A/N: Hello everyone. I apologize for the slow updates. I've been sick and haven't been able to use my computer or my phone much (cluster headaches). Anyway, in the future if you see slow updates, that is why.

Throughout the school day, Silvester remained irritated at his sister for what she decided to do that morning. Despite what his sister does, Silvester really likes to follow the rules, especially at school. With the few times he does break the rules, it's usually because he does not want his sister mad at him or he sees more of a benefit breaking the rule than following.

Finally for what seemed like forever, the bell for recess finally rang. All the students in the classroom rushed by the door in a single file line, waiting for the teacher to lead them outside to play.

Recess was always a pain for Silvester especially. Nobody really played with him much on the playground except his sister due to his 'weirdness.' He often just stood around awkwardly, hoping someone other than his sister would hang out with him, but it never happened.

The teacher led all the students to the small playground just by where their classroom was. The playground was right next to a busy road, but a fence surrounded the school to protect students from potential vehicles. The playground had a modest playset with a bridge, jungle gym, swings, and a big yellow slide. The twins never bothered with the playground too much, mainly because it was very boring for Skylar's taste and there were too many children playing on it, which bothered Silvester quite intensively.

Skylar and Silvester wandered off by the tetherball set that was tucked into a corner by where they exited. This was usually their hangout spot. It was shaded by the roof of the school and it was quiet. Skylar sat on the ground by her brother, crossing her arms.

"I hate recess." She murmured.

"I hate it too." Silvester responded. "There's nothing fun to do."

In the far distance, Kennedy was seen with a group of other children following her as she was approaching the tetherball set. Skylar quickly stood up.

"Lookout, Silvester. Little miss perfect is coming over here."

Kennedy and the students approached the twins, walking as if she was on a mission. "Okay guys, wait here." She commanded the other students, as if she was in charge of them. She walked up to Skylar and stood close to her face, trying to intimidate her. "I knew you took my pen this morning."

Skylar raised an eyebrow. "Really? So you're just going to make an accusation without proof? You know that's against the law."

Kennedy huffed. "Since when do you care about the law?"

"Ever since you decided to accuse me of stealing your pen." Skylar furrowed her brows. "You have no proof."

Kennedy smirked. "You and I have a history, Skylar." She crossed her arms. "Every time something of mine disappears, you are caught with it. I've already told our teacher you took my pen, so you're going to get in trouble with it…again."

"So?" Skylar laughed to herself. "You think I'm scared of Mrs. Hill? All she's gonna do is call my mom and send me to the principal's office. Besides, she hasn't even talked to me about it, so clearly she either doesn't care or doesn't believe you."

"You better watch your mouth, Fox." She growled.

"I'm actually a foxcoon." Skylar sarcastically corrected. "I don't have your pen, so why don't you just go run along with your hypnotized morons and go mess with someone else. My brother and I are clearly busy."

Kennedy huffed to herself, realizing Skylar was not willing to fight with her today. "Fine." She scoffed. "But trust me, you're going to regret taking that pen."

Skylar laughed. "Okay princess."

Kennedy marched back over to her group and crossed her arms. She was heard mumbling something to herself as she and her group of 'friends' walked away back to the playground.

Silvester's anxiety went up slightly. "What do you think she meant by that you are going to regret taking the pen?"

Skylar sat back down, clearly unbothered by Kennedy's threat. "Who knows, who cares. That princess can't do anything except whine about life."

"Can you just give her the pen back?" Silvester sat down next to her, trying to figure out in his mind what Kennedy could possibly be planning to get her revenge on his sister.

"Well, I kind of lost it." Skylar smiled.

"You kind of lost it?!" Silvester stood up. "Come on, Sky. Why would you do that?"

"Calm down, Silver. She isn't going to do anything. Trust me."

Later that day…

The twins patiently waited anxiously for their names to be called in the car rider zone. Car rider students were placed near the entrance of the school, chaperoned by various different teachers throughout the year. Bus rider children were normally dismissed to the gym to await their bus number to be called. Carmelita let the twins ride on the bus a few times, but she pulled them off due to Silvester being messed with by the other students. He often was teased for Skylar's actions and for being a nerd. Silvester was starting to become numb with the teasing, but it bothered Carmelita. She debated putting the twins in a private school, but she just could not afford it with her police salary.

