Contradiction
The translucent smoke of an incense stick coiled in the air. A thin trail curled around her before disappearing into the grey-white fog that surrounded her.
"I'm sorry grandpa," Kagome pressed a palm to her face. "I don't think I can smile this time."
Her eyes watered as she peered at the image of his gap-toothed grin.
Pneumonia.
Out of all the things in this world to strike him down, it'd been pneumonia. He'd been stubborn and refused to go see a doctor to boot. Even when his coughing grew so ragged that it became painful just to hear it. She'd tried so hard to convince him to go, but if her grandfather had been anything it was stubborn.
Even when the world is falling apart around you, just keep facing it with a smile. So long as they can't take that, then you'll never lose control.
He told her those words once.
She tried to take them to heart. Truly, she did.
The other guests huddled together. She recognized several of them. People who'd been her neighbors and friends through her childhood stared over at her as if she had somehow morphed into a demon before their very eyes.
There she is.
Don't look at her, she might attack you.
You don't really think she knew, do you?
Her teeth gnashed together. Their words resounded in her ears. The first time she'd felt this sort of pain in her chest was when her mother and unborn brother died. They both passed away during the delivery. Souta never got the chance to see the outside world. Nor did she ever get the chance to fill the role of 'big sister' like she once believed that she would.
Her father had left with her mother the day she was due. However he never came back. She lost both of her parents that day. One to death and the other was so deep in his despair that he couldn't bring himself to face her.
The only family she'd had left was her grandfather. For so many years it'd just been the two of them.
Now even that was gone.
Her grandfather had passed away.
With his life, so too did the happy memories they once shared vanish.
The day after he died everything changed again. Even the memories she bore of her family had been shattered.
News of her father's true identity had been revealed to her via a reporter that'd stormed the shrine. She didn't know who the reporter was, nor which station they were with. All she could remember were the bright flashes of light, a microphone being shoved in her face and the pointed questions about how she felt towards her father's vile actions.
She hadn't even known anything about it then.
She hadn't known how many lives he'd taken or the alias he'd donned. All she knew was that the name 'Shinigami' had terrified the masses long before she'd been born. How could she possibly have been connected to such a thing? How could her father, who'd only shown her warmth, love and kindness in the years that he'd raised her, ever have been such a monster?
She had to have known. There was no way she didn't.
Her fingers gripped into white-knuckled fists.
She'd come to the funeral because her grandfather was the only person she'd had left. If she didn't show her face now then she would never be able to step outside of the shrine again. She had to do this.
Kagome knew that she likely didn't have the strength to smile. She might never again. At the very least, she would confront this new reality. She would face this world that would sneer at her. She would charge headlong into the anger, the resentment and the vitriol ready to be aimed at her.
If there was one thing her grandfather had taught her, then it was to never give up no matter how hopeless a situation seemed.
She tipped her chin up.
She wanted to make a difference.
For every life her father had slain, she would save another in his stead.
It wasn't much. It wouldn't bring back the people he'd slaughtered, but at the very least she could make the first step in achieving atonement for her family's name. The name which her father had bore—the one he'd chosen for himself. The one he'd forsaken his birth name for.
Kagome focused her gaze on the portrait of her grandfather's wide grin.
Even without a smile, she wouldn't lose hope.
Not ever.
Kagome blinked. The world slowly came into view as her consciousness returned to her once more.
It'd only been about three years since then. Her grandfather passed away the day she'd turned fifteen. Then news of her father's identity hit the public right afterwards. Things had become so difficult that for a long while, she even forgot how to smile. Her body became wracked with intense fevers that'd put her in the hospital for close to a year. When she was finally released, she'd pushed herself into overdrive to compensate for the lost time. She'd applied and gotten into U.A. but each day at the school had been a struggle. She'd always been falling behind others. It was as if everyone else kept charging so far ahead of her that she could no longer keep up. Her body broke and struggled—collapsing every time she pushed her quirk far beyond its limit.
