It was a beautiful morning in early April with the birds gently chirping outside as if announcing the first day of school for students across the country.
Kyouka Jirou was nervous to say at the very least. She felt her heart beating a thousand miles per minute as she held her new school uniform right in front of her with her hands shaking as if they were freezing.
She started to examine the uniform and smiled a little. It was mostly an average black school uniform with the usual skirt along with a red ribbon. She had to admit, she liked the style quite a bit so at least she wouldn't be having the worst school uniform.
But today wasn't about the uniform at all or even the school. It was about seeing her hero Deku for the first time at school. This would be a huge step for her and she just hoped that she was ready for today.
"It's okay Kyouka, you can do this. This shouldn't be much different than the days you've watched him after school." She said to herself as she gulped.
She then changed into her uniform and looked into a mirror she had hanged on her door. She had to admit that the uniform looked kind of nice on her, but there was only one problem she couldn't overlook.
Her body
She had been feeling a little self conscious recently, considering that most of her friends had been going through puberty and had developed pretty well in certain areas of their bodies.
And according to her mom and her doctor, Kyouka's body has recently been through puberty with her body already being fully developed which was a devastating day for her. She hoped to god that this wasn't the case and that the doctor made a mistake somehow.
The preteen rubbed her arm in an embarrassed state, just imagining a situation where Deku had to compare her body to some other girl's more mature body.
This hypothetical situation made her shudder and shake her head, knowing that she would lose right away.
'No. No. No. No. No. No. Don't think like that! He doesn't seem like the type to check out girls.' She thought to herself for reassurance.
She had to at least try to be confident, at least for Deku.
"I can do it." She said to herself as she clenched her fist, doing her best to seem confident.
The young girl then looked at her clock and sighed as she realized her current predicament.
It was 5:47 in the morning.
She didn't want to risk waking up late and leaving in a rush before she had the chance to make sure she looked presentable so she made sure to set her alarm for 4 o'clock in the morning and spent the rest of the time making sure she was ready for her first day of middle school so it could be perfect.
Now what to do for the next couple of hours before having to leave?
Kyouka took in a deep breath as she stood in front of the gates of Aldera middle school. She couldn't deny that she was feeling a little scared with finally being in the same school as Deku after all this time. But at the same time, she was feeling excited as well.
She had spent the remaining hours of her time at home, triple checking herself to make sure nothing was wrong and preparing her stuff for school.
She had of course brought her notebook so she could write about her experience being in the same school as the green haired boy. Today, that notebook was bound to have a lot of writing even before she arrives home.
'Today can't go wrong. Every minute of it has to be perfect. Even if there's the slightest chance he sees me, it can't be in a moment where I look weird or something.' She thought to herself for the 10th time today.
If it was this nerve wracking for her to walk into his school, she couldn't imagine how hard it would be walking up to the boy and actually talking to him.
But that would have to be a thought for another time. She had to take it one step at a time so her doing this would be the first official step into meeting the boy.
That's all she had to do, walk onto the school grounds and make her way to class. The school seemed to be pretty big as well so the chance of her seeing Deku in the halls would be very slim.
The purple haired girl couldn't resist playing with her earphone jacks a little as she stared at the doors to the middle school, ignoring the clock that was high up.
She started to smile and gripped her backpack straps as she got ready to take a step forward. 'This is my first step into meeting him. This will be a moment to remember for the rest of my life.'
Kyouka lifted her right foot off of the ground and her confident demeanor shined as her smile grew.
Suddenly. the bell rang, indicating that class is starting now.
She widened her eyes as her entire confident demeanor was shattered as she had a blank look on her face.
'What?'
She finally looked up at the giant clock and noticed that class was starting now which caused her to go into a panic as she sprinted onto the school grounds, shoving other students out of the way as she entered through the doors.
She continued to sprint to her homeroom class as she wondered how she could possibly be late for class after waking up and getting ready so early.
'Dammit! How long was I standing there?! I didn't know I was lost in my thoughts that much!' She thought to herself in a panic as she soon noticed that her class was right ahead of her. 'Only a couple of minutes late, I'm sure the teacher won't mind too much.'
The girl had soon reached her room and quickly opened the door as she entered. "I-I'm so sorry I lost track of time so suddenly and I didn't realize that I was late!"
She was feeling out of breath, but she tried to control her breathing so she wouldn't seem crazy with her heavy breathing.
She immediately bowed her head to the teacher as he widened his eyes in surprise of the sudden outburst. "Uh, it's fine, I'm assuming your, ummm... Kyouka Jirou then?" He asked in a bored tone as she nodded. "No need to worry about it. I just finished attendance so you're still fine."
The preteen felt relieved that she didn't get in trouble as she began to lift her head. "Thank you, sir. I promise I'll make it on time in the future."
The teacher sighed and nodded, pretending to care at what she said. "Alright, that's good. Now I'll just need you to take a seat. There's a free one right over there so just sit there."