Carmelita pulled up in her white Honda, which she normally drove when she was off duty. She had pulled up in her patrol car once to pick up the kids, but the other children were terrified seeing a police car at the school.

"Skylar and Silvester Fox." The teacher in charge called the twins up to let them know their mother was there to pick them up. They quickly grabbed their backpacks and walked over to the door, being greeted by another teacher who led them to their mother. They opened the back seat door and hopped in.

"So, how was the first day back?" Carmelita excitedly asked.

"It was…good." Skylar sighed into her seat a bit, trying to hide what she had done in school. She wondered a bit in the back of her head if her mother knew somehow, but she ignored the thoughts and tried to keep it hidden. She didn't want to get grounded again.

Silvester looked clearly way more anxious than his sister. He couldn't help but worry about what Kennedy was going to do, fearing that Skylar was going to get hurt or if their mother was going to be extra angry. For most people, these fears were pretty irrational with everyone only being 10-years-old, but to Silvester, these fears seemed very real to him. He often battled with anxiety, which bothered Skylar greatly as she rarely ever had any anxiety.

Carmelita adjusted her mirror, seeing Silvester sinking into his seat. "Silver, what's wrong?"

"Nothing." Silvester quickly answered as he buckled his seat belt. "My day just didn't go too well as I'd hoped."

"Those kids weren't messing with you today, were they?" Carmelita questioned.

"No. Just wasn't a good day." Silvester leaned up against the window as Carmelita pulled away into the busy road. Skylar looked over at her brother and smiled, giving a nonverbal thank you for not telling their mother what had happened.

"How was your day, mom?" Silvester asked.

"Oh, it was fine." Carmelita answered as she was watching the road. "Thank you for asking, honey."

The twins remained quiet as their mom drove them home. The apartment was not far from the school at all. The twins actually could walk to school, but since the street by the school was so busy with people running the stop signs often, Carmelita did not feel comfortable letting them do so.

As soon as Carmelita pulled up to her parking spot at her apartment, the twins quickly rushed over to the front door, anxious to change out of their school clothes and relax.

"Slow down you heathens." Carmelita laughed. "I'm not as fast as you two, and I have the key." She walked up the stairs and unlocked the front door, letting her children inside. "Okay guys, dinner is at 5:30. Make sure to get any homework done."

"Okay mom." Silvester smiled.

"Skylar, I'll know if you skipped out. I'll be checking grades!" Carmelita threatened.

"Okay, okay." Skylar tried to get her mom to be quiet so she could play her game.

Carmelita rolled her eyes, choosing not to fight her sarcastic daughter. She disappeared down the hallway into her room, leaving the door open.

Silvester sat next to Skylar on the couch. "Skylar, I'm scared."

Skylar groaned. "Let. Kennedy. Go."

"I can't." Silvester whined. "I don't want you to get into a fight."

"Silvester, I told you before she's a spoiled princess who has parents who believe she is Jesus. She can't do anything, and neither can her parents. She can cry and whine all she wants, but at the end of the day she's not getting her pretty pink pen back."

"Because you lost it?" He asked worryingly.

"Well, yeah. I didn't mean to lose the pen. It fell out of my backpack somewhere at school, probably at recess or down the hallway to the cafeteria. Even if I hadn't lost the pen, I was not going to give it back to her."

Silvester frowned. "You know that makes you a thief."

Skylar growled. "Who cares? I know I am. That's who I am. I can't change that, Silver. I feel it running through me faster than those guys on Nascar drive. I can't help it. When I get the urge, I get the urge. Besides, you are too. You helped me take that book."

Silvester turned pale as he remembered what had happened with the Thevious Racconus. He knew his sister was right, but he had every reason to help her take that book from the museum. He felt what she had felt when they first spotted it on their school field trip. They both knew they had to at least look inside, but there was no way to do that without taking it. In a way, he felt ashamed for what was running through him, especially now that he knows the truth. He had more of his mother in him though, so he had a lot easier time fighting his blood compared to his sister."

Skylar started to tear up a bit. "I'm sorry. I just wish I knew why this was all happening. I'm glad we know about our father. At least that gave us some answers. I guess."