If what Chisaki said was correct then it was little wonder she could only use Crystallize for so long before her limbs went numb and her vision blurred. It was the same thing as poisoning herself. The only barrier keeping Black Abyss from running amuck was the quirk she'd inherited from her mother.
Kagome glanced at her palms.
She had to do something. She couldn't keep floundering like this. Especially not where Eri's safety was on the line.
Her lips thinned at the thought.
Eri had managed to escape Chisaki once before. She'd broken free and had been able to charge up the mountainside of the Higurashi Estate on her own. The child was tough. Much tougher than she was at that age. So long as she could give the girl the opportunity to break free, then she knew that Eri would be able to permanently escape this hell hole.
Her hands began to tremble at the thought.
Chisaki wouldn't kill her. At least not permanently. If anything he'd tear her apart with his quirk before piecing her back together as punishment. He needed her. Whether he'd admit it or not, the man was relying on her to keep the Shie Hassaikai functioning.
So she'd take the risk.
She would bear the brunt of his anger and provide a single chance for Eri to make a break for it. If she could just spare one person from their pain and suffering, then that'd be good enough.
The only real question would be if Chisaki would fall for such an obvious ruse. Clearly she had no experience in the art of seduction, but perhaps that would be her greatest weapon of all. Chisaki thrived on the notion of asserting himself over her. She'd picked up on it the few times they'd been intimate together previously, as well as last night.
There was something possessive about the way he looked at her. It was in the slight touch of his fingers to the back of her neck—much like a stamp of ownership over her flesh.
Maybe taking advantage of those feelings would be her best course of action.
Kagome lifted her gaze to the door. The heavy sound of his footsteps carried over so easily.
Today, she would officially start her mission.
By month's end, Eri would be free.
She'd make sure of it.
Chisaki glanced at the door that separated him from his captive.
There'd been a change in Kagome last night. It was subtle but he hadn't missed it. Whether she realized it or not, the woman was no longer looking at him with the eyes of a naïve adolescent. She'd looked at him with the eyes of a woman who was yearning for something more.
His fingers twitched at the thought.
His plan wasn't perfect.
He'd screwed up by allowing Kagome to enter the same room as Eri without his direct supervision. He would follow through on his promise to grant her full reign over the girl's care. This time he would simply keep watch from a much shorter distance.
His hand gripped the handle to her door.
First, they had a few other things to tend to.
He slid it back.
Kagome was already awake. She was perched along the edge of the bed. Her legs were crossed over her knees, exposing a small amount of her thigh to his view. The young woman leaned back on her palms as her azure gaze scanned him coolly.
She still bore an edge of resentment but this time her eyes took on the slight heat of desire.
Kagome could deny it all she wanted to. Chisaki already knew that she was attracted to him sexually on some level. He would do everything he could to use that knowledge to his advantage. Even if she had wanted him without restraint, she was still naïve when it came to sex. The next step in his plan would require some meticulous and precise moves on his part. She would be much too inexperienced to know what to do.
"You're earlier than I expected." A light smile played upon her lips. It wasn't as soft as the one she'd given him when they first met, but it did bear the weight of the tension slowly building between them.
Chisaki came to a stop before her, "I did promise you, didn't I?" He lifted his palm and pressed it against the side of her face. It was the shadow of an affectionate gesture. Something he knew he needed to do, yet the emotions weren't quite as benevolent as the action denoted.
Kagome made no move to lean away from his touch.
"That you did." He felt the tips of her fingers glide along his forearm sensually. Already the need to push her back upon the mattress began to filter into his mind. Thoughts of those same fingers dragging down his back filled him. He wanted to be enveloped by her. He wanted to feel her beneath his body, writhing with an insatiable desire. He wanted her to completely submit herself to him.
Chisaki focused his attention on the soft swell of her lips. He needed control. He was not some baseless animal that couldn't keep a lid on his urges.