The teacher then pointed at a seat and Kyouka turned to look at the seat he's chosen for her.
'Alright let's see my seat for the rest of the year. Oh that's not a bad seat, it's close t-' Her thoughts suddenly stopped as she stood there frozen in place at what she saw.
It was Deku who was close to her seat. Of all the people that could be in her class in her first year, this was the worst possible outcome for her.
She had not prepared for this at all. She had planned for so many outcomes and this was not one of them. She even had a plan on what to do if only Kacchan was in class, but unfortunately he was in this class as well.
'Wait, did he notice my outburst when I came in? Does he think I'm weird now? This has to be the worst possible day ever! I can't continue like this, maybe I should transfer to a different school right away. Then he'll forget about today eventually.' These thoughts were just taking over the young girl's head as she didn't move a single inch.
She then glanced at Deku to see what he was doing and noticed that he seemed very focused on writing in his notebook.
She decided to assume that he didn't pay attention to her outburst and gave an internal sigh of relief. So maybe there was still hope for her yet.
He seemed like the type to mostly keep to himself and that was perfect for her considering that she was behind his seat and to the left.
She could make this work. No. She had to make this work no matter what. She wasn't going to mess up so soon. Not when she's come so far.
She was then taken away from her thoughts as she heard the teacher clear his throat. "Miss Jirou, your seat please."
The girl gave a nod and walked towards her seat as she tried her best to not show how nervous she was while she heard a few chuckles and mumbles around her.
"Wow, that girl was really loud."
"She's a little strange."
"Now that's what I call an entertaining first day of school."
Kyouka was really tempted to talk back to these students, but she was already embarrassed enough and didn't want to risk Deku noticing her now that she was aware that he's in this class.
Soon enough, she passed right by the special boy and time seemed to stop for her. It felt like she could stand next to him for hours, maybe even days. Her heart seemed to be beating only for him at that moment as if he's the reason she's still alive. Her body felt so warm and comfortable like it was wrapped around the most comfortable blanket in the world. It was a moment of peace she wanted to last forever and in a dream world it really could.
But sadly, in reality, that feeling went away in only seconds as she passed right by him to get to her desk.
As she sat down, she tried her best to contain herself from the emotions she was currently feeling.
Of course, she was extremely happy at the fact that she would be able to be near the boy during class time for the rest of the year which increases her time with him by so much. She knew that in the end, them having a class together would make her even happier at the end of the school year.
But then she was the most nervous she ever was in her life, not knowing exactly what to do with him in her class. What if there was a group project and they put in a group together? She wouldn't be able to handle that pressure for sure which would certainly make them fail. She could never have him fail at something just because of her.
And at the moment she was very angry at one simple fact. That she totally missed attendance which meant that she couldn't learn his full name. Of course, there would be many more opportunities, but it would've been so much better if she learned it the first day.
There was also the disgust she felt at the fact that Kacchan was in the same class as her. And what's worse is that she's 2 seats behind him so she would be forced to at least look at him a little bit every day. At least her green haired hero would be a good distraction from that fact.
She then started to take out her stuff to put it on the desk as the teacher talked about how their first year in middle school would be and what to expect.
As the teacher talked, she almost immediately started to ignore him as she began to admire Deku while trying not to make it look obvious.
She watched as he paid very close attention to the teacher as if he was listening to every word. He was such a good student and definitely seemed like the type to get good grades. She knew for a fact that this boy would have an amazing future in education no matter what path he chose for himself.
She couldn't resist the small smile that formed on her face as she thought about how he even had so much care for something like education. It seemed like this boy truly had a passion for everything and it made her so happy to be able to witness this kind of passion first hand.
Sooner or later the lunch bell rang and all of the students started to make their way out of the class with their respective lunches. Of course, when everyone got to the hall, a certain girl stayed a little behind to make sure she had her eyes on her special green haired boy.
However, something she didn't expect to see was Deku walking away from the other students and go off somewhere on his own.
'Where is he going?' The young girl wondered as she watched Deku turn the corner and leave her line of sight.
She wasn't going to lose sight of him so easily and make sure that she would find out where he's going. She decided to start following him, but of course at a distance, so no one would think anything weird was going on.
She soon noticed that he was starting to walk up some stairs that seemed completely empty so she was assuming he wanted to be alone or something. As much as she wanted to respect any privacy he wanted, she definitely couldn't resist following him at a time like this.
She was now right in front of the stairs and started to slowly walk up to them. It looks like these stairs lead to the roof which made her all the more curious about why Deku was going there instead of the cafeteria.
As she got higher up the stairs, she saw a door with a sign next to it saying that it leads to the roof which confirmed her guess. 'Alright he's probably behind this door, the roof is pretty big so there's no way he'll see me right away.'
