Kyouka couldn't be any happier in her life right now. What was happening right now seemed like a dream that she never wanted to wake up from.
She was currently sitting down against the wall with a calm smile across her face as she took a bite into her apple.
But it wasn't this particular scenario that made it so dreamlike, it was the person who was sitting right beside her who made it that way.
Of course, it was none other than Izuku Midoriya, the same boy that saved her 4 years ago from Kacchan and who she has been watching ever since.
Unfortunately, her meeting with him went off with a horrible start, but thankfully the two of them managed to get past that with some simple understanding.
She had to admit there was a part of her that was tempted to just run away almost immediately after she saw him in order to save herself the embarrassment, but she's so glad she didn't or else the two of them wouldn't be sitting right here together.
One more thing that made this more enjoyable than usual was how shy the boy looked sitting next to her. She noticed the way he fidgeted around with his fingers and how he avoided eye contact with her. She felt like it would bother any other girl, but she understood perfectly why he was acting like this. She couldn't help, but find it adorable to see her hero being so shy around her.
She then closed her eyes as her smile stayed on her face as she started to daydream with her earphone jacks starting to twirl a little which was noticed by a certain boy.
"So if you don't mind me asking, what's your quirk?" Izuku asked her after seeing her earphone jacks do that, seemingly less shy than before.
He just couldn't resist asking her this particular question. Her quirk definitely seemed interesting and could probably be used practically as well. He wondered how long she could stretch them. Could they pierce objects with enough force? How strong are they? Could they potentially be able to pick up objects at her will? These were the kinds of thoughts running through his head, but he figured he wouldn't ask them all right away.
The purple haired girl was then broken out of her daydream as she widened her eyes and looked at him. "O-Oh my quirk? Well my quirk is called Earphone Jack, as you can see it basically just makes earphone jacks come out of my earlobes and I can hear things really well to put it simply. I know it's a weird quirk and not that impressive."
But one thing she didn't notice was how Izuku's face lit up as she told him all that. The boy just wished that he had his pencil right now so he could write everything he just heard in his notebook.
She looked to the side a little, feeling shy about her quirk. If there was one thing she was worried about concerning her looks other than her body, it was her earphone jacks. She's always felt a little insecure about them, thinking they looked weird on her. The only person that could pull them off in her opinion was her mom.
However, her insecurities about her quirk were immediately shut down as the green haired boy said his next words.
"No of course it's impressive and not weird at all! It seems like you have good control of them and I can just imagine the kind of things you can do with them. You can probably pick up objects, maybe reach far away places, listen to conversations for intel if needed. You could also…" The quirkless boy then began on a muttering trip on all the ways Kyouka could use her quirk without even taking a breath for a break.
Kyouka just watched in amazement at his muttering even though she could barely keep up. Does this boy's passion have no bounds? 'He really is amazing.'
It's like she was just reminded of one of the many reasons why Izuku is just perfect in every other way.
Soon the muttering came to a stop as the green haired boy looked at the girl and his face became a little red. "I-I'm sorry about that, I swear I didn't mean to talk that much. It's just that when it comes to quirks, I get really excited just analyzing and talking about them."
He gave a nervous laugh after saying that as he scratched the back of his head. Kyouka really had to resist blushing at his cuteness as she smiled and shook her head.
"No need to be sorry, it's pretty cool to have a passion for quirks. I've definitely never seen anyone be that passionate about them." The purple haired girl said which caused Izuku's face to go even more red as he hid his face with his arms.
"T-Thank you Jirou, I've never been complimented about my passion for quirks before." The boy said with a shy smile, not counting his mom of course.
She took another bite of her apple as she gave him a curious look. "So I do wonder, why do you like quirks so much?"
This was a question she really wanted to be answered right now because she felt like it would help her understand him more. Right now that's what she wanted the most, to know Izuku more than just the boy who saved her 4 years ago.
If she could understand him better then she knows that she'll get even closer to him and that will certainly help her in the long run.