The man leaned down. He slanted his mouth over hers gently. He purposefully held back. What Kagome needed right now was the assurance that she could form some sort of emotional connection with him. He knew that her bonds with her friends were what really held her together for so long. To make her pliant to his will, he would have to replace them in her heart.
There was only one way he could achieve that.
"We'll be leaving the compound today," Chisaki drew back long enough to trace the pad of his thumb along her bottom lip sensually. "You have a request that still needs fulfilled. Originally I was going to retrieve everything you needed myself but I believe that this would benefit us both." His gaze narrowed at the spark of curiosity in her expression. "I needn't remind you of the caution you must exercise while we're out."
Kagome braced both of her palms over his wrists. Before he would've thought nothing of such an action. Now he knew that it could easily be an act of affection or a dangerous threat depending on the woman's mood.
He couldn't let his guard down.
Her features softened, "Understood."
Chisaki slanted his mouth over hers much more firmly that time.
It wasn't perfect but Kagome was giving him a chance. That was the only thing he needed at the moment. The rest would fall into place naturally.
When the trust she had in him returned, he would claim her as no other man before had.
She would be his.
Kagome relaxed her shoulders beneath the weight of Chisaki's arm. It was the same as before when he'd led her from the alleyway back to the Shrine. His grip was similar to a vice, only this time she was much more aware of the true meaning behind this action. It wasn't merely an assertion of his interest. It was an iron bar the held her in place—preventing her from making a bold escape.
The young woman leaned into his side.
Fortunately for him, she had no such plans at this time.
"Let me know if you tire too quickly," Chisaki dropped his mouth next to her ear. "I know that this is likely not comfortable for you."
She tugged at the straps that held her face mask in place. It was just a simple, black colored one in contrast to the familiar plague mask he donned on himself. Chisaki had requested she wear it to avoid being identified in public. She also was given his coat to wear. He'd pulled the hood over her head and kept her close to his side as they walked.
Kagome kept her steps measured and slow beside him. The last thing she needed was to make him suspicious. It was still too early to make a move.
"I'm fine for now." Azure eyes scanned the area cautiously. "But are you sure this is alright? We have more to worry about than just heroes."
The memory of Dabi's intense flames burned in the back of her mind.
Why couldn't she shake the memory of him from that night?
Chisaki's arm coiled around her intently, "You needn't worry. People are stupidly oblivious. Simply take a look around you to see for yourself."
Kagome instinctively glanced up.
All around them people busied themselves with their day-to-day lives. They were absorbed in their own issues that none of them cast her a second glance. Only a few looked their way. The ones who did were immediately staring at Chisaki's plague mask in curiosity and distaste. No one seemed to even notice her existence at all.
His tone took on a sharp sneer, "Humans are filthy creatures. They're ignorant and diseased. Even now, you're standing before them and yet they haven't taken a second glance." His palm slid down the length of her arm, "This is the same society that rejected you over and over again. At this moment they're continuing to reject you."
She did not stop the small flush that crossed her face as he pressed himself against her.
"You can have more than that. You can become more."
His words were the truth.
Right now she knew that he wasn't lying.
People didn't notice her because they didn't want to. With her face covered and hood over her head, only someone familiar with her would be able to recognize her now. She couldn't count on that to happen though. This district was close to the Higure Shrine but most of the other students would've been moved into the dorms by now. Anyone that could've spared her the opportunity to escape was gone. She couldn't rely on anyone else but herself.
"I didn't take you just because of the money," Chisaki began to walk forward. She trailed after him easily. "I did it because I knew that you were drowning. It was obvious when we talked that day." His arm shifted to hold her at her waist, "You were trying so hard but the world as a whole wanted nothing to do with you. They rejected you as a hero. Yet you rejected the path of a villain. Now, you still have one choice left."
Kagome didn't speak.
He was right.
