Just a few notes before reading.
1. I don't write these with the conventional designs I mind, I visualized the characters in a more Zootopia style rather than the 'cube' design.
2. Pay attention to OC-Tommy's breed, it's a real blink and you'll miss it reference.
3. Chloe is a doctor, that's also a reference to one of Disney's other shows. Let's see if the readers know.
4. Just a random bit of world building here. Lila married into the Heeler family before Jean-luc in this story.
Okay that's all I hope you enjoy this first part.
"Ellie and Daniel"
"Three little men in a flying saucer,
Flew around the world one day.
They looked left and right,
but they didn't like the sight.
And then they flew away~" Two children, small Blue Heeler/Labrador mix, and an adult Blue Heeler sang in a car together.
"I don't understand why Mum didn't like that song." The Blue Heeler, Bluey Labrador-Heeler to be specific, at the wheel of the vehicle said to herself.
"We love it!" The two kids shouted at the same time in the backseat.
"Alrighty then, kids, you remember that Dad and I are gonna be working late today?"
"Yes, Mum." They said in unison.
"Okay, that's means that Aunt Bingo is picking you up today, got it."
"Oooh. Ellie, guess what?" The boy asked.
"What Danny?" The younger sibling asked.
"That means we get to play with Aunt Lila too!" Danny said excitedly.
"Oh I love Aunt Lila." Ellie followed.
The car kept going until it finally reached Ellie's Kindy school. The Blue Heeler parked the car and all three dogs in the car unbuckled and exited.
"Mum, can I ask a question?" Danny asked.
"But you just did buddy." Bluey replied.
"Mum!" Danny complained.
"Okay. What is it?" Bluey laughed.
"Who's your favorite? Me or Ellie?"
"I don't have one."
"What?" Both kids asked in unison.
"Comes with being a parent, we don't have favorite kids, your dad and I just love both of you equally." Bluey continued.
"Well that seems silly." Danny said.
"I like it." Ellie countered.
"That means no matter how good you are at things, Mum will always love both of us the same amount." she continued to declare.
"Ellie that doesn't mean I don't like the things Daniel could do. I could like the small things, but when it comes to the whole picture, I'll never choose one over the other." Bluey said.
"Oh Okay." said the younger child, feeling bad of belittling her brother's niches.
"It's fine, you'll figure it out more as you get older. See you later Ellie, don't give Aunt Bingo a hard time." Bluey waved as Ellie went inside the school building.
"Bye Mum, Bye Danny." she waved back.
"Okay. Your turn." Bluey turned to Danny.
"Horray! Tommy and Georgette said we'd play Dragons and Princesses together." Danny said excitedly, as they made their way back to the car.
"I never thought Georgette would play something like that. I mean, unless she's the princess." Bluey mumbled that last part to herself.
Georgette was Judo's daughter. And it showed most of the time. Sometimes she's a bit snobbish, but mostly means well when it comes to playing with Ellie and Danny. Tommy was an American Foxhound/English Setter mix, but wasn't related to any of Bluey's friends, but he was a good kid all the same.
After the car ride to Glasshouse Primary School, Bluey dropped off Danny. As per usual he would leave the car, greet the teacher, run off and gave Tommy, and Georgette hugs, and they school day would officially start for him. With her part done, Bluey went back to the car. And her work day would officially start.
On the way to work Bluey dialed her husband. As she waited the radio started playing one of her Dad's songs, "Funky Again".
"Oh I love this one."
As she tapped her fingers to the song the phone finally dialed.
"Bonjour Amour." Jean-Luc said on the other end through the car speakers.
"Bonjour Babe. Remember you get off earlier than me don't forget to pick up Ellie and Daniel from Bingo's." she reminded him.
"Right. I remember, thanks amor. I'll have dinner most likely cooking when you get back. Love you Amour." Jean-Luc said.
"Love you too." Bluey hung up the phone. She took a deep breath.
"It's gonna be a very long day today." she mentally prepared herself for her extended hours.
Similar to her Dad's previous job, she works more proactively than Jean-Luc, she worked in landscaping. Jean-Luc worked as a teacher for high school, teaching foreign kids english language and translation.
Time skip to after school, because author can't write work days properly. (Sorry readers).
