckled.

"Hehe, I won't! I'm saving my best techniques for when I'm up against the best fighters. Like all of you." Goku replied with a big smile on his face.

Yamcha just had a nervous look. "Great…"

When Jackie was ready to begin his fight, he began to wonder about Goku's new found strength. It was unreal. He had been around for over three hundred years, though it was possible Goku was already stronger than him. He seemed so distracted, his opponent grew impatient and charged at the old master, only for him to take him out in three blows.

This was only the beginning of the preliminaries however. But throughout it all, Goku and his friends dominated it. Tien and chiaotzu watched on as the turtle school fighters fought through. However, he saw them as beneath him, and felt his victory was assured.

The time soon came for a small recess, which Goku was excited about, as it meant they got to eat. When they got to the cafeteria, Roshi decided to eat with his students.

"So, the preliminaries are pretty tough this time, don't you think?" he asked.

Krillin just smirked. "Sure, for anyone but us maybe."

Chichi nodded with her friend. "Yeah, we have gotten so strong, we have been breezing through these fights."

Roshi was very upset by this. "Now listen up you two. It is the mark of a fool when someone thinks themselves invincible. If you do not consider the chance of failure, then victory will be snatched right from under you. There is no room for arrogance and pride in martial arts."

The two were shocked by his outburst. "Huh… you know, you kind of sound like master Roshi…" Chichi noted.

Yamcha smirked. "Yeah. A lot like him in fact." Yamcha could remember seeing Roshi, or Nam disguised as Roshi, in the last tournament. But still, his suspicions had returned as he looked at the old man. But then he gave a chuckle. "But that hair is the one thing that sets you apart from him."

Jackie gave a nervous chuckle. "Who, me? Of course I'm not Roshi. I'm just an old man imparting my wisdom to young fighters." he deflected. As this conversation was happening, Goku just showed more interest in his meal, not really paying the others any mind.

However, a commotion suddenly broke out, and it was caused by Tien threatening the cook. "You miserable slug! You expect me to eat this slop?! I expect a decent meal after so many hard fought battles!" he demanded.

Yamcha had enough of this guy. "Then why don't you go cook your own food?!" he shouted in anger.

Tien looked at the former bandit with a raised brow. "Hm? Oh, it's just you." he let go of the cook. "I saw how you fought. I have to say, you were pretty good. For an amateur I mean. You really think you are ready to go up against me?"

Yamcha gave him a nod. "Sure do."

Tien and Yamcha then both got into fighting stances, ready to duke it out. Jackie however got between them. "That's enough. This isn't the time, or the place, for you two to fight. If you do so here, you will both be disqualified from the tournament."

Tien stared at Jackie for a moment, but then got out of his fighting stance. He looked to Yamcha with an uninterested expression. "You should thank the old man for saving your life." he began to walk away. "chiaotzu, we're done here." chiaotzu then followed him.

When the fight was averted, Jackie began to console Yamcha, but before that could start, a familiar figure appeared behind him. "Greetings, Jackie Chun."

Jackie and Yamcha turned to the figure, and were surprised who it was. "Nam?" Roshi asked.

This made the others turn in surprise, before Goku and Chichi ran over to him. "Nam!" Chichi said with a smile.

Nam looked at her, returning the smile. "It is good to see you again Chichi. I can see you have gotten stronger since we last fought." he then turned his sights to Goku. "And Goku, I am indebted to you for saving my people." he spoke, remembering how Goku had destroyed the dam Giran and his people made, causing the drought that was killing his own people.

Krillin went over with a pleasantly surprised look. "Are you going to compete in the tournament?"

"Indeed. But now that my people are flourishing, I wish to fight to test my skills, and I am looking forward to my rematch against Chichi."

Chichi got excited. "I can't wait to show you what I learned!"

"As am I."

"And no matter what happens, we will still be friends, right?" Goku asked him with a smile.

Nam gave a small nod. "Yes." he then shook their hands, as they got ready for the second half of the elimination rounds.

As it went on, nearly all the competitors had been defeated. All of Roshi's students had managed to make it to the final rounds. Even Roshi himself in his disguise. However, their celebrations were cut short, as they found Nam in a critical state, courtesy of Tien.

Chichi had rushed over to the medic. "W-will he be alright?"

The medic looked up to the young girl. "He is hurt pretty bad, but I think he'll be alright."

Tien let out a scoff. "That's too bad. I should have hit him harder. But nobody is perfect. Well, at least he'll never fight in another tournament."

Goku glared at him for doing this to his friend. Goku was more determined than ever to defeat Tien. He fully intended to avenge Nam. As was Chichi and the others.

After the preliminaries ended, Goku and the others joined up with their friends. Making sure they all knew how the matches had gone, since they didn't have a chance to watch.

Ox King pulled his daughter into a massive hug. "I am so proud of you, Chichi!" he cheered.

Chichi hugged back. "Thanks, daddy. I can't wait for you to see what I can do."

"Well I'm not surprised. We all worked hard these last few years… at least you get to show it off…" Bulma grumbled.

Goku gave a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Bulma. Maybe after the tournament, we could spar and you can show me then."

This made Bulma smile back. A blush slowly spread across her face, as knowing Goku, that was probably how he would want to spend a date. "Thanks, Goku."

Gine smirked as she decided to ruin the mood for fun. "Just don't strip in front of my son so you can change into that suit of yours."

Bulma had a massive blush on her face. "THAT IS NOT HOW I GET IT ON!" Chichi couldn't help but snicker at this,

Krillin then looked around in confusion. "So… where's Roshi?"

"Knowing him, skirt chasing." Oolong responded.

"Hey!" Roshi protested as he walked in on the conversation. "If you must know, I was spying on the preliminaries. I wanted to see my students in action."

Gohan smirked. "I'm sure you had a very good view." Ox King chuckled at Gohan's words.

Roshi gave an amused look. "You can definitely say that. And I'm proud of my students."

Gine pouted. "You could have told us. I would have liked to watch my baby fight…"

"Hehe, maybe next time, Gine."

"Well maybe we should focus on now, and try to get to the arena before a crowd forms." Suggested Yamcha.

Oolong gave a smirk. "No worries. Launch knows how to work a crowd."

Launch gave a nod as she pulled out a gun and began firing in the air, gaining the attention of the crowd. "Alright people, move your butts! We're coming through!" she shouted, making the people get clear out of terror.

Everyone followed close behind, save for Roshi, Krillin, and Yamcha, who hung back out of embarrassment. Goku, Yamcha, Krillin and Chichi made their way into the main building to prepare with the other fighters. While the others found a spot to watch. Though Roshi seemed to mysteriously disappear again, with all of them, save for Gohan and Ox, left unaware he was once more in his disguise.

Goku was busy practicing for the tournament by walking on his hands… or he was just bored and goofing around. Chichi just laughed a bit as she watched him. She was glad he hadn't changed too much over the last three years. He was still that sweet, kind, and goofy boy she knew.

Yamcha and Krillin however, were busy talking, and hoped they didn't have to fight each other right at the start.

"Hehe, how pathetic. I almost feel sorry for you." came a voice. They turned, and saw it was Tien. "How do you do it? Surviving purely off luck? I would be ashamed to be as unskilled as you."

Yamcha glared back at Tien, but smirked. "You're the only one that's lucky, pal. You only got as far as you have because you and I haven't fought yet."

Tien gave an amused chuckle. "Poor Yamcha… so delusional. You actually think you have a chance. It's sad really."

Krillin and Yamcha grit their teeth in anger at Tien's words. Only for Krillin to see Chiaotzu was staring at him again. "What do you want this time?" Krillin asked in annoyance.

Once again, Chiaotzu pointed at Krillin. "Baldy." he said with an emotionless expression.

Once again Krillin grew angered by the taunting of the small pasty boy. "Hey! Looked in a mirror much?! You don't exactly have a long flowing mane yourself!"

"You're wrong." Chioatzu replied as he took his hat off, showing a small single strand of hair.

"ARE YOU KIDDING?! YOU ONLY HAVE A SINGLE HAIR ON YOUR HEAD!" Krillin's shouting drew the attention of Goku and Chichi.

"Better than none."

Tien had an embarrassed look as he put Chiaotzu's hat back on his head. "Chiaotzu, that's enough. You'll catch a cold if you don't keep your hat on." Chichi couldn't help but chuckle a little, thinking Tien was like a protective father.

Roshi meanwhile, felt sorry for Tien and Chiaotzu, as it was clear they were victims of Shen's teachings. He had hoped that deep down, it wouldn't be too late to save them from the path Shen had set them on.

During all this, the others outside were wondering where Roshi was. They had sent Puar and Oolong out to look for him, but they came back empty handed. Launch, who had reverted to her blue haired form, looked confused and concerned. "Do you think something happened to him?"

Ox then tried to reassure her. "I'm sure he is fine. This is master Roshi we are talking about."

"That's what worries me…" Gine sighed.

"Oh? Lost a turtle in the crowd?" came the voice of Shen as he appeared behind them again.

"Wow?! Where did you come from?!" Bulma shouted in shock.

"I was right behind Ox. You could hide a mountain behind his lard." Shen cackled. This made Ox growl in anger at the old man. "Now now, no need to be angry, Ox. It was a joke. Now, where is Roshi? I hope nothing happened to him." he said with a smirk.

Bulma grew enraged. "If that's some kind of thinly veiled threat, then it's terrible. You better not have done anything to Roshi."

"I can assure you, I have just as little idea where he is as you." the crane hermit insisted. "Tell you what, I could look for him for you." He offered, to the surprise of everyone.

Gohan and Ox looked at each other, and grew concerned. They hoped Shen didn't discover Roshi's identity, and reveal it. They knew Shen was not trustworthy, far from it in fact. But they only had to hope.

Baba meanwhile, was somewhere in the crowd, eager to see Chichi show her stuff after all the training they went through.

Meanwhile, the tournament announcer called everyone forward. Goku ran over, happy to see the announcer again, recognizing him from the last one. "Hey! It's good to see you again! I like your suit."

The announcer turned to Goku with a smile. "Hehe, you too. Glad you could make a return. Last tournament was pretty spectacular thanks to you guys. And thanks, glad to see the younger generation appreciate some style." he chuckled. He then cleared his throat and began going over who will fight who.

Little did they know, Tien was having Chiaotzu use his psychic abilities to rig the ballets, making it so Tien and Yamcha fight each other in the very first match. Yamcha smirked, thinking Tien wasn't going to get the chance to fight past the first match.

As this was going on, Chiaotzu rigged the ballets more, making it so he went up against Krillin. And, to the surprise of the team, Jackie would end up against Chichi in the second match. Leaving Goku with the last remaining fighter.

"Well Goku, that leaves you with number eight in the fourth round." the announcer spoke as he finished the listing.

Goku was confused. "But how can I be number eight if I haven't drawn my number yet?" he asked as he went over, and drew his. All that remained was the number eight of course. "Hey you were right! How did you know?"

The announcer had an awkward look. "Uh… lucky guess?"

Tien began laughing, as Roshi and his students had embarrassed looks. "Hahaha! Roshi sure knows how to pick his students!"

Chiaotzu tilted his head up at Tien. "What's wrong with wanting to pick his own number?"

A bead of sweat ran down Tien's face. "N-nothing Chiaotzu…"

The matches had all been decided at that moment. The first round would be Yamcha against Tien, the second would be Chichi against Jackie Chun, third being Krillin against Chiaotzu, and finally Goku against his opponent.

With the tournament quarterfinals about to start, everyone in the crowd was excited. Mr Turtle meanwhile was still looking for Roshi, despite everyone else having given up.

"Where could he be?" he sighed.

"Are you still looking for Roshi? Give it up, he is probably somewhere in the crowd." Bulma insisted.

"Yeah, it's his loss after Launch got us these great spots." Oolong chuckled.

Launch looked at them in confusion. "I did? What do you mean?"

Gohan placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it, dear."

Gine looked to Oolong. "Mind taking another look for Roshi? I don't want him to miss the chance to see his students in action."

"Are you kidding? The match is about to start!" protested Oolong, as he didn't want to miss anything.

Just then, Shen appeared once again. "Don't worry, I made sure the sponsor could help." he explained with a grin.

Gohan gave him a suspicious look. "Why does that sound ominous?"

Just then, an announcer came on, saying they were looking for someone's fat ugly grandfather, who resembles that of a turtle, making everyone realize what Shen did.

Ox growled as he clenched his fists. "How dare you insult and humiliate the master like that!"

