Disclaimer: I do not own The Mr. Men Show or any of its characters, but I do own Emily/Little Miss Music.
Time went by fast, and before Little Miss Music knew it, she was racing to meet her friends at the train station, worried she'll be late. But she was glad to see the Mr. Men and Little Miss patiently waiting for her.
She stopped beside them, panting and trying to catch her breath.
Little Miss Calamity patted her on the back, while Mr. Nosy looked at her curiously. It was Mr. Small who spoke. "Where's your suitcase, Miss. Music?" he asked.
Little Miss Music gasped, realizing she forgot it at home. Super excited, she had packed everything she would need for her trip the night they decided to go, but today snuck up on her that she rushed out the door without her suitcase!
At least I have my phone and headphones, she thought, glad that she didn't go anywhere without them.
She shrugged and said that she could do without. Then they all got on the train and waited for it to leave the station. Little Miss Music was so excited she could hardly sit still. Little Miss Calamity glanced at her, smiling, but Little Miss Music noticed the worry in her eyes. She opened her mouth to reassure her friend that she didn't plan on moving to Misterland, but before she could say anything, the train honked its horn and pulled out of the station.
Little Miss Music let out an excited squeak and watched as Dillydale grew smaller until she couldn't see it at all. Now all that she could see were trees and fields. She sat back, wondering how far away Misterland was.
Suddenly she realized Mr. Nosy was staring at her. She turned to him. "What's up?" she asked.
He jumped when he noticed that she had caught him staring. Looking embarrassed, he lowered his gaze and played with his fingers. "Is… Is there anyone in Misterland that you really want to meet?" he finally asked.
She thought about that. There were several characters she wanted to talk to and befriend, but there was one Mr. Man that stuck out in her mind. Honestly, that Mr. Man was probably just as special to her as her senpai, though she reflected that on the old show, the blue Mr. Man didn't like him very much.
Then again, Mr. Grumpy doesn't like most people, she thought.
She started when she realized her friends were all staring at her, waiting for her to answer. She shifted sitting positions, embarrassed. She didn't want them to think she liked someone more than Mr. Grumpy, unsure herself if that was even true.
Finally, she cleared her throat. "Um, no," she stammered, lowering her gaze. "Nobody in particular, but there are a few characters I've imagined what it would be like to make friends with."
Mr. Nosy opened his mouth as if to press the subject, but just then the conductor came by and said they were almost at Misterland. Little Miss Music looked at him, not recognizing the human. She didn't really remember the humans on the show, though she knew there were a few here and there. Dillydale didn't have any humans, and Little Miss Music hadn't seen any since she left her world.
When he left, the four friends got ready to get off the train. Only a few minutes went by before the train pulled into another station and they gathered their things.
Now standing on the platform, Little Miss Music looked around. She tried to recognize her surroundings, but it was all new to her. She wondered if this was Misterland. Then she saw a few characters and realized it had to be.
Shrugging, she turned to her friends. "Should we get a hotel room? You know, since we don't know anyone to stay the night with."
Little Miss Calamity nodded, while Mr. Nosy and Mr. Small murmured in agreement. Little Miss Music took the lead as they headed away from the train station. It seemed like her friends trusted her to show them the way, but she didn't know where anything was.
She was thankful when they crossed the street and spotted a hotel close by. They started heading that way, passing a few characters along the way who all looked at them curiously.
Once in the hotel, they went to the front desk and Little Miss Music giggled when she spotted a Mr. Man who she recognized from the old show.
Mr. Forgetful, she thought, watching as he looked around, confused. He turned as they approached and tipped his hat to them.
"H-Hello," he stammered. "Can I… um…" He scratched his head. "Um… help you?" he finally finished.
"Two rooms, please," Mr. Small said, glancing at the Little Misses. "I figure you two can share a room, and Nose and I can. Is that alright?"
"Yup," Little Miss Calamity answered while Little Miss Music nodded.
Mr. Forgetful looked at them. "Um… Right…" He started poking around the desk. "Now… um… What did I need?"
Little Miss Music smiled. She had already realized this was going to be an ordeal as soon as she spotted Mr. Forgetful. I can't get mad at him though, she thought patiently. He kinda reminds me of Mr. Scatterbrain and I could never get angry with him.
But she noticed that Little Miss Calamity was looking annoyed, and Mr. Nosy and Mr. Small glanced at each other, a spark of worry in their eyes. Not wanting her friends to say anything about Mr. Forgetful's forgetfulness, Little Miss Music cleared her throat and said," Keys, perhaps? For the rooms?"
Mr. Forgetful looked at her. "Ah, that's it!" he exclaimed, turning around but looking confused again. "Where did I put the keys?"