The green haired boy's red face went away as he started to give a more natural smile, moving his arms out of the way. "Well, it's that there's so many interesting quirks, each of them being unique and amazing in their own way. You never know what a quirk could potentially do. I mean look at All Might, his quirk is a total mystery, but he's still out there being the #1 hero. Quirks really are the most amazing things that exist in this world."
'When he talks about quirks, it seems like all of his shyness goes away as his passion takes over. He deserves to be a hero one day.' She thought to herself as she continued to endlessly admire the boy.
Her protector now looked up at the sky as he continued talking when usually someone would break him out of his trance by now. However, the girl right next to him wanted to hear everything he had to say without missing a single word. "Maybe one day I can be a hero just like him, it's what I want more than anything in the world. As long as I try my hardest and keep my smile bright, just maybe I can do it."
The preteen girl nodded with her fully believing in his dreams. 'You can do it Izuku. If anyone can, it's you.'
"I believe you can be a hero." That's what the quirkless boy heard as he widened his eyes and looked at her.
"D-Did I hear that right?" He asked, thinking that he must've heard her wrong. No one has ever said that to him before and that is including his mother.
The young girl gave a small laugh and nodded once again. "Of course, I said that I believe you can be a hero. Is something wrong with that?"
Izuku then looked down and started to play with his sleeves. "W-Well you're probably only saying that because you don't know of my condition...I-I'm quirkless actually."
Kyouka felt sad as she heard him say that even though she already knew about his condition, that didn't stop her from feeling sad since she heard it from the boy himself. She could tell that he felt sadness as he said that as well. He wants to be a hero so badly but is faced with such a huge obstacle. It would normally seem impossible for any quirkless person to be a hero, but if anyone could do it then it would be Izuku. She had no doubt in her mind about that.
"Okay, that doesn't change what I just said." The girl said with a bit of a wider smile. "You can be a hero Midoriya, I believe in you."
The aspiring hero couldn't believe what he was hearing. For someone to actually believe he can be a hero. It didn't seem like she was mocking him either, she seemed genuine as she told him that.
Tears started to form as they slowly streamed down his cheek which caused Kyouka to panic again as she saw that. "W-Wait what happened now?! I'm so sorry, what did I do?!"
She was so confused right now, she thought she was complimenting him. But he was crying now after what she told him. Did he think she was mocking him? Is his opinion of her starting to go down already?
Before her panicked mind could go any further, she saw a smile on the young boy's face as the tears kept coming. "I-I'm sorry...I-It's just that I'm so happy to hear that coming from someone after all this time. I-I know I'm getting too emotional for my own good."
She internally sighed in relief, glad that she didn't make him sad in any way. She was definitely happy as well, knowing that she was the first person to say something like that to him. She knew it was a bit selfish to enjoy being the only one supporting his dream, but she didn't care right now. This had to mean that she was holding a special place in his heart already right?
"It's okay. There's nothing wrong with being emotional. A boy who isn't afraid to show his emotions is pretty brave if you ask me." She gave him a reassuring smile while being proud of how brave she was being while talking to him.
This perfect boy was too pure for this world and she absolutely loved it. She hoped that she could make him happy like this again in the future.
"T-Thank you Jirou I appreciate hearing that." Izuku said with his smile still staying bright as he wiped his tears.
A few seconds after him saying that the lunch bell rang again signifying that it was time to get back to class.
Kyouka was extremely disappointed to hear that bell to say the least. She wishes that could be like this forever, just calmly talking to her protector endlessly.
She held back her sigh of disappointment as she stood up and took one last bite of her apple before throwing it away. "Let's get back to class Midoriya, we don't want to be late."
The green haired boy soon stopped crying and wiped away the remaining tears as he stood up as well before nodding. "Yeah, it would not look good on our record if we were late the first day."
The purple haired girl did her best to contain a wide smile as she walked back to class with him. She was so happy that she was able to spend all of lunch with him. And she was more excited that she'll probably be able to spend even more lunches with him in these next 3 years.