Mr Turtle pouted. "It's not nice to call him a turtle like that…" he mumbled, feeling insulted.

Shen just chuckled. "Don't blame me. I just gave them an accurate description of Roshi. It's not my fault that most of his qualities are bad."

"Well you gotta point. The old man is creepy." Oolong noted.

"Oolong!" Scolded Launch, making said pig grumble, before the event finally began to start.

It was all so exciting. A hundred and eighty four fighters had come to participate in the tournament. And now, only eight remained. It was time to see who among them would become the world martial arts champion.

The first fight was between Yamcha and Tien, as the two stepped out of the ring. Yamcha smirked at Tien. "Ready to lose, three eyes?"

"Funny, I was going to say the same." Tien remarked.

The two of them stepped onto the arena, as the announcer introduced them to the crowd. Bulma smiled seeing her friend. "Go Yamcha! You can do it!" she called out.

Yamcha smiled and gave her a small wave.

Tien scoffed. "You sure you should be paying more attention to your girlfriend?"

Yamcha blushed. "For your information, she is just a friend. And she already has her eyes on someone else."

"How sweet." Tien chuckled as they both got into a fighting stance. The gong then ringed, letting them know to start.

Shen smirked, as he knew Tien couldn't possibly lose. Yancga then made the first move as he charged in and went to deliver a flying kick. Tien managed to block it, and went for a jab, but Yamcha had dodged out of the way in the knick of time. Tien let out a roar as he went on the offense, only for Yamcha to block and dodge all of them. Soon, the two began to trade blows, with neither managing to hit their mark.

The two seemed to be equally matched, as neither seemed to hold the advantage, much to the frustration of Tien, as he expected Yamcha to be some no talent idiot. Even as the two leapt into the air, Yamcha managed a harsh blow that knocked Tien down to the ground.

Yamcha was starting to get nervous as the two stared each other down. 'This guy is relentless… at least the crowd seems to be having some fun… someone has to I guess…'

Tien was having similar thoughts about Yamcha. 'S he wasn't just another bragard. He actually has some skill. I might actually get a bit of a workout.'

Yamcha grit his teeth. "It's time I show you my wolf fang blowing wind technique!" he roared.

This made Tien smirk. "Then show me." he urged. He was ready to see what he could do.

The two of them got ready. Yamcha's friends were nervous, while Shen was just enjoying the show, excited to see Tien crush one of Roshi's students. The two fighters charged each other, as Yamcha's stance made him look like a charging wolf, as they began to trade blows one by one. Yamcha managed to dodge Tien's jab, got behind him and grabbed him by the arm with the strength of a wolf's jaw.

Tien was surprised by this as Yamcha grabbed up Tien's arm more and more, before going to strike the three eyed man's face. Tien just barely managed to dodge, as he had a cut along his face. Tien then did the same, leaving a similar injury. They then went back to trading blows as Yamcha's friends got anxious.

"Come on Yamcha! You can do it!" Cheered Puar.

Bulma began punching at the air in frustration. "Hit! Hit! I said hit!" she roared as she accidently hit Oolong. With her increased strength from all her training, the pig slammed into the ground with a loud thud.

Oolong picked himself off the ground. "Ugh… I'm sure whoever you would have fought in the preliminaries is thankful he never had to take one of your punches…" he groaned.

Launch let out a giggle. "She really has improved a lot."

Gohan turned to Launch. "Have you ever considered training?"

"Oh my! No, of course not. I couldn't hurt a fly…" Launch explained nervously.

Gohan raised a brow, remembering earlier. "Um… well martial arts can be more than just about fighting. It can be about protecting, and strengthening one's mind."

Launch thought about it for a second. "W-well… I'll give it some thought…"

Meanwhile as they had this talk, Shen was getting infuriated. He thought Tien would have won by now. And yet, Yamcha was still standing.

Roshi on the other hand was amazed by the progress Yamcha had made. He was glad Bulma convinced him to take Yamcha as a student. Now that he thought of it, Bulma was also likely the motivation behind this growth. The two had become close friends. Motivating each other to get stronger, as Roshi remembered how much work Bulma put into her training, despite him forcing her into it.

Yamcha once again went for an aerial attack, but Tien anticipated it, as they both traded blows to the chest. They both went flying, and when they recovered, they were on the brink of exhaustion. They stared each other down, as the crowd were on their edge of their none existent seats.

Tien gave Yamcha a smirk. "Looks like you should rename that technique to wolf fang blowing hot air." he remarked.

"Fine, let me put it another way." Yamcha scowled as he once more jumped into the air. This time in front of the bright sun. Tien could barely see him. And when he did, it looked more like a wolf than it did Yamcha. Yamcha flew downward and delivered a flurry of kicks to Tien's chest, sending the three eyed fighter flying.

The crowd and his friends all began to cheer. "Go Yamcha! That'll show him!" Bulma called out. Gohan however, knew this was far from over. He had a sinking feeling that this may yet turn.

Yamcha smirked at Tien, who was on the floor, and had yet to recover. "What's wrong? I can't understand pain." Yamcha remarked.

Chiaotzu watched on with a blank expression, something that caught the eye of Krillin. "Man, if that's how you show concern for your friend, I wonder what you'd look like if he was hit by a bus."

"He does seem oddly calm…" Chichi noted, while Goku focused on the fight.

Chiaotzu looked at the two of them, and slowly gave them a small creepy smile. Something that made them feel uneasy.

Back at the battle, Tien began to pick himself up, and started to laugh, much to Yamcha's confusion. "HAHAHA! I have to say, you certainly make up for your lack of skills with how amusing you are! But I gotta admit, your one liners are a little much. Kind of over the top actually."

Yamcha grit his teeth. "How about I show you over the top!" he growled as he did the same attack again.

This time, Tien was ready for it. He began to draw on all his strength and flex his muscles to be as hard as possible, causing his skin to turn red from the strain. But it paid off, as he powered through Yamcha's attack. When it was over, Tien stood tall without a scratch, much to the horror of Yamcha. "Thanks for the massage. But I'm pretty sure we should be fighting."

"T-there's no way… that's impossible…" Yamcha muttered.

"There is no such thing as impossible." Tien explained as he attacked. Yamcha stood no chance now, as Tien began to beat him like a sandbag. He was brutal and calculated.

Goku, Krillin and Chichi looked on in worry, wishing they could do something. But they had no choice but to sit idly by.

She gave a smirk, glad to see things finally going the way they should. Tien stepped towards Yamcha, who was on the ground clutching his stomach. "I thought you said you couldn't understand pain. You sound fluent."

Yamcha looked at him with a beaten and bloody glare. "I… I won't give up… I've worked too hard… and trained too long… to lose this fight…" he growled as he went to make one last stand, only for Tien to punch him right in the stomach, and follow up with a kick to the face, sending Yamcha flying.

"Yamcha!" Bulma shouted in concern.

"Oh no!" Puar whimpered.

Gine trembled a little. This reminded her of the brutality of her people. Especially from those who were bored, and liked to "play" with their enemies before having the decency of killing them.

Tien had a smug look on his face as he looked at Yamcha. "What's wrong? Can't you do better than that?"

Yamcha tried to get to his feet. When it looked like he couldn't, he somehow managed to do so. "Hehe… looks like I got my second wind… and it's blowing like a hurricane." he said confidently, as he got into a familiar stance.

Krillin raised a brow. "What's he doing?"

Chichi squinted, as she felt like it was familiar. "Wait… is that?"

Goku had an excited look. "The kamehameha!"

"What?!" Jackie said in shock. 'Yamcha must have gotten a bad blow to the head. He can't honestly think he can handle the kamehameha…'

Yamcha then slowly began to focus his energy. "Kame…"

Shen glared as he didn't like the looks of this. That was Roshi's signature technique. He was wondering when Yamcha could have learned that.

"Hame…"

Tien scowled. "Go ahead. It's your own funeral." he clearly had something up his non-existent sleeves, but Yamcha didn't care at this point.

Just then, a ball of ki built up in Yamcha's hand. "HAAAAAA!" He then fired the wave right at his opponent, causing a flash of blue light.

Tien stood his ground, and brought his hands together, as he gathered his energy. Just as the kamehameha wave was about to hit him, he let out a powerful shout that sent the attack right back at Yamcha, much to everyone's shock.

Yamcha jumped out of the way, causing it to hit behind the crowd in a massive explosion. There was panic from the people that were almost hit, as Yamcha looked down while in the air. "H-how did he do that? Was Roshi holding out on me?"

"YAMCHA, LOOK OUT! Called out Goku. But it was too late.

Tien was right behind Yamcha, and delivered another kick, causing Yamcha to fall to the ground hard, and knocking him out. But… Tien wasn't done. As he flew down at full force, and slammed his knee on Yamcha's leg, snapping it in half.

Everyone was horrified by the sheer brutality, as Yamcha's leg was completely broken and bent backwards. Gine trembled, as it was exactly like some of the more brutal warriors of her people.

The announcer looked on, trembling. "I always get the psychos on my shift…" he whimpered as he looked over Yamcha. He shook him to see if he was alright. "Y-you okay Yamcha?"

Tien gave a scoff. "It's pretty obvious he is unconscious. Just give me the win."

The announcer gulped and proclaimed Tien the winner, before telling one of the staff to get an ambulance.

Puar however flew over in tears, lamenting on how this wasn't supposed to happen, and turned into a magic carpet, and took Yamcha to the hospital.

Bulma turned to her friends. "I'll go with Puar to make sure she gets him there quickly."

"I'll come with you." Launch volunteered, before the two blue haired girls ran after Puar.

Goku looked to Tien with an expression of rage. "You didn't have to break his leg. You did it just to be mean."

"Either way, I won." Tien replied with a chuckle. "A real tough break." he remarked as he left.

Goku clenched his fist in anger. "I won't let you win this tournament."

Tien looked at him smugly. "You can vilify me if it makes you feel better. But it doesn't change the fact I'm going to win."

Goku glared more as he left. Shen looked on in amusement. He took great pleasure in seeing one of Rochi's students crippled. Tien meanwhile had to admit, Yamcha was stronger then expected, but he believed that out of all of Roshi's students, he was the strongest. After all, the others were three children.

That was the end of the day, as the tournament was put on hold for tomorrow. It would be Chichi against Jackie Chun.

The gang all went to visit Yamcha in the hospital. He looked down, disappointed in himself. "Sorry I let you all down…"

"Don't talk like that, you did your best." Bulma assured. "That's all that really counts in the end."

Goku then went over to his friend. "Don't worry, Yamcha. I'll make Tien pay."

"No Goku! It's not worth it." Yamcha objected. "He is ruthless."

"I know." Goku nodded with a smirk.

"We should probably let him rest." Gine suggested.

Gohan nodded in agreement. "If he wants to get back on his feet any time soon, he will need to rest to regain his strength."

Everyone nodded, as they began to leave. Puar however stayed behind, choosing to remain with Yamcha.

The next day, the time for the next round in the tournament had begun. Baba was in the crowd, waiting to see Chichi's fight with her brother. She was so excited, she didn't want to use her crystal ball to see how it ended, just so it wouldn't ruin the suspense.

Roshi walked up to the main building and looked at Chichi. "Feeling anxious?"

"No. I'm excited!" she said with a grin.

"Well, don't let that lead to mistakes." he informed her as they got to the arena.

Ox King was nervous. He wasn't sure who he should root for. His daughter, or his master. Though he decided on his daughter, due to how much he loved her, and it would be less suspicious. "You can do it, sweetie!" he called out as she got on the arena.

The announcer walked to the center. "Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for the second round of the quarter finals! We have the young Chichi, who we saw make it in the last tournament in the semi finals! And we also have the previous champion, Jackie Chun! Let's see them put on a good show!" The crowd began to cheer loudly.

"Go Chichi! Show him who's boss!" Bulma called out for her friend.

"Yeah! Show Jackie who's boss!" Oolong agreed.

Gohan turned to his friend. "How do you think this will go for her?"

"I'm not sure… I want her to win… but…" Ox sighed.

"He believes he has to prevent that." Gohan finished with a nod. "He believes he is doing the right thing. But I wonder if he might be wrong, and is simply intervening where he doesn't need to."

"Now! Let the match begin!" Shouted the announcer, as the two fighters readied themselves.

Chichi charged towards Jackie, delivering a hard kick towards the man, but the old master blocked it. He continued to avoid her attacks, taking notes that she definitely seemed to improve while she was away. But it didn't seem to be as drastic as Goku. He soon began to deliver his own attacks, sending out strong chops and punches to her. Chichi immediately went on the defensive, letting Jackie have his go at her.

