Chapter 11: Going Home

The next day was the horse-show.

Alex took one of her swords with her, no one really paid attention to her anyway.

They watched Michael riding his horse- the whole age group won.

They watched Mackie take second place, but no fae was around.

Later that afternoon, Charles, Anna, Max and Michael were going for a ride.

"Do you mind if I take a horse and ride on my own?" asked Alex.

"Not at all, I will get you a horse," said Max and they drove to the barn.

Alex got a black horse, very similar to her Midnight, although this one was a female.

She rode on her own, around the ranch, not very deep in to the desert. Her sword was attached to her belt on her waist.

On a horse in the desert, with a sword against her hip, for a moment she felt like in another time.

She sped her horse for a while and then turned back and slowed down.

'Alex, Charles is in trouble, I need you to stay away, where you are safe,'

'Sorry love, I can't do that,'

'Alex!'

Alex shut their bond almost completely, it hurt a lot, but she couldn't deal with Bran's feelings, when his son was in trouble and needed her.

She sped up to the ranch.

When she came in to the arena, she saw Charles and two more werewolves in wolf form on the ground, Mackie thrown a side with a horse guarding her, Joseph Sani, Hosteen's son and Charles' dying friend, was hurt on the ground too.

But more importantly, in the middle of the arena, was a huge green, nasty fae, with a knife stuck in his spine. Anna was on top of it, trying to kill it completely.

The fae turned his ugly head backwards and bit Anna's arm.

Alex stood on her saddle, her sword already in hand, and jumped to the ground, the horse kept galloping away.

She decapitated the fae, and Anna threw the head away and rushed to Mackie's side.

Alex hit the fae with angry strikes of her sword.

Again, and again and again.

Charles went to Joseph, to say goodbye, later she learned that Maggie was dead too, killed when she tried to protect her granddaughter.

There was no funeral, but the family was grieving and so was Charles, so they stay.

Alex sat on the couch, with Michael next to her when the door opened.

She rushed out of the living room and jumped on Bran.

He held her tightly, stroking her hair.

'I am so sorry I shut down our bond, I couldn't abandon Charles, I am sorry, I have missed you so much,'

'It wasn't fair of me to ask you to stay away when Charles was in trouble. I am sorry, I miss you so much, I love you little wolf,'

'I love you too, old brat,'

She kissed his lips softly.

"That's her boyfriend?" asked Max.

"Mate. He is also the Marrok," said Kage.

"Oh."

"Yeah," agreed Kage.

"I have some stuff-" started Bran.

"No, no, no." Alex shook her head.

"Here in the era, I am taking Moira to deal with some stuff, and then we can all go home, o.k.?"

A tear rolled down her cheek.

"I promise, I will be back in a few hours, and tomorrow or maybe the next day we will be on our way home," he said soothingly, wiping her tears away.

He kissed her and after paying respect to the Sanis he went to deal with all the cases Charles encountered while investigating Amethyst and the fae whereabouts.

When Bran came back to the ranch, Alex was in the shower.

He took off his clothes and slipped right in.

"I have missed you terribly," he whispered in her ear, getting under the water with her.

Alex kissed his lips, her tongue slipping in to his mouth and battling with his.

They made love in the shower, and after drying up they made love in the bed too.

After a long night of passionate love making, they fell in to a blissful sleep.

"Da? Alex? We are flying home today, we should be going," called Charles from behind the door.

"We will be down soon, son," grumbled Bran, still half asleep.

They heard him walk away.

"We need to go," said Bran, kissed her cheek and hoped in to the shower.

When Bran came out, Alex was still sound asleep.

He chuckled and kissed her cheek.

"You can sleep in the plane, go take a shower, I will prepare you some clothes to wear."

"Fine," she grumbled and went to take a shower.

Bran could barely take his eyes off of her naked body.

He shook his head to clear it, and put some jeans, white blouse, and socks on the bed.

He didn't do it all the time, but he enjoyed choosing Alex's clothes for her to wear.

When she came out of the shower, warped in a towel, his eyes burned in gold.

He cleared his throat. "I will wait downstairs, just… wear something, anything," the last bit he mumbled almost to himself as he rushed out the door.

Alex couldn't stop giggling.

"Da? Are you o.k.?" asked Charles.

"Yes. Just forgot how… well… oh, never mind,"

"Wow. The Marrok is in love, that's… something," Anna grinned.

Bran growled at her.

"Bran, be nice," said Alex from the entrance to the kitchen.

"No,"

"Yes," said Alex.

He frowned, and she kissed his nose.

"Want to grab something to eat before we headed home?" asked Anna.

"No, I am good, planning to sleep the whole flight anyway," said Alex.

"So let's go," said Charles.

They drove in two cars, and then headed to Seattle first by the plane, to drop off Moira and her mate, Tom. After that they flew home.

Alex was laying on a couch-like seat in the plane.

"Do you have some room for me?" asked Bran.

She grinned and moved over, patting the space beside her.

Bran smiled, and laid next to her, snuggling to her body.

She kissed his forehead softly, and while Bran drifted in to sleep, warped in her arms and her warmth, she stayed awake the whole flight.