Even if she did go back, what would be waiting for her? The only thing she'd ever thought about since she was brought to the Shie Hassaikai was helping Eri escape. Yet what about afterwards? What would she do then? Attempt to leave as well? Where would she go? Who could she trust?
Shigaraki wanted her apart of his group for many different reasons. Still she had her reservations about joining up with him. She had no desire to kill nor cast any more shame upon her family's name. They'd already suffered enough thanks to her father's heinous acts.
"Consider what I'm offering you." Chisaki brought them towards a small building tucked away at the corner of a shopping center. "For now let's get what you need. We'll discuss this in more detail back home."
Home.
Somehow, that word didn't settle quite right with her.
Azure eyes met gold.
She didn't think the compound could ever become a home to her no matter how much Chisaki tried.
"We'll see about that."
Sir Nighteye pressed his back against the wall. He glanced around the corner as his brows furrowed.
There was no mistake.
That was Kagome.
In their previous reconnaissance missions, they were able to figure out just how cautious of an individual Overhaul truly was. The man wouldn't have brought her out of the compound for any reason unless he felt that her security was guaranteed. He would keep her well insulated from any threat of outside attacks. He also would know that they were in hot pursuit by now.
His eyes narrowed at the thought.
The fact that she was outside now meant that he felt that this was the best option available to him. The young woman had only been missing for a short time but being held underground without access to direct sunlight would affect anyone's general disposition.
Overhaul must've deemed this as a necessary outing for the girl's mental health.
"Should we approach?" Bubble Girl peered over his shoulder.
He held up his hand, "No. For now we wait." His eyes narrowed as he took in the odd body language between the two. "If we try to move in too early he'll likely go into hiding at a different location. It'll become even more difficult to rescue her if she's being shifted to a separate hideout."
There was something strange happening between them.
The way Overhaul was looking at her now caused his stomach to twist uncomfortably.
The way his hands slid over her body was intimate. Keeping her close to him was one thing but he hardly gave her space enough to walk, let alone breathe.
Had things already progressed too far?
Sir Nighteye took in the young woman's expression. It was partially covered by the face mask she'd been forced to wear but he could spy the slight pinching of her brows. Each time Overhaul leaned close to her, azure eyes would flicker to life with a silent fury. A mixture of emotions flittered over her expression before it'd fall back into a state of controlled stoicism.
"We need to move quickly." His voice dropped as he watched them wander off. "I do not believe that she'll hold out much longer."
If Overhaul successfully seduced Kagome then their efforts would be for naught.
His hands tightened into fists.
They would save her before then.
That was their only choice.
He'd gotten careless.
Chisaki glowered at the shadows that followed them.
One hero and a sidekick.
On their own they weren't much of a threat but he wasn't about to be interrupted. Not when they had so much on the line.
The man dipped his head towards his companion's ear, "We must leave."
Kagome didn't question him. She simply gathered up the few small bags of their purchases and tailed after him. The young woman followed his lead without a word. A question wrote itself across her brow.
"I'll explain once we return. For now we must hurry." He brought her down several of the back alleys. It wouldn't do to lead a rat straight back to their home. He would use one of the auxillary buildings nearby attached to their underground labyrinth. If the hero had the gall to stalk them in plain sight, then he would do everything he could to make it that much harder to track them.
Kagome followed him wordlessly. He felt her hand grip at the cloth of his shirt tightly. He slid his arm around her waist and held her against him more firmly.
Securing her was his top priority. The heroes wouldn't attack if they weren't sure of her successful extraction from him. So keeping them at bay would depend on his ability to ensure her safety.
Chisaki ushered them inside an old warehouse. It'd been long since repurposed into a storage unit for the Shie Hassaikai. Much of their unused equipment was left here to rot to give the pretense of an abandoned facility. They took care of a few basic maintenance issues, but other than that it was only meant for hiding their escape routes.
He slid a brace over the door as they made their way inside.