What Jackie didn't realize was that Chichi was reading his movements. And with every attack he threw, she was getting a better idea of how he fought.

"You certainly are strong, Chichi. But I'm afraid you won't be winning this fight." Jackie told her.

A smirk then came across Chichi's face. "You sure about that?" she asked with a grin as suddenly, her hands lit on fire as she called on her spirit beasts power. Roshi's eyes went wide, as the young girl charged towards her like a raging bull.

Chichi began throwing flaming punches and kicks, laced and enhanced with magical energy. It was like Jackie was fighting a different person at this point. He couldn't understand it. Where did this come from? It wasn't coming from her ki, as he could sense it was still steady. So where did she even learn something like this? Now he was the one on the defensive.

Ox King was certainly surprised as he watched. "W-wow… is that really Chichi…" he asked in shock.

Gohan began to stroke his mustache. "Now where did she pick up something like that? It looks like magic to me."

"Magic?" Gine asked.

"Yes. It is different from ki. Ki is more internal spiritual energy, while magic is external. Most martial artists learn to harness their internal energy, to enhance their strength and speed, as well as use powerful techniques such as the kamehameha wave." Gohan explained. "But there are some, such as witches, wizards and magicians who learn to harness external energy, allowing them to perform powerful spells, or even use psychic abilities, even if you have no natural affinity for it."

"But where could Chichi have learned to harness magic and use it with her fighting skills?" Gine asked.

"That, I don't know."

Shen and his students were equally shocked. They never imagined someone like Roshi would have one of his students learn something like this. Shen didn't even know Roshi knew anything like this.

Goku meanwhile was awestruck. He couldn't take his eyes off Chichi as he watched her fight. He had no idea she had this up her sleeve. It made him excited to face her as he bounced up and down.

Krillin looked at Goku, feeling like this was the closest thing to falling in love Goku could get. "Jeez… Bulma has her work cut out for her…" he mumbled.

Bulma meanwhile was amazed. She never actually got to see Chichi use magic in action. She just knew what she was told when she visited her and Baba. But this was something else.

Jackie was trying to figure out what could have happened. When he had a second to catch his breath, he saw a familiar figure on a crystal ball. The second she saw him looking at her, she gave a smirk before blowing a raspberry at him.

Jackie had a look of suspicion on his face. "Baba… I should have known…" he mumbled. Of course his sister would be up to this. Well it didn't change the fact he needed to remain in the arena, and so he tried to fight back.

Jackie began to use every bit of strength he had, as he tried to throw his own punches. But Chichi gave back even harder. Then to the surprise of Jackie, she threw her hands forward, before tossing them into the air, causing Jackie to be thrown as well, due to Chichi learning the telekinesis she learned from Baba.

"E-eh?! N-not good!" Jackie screeched. "I gotta get back in!" He then began to try and charge up his kamehameha wave to fly back in, like with his fight against Goku. But then, he saw a blue energy begin to form in Chichi's hands. "Y-you gotta be kidding me…" he lamented. It took him fifty years to develop this technique. And yet it seems all his pupils could learn it without issue. There was no justice in the world…

"Kame… Hame… HA!" Roared Chichi as she fired her kamehameha wave at Jackie, pushing him further out of bounds, before he landed out of the ring.

Baba was the first to cheer, which the crowd soon followed. She hadn't felt this young in hundreds of years, seeing her brother get his wrinkly butt handed to him like that thanks to her own teachings. She was definitely going to rub it in his face later.

The announcer soon came to his senses. "L-ladies and gentlemen, by ringout, Jackie Chun has been defeated, and the winner is Chichi!"

Ox and Gohan were completely taken aback at this. "I think your daughter has come a long way, Ox…"

"Y-yeah… I've never been so proud." Ox responded with a loving smile.

Goku then ran into the ring and hugged Chichi. "That was amazing Chichi! You beat Jackie Chun!" he cheered.

Chichi smiled as she hugged back. "Thank you, Goku. I'm glad you could watch."

Bulma grumbled a little in jealousy. If she had gotten to fight, she would probably be the one hugging Goku right now.

Gohan and Ox went to where Roshi landed, and saw him nursing his sores. "Are you alright, master?" Ox asked as he helped him up.

Roshi let out a sigh. "I'll be fine. My pride is the only thing that's broken…"

Gohan let out a small chuckle. "I'm not surprised, given how she seemed to overpower you. But where could she have learned something like that?"

"Baba. She was in the crowd. And that smug look she had told me everything." Roshi explained with a grumble.

"Huh… that must have something to do with the bill Baba sent me, saying it was for… damages…" Ox thought out loud.

"What?!" Roshi shouted in shock. "And you didn't think to tell me?!"

"I didn't think it meant anything important…"

Gohan patted his friend's back. "What's done is done. Nothing we can do. Still, it's amazing how she was able to call on such power."

"Well… I suppose you are right…" Roshi relented. "She has the potential to grow strong with her magical abilities… I'm just worried this win might go to her head…"

"If it does, she will just have to learn on her own what kind of trouble that brings." Gohan explained. "We should get back. Try to nurse your sores, Roshi." he and Ox then went back to the others.

Roshi let out a sigh. He figured he might as well get back to the arena as well. When he did, Chichi and Goku were still celebrating her win, before they had to continue the tournament.

The announcer went over to them. "I hate to ruin the mood, you two. But we need to start the next fight."

Chichi blushed hard. "S-sorry. We'll move." she said as she and Goku got off the stage, while Krillin and Chiaotzu got on.

Krillin was definitely eager to get some revenge on him, for all the insults that were thrown his way.

Shin smirked. "The result will be the same as with Yamcha."

Bulma glared. "That's what you think. Krillin is going to beat that runt!"

"It's so sad when they become delusional…" Shin sighed.

Tien was watching intently. He didn't have a doubt Chiaotzu would win. Krillin however was uneasy with the way his opponent stared at him. Once the match started, Krillin was waiting for Chiaotzu to make the first move. He wasn't expecting him to start floating however. At incredible speed, he began zooming around and knocking Krillin aside.

Gohan sighed. "It seems Shen taught him the flying technique."

"Wait, so… humans can fly…" Gine mumbled. Of course she, like other saiyan's, were capable of it. Goku just never learned. She neglected to teach him because she thought it was impossible for humans to do so, and that it would draw attention.

"It is a crane school technique, where one uses their ki to levitate them into the air." Gohan explained.

"Well that's just great. Must make him save money on air flight…" Oolong grumbled. This was going to make it impossible for Krillin to win by ring out.

However, Chiaotzu's eyes went wide when Krillin somehow disappeared into thin air. He wasn't as well trained in martial arts like Tien. His focus was more on his telepathic abilities and ki attacks.

"Chiaotzu! Left!" Tien shouted.

Chiaotzu began to panic, as he tried to remember his left from his right looking at his hands. He couldn't figure it out in time as Krillin managed a blow, chasing after his opponent as the two traded attack after attack. Krillin held the advantage with raw strength, leaving Chiaotzu only able to dodge and block as best he could. It looked like Krillin was about to cause him to fall out of the ring, only to fly into the air.

Jackie sighed. "Such a crane style strategy. Fly away when things get rough." he scoffed.

Tien glared. "And just what do you know about my master and his teachings?"

"More than you realize, my boy. For instance, Shen is a cruel and heartless man, who knows nothing about what martial arts was made for." Jackie explained. Tien scoffed again, refusing to listen to this old man speak in such a way about his master.

Krillin was trying to think of a way to attack. If he jumped, he could risk being knocked out of the ring. So that was a no go.

Chiaotzu smiled at Krillin. "I have a surprise for you." he then held out his hand, and the tip of his finger began to shine.

Shen and Tien smirked at this, while Chichi, Bulma and Goku instantly recognized it. Their eyes went wide, thinking it had to be a mistake.

"Dodon ray!" Chiaotzu called out as he fired the beam. Krillin just barely managed to dodge.

"No way… it's just like…" Bulma couldn't bring herself to finish that thought, remembering how she almost thought Goku died from that attack. Chichi was in the same state as her.

Goku couldn't believe his eyes. It really was the same attack. "That's the same attack Tao had…"

Tien immediately turned to Goku at the mention of Tau. "What did you say? Who also has that technique?"

"Mercenary Tao. It was the same attack he used before I defeated him." Goku answered.

"LIAR!" Shouted Tien. "There is no way you could have beaten Tao!"

"It's the truth. He murdered my friend's father."

"Yeah. So Goku had to stop him. "Chichi nodded.

Tien looked down at this. "He… he was a great man… When did it happen?" Tao was like a second mentor to him.

"Three years ago." Goku answered.

Tien couldn't believe this. Tao was one of the greatest warriors he ever knew. And yet… Goku was saying he defeated Tao. He wanted to think it was a lie, or that he was mistaken or something.

Goku glared at Tien. "You got a problem?"

This made Tien growl as he walked off. Jackie turned to Goku. "Did you really kill Tao?"

"Yeah. Why does everyone keep asking me that?" Goku asked in confusion.

"Me and Bulma were there. We saw it happen." Chichi explained. "It happened like he said."

Jackie sighed. He wished for once Goku was lying. "Goku, the man you killed… is the brother of Shen…"

Both Goku and Chichi were shocked at this. Neither of them ever expected this, as Tao and Shen looked nothing alike. Though… neither did Roshi and Baba.

Back at the fight, Krillin kept dodging Chiaotzu's dodon ray, making sure not a single one hit him. He was trying to figure out an idea to counter.

Launch shouted to Krillin. "GET OUT OF THERE! YOU ARE GOING TO GET KILLED!"

Shen smirked. "That's right. If you value his life, make him quit."

Bulma glared at him. But this time, he was right. "Krillin, come on! It's not worth your life!" She remembered how Goku almost died from that attack. And Krillin didn't have a dragon ball to protect him, so his chances were even worse.

The next dodon kicked up so much dust, it blew into the crowds faces. It caused Launch to sniffle a bit, before sneezing, and reverting to her blonde form. Oolong saw this and grew terrified.

Launch slammed her foot onto the edge of the stands. "Hey cue ball, show some backbone already! You can beat that twerp!" she cheered, as she wanted to see Krillin win.

Krillin avoided more of the attacks, all while he was thinking of a solution. He was actually doing a good job, as he was rolled up into a ball, and heading towards the edge of the stage. But just as it looked like he was about to fall out, he grabbed onto the edge and jumped out of the way, much to Shen's frustration.

The two fighters stared each other down, with Chiatozu laughing. Krillin looked around the arena trying to think of something. But then, his eyes landed on Chichi and Goku, and suddenly, a plan came to mind. Once again, he disappeared.

Like before, Chiatozu began to panic, and desperately tried to remember his left from his right. He began bouncing around the arena, shouting left and right repeatedly.

Chiaotzu began to grow confused, and began to lower down, giving Krillin a chance to strike. Chiaotzu began to fall, and Krillin was about to strike. But Chiaotzu managed to fly away at the last second.

Meanwhile in the crowd, Tien began to make his way through, trying to get to Shen. "Master Shen! I have something you need to hear!"

Shen grew annoyed at the distraction. "Can it wait? I'm trying to watch the match." Goku's friends turned to the two, hearing their conversation.

Krillin was really wishing he had a way to attack Chiaotzu. "If only I had the kamehameha wave… wait… if Yamcha and Chichi could use it…" an idea came to Krillin. Roshi's eyes went wide as he saw what Krillin was doing.

Meanwhile, Shen was in a rage. "You are telling me that my little brother Tao was killed by one of Roshi's worthless students?!"

"Y-yes… but I assume it had to be an accident…" Tien explained.

"Killing Tao is no accident! It should be impossible! Especially for one of Roshi's brats."

Gohan and Ox's eyes went wide, hearing that Tao was killed, and by one of Roshi's students no less. Bulma however was surprised to hear that Tao was Shin's brother. "No way… Tao is his brother?"

"You know who Tao is?" Gohan asked in surprise.

"Y-yeah… Goku defeated him three years ago." she nodded, making Gohan feel like he might have a heart attack.

"Oh Goku…" he said in fear of what may happen to Goku now.

Jackie looked at the crowd mournfully. "I fear now She won't be satisfied with just winning… he wants Roshi's students dead…"

Chichi and Goku looked on in shock, as they were worried it was because Goku killed Tao.

Chiatozu and Krillin both began charging their attacks. Krillin was preparing to fire his first real kamehameha wave. "Kame… hame…"

Jackie's eyes went wide seeing this. "Krillin stop! You aren't ready! The kamehameha is an advanced technique!"