Currently, a certain quirkless boy had his notebook out and was looking through his backpack to look for his pencil. "Dang it. Did I really leave it in the classroom? I knew I should've brought an extra one."
He sighed in disappointment at himself and decided to go to the classroom real quick, figuring he left his pencil on the floor. He now began to walk towards the door which would lead him downstairs.
'Okay, this'll be easy. Just open the door and take a quick peek at him. He's probably too focused on eating his lunch or something so he probably won't notice me.' Kyouka thought to herself as she put her hand on the door handle before opening it and taking a big step forward.
Suddenly she felt her head collide with someone else's which caused her to fall on her butt as she groaned. "Ow! What was that?"
"I-I'm so sorry are you okay?" A familiar voice asked her with concern as she saw a hand reached out for her.
This was a voice she knew all too well and she thought that this had to be her imagining things, but then she saw a familiar notebook laying on the ground right in front of her.
'No, it can't be.' She thought to herself in fear as she began to slowly look up at the boy she just bumped into.
The purple haired girl froze completely as she saw a face she could never forget. A face that hasn't changed too much within the 4 years that she's admired it.
It was Deku, the boy who saved her 4 years ago and the one she's been watching all this time.
She felt her entire body heating up as her face began to take on a dark shade of red which wasn't much darker than the boy's face right now, but for a different reason. Her heart beating faster than ever before as if it was skipping so many beats and it suddenly felt a little hard to breathe.
"Y-You're not hurt that bad right?" The boy questioned again, being more concerned since the girl right in front of him wasn't responding in any way. He had to admit that he was freaking out already since he didn't just bump into anyone, he bumped into a girl in which he's had zero experience with so he had absolutely no clue what to do right now.
Kyouka tried to get a word out as best as she could as her lips started to quiver, but it finally seemed like she was going to say something.
"D-D-De-De-De-Dek-Deku...T-Thank you..."
A/N
Oh my god it felt like I took forever writing this chapter! If I'm being honest I feel like I could've done better in a lot of places, but still I think this is kind of okay.
If I'm being honest then I took forever trying to decide what I wanted to do in that last section. I had considered many options which I actually wrote down, but then deleted soon after. The original plan was to have Izuku and Kyouka meet when class ends when he bumps into her when she snot looking, but I figured that having it on the rooftop would be more fun to imagine.
By the way to give you guys an idea of where Kyouka is seating, just imagine the class layout of Izuku's middle school in episode 1. She would be two seats behind Bakugo or to be more precise, she's directly behind that extremely buff dude who's behind Bakugo. I know that it doesn't make too much sense for the class layout to be the same for their first year and third year, but I just couldn't think of any seating layouts myself.
I do hope that none of you thought that I rushed their meeting or anything. I was going to actually make Kyouka wait until she was 13 to meet Izuku, but I feel like she deserved to meet after 4 years of watching him.
And I also hope that you guys liked some of the comedic scenes I added with Kyouka spending so much time making sure she was ready and her being late to class before freaking out about Izuku. I might have some more of that in the future if you guys like it enough. But don't worry I won't turn this story into a full blown comedy, but I feel like lightheartedness is always needed somewhere.
Now it is review time! However, there is a little more than usual this time and I'm pretty tired right now and want to finish up before I sleep so please don't feel bad if I don't respond to your review.
BadLuckBunny: Yeah sorry about that, I made a mistake when I updated the story last chapter. But still thank you for being it to my attention even if you didn't mean to. I probably wouldn't have noticed without your review.
Chuck Winanaki: I do plan on having Izuku give Kyouka a nickname for the future, but I can't think of anything just yet. I don't want to take nicknames she gets in other fanfics like Kyo for example. I actually like those nicknames, but maybe I could be original. Who knows, I might actually do Kyo if I can't come up with anything. I suck at being original.
MizuToriFFN: Oh yeah of course, I do have special moments planned between Bakugo and Kyouka which I'm sure some of my readers will enjoy.
Ability King KK: Oh don't worry about that, since really only Bakugo bullies him at this age, I doubt that other kids would specifically target Kyouka. Maybe a little mumbling from time to time, but she won't be a target.
SenketsuFangirl: Thank you for letting me know about the fact that school starts in April. And also I could've sworn it ends in March, at least that's what it said when I would be looking it up.
Tonsofun94: Trust me I definitely would, but I would never be able to write a song for the life of me and I'm not too into incorporating real life songs as well. But maybe I can manage something in the future. I currently have no detailed plans on how her confession would go. All I know is that it will be while they're in UA.
Im The Person: Dammit I actually had that planned so you beat me to it lol. I really hope you don't think I'm stealing an idea or something when I incorporate that into my story. However I do like the idea of Kyouka giving Izuku a nickname that only she can use. I'll have to think about that so I could come up with one.
So that's it for the day, I hope you guys are enjoying this story so far and thank you for continuing to read.
Please feel free to leave a review!
