Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Black Hearted. Enjoy the 3000-word chapter. I don't own Warhammer, Games workshop and a few others do.

(Black Templar Strike Cruiser Divine Retribution)

She was greeted by a noise. Said noise? That was nothing more than the noise of a few gunshots that snapped her out of her stupor. There was so more chaos around her and almost anything that could go wrong would go wrong.

The sister was honestly curious about what was to happen as this came to an end. A bolter round turned them to the side as a daemon collapsed to the floor, freshly slain as they started to step towards her. There were dozens of smoke trails and screams and gunfire around the two as they seemed to engage each other.

Another daemon tried to charge at her only for a servo-filled weapon to greet it. The Chainsword exploded through their chest and then sent the creature screeching as they roared and then exploded into pieces.

"What in the emperor's name…?" They stated as an armored hand scooped the warrior up. "Die, you intrepid…" She started to state before realizing what was going on.

The figure was clad in armor. The trademark armor of the Astartes. Their right arm was lanced around the waist of the soldier and the other held his chain axe. He stared at the other soldiers while rushing into the smoke as more gunfire rained down into the smoke. It'd be an odd idea.

Still? he continued onwards with his cargo intact. He knew she'd object through the voxbox and that was exactly what she had done at the end of the day. It'd be beyond them both for now at the end of the day. What mattered was the mission and the best way to ensure the mission worked was if one of them survived to get it done.

She objected as he expected, though. He did not know if it was out of hatred for his kind or simply anger at the enemy of their faith escaping.

"Where are we going?! The battle!" They hissed to which there was a shake of the head.

They were about to speak up once more before the Astartes glanced at them. They lumbered over the sister who seemed more and more defiant at the second. It had been a lot more horrid than he believed it would be. There was more he couldn't exactly explain. A lot more that hadn't been brought to heel yet.

He sighed to himself before he looked around at his surroundings. There was more coming that he hadn't yet expected. It had been a lot more interesting at the time.

He leveled his head towards the sister and walked up to them. The servant of the emperor did not retreat as he expected her to.

"They were prepared for us. They led us into an ambush. If we were to stay? The traitors would slaughter us. Death for the emperor is one thing, senseless death and martyr ship is another." The Astartes stated before he raised his bolter towards the direction they had come.

The sister checked her San Leor-Pattern Jump pack. The wings had survived which was good. She looked at the Astartes before he turned and looked towards her. There was a lot more interest in the soldier who turned towards her, slowly pacing forward before he glanced around before he sighed to himself.

"We must move, the relic and its altar will not wait. There will be reinforcements eventually, but for now, we must make do with what we have." The Astartes stated before he slowly marched into the shadows.

The sister slowly followed behind him. She checked her bolter pistol as he turned.

"Where are the others?" She questioned to which the lenses on the helmet narrowed. "All of them?" She questioned to which a nod answered.

"If there was anyone left, I would have stood and fought. There is not. They were not kind to the survivors that hadn't been slain in combat."

"Then we should find a landing zone, call for reinforcements. There is nothing to be demanded of us besides completing the mission." The sister added to which he stared at her.

The Astartes were not stupid. Their faith matched the Black Templars. They were some of the best warriors within the emperor's army. It was something that had made him surprised when it came down to it.

Still? As mighty his faith? He still knew that this had been a screw-up mission. When it came down to it. He'd need to handle this mission with the discretion that was part of the mission.

It had been interesting at the time. There was a lot more to be interested in what to do next before the battle comes down to it. He sighed to himself before he tilted his head as the warrior seemed to be interested in him before he crossed his arms.

"We will handle the mission as best as we could. If you believe in the emperor's light? You would believe in the idea of a tactical retreat as well." The Astartes stated before he hummed to himself.

He had been interested as of the second. This mission had become a lot harder for the time being. There was a lot more as of the time being. He questioned before he tilted his head before he hummed before he tilted his head.

He had a lot more to say and do before he questions the time before he seemed to tilt his head. This had been a lot more to seem to hum as of the time being.