Krillin didn't listen however. He continued to prepare his attack. Chiatozu then fired. "Dodon ray!" he shouted as the beam shot towards Krillin. But then he timed it perfectly as he jumped up, when the dodon made a massive explosion.

When it cleared, Chiaotzu had a confused look. "He's… gone?"

Just then Krillin appeared behind him. "Right here!" he shouted, gaining his opponent's attention. "HA!" he roared, firing his own beam at Chiaotzu.

Roshi had a look of shock seeing his final pupil pull it off. It was official, he wasted fifty years developing such a simple attack. He felt… humiliated at this fact.

Chiaotzu began to spin out of control as he went flying out of the arena. Tien called out to him in concern. "Chiaotzu!" he shouted, as his friend looked like he was going to lose.

He managed to just barely stop himself. He was having a hard time flying though, as that attack had taken a lot out of him. Though that didn't stop Krillin from getting frustrated. "Come on, even after all that?"

Chiaotzu had just barely managed to get back to the arena, panting heavily as he was definitely not going to be able to fly too high from now on.

Tien couldn't believe what he was seeing. He was amazed that a student or Roshi could be this skilled. Chiaotzu was now going to finish this. "It's rare for me to use it. But now I'm going to use my special technique." he said as he took off his hat. Tien and Shen were now confident that Chiaotzu would win.

Krillin was left confused however. "Special?" he however didn;t plan on waiting however as he went to attack. But chiaotzu dodged as he then began to act as a human missile, spinning and ramming into Krillin. When he tried to do the same, he ended up hurting his head.

And when he dodged the attack and Chiaotzu hit the ground, he ended up breaking through the ring. Everyone was surprised at how hard headed he was. Krillin however decided to catch him instead of dodging, much to Shen's infuriation. Chiaotzu pushed Krillin back by quite a bit, but fell short just as he was at the edge.

"You'll need something better than that to defeat me." Krillin said confidently. Tien was convinced Krillin was just lucky, even as the turtle student charged in and once again began overpowering Chiaotzu with blow after blow.

"Krillin might actually win this." Chichi said in amazement.

Goku nodded as he began to cheer his friend on. "Go get him Krillin!"

"You can do it!" Bulma shouted.

"Master Roshi really taught him well." Ox said with a smile.

"I can't wait to see how my little Goku does." Gine said excitedly. She was sure Goku would win no matter what was thrown at him.

As Krillin was charging to make his final push, Chiaotzu had enough as he used his psychic abilities. Krillin felt a rush of pain enter his stomach making him stop dead in his tracks. Everyone was getting annoyed, wondering how many special attacks Chiaotzu had, while Shen smirked, mentally telling Chiaotzu to kill Krillin as revenge.

"Get up Krillin! You can't let him beat you!" Goku shouted.

Shen scoffed. "Your words won't help him. Just know that his death is on your hands for the death of Tao!" Shen couldn't help how similar Tao and Krillin were. Headstrong and impatient. He honestly wished he could have treated his brother more like a student then a friend to fix that. But now… he is gone. And the last time they spoke was in anger. Goku destroyed any chance they had to make amends. And for that, Shen vowed to make him suffer.

Krillin tried to think of a way out of this as Chiaotzu kept kicking him. He was confused why it was only kicks, only for a realization to hit him. Chioatzu needed his hands for this ability, as he saw them give a faint glow. "You think you're clever huh?"

"I'm smart enough to know you're stalling." Chiaotzu said smugly as he was ready to end this.

"Then what's three plus four?" Krillin asked, putting his plan into motion. Chiaotzu stopped in his tracks, as he tried to think. "Come on, that's an easy one. You have to know that." he teased.

Chiaotzu fell right into his trap as he used his fingers to count, allowing Krillin to get free. "Um… one… three… two…"

"Wrong! Seven!" Krillin shouted, making Chiaotzu's eyes go wide in shock at getting it wrong, not able to notice that Krillin charged and delivered a strong punch to Chaiotzu's stomach, knocking the wind out of him.

When Chaiotzu tried to use the ability again, Krillin began shouting multiple math problems, causing Chiatozu to get confused, unable to do anything as Krillin then knocked him out of the ring, and into unconsciousness. Tien and Shen were shocked at this.

"Hehe, pretty clever." Gine chuckled.

"He is definitely a smart boy." Gohan nodded.

"Way to go, baldy!" Launch cheered in celebration

Goku and Chichi went over to him. "That was some quick thinking Krillin." Chichi congratulated.

Krillin rubbed the back of his head. "Hehe, thanks."

While Tien was lamenting the loss of his friend's match, Shen began to lose it. "D-damn it Chioatzu! How could you fail me?!" he roared. He couldn't believe he lost because of mathematics.

The announcer then spoke up. "Well wasn't that something, folks? But now the time has come for the final quarter finals match before retiring for the day!"

Goku turned to Krillin. "Looks like it's my turn."

"Alright, good luck Goku." Krillin nodded, before leaving the ring.

Chichi gave him one last hug. "Good luck."

"Thanks, Chichi." Goku smiled as he hugged back, before she left and followed Krillin.

The announcer then spoke as he gestured to Goku. "For those of you who came three years ago, Goku had made it to the finals of the previous tournament, and showed a great amount of skill. So it's great to see him make a return. And as for his opponent, we have a star who had gained a following in the last year. Be it in the ring, or on the big screen! Give it up for Pomput!" he shouted as he gestured to the entrance of the arena…. Only for no one to come. "Uh… Pomput?"

However, instead of going in through the traditional way, Pomput decided to make one of his movie entrances, by jumping off the roof of the main building and landing in the ring, before tossing his gym robe aside. He then took a pose for the fans, as many of the girls began to cheer.

Jackie just deadpanned. "What a show off…"

"He's acting like he is here to sign autographs…" Krillin nodded.

In the crowd, Tien just smirked. "Well I'm sure he could win… if he had a stunt double." he remarked, making Shen laugh.

Oolong meanwhile rolled his eyes. "Feels like he should be called Pompous instead."

"Yeah, is he here to fight or just to look good?" Gine asked in annoyance. It actually reminded her of the Ginyu force… except they actually had the strength and skill to go with the showy nonsense.

Bulma however recognized him. "Well, he is a movie star."

"Are you a fan of his?" Ox asked.

"Kind of… I saw one or two of his movies, but I didn't have time to see the rest since I was always so busy training or working on my suit." she admitted. "But I'm rooting for Goku." she stated with a proud tone.

Pomput looked at Goku. "You should back out now while you still can." he suggested in an arrogant tone. Goku didn't say anything, and so Pomput decided to throw a punch, stopping in front of Goku's face. But Goku didn't even flinch. Pomput just smirked. "What's wrong? Scared stiff or was it too fast for you to see?"

Goku just raised a brow in confusion, as it didn't seem that fast. "What do you mean? Are you stretching and punching? I couldn't tell."

"What?!" This threw Pomput off for a second, but then just chuckled, thinking Goku was trying to put on a brave face. "Fine, let me demonstrate to you why you should be afraid when we fight."

Krillin deadpanned. "He's talking like he's in a movie…"

"A bad one too…" Chichi said awkwardly.

The announcer then walked off the arena. "Alright, let the match begin!"

Pomput raised up three fingers. "I'll be generous, and give you thirty seconds of my precious time before I win." he mocked as he got into a stance. "Now remember. My hair is off limits. So is my back, I just got it waxed." he informed, before charging at Goku.

He threw a punch, expecting an easy win, only for Goku to grab his arm, and strike him in the chest at incredible speed. Pomput's eyes went wide, as he suddenly felt dizzy. He made a few clumsy steps away from Goku, before falling flap, losing consciousness.

Many of the girls in the audience were devastated, seeing Pomput lose, and so easily at that. The announcer immediately named Goku the winner. "Ladies and gentlemen! Goku has won the match with a single blow! Maybe Pomput will do better at the box office!"

Tien looked at Goku with a fierce look. "No, it wasn't one blow… I could see at least three attacks from Goku's elbow… he is no ordinary fighter, it seems…"

Shen nodded. "Indeed… there isn't a doubt in my mind anymore. He really did kill my brother." he growled through gritted teeth. He was going to have his revenge.

Bulma raised a brow. "Well that was anticlimactic… he was way stronger in the movies…"

Gohan shook his head. "That is only because Goku has grown so much stronger. Compared to a normal person, Pomput would definitely be considered powerful. But Goku and his friends, as well as Shen's students, are anything but…"

"Goku certainly takes after his father, though." Gine mused.

Bulma looked at her. "So Goku's father was a fighter, too?"

Gine gave a small nod. "One of the best."

"Well I can see where the kid gets it from then." Oolong noted.

After that, the tournament was put on hold for the rest of the day as the day had drawn to a close. The audience began to pour out of the stadium, while Goku and his friends all paid Yamcha a visit in the hospital to tell him how the fights went, as he was happy to hear their victory.

Shen meanwhile was trying to teach Chiaotzu math, so his screw up against Krillin never happens again. Later that night when everyone had gone to sleep, Tien heard his master wake up, and began sneaking out of the room. His curiosity got the better of him as he followed. He saw that Shen, dressed as a ninja, began making his way towards the hotel Goku was staying at.

The crane master slowly tried to break in, and made his way to Goku, prepared to kill him to avenge his brother. But when he went to strike, Goku moved in his sleep. "Hmm… huh?" Goku mumbled as he woke up. His eyes went wide as he let out a yelp seeing Shen, which woke up Roshi and Krillin as they began to get up from their beds.

Krillin saw Shen and gasped. "Who's that?!" he shrieked, as Shen began to make a break for it.

"Wait… your…" Roshi mumbled as he recognized him.

Goku chased after Shen as he jumped down from the balcony. Krillin followed soon after.

They ended up losing track of Shen, as Krillin caught up. "Goku, who was that? A ninja?" As soon as he asked that question, Shen attempted to strike again, only for the boys to dodge.

He knocked Krillin away, and focused his sight on Goku. When he had his back turned to Krillin, said boy grabbed him from behind, only to be thrown off, taking the mask off Shen and revealing his face.

Goku's eyes went wide at this. "Hey, you're the… the crane hermit. Why did you attack me?"

Shen growled. "Isn't it obvious? You murder my brother!"

"He attacked me first. I just defended myself."

"I DON'T CARE! All that matters is he is dead and you are the one responsible." She growled. The two got into fighting stances.

Goku then had an idea. "Hey Krillin, remember the game Roshi taught us?"

Krillin nodded. "Right. You're it!"

Shen didn't care for this prattling as he and Goku jumped into the air, ready to strike, only for Tien to stop them both.

When they landed, Shen looked at his student. "Tien Shinhan! What do you think you are doing?"

"Forgive me master, but I couldn't let you kill Goku." Tien explained. "I want to avenge your brother as well. But he deserves to die in the ring. Not on the streets. Let Roshi watch his student die publicly."

Shen smirked. "Your heart is cold. It warms my own. Very well."

Tien nodded before turning to Goku. "When we fight, it will be for Tao's honor."

"I don't care about Tao. I'll fight for Yamcha." Goku told him with a fierce look.

"As long as you and I fight, I don't care." Tien spat, before he and his master left.

Goku and Krillin scowled before making their way back to the hotel, as they were sure the other's heard the commotion earlier. When they got back to the hotel, Gine ran out and grabbed Goku, pulling him into a hug. "Goku! Are you okay, sweetie? Roshi told us what happened." she said in concern.

Goku hugged back. "I'm fine mom."

Oolong raised a brow. "Are you sure, Goku? Sounds like you almost got your bacon cooked."

"Don't worry. It won't happen again." Goku assured.

Gine then hugged him tighter. "Alright… but if I find out who did this…" Gine growled, making her meaning clear. She was sure she would give into her saiyan instincts and murder the one who tried to hurt her baby.

That however could wait, as after Goku put the minds of his friends at ease, they returned to their hotel rooms, and tried to get some sleep. Goku most of all, as he refused to lose until he faced Tien.

The next day soon came, with Chichi getting ready for her next match against Tien. She was excited to make him pay for what he did to Yamcha and Nam. She was only sorry she was going to take that chance away from Goku.

Speaking of Tien, he was talking with his master, who was enjoying some ice cream. "I have to admit, master. Seeing how Goku defeated Pomput yesterday impressed me. It was quick and efficient. I feel I would have done the same in his position. I might have found a worthy foe."

She took a bite of his treat. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Tien. First things first. You have to crush his little girlfriend."

