Batter Up

Olivia kissed Elliot on the cheek and grabbed the sweats she had taken off and Elliot's shirt. She looked at his shirt and laughed as she held it up to him.

"I guess that was my fault… this time I was the impatient one…" she said eyeing him coyly.

Elliot took his shirt, looking at the torn collar, and he smirked and thought, guess we're even now.

"Well here, you can just wear this one…" she said and took off the shirt he gave her at his apartment, handing it to him, and started to walk to her bedroom, now fully naked. She made sure to sway her hips just a little more than normal for his benefit.

"Damn woman…" he said under his breath, but loud enough to make sure she heard it as he moved to watch her. He heard her chuckle at his comment. He pulled his pants up and walked down the hallway after Olivia disappeared into her bedroom. When he got to the door frame, he paused.

"Ok if I come in?" he asked, unsure if he now had the right to just waltz into her bedroom.

She came out her bathroom wearing jeans and a bra, brushing out her hair, and a toothbrush in her mouth. "Of course, El." she said and continued brushing her teeth on her way back into her bathroom.

He walked in looking around. He was finally in her bedroom and something about it felt like… Christmas and his birthday all rolled into one. He had never dared to go into her bedroom when they were partners. That was way too dangerous. As much as he wanted to see it, seeing her bed would have given his fantasies a realness that would have made things… more complicated than they already were back then. But now this was a place he could see and would hopefully be in… a lot.

The colors were her, soft, yet bright. Her bed was made, but there were little things laying round here and there. Her glasses were tossed on her nightstand, a stack of cases on the floor. Her silk robe and a blanket were thrown over the chair in the corner with a pair of slippers on the floor next to it. She had a jewelry box, but a few items were laying on her dresser next to it. The two necklaces she wore to Fin's wedding and a pair of earrings he didn't recognize. She must have gotten them sometime in those ten years apart he thought, feeling the little tug of sickness he always felt remembering those years without her. She had pictures of Noah hanging on her wall, and one of her and her mother on her dresser.

He made his way around her bed, tossing his torn shirt into her laundry basket, and walked into her bathroom. She had finished brushing her teeth and was running her hands through her hair, eyeing herself in the mirror. He slid behind her, placing a kiss on her bare shoulder, weaving his arms around her setting his t-shirt on the counter. She leaned into him, putting her arms on top of his, and looked at their reflection. He looked back at her through the mirror and smiled.

"It doesn't matter how hard you try… You'll still be beautiful." He said, and she felt the blush creep into her face. So, this was what being in love was like. True love… she thought. She let out a small sound of serenity and turned her face to his cheek, so her nose was touching him.

He kissed her nose and let her go, so she could finish getting ready. He used the bathroom and then cleaned himself up. He washed his hands and grabbed the shirt he set on the counter. As he was pulling it over his head, he let the aroma of Olivia invade his nose. His shirt smelled like a mix of her and him. It sent a shiver throughout his body, and he smiled to himself. God must have made her pheromones specifically tailored for him he thought.

He walked out into her bedroom and sat down on the edge of the bed. She came out of her closet wearing a turquoise camisole and a thin see-through white V-neck shirt.

"You ready?" she asked.

Suddenly he felt a wave of nervousness hit him. He straightened up putting his hands on his knees and huffed out a big breath, smiling and laughed a little.

"Yea… a little nervous… not sure why though." He said, gripping his knees.

She smiled at how he was starting to feel comfortable telling her how he was feeling so openly and quickly. His feelings use to be like a big can of worms. The worms were always trying to get out, and he would seal the can up nice and tight. But eventually the can would bust… sometimes explode, and there would be worms everywhere.

He did confide in her more than anyone, but it was still tough to get him to just say how he was feeling. Now he was openly sharing with her. She'd like to think it was them finally sealing the deal and opening the flood gates to the eons of feelings they had, but it was probably a little bit of the therapy as well.

She walked over to him and placed her hands around his neck and kissed him. It was a slow and simple kiss. She sent relief throughout his mind through her lips. When she pulled back, she said, "He's going to love you... just as much as I do."

He sighed, believing her. It had been a long time since he'd dealt with a young child, but he was sure it would be like riding a bike. He stood up taking her in his arms.

"You know… this is the first time I've ever been in your bedroom…" he said, a glint in his eye, his hands moving down to her ass.

