Chapter 13-

Charlie's POV-

No. This could not be true. My Bella couldn't be dead.

I fell to the ground in utter horror, Kate supporting me as I found myself unable to do. I had to be misunderstanding something. Bella was dead? No. No. I had just got her back. I could not lose her this soon again. Fate couldn't be that cruel to me!

"Charlie, please…"

"Please, what?" I cried the words out, tears that couldn't be contained leaking out. I had rarely ever cried before. I hadn't even cried the day Renee left me, taking Bella with her. Or when Bella had sat on that stupid chair for near three months in a state of catatonia. The last time I had cried was when my mother had left me alone, her body cold in the ground. And now, my daughter had left me alone, too.

It was so unfair.

I had somehow accepted and survived the loss of my parents, but this was my daughter! I had held her as a baby! I had brought her home from the hospital, watching her take that first step, or saying her first word…or simply laughing with her entire heart.

I couldn't deal with this.

I shouldn't have to deal with this.

No parent should.

It is just not how it should be.

"I am sorry." Kate murmured, Rosalie echoing her apology.

"How did this happen?" I accused the woman. I wasn't trying to be unsympathetic. They had been in a terrible accident. Rosalie too had severe injuries to account for. Only, she had been lucky enough to survive. My Bella hadn't.

"It was…so sudden." Rosalie cried out. "The truck came out of nowhere. I tried. I really did."

"Is that what really happen, Rose?" Carlisle Cullen frowned. "Your reflexes are rather…um…commendable?"

"My attention was diverted, Carlisle." Rosalie winced. "We were talking and…you know I have no special powers."

What special powers were they talking about?

"Carlisle," Alice interrupted. "I saw it happen. Rose could not have avoided it. She tried, though."

"Yes." Edward mumbled in agreement.

"Oh." Carlisle sighed, pulling his weeping wife closer to him. "Charlie, please accept our condolence."

"She has three small children." I sobbed. "What am I supposed to tell them? Their father already doesn't want them. I can't raise the three of them. I don't know how to. I hardly even raised Bella. Her mother did."

"They will always have a family with us." Carmen assured. "We are their family."

"I don't know…" I whispered.

"We should get married." Kate abruptly suggested.

"What?" I stared at her in disbelief.

Here my daughter was lying cold on the ground, and she wanted us to celebrate?

What was wrong with her?

"For the children, Charlie!" Kate rolled her eyes in annoyance. "They need a stable home, with a mother in it. I am not their biological mother, but I can offer them some love. We all can. But for that, I need to be your wife."

"I don't know." I did not have the energy to argue. I trusted her. If she thought something was needed…it probably was.

"I guarantee you nothing grand. Just a simple ceremony to make you mine forever." She promised, something sounding like 'only' hidden under a murmur.

Whatever.

I couldn't be bothered to think over it at the moment.

"I need some time alone." I nodded my head to myself, walking up the stairs, towards the guest bedroom. I would need to talk to the kids. I don't know what I would say…just…Bella, how could you do this to me?

It was not fair.

Kate's POV-

"I am getting him out of here." I announced to the room once Charlie was out of it. "We are not returning."

"But the children?" Carmen looked shocked by my declaration. Why?

Didn't she know me at all?

"Not my headache." I waved a hand in air. "I hadn't signed up for the babysitting."

I wanted Charlie.

I had no fucks to give for his daughter or her kids.

"Kate." Esme gasped. "Their mother is dead and their father doesn't want them."

"So, you raise them."

Was I supposed to feel sympathy for those silly humans?

"You know what, I actually will." She folded her arms over her chest. "We all will."

"Good." I smiled in victory. "After the marriage, I am changing Charlie. With some luck, he won't remember any of this nonsense."

"You will regret this." Carmen whispered. "One fine day, you will."

"Fat chance." I smirked. "You know what I won't regret? Having my husband to myself. You can deal with the crying, needy humans. I am not at all jealous!"

"What about the Volturi?" Tanya questioned. "I can't risk going against them."

"I say, let's get rid of the problem. Kill the children." Irina growled out, taking a step ahead.

"No." Rosalie shouted out in horror. "Nobody will touch them! I will kill anyone who tries to harm them!"

"Yes. Nobody will." Carlisle spoke in her favor. "I will talk to Aro. These are special circumstances. Also, Bella knew about us, and their only living relative is soon going to be one of us."

"Will they agree?" Esme appeared hopeful.

"We can try." Carlisle sighed. "But I promise you, we are not killing or abandoning these little ones. I will do everything in my power to keep them safe."

"I want nothing to do with this." Tanya stated. "In my coven…"

"Maybe, it is time for the coven to dissolve, then." Eleazar spoke up. "This is my house, legally."

"Fuck them, sis." Irina waved a hand in air. "We don't need this."

Tanya offered her agreement, looking slightly affected by this recent development, the emotional girl that she had always been!

Was I upset?

Not really.

I hardly liked the lot of them.

I couldn't wait to get away from them.

"Okay, then." I stated, "A quick marriage, and we all go our own damn ways."