Tien gave a nod. "Yes. It was surprising how she managed to defeat Jackie Chun. From what I saw in the preliminaries, he was like the perfect predator. Able to study his opponent's movements, and defeat them. And yet, Chichi was able to overwhelm him somehow…"

"It seems the girl can wield magic. Which is a surprise, since Roshi couldn't have taught it to her."

Chiaotzu tilted his head. "She has magic?"

Shen nodded. "Yes, the power of external energy, rather than internal energy. Something that was always more the style of Roshi's sister…" Just then, a look of realization hit him. "Hmm… that makes sense. Just like me, Baba had always wanted to one up that miserable turtle." he chuckled.

"His sister? She taught her?" Tien asked in confusion.

"That's the only explanation. She is an accomplished fortune teller after all. However, with her being so young, she has to have her limits of what she can do. There is only so much a young body like hers can do before it overwhelms itself, enhancing her strength magically." Shen chuckled. "So long as you can make her overdo it, she should be easy to deal with."

"I understand, master. I won't fail." Tien nodded in understanding.

"See that you don't. I've already been embarrassed enough from Chiaotzu's performance earlier. So you better not humiliate me further by losing before even getting to the finals." Shen scolded, making Chiaotzu look down sadly.

Tien looked at his friend and placed a hand on his shoulder in comfort, feeling as though master Shen was being unfair to Chiaotzu. But he kept quiet, as he didn't wish to start a fight with his master.

After some time, Chichi and Tien began to get ready for their match. Chichi's confidence was confident in her chances against him. When she looked at the way Tien carried himself, she couldn't help but think of mercenary Tao. Fierce, cunning, and terrifying at times. She couldn't be of much help to Goku against Tao, but now she was sure she could do something against Tien.

Tien looked at her and smirked. "Hope you are ready to lose. You may have beaten Chun, but your magic tricks wont work on me."

Chichi was surprised he figured out what she did. But it didn't mean she would lose. She glared at him before making her way to the arena.

Tien was about to follow, only to be stopped by Jackie. "What do you want?" he growled.

Jackie let out a sigh. "I feel you are treading a dangerous path, Tien. A short and self destructive path that could consume you. You follow a man unfit to be called master."

This angered Tien. "Do you honestly think I'll just stand here listening to the ravings of some crazed old geezer?!"

"The truth can often be hard to swallow. But it needs to be said." he continued. "I can feel it, your mind is scattered and unfocused. I can help you. But only if you let me. You have been giving tainted and skewed values. It isn't your fault, though. The crane hermit has always been a master of deception and manipulation. You are young, you can still change your course."

"Enough! I don't need your lectures, you old fool!" Tien shouted as he grabbed Jackie and grabbed the old man's shirt. "Master Shen has made me strong. None could stand up to me thanks to him!"

Jackie then however grabbed Tien's arm and slammed him down on the floor in one fluid motion, much to the shock of the three eyed warrior. "You could do with some humility. I could teach you how to gain a level head. To fight with a better perspective. I have seen how you fight, and I can see you have potential. You just need to be set on a better path to reach it."

Tien clenched his fists in anger. "You are starting to sound like a broken record at this point, old man."

"Then that means you were listening. That's good. Maybe it will sink in." Jackie remarked as he walked off. "It's time for us old fighters to stand aside, and let the young ones like you take our place. But it is our job to make sure you are prepared to do so. Good luck with your match."

Tien looked at Jackie in confusion. His thoughts were clouded by his words, as he got up and went to the arena. When he did, he saw Chichi was ready for him.

Chichi smirked as she was pumped. "I'm going to make you regret hurting Yamcha."

Tien glared at her as he got into position. "You should worry more about yourself." he growled.

As they had this talk, the announcer began to speak and get the fight ready. While Ox King grew nervous. "I hope she'll be okay."

"If she's lucky, she might get out of this better than Yamcha." Noted Oolong.

Launch then placed her gun to the side of his head, making the pig freeze in fear. "Watch what you say, pig! She'll be fine." she growled.

"R-right…"

"-and now, let the first match in the semi finals begin!" finished the announcer, letting the fight get started.

Chichi decided to finish this quickly, as she summoned her magical power, making her body look to be on fire, before charging like a bull.

Tien saw this and immediately went on the defensive. Like she did with Jackie, he tried to study her attack pattern, and find a weakness. He put his third eye to use, as he looked in every direction.

Tien then countered, by delivering a kick to Chichi's leg, causing the girl to trip up, and he took this advantage, as he readied to jab at Chichi, and instantly end it. But then, Jackie's words came to mind, giving Chichi a chance to get up and deliver a powerful hit that sent Tien flying.

"I think she won!" Chichi said in amazement as a grin spread across her face.

Launch smirked. "What I tell ya? She's got this."

But their celebration was premature, as Tien showed that like Chiaotzu, he too knew the flying technique.

Chichi growled at this, as she decided to do the same thing she did against Jackie, and charged up the kamehameha wave. "You won't win this!" she shouted before she fired the blast at him.

Tien saw this, and managed to completely send it back, like he had with Yamcha. Chichi saw this and dove out of the way, giving Tien an opening as he flew down and delivered another kick, only for Chichi to dodge this as well, if just barely.

Meanwhile in the crowd, Shen caught sight of Baba. "I figured I'd find you here."

"Oh? And why were you looking for me, Shen?" Baba asked with a smirk.

"Don't play dumb. I'm almost certain you foresaw this talk."

Baba laughed a little. "Guilty as charged. And yes, I did train the girl. You can't blame me for wanting to show my brother up."

"I'd be a hypocrite if I did," Shen snickered.

"The difference between us is I don't train people into murderers."

"Oh please. Don't go all high and mighty on me. I'm sure Roshi will be in for a shock."

"He definitely was. When he experienced it first hand."

Shen turned to her. "You're telling me the girl fought Roshi? Oh, I would have loved to see that." Just then, Baba began to snicker. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing really. Just what you said is all." Baba smirked.

Shen looked at her in confusion, before he tried to think about what she meant. Then his eyes turned to the tournament and looked at Chichi. Then, a thought of realization came to him, as he turned to Jackie Chun. That was when he put two and two together. He grit his teeth at that damn turtle, before trying to telepathically contact Tien.

'Tien Shinhan, listen to me! Jackie Chun! He is that scheming turtle! Master Roshi!' he mentally shouted.

This caused Tien's eyes to go wide, and give Chichi another opening as she punched him hard in the stomach, knocking the air out of him. He growled in anger as he turned to Chichi. "That's it! I'm ending this now!" he roared as he raised his hands to his face. "SOLAR FLARE!" he roared, as a massive flash of light broke out across the arena, stunning everyone, before Tien jumped into the air.

Once Chichi's sight recovered, she looked around in confusion. "W-what? Where did he…" she trailed off, only to receive a knee strike to the back of the head in a brutal fashion, making her have what felt like a concussion, before Tien grabbed her by the hair, and with all his strength, kicked her clear out of the arena so hard, she hit the spectator stand head first.

The crowd was in shock at the sheer brutality Tien had just committed on Chichi, a young girl, as she was unconscious, with her head bleeding somewhat. Baba's eyes went wide in horror, as she had gotten rather attached to Chichi in the three years she had trained her. Seeing that happen made her stomach churn.

Shen smirked. "What's wrong? Didn't see that coming?" he mocked. Baba sent him the nastiest glare possible.

"C-Chichi!" cried out Ox King in despair.

Launch gripped the stand edge tightly. "T-that three eyed bastard…" she growled.

The others couldn't help but also feel just as angry, as Goku ran towards Chichi. "Chichi! Chichi, wake up!" he called out as he tried to shake her awake.

"Is she okay?" Bulma asked him with worry.

"I-I think so…" Goku spoke as he let out a sigh of relief. "She looks like she just passed out…"

"Well, let's get her inside!" Oolong suggested.

"Right." Goku nodded as he carried her. The others followed him inside, to check on Chichi.

The announcer had an awkward look, before clearing his throat. "L-ladies and gentlemen, it appears Tien has won.

Jackie sighed. "Well Krillin, good luck with your fight." he spoke as he began to walk off.

Krillin turned to him in confusion. "What do you mean? Where are you going?"

Jackie stopped for a second, before giving a quick glance. "My time here is done. It's up to you young ones now." he then went on his way.

Tien turned to where Roshi was, and saw the old man begin to leave. With a glare, he made his way after him.

As he did so, Goku and the others placed Chichi down on the mat. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as Yamcha, so she didn't need a hospital. But it was clear it would take an hour or so for her to wake up.

The Ox King had tears in his eyes. "O-oh Chichi… I'm sorry this happened to you…" he managed through his tears.

Bulma placed his arm on his… elbow, in comfort. "It's okay Ox, she's strong. She'll be fine."

"Yeah, she is a tough gal. She'll bounce back, and just work her butt off to make that jerk pay." Launch nodded.

Just then, the announcer called out. "Will Goku and Krillin please come to the arena. Goku and Krillin, please come to the arena. Your match is ready to start!"

Goku looked to Krillin. "I guess it's our turn…"

"Yeah…" Krillin sighed. But he then had a determined look. "Well, at least one of us has a chance to get Tien back for Chichi."

Goku smirked and nodded. "Right." The two of them then began to make their way to the arena.

Meanwhile, Tien followed Roshi outside, and saw him taking off his disguise. Roshi gave a sigh. "It's funny… it feels like I'm saying goodbye to a friend for the last time…" He spoke as he put the clothes and wig in a briefcase, before he then turned, and saw Tien behind him.

Tien stared Roshi down. "Why… why the charade? Why pretend to be someone else?"

Roshi sighed. "If you are looking for answers, I can give very little other than advice." he walked over to Tien. "Winning this tournament isn't a stopping point in one's journey. It is simply a milestone to see the results of your training. But, giving the title of master of all martial arts to those who win can be dangerous."

"What are you saying?" Tien asked in confusion.

"I'm saying the point is there is no such thing as being the strongest alive. I wanted to make it so my students could compete, but never win. To keep them humble, and know they still have room to grow." Roshi explained.

"Hehe, but that pretty much flew out the window, losing to your student." Tien mocked.

Roshi gave a small nod. "Indeed. My student's have surpassed me. But I still have hope my plan will work."

"And why is that?" Tien was confused. How could he still think his plan could work?

"Because, I have you." Tien's eyes went wide the second Roshi said that. "I've been waiting for someone like you for a long time. There is a whole new generation of fighters. And they need guidance. And I'm too old, and far too tired, to do so. You however? You fit the bill pretty well, and the world needs new heroes to inspire them."

"A new… hero?" Tien had been called many things. But that… he had never been called that.

"You're a little rough around the edges, that's true. But you have promise." Roshi's words made Tien go wide eyed. "You're not ignorant. And for someone your age, that is saying a lot. You have some issues that need some work, like that thing with killing. But I can see you are beginning to question that path. It's why you're here after all."

"N-no! I want to be a killer! I do!" Tien denied.

"You may say that. But I can tell that is not what's in your heart. Now, unless there's something else, I believe I should get going." Roshi said as he began to leave.

Tien grit his teeth as he trembled. "Y-you're a joke! All you could ever teach me is to run and hide like a coward! You don't know a thing about me! So you have no right to preach about me or master Shen! I may not walk a good path, but I don't walk away when I fail! You act as if you know how to achieve enlightenment, but all you talk about is a choice! And I made mine long ago!" he raged. "I'm like Tao! A killer!"

Roshi gave him a small glance. "Tao was a great killer, true. But you could never be like him. Because unlike him, you have a conscience. I saw how you hesitated during your fight with Chichi." Tien couldn't believe what he just heard, as he froze on the spot. "But what do I know? You do what you think is best. Good luck, killer." he simply said as he walked away.

Tien couldn't find the words to say anything else. He just glared at Roshi, as the old man walked away. He just stood there for the longest time, not really sure what to do. Despite what he had said, he couldn't get Roshi's words out of his mind. It felt like minutes, or even hours since he last moved. And once he actually left that spot, he found himself inside, seeing Ox King, sitting over his unconscious daughter.

He didn't say anything, didn't make his presence known to the worried father. Tien finally noticed his hand trembling. Was Roshi right? Did he really have a conscience after all? Was he… feeling guilt?

After what felt like another eternity, Tien was taken out of his thoughts when he heard the announcer. "Ladies and gentleman! The winner of the second semi finals is… Goku!" he called out.

Tien's eyes went wide at this, before his expression became serious. He knew what this meant. That he would be facing Goku in the final round in the tournament. This would be when he decides. Will he stick to the path Shen has laid out for him, or will he turn back like Roshi suggested?