She laughed, "Well I'll have to give you the full tour later…" she said. "You've already seen the kitchen…" she said with arousal in her voice.

"Yea, I really loved the kitchen…" he said swaying with her a little. "I bet I'll really love the rest of the tour…"

On their way to pick up Noah, Olivia decided to check her messages. She only had two from Fin, and one from Rollins. She had threatened them with their lives if they bothered her this weekend with anything less than an apocalypse. Fin had come back to work Saturday from his honeymoon, and he was in charge till Monday. If they couldn't handle things for two days without her, then she had bigger problems. But both the messages from Fin were just check-ins and updates, and the one from Rollins sounded like a check-in, but she sensed there was ulterior motives.

"Well, that was quick," Elliot said, "Not much to report then huh?"

"Yea, Fin came back Saturday, so he's covering things till Monday. Honestly, I'm surprised he only called twice. Although I did threaten them within an inch of their lives if they bothered me this weekend." she said smiling thinking about the past two days. She looked over to him smirking.

He reciprocated her feelings, smiling back using their silent communication skills. He squeezed her hand as they pulled into a parking spot on the street.

"No messages from Bell?" Olivia asked.

"No… she told me to take two days… get my head together." He said with a hint of hesitation.

Olivia noticed the slight tension in his voice when he answered her but decided to let it go. She was sure if there was something important going on he'd tell her.

"I'll be right back El." She said as she leaned over and kissed his cheek before letting herself out to pick up Noah.

He sat there and felt nervous again. He focused on his breathing like his therapist taught him to combat his anxiety and it started to ebb. He thought about Olivia and how motherhood had changed her. Changed her in a good way. He always knew she would make an amazing mother and had always hoped she would get the chance. He had secretly hoped deep down in his innermost thoughts that he would be the one to give her that.

He imagined, on more than one occasion, what their children could have looked like. He felt a bit of sadness wash over him knowing the chance of that happening was minuscule if any. But he was happy for her and grateful she wanted him in Noah's life. Even though Noah wasn't his biological child, he was still going to love him as his own. And who knows… maybe in the future they could adopt together.

Just as his mind started to wander to other things he wanted with Olivia, her voice brought him back. He looked up at the brownstone and saw her and Noah saying goodbye to the parents who hosted the slumber party. Elliot got out and walked up on the sidewalk and leaned against his car.

Noah was talking Liv's ear off telling his mom all the details of the night. Liv brough him over to introduce them.

"This is my friend Elliot." Liv said to her son. Noah looked up at him.

"Nice to meet you." Elliot said, smiling at him, then looking at Olivia who was beaming from ear to ear.

Noah stuck his hand out and said, "Nice to meet you. I'm Noah." Elliot took his hand and shook it, his heart melting.

"So how do you know my Mom?" Noah said adjusting his backpack.

El shot Liv a look, giving her a gap to answer that question, not sure what she wanted to tell him.

"Well, Elliot is a police officer too. He's a detective. We use to work together." She said. "Is it ok if he hangs out with us today?"

"Sure!" Noah said. Olivia opened the backseat for Noah to get in, and Elliot opened her door for her.

When he got in the driver seat, he noticed Noah looking around the car, taking in his new environment. They had only just met, and already he could tell her son had stolen his heart at this first meeting, just like his mother had twenty-two years ago.

Olivia turned to Noah and said, "I bet Elliot would love to go to the park and teach you how to throw a curve ball…" she said looking to Elliot. Noah's eyes widened and he looked at Elliot.

"You know how to throw a curve ball? He said, sheer excitement in his voice.

"I sure do. I taught my son, and I can teach you too." Elliot said looking at Noah in the rear view.

"Really? That's awesome!" Noah said then looked upset as he remembered something.

"But Mom, I don't have my glove!" Noah said whining just a little bit.

Liv smiled and opened her mouth to say something, but Elliot said, "Hey Noah, I don't have my glove with me either, but if it's ok with your Mom, we can swing by a store on the way and pick up some stuff?"

Noah turned to look at his mom, eyes wide and hopeful.

She smiled at Noah and said, "Sounds like a plan."

He yelled hooray and sat back in his seat.

"So you have a son?" Noah asked Elliot.