He was a lot more to do next. This had been something that needed to be as of the second when this was all said and done.

There was a lot more to this than either servant of the empire had been. That was a lot more to say and do at the time.

There had been something brewing on their minds either way that hadn't been there for a long time. it had been something that needed to be detained and stomped out before anything else was done. He knew more than anything that her faith in the emperor hadn't wavered at all.

Still? if they weren't focused? They'd be dead and it seemed as if they had been dealing with it as of now. the problems involved in this had been… Interesting and he knew that well enough to wish to warrant what to do next.

Still? he had a lot more on his mind than this. The idea that he had been a lot more to question before now. the battle in question but what now what to say and do next?

He paused as the woman checked her bolter, only pausing to look at him through the lenses of her armor. They shared a look of interest before now. the idea had been something that needed to be quelled before the move was done before it came down to it.

"We are truly that is all left of the reinforcements?" She questioned as he nodded to himself. "Then we must reach the relic before they do. You of all people would know what to do and what is at stake if we fail… I thought you and your kin were supposed to be some of the emperor's most elite followers." She heard before she seemed to question.

This had been something that needed to question for the time being. He needed to be ready.

"And I believed you of all would know that his goal is to be pursued… But not without intelligence." The soldier stated before he sighed. "Am I mistaken? I do not wish for the need for backup… But the reinforcements that we have in orbit will need a landing zone and I do not intend to wait while the enemies of the emperor gather and plot in the shadows and scheme on how to strike him down." The soldier added with anger present in his tone.

They shared one last glance before both seemed to question what to do next. There was a lot more of the time. She had been interested in what to do next before the enemy regrouped.

She knew his kind adored the emperor. You would not find a pack of Astartes bar the Ultramarines who adored the man beside them. It'd be an odd little part of her life as of the second. What came next would be an odd little part of contention before now.

Still? whatever next meant something was a lot more to question before all of this came down to it. He had been a lot more to say and do before now.

Whatever had been done and dusted. It needed to be said that she at least tried to understand it. he could see the rage behind his armor as he looked at her, furious at the heretics for slaughtering his brothers for the time being. Whatever came next? She could see the pure hate and rage in his body before now. It seemed as if she had a few things to deal with for now. Whatever came next? It'd be a bloodbath for those in their way.

"What do you suggest?" She finally questioned to which he fell silent.

"Regroup with any survivors, find a way to the relic and whatever horrid defenses they have created." He added as he looked over his blade for a second. "We must also make sure to get there and ensure that they do not harm anyone else. If we cannot do that? Then this mission has been totaled." He added as he slowly surged forward.

He had been a lot more as of the second. He had been prepared for what came next… And so had she. This was going to be a lot harder of a mission when it was all done and dusted…. Honestly? The idea had been something odd and weird.

This was a lot more to this mission now. The Astartes did not care for whatever had been placed on the mission's importance… Blood was drawn from his brothers and his kind. He'd slaughter whoever had been it as of this as of the second.

She followed after him as he turned to look over his shoulder at her. He said nothing as of this. It'd be a lot more to speak on when this was over with.

"I've heard rumors." She stated to which he nodded and checked his bolter. "That blade. You've been in this fire before." She stated to which he spoke.

"I fight for the emperor. That means I've been on the fires of war before now." He added to which he sighed and looked over his shoulder.

She stayed silent as well. He held his sword up towards her with a tilt as his head turned to the side. He had been oh so curious for now. What came next would be a perilous part of their journey and she knew it. She knew it was a lot worse than whatever came next.

"We must move before more come. I will not wet my blade with heretic blood until we manage to get closer to set up a landing zone for now." He said as he looked over his shoulder at her. "And I do want to think about this." He said as he leveled his sword at her.

She nodded as the two servants of the emperor slowly started forward.

The mission would be carried out if it was just them two. They would be a lot more tedious, but if they had even a chance of getting it done? They had to hit them as hard and as fast as possible. Whatever came at them would be handled, whatever small part of the problem was done and dusted.