Outside, Goku's friends were congratulating him. Even Krillin was a good sport about losing the way he did.

"That was amazing, Goku!" Bulma cheered as Goku went over to them. Bulma had pulled him into a hug.

"Hehe, thanks Bulma!" Goku chuckled as he hugged back.

"You two, Krillin." Oolong complimented as he patted the bald boy on the shoulder. "You really know how to put on a show."

Krillin rubbed the back of his head with a grin. "Thanks. But Goku earned that win."

"You both have grown. You should be proud." They all turned and saw it was Roshi who said that.

"And just where have you been, old man?" Launch asked in a huff. She was honestly kind of annoyed he only just got here.

Roshi gave her a cheeky grin. "A man has to have some secrets."

Gohan sighed and shook his head. "Well at any rate, it's good that you are here now. We can all watch the final match together."

"We should probably check on Chichi, and see how she's doing." Bulma suggested.

"Sounds good to me. I hope she is doing alright." Roshi spoke, as the group made their way into the main building.

When they got there, they saw that Chichi was awake, and she was hugging her father while they were both crying. Ox King out of pure relief that she was okay, and Chichi at letting her friends down.

When she saw the others, she ran to Goku and hugged him. "I-I'm sorry, Goku… I… I thought I could beat him…"

Goku hugged her back and tried to comfort her. "It's okay, Chichi. You did your best."

"Indeed, child. That counts for something." Chichi turned to who said that, and saw it was Baba.

Roshi gave an annoyed look. "Finally decided to show yourself, eh?"

"Oh quiet you. Don't ruin the moment!" the fortune teller huffed at her brother in annoyance.

Chichi let go of Goku and went over to her. "I'm… sorry, miss Baba… all that hard work you did for me, and I still lost…"

"Oh hush, child. You did fine. You showed your stuff, and made it to the semi finals. If you ask me, that doesn't seem like a waste." Baba assured her with a cackle. "Honestly, I was impressed with how you did."

"But… I didn't listen to Roshi about staying humble, and let everything you taught me get to my head…"

"Listen, I'd never fault anyone for ignoring my brother. I do it all the time."

"Hey! Just because you don't like what I have to say doesn't mean it isn't important!" Roshi protested in frustration.

"Well perhaps if you weren't always blowing hot air, we might listen to you." Baba responded, before blowing a raspberry.

Chichi smiled, before giving Baba a hug. "I'll do better next time."

Baba smiled and hugged back. "That's the spirit." She then broke the hug. "Now, you should get ready, Goku. You have a tough fight ahead of you."

"Wait, Goku won the semi final?" Chichi asked with a smile.

Goku nodded. "Uh huh. Sure did."

Chichi was about to congratulate him, only to then realize he was going to face Tien. "T-try to be careful, okay?"

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." he assured.

Meanwhile with Tien, he was trying to focus so he could prepare for his final match. But Roshi's words continued to cloud his mind. "S-stop… don't let him distract you… think of the memory of Tao… you need to avenge him… focus on that…" he growled to himself.

He began to try and meditate, clearing his mind as he began to float in the air, pushing away all distractions. Time lost all meaning as he concentrated.

However, his meditate was interrupted when Chiaotzu called out to him. Tien opened his eyes as he turned to his friend. "What is it, Chiaotzu?"

Chiaotzu had a nervous look on his face, as he hadn't seen Tien like this before. "I-it's time…"

Tien stood up, and gave his friend a nod before heading out. He was ready to face Goku. He had to push all his doubts aside and win.

In the crowd, Goku's friends had all found a spot to watch him, silently wishing him luck. "I hope he'll be alright…" Gine said with a worried tone.

"He'll be fine, don't worry. He won't let that jerk beat him." Launch assured.

"Yeah. Trust me, I've seen Goku in action plenty of times." Bulma agreed.

Gine gave a small smile and nodded, before a voice called out. "Hey, hope I didn't miss anything." They all turned and saw Yamcha and Puar. Yamcha was dressed in his suit, and was using a pair of crutches to walk.

"Yamcha!" Bulma said happily as she hugged her friend.

Oolong went over and smiled. "They had you discharged, eh?"

Yamcha gave a small smirk. "I wouldn't say that."

"Are you saying you snuck out?" Gohan asked with a sigh.

Puar floated over to him to explain. "We didn't want to miss Goku's match."

"Well we are glad you're alright." Mister Turtle said with a smile.

Just then, fireworks began to go off, indicating the match was going to start soon. The announcer came up and spoke. "Alright folks, it is time for the final climactic round to the world martial arts championship! The battle between our last two fighters for the title of champion! First up, we have the student of the crane school, who has dominated throughout the tournament, showing a level of skill and brutality we haven't seen in some time!"

Tien walked out onto the ring. He saw Shen giving him a serious look. It was clear his master expected him to win, and would tolerate no failure. He then saw Yamcha was in the audience, surprised to see he was already on his feet. Or at least one of them, judging by the crutches.

"Our next contestant is Goku, who had made it to the finals of the last tournament, and once again showed his skill for one so young. He is a student of the turtle hermit, master Roshi, who, coincidentally, happens to be the rival of master Shen. Two rival schools faced off in the final round. It seems like fate to me, ladies and gentleman!"

Goku came out onto the ring as the crowd cheered for him, excited to see the final match. His friends, grandpa and mother all cheered for him, and wished him luck and to win.

"You got this Goku!" Bulma shouted.

"I'm rooting for you sweetie!" Gine cheered.

Oolong looked over, and saw Roshi was gone again. "Huh? Where did he go?"

Launch growled. "Don't tell me that old man disappeared again. He's gonna miss the fight."

Baba looked around in annoyance. "Now what is he up to?"

Roshi however had just gotten out of the crowd to get a better spot, by jumping over the wall to where Krillin and Chichi were watching.

The two looked on in confusion. "Master Roshi? What are you doing back here?" Chichi asked.

"Won't you get in trouble?" Krillin questioned. "This spot is for participants."

Roshi just waved off their concerns. "Oh don't worry. I'm sure they won't mind. Now watch closely, there may never be another fight like this again in our lifetimes." The two nodded and watched.

The announcer then stepped off the arena. "And now, let the final match of the twenty second world martial arts tournament begin!" he shouted, as Goku and Tien stared each other down. The crowd became deathly silent, waiting for either of the fighters to make a move.

The two got into fighting stances, before Goku ran forward with a punch. Tien blocked it effortlessly and went to counter with a kick, but Goku dodged it and grabbed his leg with his tail, and punched Tien below his arm, sending the three eyed warrior flying backwards, before he righted himself and jumped into the air.

Goku went after him with a rising kick. Roshi's eyes went wide, as he saw then Tien planned for it. "Oh, no! Goku!" he called out, but it was too late.

"DODON RAY!" Tien called out, blasting Goku right down to the arena, and through the floor. When he came down to the ground, he believed Goku was no more.

Shen had a smirk. "Hehe, it may have been short, but it was satisfying."

"Wait, master!" Chiaotzu called out. "Look!" he pointed to the hole, and saw that Goku dug himself out.

Goku had a massive grin as he got out. Bulma and Chichi both let out sighs of relief. They felt like they might have some ptsd from seeing Goku almost killed by that attack. "Phew… he's alright… I almost had a heart attack…" Lamented Bulma.

Launch gave a smirk. "Will take more than a little flashy attack and a fall to take care of him." she assured.

Goku then ran towards Tien, who was ready to counter any attack Goku threw, only for the monkey tailed boy to vanish, using the same move he used to beat Krillin.

Chichi's eyes went wide. "Wow, what was that?"

Krillin gave a small chuckle. "I don't know, but he beat me with it."

Tien kept his guard up. He put his third eye to use as all three began to look around in different directions, scanning for Goku's movements and counter this technique. Just as Goku was about to attack, Tien swung his fist. "THERE!" he shouted as he backhanded Goku.

His friends were all shocked to see the move was ineffective against Tien, as now Goku was wide open, while the crane student charged towards him.

Tien had a grin on his face. "Now you'll suffer the wrath of Tien Shinhan!" he roared as he slammed Goku into the wall and began to brutally beat him.

Shen chuckled cruelly, taking delight in seeing Goku suffer, while his friends couldn't bear to look. Gine felt an unearthly rage only a saiyan mother could feel.

Tien knocked Goku on the ground. He lifted the boy up by his gi, smirking as he was ready to finish it. "The only thing that makes this sweeter, is the fact that somewhere, Tao is smiling." he remarked in an amused tone. Tien tossed Goku into the air, starting to play volleyball with the boy's body, a technique that he made that has him act like a volleyball player, setting up for a spike. It was actually a technique Tien had fun using, as it was his favorite.

When he spiked Goku onto the ground, he ended up slamming right into his tailbone, making his eyes go wide with pain. He actually ended up passing out for a moment there.

His friends grew concerned, as they couldn't tell if he was alive or not. Gine began to tremble. "P-please get up…"

"Come on! You're way tougher than that!" Launch called out.

"Yeah kid, I've seen you get up from worse than that!" Oolong agreed.

As his friends called out to him, Goku's eyes shot wide open as he jumped onto his feet, much to the shock of Tien. "W-what?! No way!" He couldn't believe anyone could survive his volleyball technique.

Goku gave a small chuckle. "That was a pretty neat attack. Though it wasn't very fun being the ball."

Tien sighed, but gave a smirk. "I'll admit, you are pretty tough. Stupid, but tough."

"Thanks. So are you, which is why I'm going to go all out from now on."

This made Tien laugh a little. "So what, you've been holding back out of concern for my safety?"

Goku simply nodded to him. "Yep. But now I'll fight normally." This surprised everyone who knew Goku, as they didn't think he understood the meaning of the word normal. Goku then went on to explain. "When I'm fighting in a match, I always make sure to be careful against my opponent so I don't hurt them too much. I call it my battle strength."

Tien scoffed, thinking it was just bluster meant to scare him. "Tell you what, you have fun with your battle strength, and I'll just find a way to kill you."

"You can try."

"I won't need to. It's too easy." Tien responded confidently as they both got back into their fighting stances.

But before Tien had a chance to do anything, Goku charged in, and began to wail on Tien, beating him like a punching bag. Tien was completely taken aback as he was sent flying, only for Goku to dive under him at incredible speed and launch him into the air.

As Tien was sent skyward, Goku began to change up his kamehameha wave. But then he realized something, and decided not to as Tien landed back on the ground, holding himself in pain as blood spilled from his mouth. He got up, and wiped the blood from his lips.

Goku gave him a smirk. "Hope you liked my battle strength."

Tien then seemed to burst out laughing. "Hahaha, haha… yes, I did. This is exhilarating. I never felt like this before." he exclaimed in joy.

Goku raised a brow in confusion, before his smile returned. He had to admit, he was enjoying facing a strong opponent as well. Though for him, it was because of his saiyan heritage. For Tien, he may not be bred to be a warrior, but he was still born to be one.

"What's he doing? He could have won." Bulma asked in confusion.

Yamcha didn't think so, however. "No, Goku realized it wouldn't have worked. All throughout the tournament, that technique hasn't worked on him once. And Goku knows that. He would have wasted energy, and given Tien an advantage."

Gohan nodded. "Very astute of you, Yamcha. It seems Shen may have found a way to counter the signature technique of his rival. Or perhaps he had made Tien devise it himself, seeing as how he is Shen's star pupil. Or perhaps Tien is simply that skilled."

"Then what could Goku do?" Bulma asked in concern.

Launch just gave a smirk. "Well whatever he does, at least this is getting good. Tien seems to be letting Goku go all out."

Just then, they all saw that Tien was suddenly meditating, floating in the middle of the ring. Shen just seemed to smile as he watched, as when Tien finished, he looked at Goku with a grin. "Alright, I've indulged you for long enough. Now it's time you pay for Tao."

"We'll see about that." Goku smirked.

The two then continued their fight. The two of them were trading blows against one another. The two of them seem to be at a standstill, as it was anyone's guess for who would win. And yet, Goku didn't seem to run out of breath once.

Just then, Goku seemed to pull out the after image technique, and was able to create ten images of himself. Tien was confident that his third eye would allow him to see through this. "Hehe, you're a fool Goku. Illusions don't fool me." he spoke in a confident tone. He then attacked one of the Goku's behind him that looked to be about to attack. Only to the shock of Tien, it was an after image.

"Gatcha!" Goku shouted as he attacked from behind, only to find out Tien made an after image of his own. Tien went to attack Goku again, mocking him for falling for his own technique. And yet once again it turned out to be an after image. As Goku then kicked Tien hard enough to send him back.