The kids were finally out of school for the day. Many already picked up by their parents, Ellie had to wait a bit longer for Bingo. But either way she was excited to play with her Aunt for the day.
"Ellie!" Bingo called out from a distance.
"Auntie Bingo!" Ellie called back.
"Sorry I'm a bit behind, traffic got bad back home. Aunt Lila is picking up Danny, so things are a bit sped up." she explained.
"It's okay. I can't wait to play when we get to your house."
On the other hand Danny didn't have to wait long for Aunt Lila. He saw her, waved bye to Tommy and Georgette, and ran to her and gave her a big hug.
"Hey Danny, how've you been?" she asked enthusiastically.
"Really good Auntie Lila."
"Well then it's about to get even better. Come on let's go." Lila said as she held Danny's hand on the way to the car.
Despite Bingo's lateness, her and Lila managed to get back to Bingo's home at the same time.
"Hey Sweetie." Lila greeted.
"Hey Babe." Bingo replied.
They quickly kissed each other's cheeks and Bingo continued to unlock the door to their house. The kids, full of energy, just ran in. The first thing they did was, plop down on the floor.
"Wow. You kids tired?" Bingo asked.
"No." they said in unison.
"You have a really soft floor." Ellie said.
"It's very comfortable." Danny continued.
"Right. I'll get dinner and the slow cooker ready. You'll keep the kids entertained while I do that right Babe? That is if they stop enjoying the new carpet you brought in." Bingo asked Lila.
"Of course. These pups will love what I have in store when they get up." Lila whispered.
Hours later with Jean-luc
Jean-luc was in the school library almost done with his extra tutoring class. He was returning a few books his students were finished with for his class. However, he ran into a girl. She looked to be a Beagle/Border Collie mix. He knew she was one of Bluey's friends' kids. But he always forgot their names.
"Hey Jean-luc I mean Mr. Labrador-Heeler." she greeted.
"Hi…Um. I'm sorry I forgot your name again." he apologized.
"That's okay. I'm Nora, my mom is Honey, and my dad is Mackenzie. Bluey's friends." she explained.
"Right. What bring you here?"
"Oh. I'm here for the new issue of Vicious Dogpaw."
"You read those comics?" he questioned.
"Yeah, I love the American imports. They get the extra pages at the end so I don't have to deal with 'To Be Continued', and the manufacturer adds extra concepts that didn't make it to the final print." she explained.
"Huh. And Australian High Schools just casually get it?"
"Actually yes. This school is one of the few to."
"Alright then. I have to go and pick up my kids from Bluey's sister's. See you tomorrow Nora."
"Wait! Mr. Labrador-Heeler. Why don't you read the first issue? I have it right here. You can borrow it, but I have to return it next week." she held out the first issue of the comic book.
"Um. Sure I'll try it." he took the comic from the younger dogs hand.
"Alright have a good day Jean-luc!" she waved as she walked off.
Jean-luc looked at the comic. It had a Wolf on the cover, holding a sword, and in the background were spaceships in battle.
"This should be an…interesting read to say the least." he said to himself.
Jean-luc now at Bingo's
Jean-luc knocked on the door. He waited a few seconds and then Lila opened the door.
"Hi Jean-luc."
"Hey Lila, are Ellie and Danny here?"
"Yeah. But I'll have to warn ya. I gave them something special today." she said with anticipation.
"What?"
"Ellie! Dad's here!" they heard Danny shouted.
The next thing he knew, Jean-luc was tackled by his kids in animal onesies. Ellie was a lion, and Danny was an alligator.
"Qu'est-ce que c'est? Kids, you've uped and turned into wild animals." Jean-luc said playfully.
All the adults started laughing as the kids 'mauled' their dad. Bingo walked over and attempted to tame said kids.
"Alright kids. Calm down you'll lose the dinner I spent all day cooking. Now go grab your stuff." she said as she picked up Ellie off of the Labrador.
"Okay Aunt Bingo." they complied.
"Alright, thank you for watching them. Bluey and I really appreciate it." Jean-luc told Bingo.
"Anytime Jean, besides we're probably the most convenient you're gonna get."
"Convenience is an understatement." Jean-luc laughed.
"Yeah, more like a saving grace." Lila cut in.
"We're ready." the kids called while walking out in front of their father.