It was now nearing the end of the first day of school, Izuku was paying close attention to the teacher while Kyouka was paying close attention to him.
She didn't think that she had to worry about paying too much attention on the first day. These first couple of days usually consisted of useless information to her anyways.
But of course, she would have to pay attention in the future once the teacher talks more about subjects that she needs to learn for future exams.
She was confident enough in her abilities to get through the exams as long as she didn't slack off too much when studying.
She would certainly have to resist watching him more in class in the future, but for now, she was more than content with him being the only source of attention in this class.
Soon enough the bell rang and the young girl stood up, immediately walking up to the boy she admires. "S-So umm Midoriya...D-Do you mind if we walk home together?"
She was clearly nervous asking this question, taking a big risk for today. She considered that she was having a sudden streak of good luck so why not take advantage of it.
The quirkless boy widened his eyes at the question and turned really red as he looked at his desk. "Y-Yeah that sounds nice Jirou."
He was certainly more shy than the girl asking him the question, but for a different reason of course. 'I'm going to walk home with a GIRL?!'
Kyouka smiled at his answer, feeling certain that nothing could go wrong today. However, she was gravely mistaken as she heard a scoff coming from a couple of seats away. "Looks like Deku finally made a loser friend. Hey, guys take a guess on why someone actually wants to talk to him."
"I bet she wants him to do all her homework for her."
"Maybe she's just messing with him."
Of all the people to talk to them, it just had to be the worst one possible. She really couldn't have gone the first day without talking to Kacchan?
She then noticed the boy's head start to sink down to the desk, just accepting these insults which caused her heart to be in pain as if it was being crushed. Was Kachan this bad even at school? She thought that he would have at least some boundaries at school.
She bent down a little and talked quietly in the boy's ear. "Just ignore them, they don't know what they're talking about."
The ash blonde boy then got out of his seat and started to walk out of the classroom, but not before saying one more thing. "I give it 1 month tops before she gets sick of him. We all know he'll be alone all of middle school."
He then exited the classroom with his lackeys following right behind him, none of them noticing the angry glare that was burning into their backs from onyx eyes. 'Those bastards, how dare they doubt my loyalty to Izuku. I will never leave him, they will never be right about me and him.'
She looked down at the boy whose head was still down before she stood straight up. "M-Midoriya, are you okay?"
She was concerned about his feelings right now, thinking that Kacchan ruined his mood for the day. But she was surprised when he looked up and gave her a smile as if nothing happened. "Me? Of course I am, Kacchan does that all the time. Let's go home now shall we?"
She could tell how much he wanted to avoid talking about it with how fast he was talking. He already stood up and started to leave with her following right behind. This shouldn't be normal for him. He shouldn't have to be used to being bullied by this guy. It just made no sense to her.
She wanted to push into that topic about Kacchan so badly, but she knew that was the last thing he wanted to talk about right now so she decided to save that for another time. She didn't want to get too personal with him right away just in case that would freak him out.
Everything was going smoothly so far regarding her relationship with him and she wanted to keep that up. There was no way she was going to mess anything up like she almost did earlier after she bumped into him.
The both of them soon exited the school as she walked next to the green haired boy and he seemed to be a little less bothered about the incident that just happened in class.
"So Midoriya, I'm kind of curious what town you're from? Maybe both of our towns are close to each other." The preteen girl said, trying to make conversation and get rid of this awkward atmosphere.
The young boy seemed to be broken out of a daze as he looked at her. "O-Oh my town? I'm from Shizuoka actually. I don't know if you've heard of it, it's a small town."
She already knew the answer to her question, but she kind of wanted him to know about her as well so this was a good excuse to do that. "Oh, are you serious? I'm from Shizuoka as well. Who knows maybe our houses aren't that far from each other."
She was talking like all of this information was known to her and like she didn't know how far their houses were from each other. In fact, she knew many different routes of how to get from his house to her house, but that's information she would keep to herself.
"W-Whoa what are the chances? I think that's the biggest coincidence I've ever witnessed in my life." Izuku gave a small laugh as he said this, seeming to get a little more comfortable.