What came next needed to be ready. It needed to be tapped into place if only for a moment. The very idea as of now would be something…

Still? Two against an army? A mass of heretics and their horrid elk was something that seemed almost insurmountable. It'd be a lot worse for the problem.

This would be a lot worse problem when it came down to this. He'd be a lot more of this plan. The plan was going to be a lot more to question. What came next was odd all over for now.

"You have a plan?" She questioned to which he nodded.

"Indeed, and as much as I would enjoy spilling heretic blood? The rest of them will be easy to kill." He stated before he turned and looked around the room.

It had been a far more trying action than he expected it to be, for now, a lot odder of an option for the time being… Still? if he was to fight them? He could not deal with it properly. The idea had buried itself inside of his skull and did nothing to bother him. He had to be faster, better than this. A lot harder a problem to handle when it was clear that they were dealing with it as of now. Yet he could do nothing to stop it while this battle for now.

He had been oh so willing to do more at the end of the day. It had been an odd little problem to handle, yet not once did he falter, nor could he at all. No. He had to hit harder, be a worse threat to them at the end of the day. He knew more than they just what would come if he didn't care if he didn't let his guard down at all… Yes, a little pinprick of a plan that had slowly started to take its shape in the back of his mind, it'd be glorious if not for the fact that this could be a terrible plan. It wasn't going to be easy, but it could be something that he could deal with for the time being.

There was to be more to their little test than it showed, a lot more. It had been a weird little thing at the end of the day he supposed, but one that could have made this less weird when it came to handling it properly.

He looked over at the sister behind him. She had been as clad in armor as he, all too prepared for now when it came down to it. There was a lot more to this battle than what little tactics were used, what had been applied here on this day to win them the idea at the end of the day when all was said and done, it had been a nightmare for now. What little they did to end this before now would be a kindness to them compared to what he could do.

Whatever the monster? It'd be done before now, whatever the suffering? It could be overcome.

He looked at her, too curious as to how this could end, too interested in what would come. The idea would be something that needs to question for now. Whatever seemed to be the threat? They'd face it as the emperor's shield and sword… But? The idea of a problem beyond their control or even threat was worse than either could bear, wish to bear. They hit harder and would smash through it. The problem wasn't fighting then, it was getting through to the enemy and what they had been sent here to deal with properly.

Still? he could trust her, if not? Whom could he trust? Who would be the enemy with which to crush the Heretics? They trusted.

He looked at his sword, prepared to attack the enemy alone if need be. Not that he wished to, glory might be one thing, but he was not insane enough to risk the lives of his brothers or those behind him. It had been something that needed to be done. It needed to be handled. They had to be ready for anything and he was smart enough to know what was to come.

She sighed and picked up her weapon, committed to facing the enemy even if it meant her life. She had after all committed to the idea of her life and what need be done if said life was in danger. The problem was what came when they achieved the goal they had set out to handle. What would come next for them? Next for their people and those of the Imperium? They had little in the way of getting home.

Yet they knew this. They did not care, they could not afford to let this bother them, he couldn't allow the small little window of problems on their journey to stop them, nor could they allow something else like the others attacking them to stop them. There could be no retreat, not a single drop.

He snorted and slowly started to walk forward, watching to see if she'd follow. He knew their mission was too important for arguing, for little arguments like this could be left for after their venture.

That and they were probably not long for this world. He couldn't exactly allow the planet to get the better of them. There was simply no real way this could have stood. There was a lot more on the path set before them.

"We need to get going. There will be a longer path before us." The Astartes stated before he slowly started to walk. He hadn't yet questioned for now.

He hadn't yet focused on the problem. They had much more work before they met the enemy anyway. Their march would not even begin to cover the agony this planet had inflicted upon them. There was only so much their weapons could do to the forces of chaos and both were aware of this.

He could only inflict so much damage upon the enemy himself without any reinforcements… Are they two against an army?