Shen and Chiaotzu were left speechless, as Tien had never been fooled by any illusionary technique before. His third eye always guarded him against such things. Roshi, Chichi, and Krillin meanwhile were shocked Goku was able to plan so far ahead to make that many after images. Or that he was able to make so many.

Tien was lying motionless on the ground, and didn't seem to be getting up. It looked as though he may have lost. Bulma began to cheer. "I-I think he did it… he might have actually done it!" she cheered as she hugged Yamcha in joy.

"G-GHA! C-careful Bulma!" he groaned in pain, as he was still a bit battered from his fight with Tien.

Bulma blushed in embarrassment as she let go. "S-sorry… I got a little excited…"

Goku meanwhile just smirked as he looked at Tien, seeing how he looked to be beaten, after he went on about how he was invincible.. "Guess there's a first time for everything."

Tien groaned as he started to pick himself up. "I-I'm… not done yet…"

Everyone was surprised at how he got up. It was certainly unexpected. He had to be tough to be able to get back up after a hit like that.

Tien then started bragging. "You really think I'd go down so easily? You aren't strong enough to beat me."

Goku was left confused by his words. "But you seemed to have a bit of trouble before."

This greatly angered Tien as he grit his teeth. "You dare to mock me?!" he shouted, before getting into a familiar stance. Chichi's eyes went wide, as she remembered how she lost against Tien. Goku remembered it as well, as he was prepared for this. "SOLAR FLARE!" A bright flash erupted, blinding everyone around the arena.

Tien then charged in, believing Goku to be far too dazed to do a thing. However, Goku then caught his punch, and delivered his own to Tien's stomach. Tien began to double over in pain from this, as the air was knocked out of him.

"W-what… how… you…" he groaned as he began to fall to his knees, and saw Goku was suddenly wearing Roshi's glasses.

Roshi placed a hand on his face, as he just now realized his sunglasses were gone. "When did he have the chance to…" he didn't even see Goku move.

"Hehe, pretty clever." Gohan chuckled.

"Yeah. He remembered from Chichi's fight, and knew to take Roshi's glasses." Yamcha nodded, as he was impressed with how fast Goku was.

As Tien fell onto the floor, the announcer began to count down. It looked like he was about to lose. When Goku went to return Roshi's glasses to him, Tien got his second wind and jumped into the air, kicking Goku in the face, and shattering the glasses.

Goku corrected himself as he grasped his head. "O-ow… my ears are ringing… that wasn't fair…" he groaned.

Tien however wasn't in the mood for games. "I've had enough! Just give up if you know what's good for you, and get this over with!"

Shen was starting to lose his patience. He wanted this over with, as he then turned to Chiaotzu. Said student had a concerned look.

Meanwhile, Chichi and Krillin were both staring at Roshi. When he noticed, he was confused. "What is it? Something on my face?"

The two of them shook their heads. "N-no master. It's just that… we never saw you without your glasses before." Krillin explained.

Chichi gave a small nod. "Yeah… your eyes look… familiar…"

Roshi blushed in concern, before turning away. "F-focus on the match!" he ordered, making them yelp as they did so.

Meanwhile at said match, the two fighters charged towards each other. Goku lunged into the air for more momentum with his strike, only for him to suddenly be hit with a shocking pain out of nowhere, leaving him unable to move. Tien saw an opening, and immediately struck. This caught everyone by surprise, as Goku wasn't one to freeze up.

Goku groaned as he pulled himself up. He was left confused, not knowing that Shen was behind this, as he chuckled to himself. Chiatozu had a nervous look, sweat dripping down his face.

Goku got up, and got ready to fight again. The two of them were once again about to clash, as Goku raised his fist. Only to once again feel a stinging sensation, leaving him to freeze up, and fall to the ground. Just when it looked like he would fall out of the ring, he used the kamehameha wave to save himself.

As the fight continued, Goku continued to freeze up during the fight, allowing Tien to have openings to strike.

"What's going on? Something isn't right…" Bulma asked in shock.

Gohan had a look of suspicion. "This stinks of trickery."

Yamcha was suddenly struck with realization as he turned to Chiatozu. "Look, he's causing Goku to be paralyzed!"

Bulma turned and was shocked. "Just like during Krillin's match against him…"

"Is that so?!" Launch growled. "Then let's put a stop to it!" She ran over to Shen and Chiatozu, ready to stop this sabotage herself. Her friends grew nervous as this usually meant trouble.

Launch walked up behind Chiaotzu with a large mallet, and was about to strike him on the head. She figured it would be hard to use psychic abilities with a headache. Only for Shen, without looking, to stop it with a single pinky finger. He then flicked it, and sent Launch flying far, giving the girl a headache herself.

Back at the match, Tien felt like something was off. This was too easy. Goku was way tougher than this. Even he had to admit that. And just like Yamcha, realization struck him as he turned to Shen and Chiaotzu.

Goku groaned as he grabbed Tien's leg. "Y-you… cheated…" this shocked Tien, before falling down.

Shen smirked at this. "Good Tien, good. Finish him." he ordered psychically.

Tien however just looked at his friend and their master. "Wait… I wonder…" Roshi noticed Tien halted his attack. Tien began to contact Chiaotzu telepathically. "Chiaotzu, are you doing this?" Chiaotzu having a flustered face confirmed it, angering Tien. "How dare you?! This is my fight! I don't want you to interfere!"

Shen growled at this, and decided to step in. "I ordered Chiaotzu to do so, since you seem to be unable to do this on your own. Have you forgotten to avenge the murder of Tao? We must crush that boy at any cost. No action is too underhanded in the name of vengeance!"

Tien was shocked by this, as he never expected Shen to do something like this. " I could never forget Tao. Or my duty to this school." Tien then remembered Tao, and how it was Goku who killed him. But this… even for him, this was far too underhanded.

He looked down onto Goku, thinking about how he could easily end this. How it would only be right after he killed Tao. But he couldn't bring himself to. Roshi was right. He did have a conscience.

Shen had begun to grow impatient. "Do it, Tien Shinhan! Do it!"

Tien glared at Shen with hatred and anger. "LEAVE ME ALONE!" he demanded, to the shock of Chiaotzu, and the anger of Shen.

Roshi looked on, as a small smile came to his face. Just then, Goku had gotten up, and made some distance away from Tien so he could recover. His friends sighed in relief.

Shen grit his teeth at this. "I am your master, Tien! I command you to finish him now!"

"I have done everything you have ever asked me." Tien said in explanation. "I defeated our enemies… defended the honor of our school… but I wish to win this match myself, without any aid."

"Then prove it, destroy that boy at once!"

However, Tien stood his ground. "No. I won't kill him. If I did, I would lose the match."

Shen was exasperated. "Forget the stupid match, you are a killer. Do you forsake that destiny?!"

"No master… I'm no killer… you are wrong to believe it to be my destiny…" Tien admitted, realizing Roshi was right all about him.

Shen had reached his breaking point, seeing this as a betrayal from Tien. "Y-you weak coward! You allowed that turtle hermit to corrupt you! I have given you everything, and now you repay me like this?! Chiaozu, paralyze them both, and show them what happens to those who cross me!" he ordered.

Chiaotzu was shocked at his master's command "I… I'm sorry master… but I can't bring myself to hurt Tien…" he said sadly.

Shen grit his teeth, thinking he was surrounded with betrayal, as he grabbed Chiaotzu. "Why you little… Now you defy me as well? Then share his fate!" he roared as he was about to kill Chiaotzu.

Tien's eyes went wide, as he was about to try and stop Shen, only for Roshi to act quicker. "KAMEHAMEHA!" he roared as he fired his attack at Shen. The crane hermit was sent flying right out of there, far into the distance.

"N-master Shen…" Tien said in shock.

"Don't worry." Roshi assured. "He'll be sore. But he'll live. Now get back to the fight."

Goku looked up to Tien and smiled. "Sorry. I guess I was wrong when I said you cheated."

"Tien was silent for a second, as he turned to Goku. "I… I have forsaken my master. Now all I have left is this fight. This is no longer about our schools or Tao. I now fight solely to win." he proclaimed. "I will never be led astray from my goal again!" Chiaotzu was amazed by his words, while Roshi gave a small nod, as he was glad he managed to help the boy turn his life around.

Goku gave Tien a nod. "I'm glad to hear it. I'm ready when you are." The two got back to their battle, ready for it to be as long as it needs to be. All that mattered is that they won, and did so their way, with Goku taking the lead at first, delivering several punches and kicks to Tien, without Tien throwing a blow. Goku was confused by that though as he knocked Tien down. "Why aren't you fighting back?"

Tien began to pull himself up. "To repay my debt. You deserved to pay me back for Chiaotzu's interference. Now we are even." he explained, surprising everyone by how noble he was being. "Now I'll show you my full strength." he then began to focus his body, as he outstretched his arms, then began to strain his entire body.

Chiatozu smiled as he knew what he was doing. The four witches technique. He knew that would give Tien the advantage, as Tien then sprouted a second pair of arms from his back, to the disgust of everyone seeing this.

"I-I think I'm gonna be sick…" Bulma gagged as she saw this.

Gine however felt like something about Tien was… familiar. Like she heard about something like this. But she couldn't put her finger on it, before it finally came to her. "A triclops…"

Gohan turned to her. "Hm… I suppose he would be with three eyes."

Gine realized what she said and gave a nervous chuckle. "Y-yeah.. It sort of just came to me…" But in reality, she had heard legends of an ancient race a long time ago when she still lived on Planet Vegeta. They were a race of three eyed aliens, though Tien was somewhat different. It could be he was a descendant, and their race came to earth a long time ago.

Tien smirked as he stretched his new arms, making sure they were ready to fight. "Don't worry, I'll make this quick." he told Goku as he charged. When he went to strike with both his original arms, Goku managed to block, only for Tien to then attack with his two new ones.

Tien then began to overwhelm a flurry of attacks with his arms, causing Goku to try and gain some distance, only to almost fall off the arena. Goku then decided to try and do a flying kick to Tien, but it resulted in him getting caught.

Tien smirked, as he then began headbutting Goku. "Looks like it's over now." He then began to continually headbutt Goku again and again.

Goku felt like he was about to pass out from the pain, only to grin at Tien, much to the three eyed warrior's confusion, before Goku then smacked Tien with his tail, with all the force of one of his punches. "Forgo about my tail, didn't you?" he chuckled, before beginning to slap Tien around with his tail repeatedly.

It became too much for Tien, as he tossed Goku away. "Grr… that's a pretty tough tail you got there…"

"Thanks. You seem pretty tough with four arms. But let's try eight." Goku suggested. Just then, Goku seemed to copy Tien's technique, and suddenly had four arms.

Everyone was either amazed or shocked by this, as Goku then charged Tien. He let out a flurry of blows, but when Tien tried to block, the punches went through his arms, shocking him so much, he couldn't react in time to Goku punching him in the gut, showing the extra arms were after images, meant to trick his opponent.

After a while of fighting, and so many close calls, Tien realized his four arms weren't going to help. He retracted them away. He decided there was only one thing left to do. "I don't want to kill you anymore, Goku. When the time comes, avoid it."

Goku, and everyone watching, was confused by this. What could he have been talking about? Though they felt as though they were about to find out. Roshi and Chiaotzu however realized what he had planned.

"He couldn't be, could he?" the old hermit asked.

"What master? He couldn't what?" Chichi asked.

"The tri beam. A powerful attack that could even rival the kamehameha wave. However, do use it comes at a cost. Not only does it draw on your ki, it also requires your own life force." Roshi explained. "Which makes it dangerous to use if left as a last resort, as it could be fatal. And if you do survive, it shortens your life with each use."

Chiaotzu contacted Tien telepathically, trying to convince him not to. But Tien tried to tell his friend he would be alright, and not use all his energy, before flying up into the air. "Remember, Goku, dodge it, don't try and take it!" he called out.

"Goku, be careful!" Bulma called out, not liking the feeling of this.

Chichi also grew worried, along with everyone else. "Please watch out!"

Tien then began to draw energy into his hands. He focused his sights on the platform. He had to make sure he didn't pour too much of his energy into this attack, as if he did, it would be over. He didn't want to kill Goku, but he also didn't want to lose. "TRI BEAM!" he roared, firing a massive blast, and creating a massive flash, followed by an even bigger explosion.

Once the light faded, everyone had been knocked off their feet and pulled themselves up. "W-what was that?" Yamcha asked as Bulma helped him get up.