"We'll use this to get back. Come on," He didn't have to reach out for her. Kagome was already at his side and sliding her arm up the small of his back. In her own way she was seeking a sense of security from him. Security that he was more than willing to provide at the moment. He would not risk losing her to the heroes. Not when they were so close to making his plans come to fruition.
They descended a hidden stairwell back into the labyrinth beneath the city.
His steps quickened as he pulled her closer to himself.
He would not rest until his goals were fulfilled.
That was the only thing that mattered.
Chisaki felt her hand grip at his shirt even more firmly. The muscle in his arm twitched in response.
Nothing else mattered.
Sir Nighteye glowered at the squat industrial building they'd slipped into.
There was no way Overhaul would expose their hideout so easily. He'd sensed them tailing after him and quickly made his escape with the girl. That was the only logical conclusion he could come up with.
It was unusual for Overhaul to take any sort of unnecessary risks. So this had been a rare chance for them to catch a glimpse of the kidnapped girl. Thus far she seemed healthy enough but her mental and emotional state was a complete mystery. His brows furrowed at the thought.
It was no secret that Kagome had struggled with her sense of identity since the revelation of her father's crimes. He'd done a bit of digging into her background. It was her connection to her friends that'd kept her from falling off the path of becoming a hero. She bore a tenacious personality that only reared its head in dire situations. It was also that tenacity that Stain had acknowledged.
Being held captive by a man like Overhaul was bound to have lasting effects on her already brittle self image. His body language had made it evident that he was interested in her sexually. Whether she returned that sentiment was something he couldn't be certain on. However if Overhaul managed to exploit her in such a way then their chances of rescuing her would dwindle into nothing. While haste would make for waste, he knew that they couldn't let this go on for much longer.
Kagome would not be able to hold out.
"Sir," Bubble Girl poked her out from behind him. "What do you want to do?"
He glanced at the abandoned warehouse, "We'll pull back for now. When need to clarify which facility they're holding her in." His eyes narrowed into thin slits. "I do not believe that Overhaul will be taking her out again anytime soon. So we'll work with what we know." He turned on the ball of his heel. "Call the other heroes in. It's time that we put our plan into action."
By month's end, they would save that girl.
Kagome glanced at the traditional style of the decorations that surrounded her. She'd never seen this room before.
"Where are we?" It was somewhat amazing just how different this area felt in contrast to the plain white walls that'd become her living quarters. When they returned to the compound, Chisaki had taken her down a completely different route than she was used to. At first she thought he was simply leading her in circles until they came upon this area.
Wall scrolls hung up on the space opposite of the bed. The scent of jasmine incense filled the entire space as she spun around to get a glimpse of everything. The whole space felt elegant. Tatami mats were placed upon the floor and all the furniture held a traditional style to it.
Chisaki led her towards a small seating area, "This is one of the spare bedrooms we have within the compound. I thought that it'd be best if we moved you to a place that was a little more… stimulating." His words caused her lips to press into a thin line.
She knew exactly what he was doing.
This wasn't some benevolent action on his part. Everything he did had a purpose. Every move he made was to serve a greater plan.
She, herself, had merely become a cog in that ultimate plan. Keeping her greased and well functioning was part of his higher ambition.
Kagome felt her fingers twitched at the thought.
To Chisaki, she was just a tool. Something for him to use for his own benefit. She did not hold any special emotion to him other than possessiveness. He guarded her like a dog would its most prized bone.
It wasn't what she wanted.
None of this was a path she would've chosen for herself.
Even if she had dropped out of U.A. in the end, Kagome knew that she never would've joined with the Shie Hassaikai under any circumstances. Chisaki's intellect was admirable, but he lacked a quality to his personality that removed the essence of humanity from him. Even now she knew that the only thing he was capable of feeling was possessiveness and domination.
She was just a thing that needed to be kept satisfied and protected.
Nothing more.
Her jaw clenched.
That was fine.