He did his absolute best not to turn red as he realized that this meant he would be walking home with her everyday and possibly be walking to school with her every day as well.
This really was getting too much to handle for the young boy. He's never had this much attention before from someone his age and it wasn't just anyone, it was a girl out of all people. Actually thinking about it, this is probably the first girl he's ever had a full conversation with. Today was certainly a big day for him, he even made a new friend today. Wait, are they friends? "Umm Jirou?"
Kyouka tilted her head, ready to answer any question he might have. "Yeah, Midoriya?"
Izuku took in a deep breath as he gripped his backpack straps. "A-Are we friends?"
The purple haired girl gave a small look of surprise at the question, but then she laughed as she nodded without hesitation. "Of course we're friends. Unless you don't want to be…"
"N-No of course I want to be friends! I-It's just all of this seems too good to be true. I didn't expect to make such a nice friend on the first day of school." His face was red as he said that, but she could tell he was very happy at the same time.
"Trust me Midoriya, this is all real and I guess you can say we're both lucky." The young musician smiled at him which caused him to smile as well, feeling more confident about their friendship.
The two of them were of course still nervous about their relationship in different ways, but they would both certainly try their best to make the other one comfortable.
This is how Kyouka wanted every day to be like, just the two of them talking and getting to know each other more and more. If it could be like this for the rest of middle school, she would just love it. Of course, she would definitely be okay if Kacchan wasn't around as much anymore, but hopefully by high school, he would be gone forever.
The two middle schoolers continued to walk together with a once lonely boy feeling so happy that he has something that he hasn't had in a very long time.
A friend
A/N
Now that is chapter 7 everyone! I admit this was more relaxing to write and I may have gone a little OOC with the two of them, I'm not too sure. But I'm kind of satisfied with how this chapter turned out. The chapter would've come out earlier, but I had a busy morning helping my family out in the house.
I have to admit that I'm a little unsure how exactly I want to handle Kyouka regarding One For All. My ideal way would be to have her not knowing until way later, but with how much she watches Izuku that'll be kind of hard to pull off. I hope I can find a logical way of her not finding out within the 10 months of Izuku training for U.A.
The next couple of chapters will all have pretty big time skips with the next one either going 2 months forward(or more) or a full year forward. But I'm definitely considering the two months to show how Izuku and Kyouka have gotten to know each other better.
Please give any feedback you want considering these subjects and I will ask for feedback again when it comes to the battle trials in the future.
For now I'll keep doing these review sections since I don't want to make a decision right away. Review time!
MizuToriFFN: Thank you for the positive feedback on my pacing, I hope I can keep having a hold of it in these next couple of chapters. I also appreciate the concern about my update speed. I do fear of burnout one day and in the future I might take breaks every other day, but not before notifying everyone. But still I'm really glad you're enjoying this story and I hope I can continue to bring this enjoyment in the future.
Ability King KK: Yeah these two will grow a good amount within their middle school years, but not too much so they don't seem to OOC. But Izuku definitely will be the most affected. I will definitely try longer chapters, going for 3k words and hopefully I can do 4K or even 6k in the future. The PM idea definitely sounds like a good idea and I am highly considering it.
Guest: Thank you for your compliments on how I had these two interact with each other. I had to rewatch the early episodes to get a better hold of Izuku's personally in middle school. I certainly plan on having most chapters end in a good spot that leaves my readers satisfied.
Chuck Winanaki: Oh yes she's taking all the risks, but it was mostly because of how crazy the day was already. But in the future she will be taking more risks, but I plan on making this a bit of a slow burn so it won't be happening back to back. Yeah it's just that I don't want the review sections potentially bothering any of the readers from their length.
ReadingSoul518: Well in due time and I mean a LONG time.
shadowwriter01: Oh sorry that's completely my bad for misreading the question and thank you for thinking I did well for indirectly answering your question last chapter.
Well I hope everyone enjoyed today's story, please leave a review!
