Chapter 2: A Prankster Ninja…
It was a sleepy Saturday in the Hidden Leaf Village. The bright chirping of birds rang throughout the province. Shopkeepers were opening stores for the day, and construction workers began repaving worn roads.
All across the village, shouts of anger, surprise, and shock rang out. People gathered around their homes, just silent. How could this even happen? Someone had defaced the entire Hokage Monument with bright paint, one of the most sacred places in the village! As people looked to the top of Hokage Mountain, a child wearing a bright orange jumpsuit could be seen giggling.
As civilians prepared to storm the monument, they saw multiple chuunin rushing to the child with severely pissed expressions on their faces.
"Finally, that damned demon might be killed once and for all," A merchant muttered. Villagers near him murmured their assent. As they watched the scene from below, people noticed that the little bastard of a demon wasn't arrested. He was trying to avoid his punishment!
"We got him this time!"
"He can't run now!" Shouts and commands flew through the air as the chuunin team attempted to chase Naruto down. The child in question was avoiding them with success, ducking into dark alleys and busy bazaars faster than they could follow him. Eventually, they lost track of the demon boy, who escaped with his superior knowledge of hiding spots.
"Damn it, we lost him again. I wanted to see his face when we drag him to prison this time!" An angry Chuunin muttered softly. The leader turned around to face him, as if he had the hearing of an owl.
"We all feel the same way you do, Satoru, but we gotta follow orders. I for one would like to beat him dead." With this declaration, others in the squad of 6 agreed.
"I wanted to see his face when he has to clean it up!" An extremely vindictive squad member exclaimed. "Well, I bet Iruka'll put that slimy little bastard to labor." With this statement, the band broke up, each heading towards their other, apparently more important duties.
"He he he, they'll never catch me!" A young boy - covered head to toe in orange - exclaimed, "I can't believe they fell for the old camouflage cover!"
The boy, Naruto, was giggling like a newborn baby, thinking the plight of the Chuunin was hilarious. As he jogged away from the Uchiha wall, he sensed that he was in great danger, like a pervert who was about to get caught.
Somewhere in Kaze no Kuni, a particular white-haired pervert sneezed, dropping his sake.
"Naruto! Why are you here? You should be in class!" An all too familiar voice yelled sternly.
The aforementioned boy whirled around, and his eyes widened seeing his academy teacher facing him.
Naruto grinned sheepishly, scratching his head, "Uhh… Iruka sensei! I - it's not what it looks like! I can explain…" He frantically looked around the small stalls, trying to devise a plan of escape. His sharp eyes spotted a dark alley with many points of exit. "I just have one thing to say… KABOOM!" He threw a smoke bomb and channeled chakra to his feet, giving himself a speed boost.
He glanced back at Iruka Sensei and saw him coughing black smoke. Just as the preteen reached the edge of the musty alleyway, he was grabbed from behind!
"Naruto! You're close to graduating, you NEED to get to class! Let's go." The elder shinobi spoke sternly.
"Ohhhh." The boy hung his head, the yellow mop of hair on his head slumping. He dragged his feet pathetically as the Schoolteacher dragged him to the red Academy gates.