"Right. Once again merci, and we'll call you again when we need to. Kids, say bye to Aunt Bingo, and Aunt Lila." Jean-luc said while walking towards the car.
"Bye!" both children waved.
"Bye kids." Bingo and Lila waved back.
On the drive back Jean-luc played some music. Humming the miscellaneous tune that came on.
"So how was your visit to Aunt Bingo and Lila kids?" Jean-luc asked.
"Oh! It was amazing!"
"Super cool!" Both kids said at the same time.
Jean-luc laughed at the scene. It was always amazing how much they said in unison. Whether or not if it was the same words.
"Aunt Lila bought us these onesies." Ellie started.
"And Aunt Bingo cooked this meal called 'pork roast'? It's not like anything you or Mum make."
"But was it good?" Jean-luc asked.
"Yeah!" the kids yell unison.
Jean-luc chuckled again.
After most of the Labrador-Heeler family came home, they set down their things and Jean-luc made his way to the kitchen.
"I know you kids are at Aunt Bingo's, but I'll make extra food just in case because it's still a bit aways before bedtime." he explained.
"Merci Papa!"
"Thanks Dad!" The kids say while making their way to their room.
Jean-luc got pots and pans gathered and took out noodles from the cupboard. It didn't take him long to get started on spaghetti, nice and simple. Mostly for his wife to eat and head straight to bed when she got home.
And hour or so passes by and Jean-luc hears the front door open. He continues to cook. He hears the door close. He still cooks, while waiting for something to happen.
He feels a pair of arms wrap around his waist, and a snout rest on the divot between his neck and shoulder. He smiled, his tail started wagging, and his mood lifted much more. Bluey kissed Jean-luc's cheek. After that she just groaned a bit.
"Tough or Busy day?" he asked.
"Hectic." she replied.
"I'm just about done, kids had dinner at Bingo's. If we're lucky the kids are asleep, or tired enough to wish you good night and then be off to bed."
"You're really great." she says, deadpanned.
"I know. Helps that I have a really awesome wife as well." he smiled as she chuckled.
"How much do you want?" he asked.
"A lot."
"Okay."
Some time passes, Ellie and Daniel came out of their rooms and had a small plate of extra dinner. After which Jean-luc gave them a bath, while Bluey went into their personal bathroom to take a shower.
While all is said and done Jean-luc tucked the kids into bed, wished them good night, and went into his own bedroom. Bluey is still in the shower at this time. With nothing else to do, he reached into his bag he uses for work, and takes out the comic Nora handed him. He gets into his bed and starts to read it.
Half an hour passes, Bluey finally gets out of the showers. She notices Jean-luc reading his comic.
"What's that you're reading?" she asked.
"Oh I ran into Honey and Mackenzie's kid, Nora. She said that this comic was really good, 'Vicious Dogpaw'. So far it's…interesting to say the least."
"Oh How far are you?" she asked a bit enthusiastically.
"I'm about half way of the first book. And what Dr. Monica does to Ryan…oh boy."
"She is vicious. I mean he definitely deserved it though." she explains.
"Yeah I guess so. Mais merde, she does a number on him."
"Yeah she does." Bluey trailed off.
"So why was today hectic for you?" Jean-luc asked while marking his place in the book and setting it down.
"Oh. Jason messed up badly. Then some equipment fell on him and got his leg, so we had to send him to the hospital. Chloe says he'll be fine he just won't be in for a few weeks. And that means I'll be working extra hours until then." she explained as she laid on the bed next to him.
"Oh. Ça craint. If it makes you feel any better, I've been looking into my schedule and I'll be able to pick up Ellie and Daniel every day." Jean-luc comforted.
"Thanks." she smiled.
The couple proceeded to lay down and get ready to sleep. As was well, until Bluey turned.
"Jean-luc?"
"Oui Amour?"
"Can you hold me tonight?" she asked timidly.
"Yeah. Of course."
Bluey and Jean-luc rearranged their bodies so that they were spooning. Bluey in Jean-luc's arms. Both dogs fell asleep with smiles, and wagging tails.
And that makes one of hopefully many fan chapters of Bluey in the future I want to work on. If you enjoyed it, let me know, if not tell me how I could improve. (Please be nice about it.)
Anyway thank you very much for reading.
Have a great Day/Evening/Night, and take care.