"But remember what uncle B said?" Silvester corrected. "Our father only stole from other thieves. He never stole anything for the fun of it."

Skylar crossed her arms, absorbing her brother's words but not responding to them. She knew he was right, despite him helping her with stealing that book. At the end of the day, it played out well for both of them. They finally learned the truth through all of this and why the urges they have run so strong.

"I don't know much about our father." Silvester sank into the couch. "Sometimes, I wish mom would just tell us more. I wish mom would have told us in the past, but I mean it makes sense why she never did." He put his arm around his sister. "She doesn't want us to get in trouble, Sky. Please, stop doing stuff like this."

Skylar's eyes started to become soaked with her tears, which soon led to the tears rushing down her face uncontrollably. "I want dad to come home!" She bursted.

Silvester couldn't help but cry as a response, as if it was contagious.

"Why can't we have a dad?" Skylar bursted more, not thinking about what she was saying or who was listening. "Kennedy has a dad, which she probably told. Not to mention he's a rich dad who's the town MAYOR! I want a dad too, Silver. Why can't he come home? Why did we have to take that stupid dang book to find out ANYTHING?" She stood up and knocked over a picture frame that contained a family photo of the twins and Carmelita on a trip to De Lyon. "It's not fair. I had to go my whole life wondering why I feel the way I feel. Mom just COULD NOT tell us. I know we are young, but that's not fair!"

Silvester sat shocked witnessing his sister act like this. This was not at all in her character, if anything he was the one who threw the tantrums.

Carmelita quickly rushed to the living room, trying to investigate just what was going on. "Skylar!" She screamed as her daughter was crying next to the broken picture frame that was knocked over. "Skylar, what's going on?"

Skylar looked over to her mom, angrily. She could not control any of her emotions any longer. "Kennedy has a dad, so why don't we?" Her face turned red as her uncontrolled tears continued to flow from her eyes.

"Kennedy? What?" Carmelita was so confused about what was going on. She didn't hear what Skylar had said, but just yelling coming from the living room. "Skylar, calm down." Carmelita quickly grabbed her daughter and held her tightly, attempting to calm her down. Carmelita often did this with Silvester when he has a tantrum, so she figured it would work with Skylar too.

Skylar started to calm herself down. Her tears stopped flowing from her face as her heart rate slowed down and her face cooled off. She looked up at her mother with her big eyes. "I just want our dad to come home, mom. I'm sorry."

Carmelita hugged her daughter tightly. "I do too, honey. Believe me, I do."

Silvester jumped up and joined the hugging. He didn't know how to deal with what he just saw, he was just glad their mother stepped in before things got worse.

"I'm sorry we took the book, mom." Silvester mumbled.

"That's over now." Carmelita stopped hugging them and went down to Silvester's level. "I should have been more honest with you two. What I am more concerned about is why my picture frame is broken."

"I accidentally broke it." Silvester nodded to his sister. "I was trying to calm down Skylar, and it fell off the table."

Carmelita smiled. "It's okay. We can get a new one. I shouldn't have had it on that table anyway."

Skylar smiled at her brother, continuing to attempt to dry her face.

Carmelia looked over at Skylar, unsure how to correct the situation. She knew Skylar had to have been bottling all of this, because Skylar never threw tantrums. Carmelita battled with her thoughts to talk about Sly more with them, but she had a feeling this was going to help correct all of this and rid the pain her kids had to have been feeling. Carmelita never wanted to hurt her kids, especially like this, and the guilt overwhelmed her greatly. In the past, Carmelita might have been a black and white thinker with a temper, but after she had the twins she had to fade that personality away. Life isn't black and white, and no matter what she cannot erase Sly's legacy from her children. They had the Cooper legacy running through their veins and there was nothing she could do to change that, except try to guide them down the right path. She remembered what Bentley had said throughout the years, Sly only stole from other thieves. Just like the twins, he couldn't help what was flowing through his veins, even when he pretended to be a cop. She knew that they really had to buckle down and find him, which should've been done when she found out she was pregnant.

"Let's just go get pizza for dinner, okay?" Carmelita grabbed her bag and ushered the kids to her car to get pizza. At the end of the day, pizza is a quick solution to a bad day.