She would take advantage of that budding possessiveness. She would use herself to draw him into a false sense of security. Then, when he was at his most vulnerable, she would make her move. By the time he realized what was happening, it'd already be too late. Eri would be gone and he would be left with a single choice.
Kagome braced her palm along the small of his back, "Thank you."
She spoke the words softly and offered him a small smile.
It wasn't much but it'd be the first move of her plan.
Golden eyes thinned at her with the spark of lust.
She trailed the tips of her fingers along his back in the mere whisper of an affectionate gesture. When her hand fell away, Chisaki pulled the plague mask from his face. His arms coiled around her waist as he pushed her back against the wall.
The sharp slant of his mouth pressed against her own.
Kagome closed her eyes as she allowed him to do as he pleased.
This was necessary.
She would not fail.
Chisaki pushed her further up the wall.
His hands gripped at her thighs as he hitched them over his hips.
The woman was much more pliant than he'd expected her to be. He'd known that she'd been attracted to him at least. He'd picked up on that since their first meeting. Even the issue with Eri hadn't tempered that desire. In some ways, the tension between them had only grown. She was no longer quite as innocent as she'd been a mere few days ago. She'd changed. She was evolving into someone more willing to explore her budding sexuality.
Keeping her satisfied would be key in making his plans successful. However that did not mean that he couldn't enjoy himself in the mean time.
He felt her arms coil around his neck sensually.
Chisaki slid his tongue against the seam of her lips.
It wouldn't be long before the heroes made their move. He'd noticed Sir Nighteye following them earlier. They were getting more bold as the days passed. He needed to move his plan onto phase three before they attempted to raid the compound. Sure he could take Kagome and Eri and simply make a swift escape. However it'd be much easier if Kagome were attached to him emotionally.
Sex would be his tool to make that happen.
Even one night stands left a small impact on the people involved. For a woman like her, this first time would mean much more than she was letting on.
"Chisaki," She pulled back just long enough to speak his name. Her voice was breathy and full of the passion they'd both felt at the moment. A fire raged within his veins.
He would not deny the attraction he felt towards her.
Physically, she was nearly flawless. Her body bore an equal balance of muscle and curves. Her waist was cinched and gave the impression of a delicate frame. However there was power in her legs that indicated the true source of her strength. He felt her thighs quiver as he pushed himself further against her.
The man lowered his mouth towards her neck.
He scraped his teeth along her flesh. It was a mark. A stamp of proof showing who it was she truly belonged to. Not the heroes, nor the League. She was his.
She was his tool. His possession.
He would not allow another to merely take her from him.
Chisaki shifted. He took her wrists within his palms. In a single, fluid movement he'd pinned them against the wall beside her head. He gripped her tightly as he lost himself to the pleasure of her body pressed against him.
Soon, he would take her to his bed.
When that happened she would look to no one else. She would truly be his to control.
He nipped at her neck sensually.
His plan would not fail.
Kagome brushed her hand along the bruises that'd formed over her wrists. They weren't painful anymore but they were still a nuisance she didn't want to deal with. Chisaki hadn't held anything back when he'd pinned her.
"Guess he hadn't lied." She sighed to herself.
He really was going all in.
At least when it came to trying to seduce her. He took every chance he had to try to put her under him in some form. It wasn't that he was desperate but she could tell that he was getting impatient. It was almost as if something had spooked him.
Kagome pressed an index finger to her lips at that thought.
It'd been three days since Chisaki had taken her out of the compound. They'd been followed by someone but he never mentioned who. She supposed that he hadn't wanted her to be filled with any sort of hope that she'd be rescued. It was the expected outcome of their little outing, but Kagome still found herself disappointed. Had Eraser found them? What about Endeavor? Her fingers flexed at the thought.
Even if she never became a hero, she didn't want to abandon the few people who'd supported her.
The memory of a vicious smirk and the scent of gun powder came to the forefront of her mind.