"I-I don't know…" she replied nervously. When she turned back to the arena, her eyes went wide. "W-what the?! W-where did it go?!"

To the shock of everyone, the entire platform was gone. And in its place, a massive square pit. And no sight of Goku. Gine began looking around desperately. "W-where is he? P-please tell me that didn't hit him…" she begged as tears began to well up in his face.

Everyone looked around, and called out to him, hoping to find him. But there was no sight or answer. They all thought he might be dead. Tien looked down, panting heavily, and hoping Goku listened to him, and that he didn't kill Goku. Ironic, before when he tried to, he wasn't able to. But now that he wanted the boy to live, he just might have taken his life.

Just as everyone was beginning to lose hope, Roshi could sense something. This wasn't over yet. Chiaotzu could also sense it. Tien's eyes went wide, as he realized it as well. He looked up, as that was where he could sense Goku.

Goku was completely fine. His clothes may have been worse for wear, but he was alright, as he had gotten way above the clouds. Tien had an intense look as he flew up to Goku as he slowly descended. When he caught up with Goku. "hehe, you made it." He chuckled. "You sure jumped pretty high."

"Well, it's thanks to you for warning me. I wouldn't have evaded in time if you hadn't." Goku replied in a thankful tone.

"Like I said, I didn't want to kill you. Just knock you out of the ring. And it looks like it worked. Now you only have to fall, now that there isn't a stage left to fall to."

Goku thought about Tien's words, trying to come up with a plan. "I still have one chance left."

Tien's eyes went wide. "What are you talking about? There's no way you could win up here!"

"That last attack took a lot out of you. So it's my turn." Goku said with a smirk, before charging up. "Kame… hame…"

"Are you kidding?" Tien asked. "Don't you ever get tired of that move? It won't work on me. You already know that." he began laughing.

Goku didn't listen, as, in a surprise twist, he turned around, and fired the wave, launching himself directly at Tien. Tien began to scream in shock as he was hit directly by Goku in the chest. The kid's hard head hit him so hard, Tien was no longer able to fly. The two began to fall directly to the ground. There was no telling who would hit the ground first. The announcer then used a small jet plane to go after them, to get the details of the conclusion to the fight.

"I-I think I put everything I had left in that…" Goku groaned, as he couldn't move his body at all.

"Y-you're crazy…" Tien groaned as he fell alongside the boy.

Goku then tried to use the kamehameha again. It didn't do much, but it seemed to slow his fall down quite a bit as they fell into the city, far from the tournament grounds as they passed buildings and cars at high speed.

Just then, as it looked like Tien was about to hit the ground first, Goku was suddenly hit by a truck, causing him to hit the ground before Tien, bringing the match to a close in a single instant.

The announcer's eyes went wide as he let out a gasp, before speaking in his mic to inform the audience. "I-it's over folks! I'm currently over the streets where the combatants have finally landed. In a complete twist of bad timing, Goku had lost due to a truck hitting him, and causing him to land first!"

Goku's friends were all taken aback at how after everything, Goku still lost. "No way… so… its over?" Chichi asked.

"Hmm… it appears so." Roshi nodded.

"I can't believe it! He was so close, only to have it snatched from him!" Raged Launch in anger, as she held out hope for Goku. She grit her fists in anger, from how much she wanted to feed that truck driver some lead.

Gine looked down sadly. "He tried so hard…"

Gohan then rested a hand on her shoulder. "There is always another three years, Gine. A loss is just an opportunity to learn and improve."

Gine gave a small smile. You're right, Gohan."

"We should go. Goku could use his friends." Yamcha suggested."

"Good idea…" Bulma sighed. Krillin and Chichi thought the same as they immediately got running to where Goku was, while Launch once again cleared the crowd in her own special way, with her gun in hand. The crowd all had the same idea, as they began to run in mass to where the two fighters were.

Goku meanwhile, soon began to regain consciousness as he looked to see Krillin and Chichi, smiling as they went up to him. "Krillin? Chichi?"

Chichi gave a small smile. "Hey Goku."

"You look awful." Krillin chuckled as he went to help his friend up.

Tien started to wake up as well, as there was a loud ringing in his ears. The crowd then began to swarm the two fighters, cheering and congratulating them. Tien got up and looked around in shock, never expecting to ever have so many adoring fans. He then saw Roshi, who gave a nod.

"I'm sure it's a new feeling for people to cheer for you. But don't worry, I have a feeling you'll get used to it. How does it feel to win the right way?" he mentally asked. "You should be proud. I hope you are ready for the consequences of this new path of yours. People will start to like you. Hehe!"

"Master, I…" he couldn't find the words, only for someone to lift him up.

The man who lifted him placed Tien on his shoulders. "A champion should be seen in style. Relax and let your biggest help." the large man said with a smile.

Tien didn't know what to say, only to give a small smile and nodded. When he and Goku caught each other's eyes, there was a long silence as they didn't break eye contact as the crowd applauded. Goku gave him a smile, which Tien gladly returned.

When they got back to what was left of the stadium, and all the audience began to leave after an eventful tournament, Goku used a fountain to get some water, as that fight made him thirsty. Master Roshi went over to congratulate his student. "That was certainly impressive, Goku. I'm proud of how far you've come."

"That was a really close fight, Goku. You should have won." Chichi told him sadly.

Krillin gave a small nod. "Yeah, talk about bad luck."

"It's fine, I had a lot of fun." Goku replied as he wiped his face, only for his gi to tear, making Chichi blush hard.

Krillin began to burst out laughing. "Man, you go through clothes as much as you go through meals. Here, take my gi." Krillin offered as he took his gi off.

Just then, Tien showed up. "Hey, Goku." he called out, gaining the boy's attention. "I've been thinking, and I wanted you to have this." he said as he went and offered the prize money. "You should have at least half. If it hadn't been for that truck, you would have won."

Goku shook his head as he put on Krillin's gi, while Krillin put on his suit. "No thanks, I don't need money."

Tien was about to object, only for Roshi to cut in. "It's true you may have won by luck. But that doesn't change that you won. Luck and strength often go together more than you think."

"And I got to learn a lot fighting you." Goku added. Tien was silent, as he was left thinking on their words.

"There you guys are." Bulma called out. She and the others were seen coming over.

Gine went over and hugged Goku. "You made me so proud, sweetie. If your father could see you now."

Goku smiled and hugged back. "Thanks mom."

Yamcha stared at Tien for a moment, before walking over. Tien was silent, expecting Yamcha to berate him. It was only fair after what he did. Only for Yamcha to smile. "You fought well. Really."

Tien was taken about. "T-thank you… I'm… sorry about your leg… I did some terrible things… to you too Chichi."

"It's fine. I'll heal. Though I do expect a rematch, next time." Yamcha replied with a smirk.

Chichi was in full agreement. "And I honestly could have used the humbling. I was a little full of myself beating Jackie."

Tien looked at the two of them for a moment, before nodding. Roshi raised a brow for a moment. "So, where do you plan to go? Three years can be a long time. You could stay with me, if you can put up with Launch's cooking."

"YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH HOW I COOK, OLD MAN?!" Launch shouted, making Roshi flinch in fear.

Tien just had a nervous look, before clearing his throat. "As much as I appreciate the offer, and me Chiaotzu may have gone against master Shen's wishes, we are still part of his school. I don't know if we could be allowed to switch. We'll find a place, somewhere…"

"Well, we should still celebrate your win." Roshi suggested. "How about a feast?"

Goku and Gine had excited looks. "Sounds great!"

Tien smiled. "Sure, as long as it's my treat."

Krillin smirked. "Guess Goku gets half of your prize money after all."

Tien looked at him in confusion, as the group all made their way to the restaurant. But as they were going inside, a look of realization filled Goku's face. "W-wait… I forgot my dragon ball and power pole! I'll be back!"

Krillin stopped him however. "Let me, Goku. I know the way back."

"But… I'm the one who forgot." Goku argued, only for his stomach to growl.

Krillin chuckled. "You just eat. I'll be back." Krillin insisted as he ran off.

Goku gave a small smile. "Thanks Krillin!" he called out.

"Save some for me!" Krillin shouted as he ran off. Goku watched as he left. He didn't know why, but he had a bad feeling.

Everyone just sat at the table, waiting for Krillin. When they got tired of waiting, they all began to eat, save for Goku, who was more worried about Krillin, as he had been gone too long.

Tien noticed the look on Goku's face. "What's wrong with you, Goku?"

Goku didn't answer, as it felt like everything froze, as he felt he could hear Krillin, calling out for him to help. Fear spread across his face as he ran off in an instant.

Everyone looked at this in shock. "Goku?!" Chichi asked.

"What's he doing?" Ox king said in confusion.

Gohan and Roshi seemed nervous. Something wasn't right. The group took off after Goku, worried at how Goku was acting.

Goku was running towards the stadium, and went into the main building. "Krillin!" he called out, only for there to be no answer, as he went inside.

His eyes went wide in shock and horror at what he saw. The announcer and Krillin were on the floor. Only, Goku didn't see Krillin breathing.

"Krillin!" he cried out as he ran to his friend. "W-wake up! Please!"

The announcer struggled to pull himself up. "It… it was a monster… some kind of demon with wings… it… it took a ball and a list of names from the tournament…" he groaned.

Goku however didn't listen, as he tried to wake Krillin up more, only for reality to set in. "H-he's… he's gone…" he looked down at Krillin's lifeless body. "I-its all my fault…" tears began to well up in his eyes.

"Goku!" Roshi called out as the others found him, only to be shocked by what they saw.

"N-no… no way…" Chichi said as she began to cry.

Launch began to tremble, as tears began to fill the normally violent girl's eyes. "Don't… don't tell me he's…"

Goku looked down, making it so no one could see his eyes as tears ran down his face. "He's dead…"

This gave everyone horrified looks. "It can't be…" Yamcha struggled to say.

Gine went over to her son. "S-sweetie… are you… okay?"

Goku said nothing, as his whole body trembled as he clenched his fists, his whole body shook as he was filled with sorrow and rage. Suddenly, a storm began to surge outside.

This came as a complete shock to everyone there, as the sky was clear only moments ago. "What… what's happening…" Bulma asked.

"Whatever it is, I don't like it…" Oolong whimpered.

Goku just continued to shake with rage as pressure began to build up around him. Tears flooded his eyes as he looked at Krillin, who died because he forgot his dragon ball and power pole. Guild ate away at him, along with his rage and sorrow. His hair began to flash yellow, as a golden light slowly enveloped him.

Gine couldn't believe what she was seeing. "N-no way… could… could the legends be true?" she asked herself as she felt her legs tremble beneath her. "It's supposed to be a myth… a bedtime story for children…"

Goku reached the breaking point, as he let out a massive roar, creating a shockwave that nearly knocked people off their feet as his hair became completely golden, and his eyes became blue.

Everyone felt like they had to be seeing things, as Goku seemed to change before their very eyes. The look of rage on Goku's face made them, for the first time, feel actual fear towards him, as none of them had ever seen him like this. But then, Goku suddenly went back to normal, before passing out on the floor, as the power that form had was too much for him.

Bulma went over and helped him up. "What was that…"

"No idea… he just pulled a Launch and turned blonde." Oolong responded, as he too was in shock.

Gohan saw the look on Gine's face and went over to her. "Gine, what's wrong?"

Gine didn't respond, as she just looked at her son. "It's true… my son, Kakarot, had just become a super saiyan…" she thought to herself, completely in shock as she fell to her knees. Her mind went back to what Bardock said before she and her son left.

"Listen Gine, I think Frieza plans to destroy the planet and wipe out the Saiyans." Bardock told her.

"W-what? Why?" Gine couldn't understand this.

"I think… I think he is worried about the legend of the Super Saiyan..." Bardock told her.

He sees Gine with a look of confusion. "Why would he be worried about that? It's just a legend. A children's story." Gine said. She felt that the idea of a bedtime story making someone scared was ridiculous.

It wasn't a story. It was real. The myth Frieza feared came true. And Gine couldn't find the words to express how she felt at that moment.

With Krillin dead, and Goku unlocking this new power, but unable to control it, what will they do now? Who was the one who killed Krillin, and why? Find out next time, on Dragon Ball ZMX.

And that does it for this chapter. We are finally getting to the big story changes, now that Goku has become a super saiyan. I hope you all are excited for what comes next, as we start the King Piccolo Saga.

Also, I have decided to have a few ideas from other what ifs, even if I don't use those what ifs themselves. So keep your eyes open for when that happens.