Thankfully, Little Miss Music had seen the keys hanging on the wall behind the desk. "Is that them?" she asked calmly.
The dark blue Mr. Man turned and spotted the keys. "Ah, yes!" He hurried over and reached for two. He handed them to Little Miss Music and smiled. "Here you… um… go. Enjoy your… um… um…" His voice faded away and he looked confused again.
Little Miss Music thanked him and gestured for her friends to follow her. Mr. Nosy caught up to her. "Who was that?" he asked.
"Mr. Forgetful."
"Makes sense," Mr. Small remarked.
They came to their rooms and agreed to meet back in the lobby once they were settled.
Little Miss Music opened the door and walked inside, looking around. It was a nice, little room, and she was thankful to see two beds so they didn't need to share one.
The Little Misses were heading to the lobby when Little Miss Music spotted a yellow Mr. Man who she recognized as Mr. Mischief. She watched as he looked around a corner, giggling under his breath.
What's he up to? Little Miss Music wondered. She walked over to him and he turned, looking surprised and confused to see her.
"Who are you?" he asked.
"Miss. Music," she answered, careful not to let him figure out that she already knew who he was. "And you?"
He eyed her suspiciously. "Mr. Mischief." He hesitated before asking," What do you want?"
By now Little Miss Calamity had joined them and Mr. Mischief looked at her, too. Little Miss Music poked her head around the corner and spotted Mr. Greedy walking down the hallway. His eyes widened when he noticed the large cake in front of a door, and immediately Little Miss Music got a bad feeling.
She took a step toward him, but Mr. Mischief blocked her way. "Mind your own business," he told her, and she looked past him to see that Mr. Greedy had picked up the cake, and opened his mouth to take a huge bite out of it.
Then he was spitting the cake out and wiping his tongue. Mr. Mischief burst out laughing.
Little Miss Music frowned and shook her head. Watching the old show, she liked Mr. Mischief, but now she saw it through the eyes of the people who he and Little Miss Naughty back in Dillydale pranked, and she didn't think it was funny anymore. She felt sorry for their victims.
Mr. Greedy spotted the yellow Mr. Man and stomped over to him. "That wasn't funny, Mr. Mischief!" he shouted. "I thought that was icing, not toothpaste!"
Mr. Mischief was laughing too hard to respond.
Sighing, Little Miss Music went over to Little Miss Calamity, who was looking very confused. "That's Mr. Mischief," she murmured to her. "He likes to…"
"Cause mischief?" Little Miss Calamity guessed. Then she looked worried. "Let's go before he pranks us."
Little Miss Music wanted to stay and talk to these characters, but she remembered that Mr. Nosy and Mr. Small were probably waiting for them.
They turned and headed to the lobby, where they found their friends, and they all left the hotel together. They were discussing what they should do when Little Miss Music turned down a street and ran into someone. She fell backwards and Little Miss Calamity helped steady her.
Looking up, Little Miss Music gasped when she saw the light blue Mr. Man picking himself up from the ground. He knocked the dirt off him and looked up. Their eyes locked and Little Miss Music forgot how to breathe. She just stared at him as he stretched out his hand for her to shake and introduced himself.
"Hello, I'm Mr. Perfect. What's your name?"
Little Miss Music didn't answer; she continued to stare at him. As the moments dragged on, Mr. Perfect lowered his hand and looked confused.
A jab in her side knocked Little Miss Music out of her daze, and she turned to Little Miss Calamity. "Tell him your name," she murmured, and Little Miss Music wasn't sure what her name was anymore. Then it came to her.
"Music," she said, and Mr. Perfect looked at her. "Um… Miss…. Umm…" She was stumbling over her words, which confused her. She wasn't this nervous the first time she met Mr. Grumpy, so why couldn't she speak to Mr. Perfect?
"Are you okay, Miss. Music?" asked Mr. Small.
She quickly nodded. "Y-Yeah." She took a deep breath and said," My name is Miss. Music."
Mr. Perfect seemed satisfied with that. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss. Music." He paused before adding," You're not from Misterland, are you?"
Little Miss Music shook her head. "No, I'm not. We're here visiting."
"How lovely!" Mr. Perfect's eyes shone. "Well, if you need a guide, I'll be happy to show you around." His invitation seemed to be directed at all of them, but his eyes were fixed on Little Miss Music.
The Little Miss hesitated, not sure what to say. She wanted to agree, but it was up to her friends. She looked at them; the Mr. Men glanced at each other, seeming to be thinking, while Little Miss Calamity was looking at Little Miss Music, a knowing sparkle in her eyes.
"Yes, that would be great," the accident-prone Little Miss said to Mr. Perfect, who smiled and gestured for them to follow him.