"Just a little longer, Katsuki. I promise I'll be back soon." She curled her hands to her chest. He had to be wracked with guilt by now. She'd hung up on him the day Chisaki had stolen her. That moment would likely be the one she regretted the most. She could've asked him for help. She could've trusted him just that once. They'd both been through the fight at Kamino Ward together. They'd both been targeted by villains. The very least she could've done was offer him her trust. Yet she'd tried to run away from the pain she'd been feeling. That was something she couldn't forgive herself for. Not with all the suffering she must've inflicted upon him.
"I'll apologize appropriately when I get out of here." Even though she had a plan to help Eri escape, she still needed something for herself. Chisaki would either double down on his guard over her, or he would simply try to kill her. Either way there would be a fight. She would not able to avoid battling him seriously once the girl was free.
Azure eyes hardened at the thought.
She'd seen Eri a few times but nothing significant. Today however things were going to be different. It would be the first time Chisaki would permit her any extended period of time with the girl on her own. Before he would wait in the room with them while she tried to put Eri at ease. It'd been a useless endeavor with the man so near, so she demanded time away from him to make things go more smoothly. Chisaki had protested but in the end she won that argument with a little bit of logic and a fair bit of smoothing his ego.
When everything else failed, making the man feel superior in every way was the ultimate method of persuasion she had for him. It was somewhat annoying to know that she'd only made his ego that much larger, however the sacrifice was a necessary one.
Her eyes shifted towards the door. The sound of his heavy footsteps drew nearer to her room.
It wouldn't be much longer now.
Chisaki passed through the threshold wordlessly. He never announced himself anymore. He simply strolled in as if he no longer needed to ask for permission. Granted, he technically didn't as it was his house. This entire compound belonged to him—and in his mind, so did she.
Kagome tucked her leg over her knee, "You here to escort me or are you looking for something else this time?" She allowed a light smile to play upon her lips. Even if she didn't wish to be here a second longer, she'd let him thing he had her wrapped around his finger. She'd let him believe that he had right where he wanted her. When the time was right, she would spring her trap.
Chisaki came to a stop before her. His golden gaze narrowed in anticipation.
"That depends on what you want." He dropped his palm onto her shoulder before sliding it down the length of her arm.
She leaned into his touch.
"What I want huh?" She splayed her hands across the planes of his abdomen. "As much as I'd like to have a bit of fun right now, I'd rather keep my promise to Eri. I did tell her I'd be by early today."
It was still difficult to keep the slight edge of resentment out of her tone. She had to temper down her fury for the sake of this plan. Everything was riding on its success. If she seduced Chisaki but Eri was recaptured by other members of the Shie Hassaikai then they would lose the only chance they would have at setting her free. For Eri's sake, she would play pretend.
She would learn how to act.
For Eri's sake.
Chisaki glanced over her form. The glint of desire was evident in his gaze. He wasn't a man who was controlled by his baser needs, but he still had his moments.
"Then I suppose that we have no choice," He lowered his palm towards hers. "We'll save the rest for tonight."
"Oh?" Kagome responded simply, "I take it that you're visiting again?" Her lips curled even further upwards. "I think that's probably the third time this week you've come back."
That was right.
She would keep smoothing his ego over. She would keep making him feel wanted. No matter how much it caused her to twist uncomfortably inside.
Kagome pulled at his tie—tugging him down towards her.
Chisaki allowed her to do as she pleased. He leaned over her easily, slanting his mouth over hers sharply. There was no kindness in his kiss. There was no warmth nor affection. Merely the feeling of ownership. As if the act was just action he performed to remind her of the path she now found herself on.
Kagome gripped at the fabric of his coat.
She would need to talk to Eri soon. It wouldn't be long now before Chisaki took what he really wanted from her. She needed to make sure that Eri knew what to do when the time came. The moment Chisaki separated them would be the moment that Eri would become free.
She'd make sure of it.