"Yes, I have two. Richard and Eli. They are both older than you, but maybe sometime soon you can meet them." Elliot said with hope in his voice glancing at Olivia.

"How many kids do you have?" Noah said and it made Olivia and Elliot both laugh.

"I also have three daughters." El said still chuckling.

"Wow… you have a lot of kids…" Noah said, and Liv and El both chuckled again.

Olivia glanced over and watched Elliot continue to answer all her son's questions. She could tell these two would be best friends before too long. Her heart was bursting with joy. The two loves of her life were getting along, and she felt a warmth spread over her. It was happiness.

They arrived at the park a little after three in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day. The sun was out, but the temperature was in the seventies. The store Elliot stopped at was one of those tiny little places squeezed in between a bodega and a café and if you blinked you might miss it. He bought Noah a bat, ball, glove and a hat. Liv insisted she pay, but Elliot wouldn't let her. He said they could stay in his trunk; this way Noah would have them if they were using his car. Liv bought a pair of sunglasses and bought Elliot a hat making a suggestive comment about not having any sunscreen for his head. He pretended to laugh, and when Noah wasn't looking, he smacked her ass for her smart comment.

Noah was actually a pretty good pitcher for his age. He and Elliot talked about all kinds of sports, and he told Noah maybe sometime Eli could teach him how to play soccer. Olivia sat in the grass and watch as the two of them worked on Noah's technique and tried out the curve ball.

"Why don't you try to hit Mom?" Noah asked.

"Yea Mom…" Elliot said smiling, copying Noah's voice.

Olivia laughed. "I don't think you want to see me try to hit a baseball. I might need a little help." she said.

"Come on Mom! I bet you'd be good if you tried." Noah said.

"Ok, ok…" Olivia said getting up and brushing off her jeans.

"Here, I'll help you Liv…" Elliot said, his smile widening. Liv eyed him playfully over her sunglasses. She walked over to him, and Elliot put his arms around her from behind placing the bat in front of her, his body caging hers. They both gripped it, and Elliot took a deep breath in, taking in the scent of her hair, and tried his hardest to not kiss her neck.

"Ok, widen your stance a little Liv…" El said in her ear, and she shivered feeling the vibration of his voice on her skin.

"Ok, so you want to go hips before hands…" he said, and he placed his hand on her hip, turning her towards Noah, and then moving the bat after.

"Got it? Hips before hands…" he said again repeating the same motions. "And don't forget to keep your eye on the ball."

She turned her head to him, looking over her sunglasses and said, "Oh yes… I think I got it, but you know we may have to work on this position a little…" and she licked her lips, pulling her bottom one in with her teeth, and pushing her ass into him a little.

He growled in her ear a little, wishing it wasn't the bat he was holding, and said, "Oh we can definitely practice this position…" and he fought his urge to take her earlobe in his mouth.

Noah was starting to get impatient, as he yelled "Come on you guys! Mom, are you ready?"

"Ok, Noah… just like I showed you. Make sure your fingers are in the right spot." Elliot said, and Noah nodded, checking his placement.

"Ok, I'm ready sweetheart." Olivia said. Elliot and Olivia prepared for Noah to try his curve ball.

He focused, taking a breath and set his glove. He threw the ball, and it wasn't too bad at all. Olivia and Elliot swung the bat and shagged the side of the ball, popping it up and Elliot letting go of Olivia looked up, following it to catch it.

"Not bad bud let's try again. Liv… you on the other hand, you need some work." He said winking at her.

"Oh I do… do I?" she eyed him. "Ok, you just be the catcher, I think I can do it now." She said, her confidence coming out. Elliot held his hands up in jest, as he grabbed his mitt and crouched behind Olivia.

"Ok Noah, right in here." El said hitting his mitt. Noah pitched the ball to Liv, she didn't swing, and it went straight into the strike zone.

"Strike one…" Elliot said slyly and threw the ball back to Noah. "Great job! Let's do it again." Elliot said and Noah nodded.

Olivia ignored Elliot and dug her right foot into the ground a little. Noah's second pitch was pretty good too, but this time Olivia connected. It wasn't a great hit, but the ball went up and Elliot yelled, "Run Noah!" as Liv started to run to the pretend first base.

Noah chased down the ball and threw it as Olivia was rounding the non-existent third base. Elliot caught the ball and pretended to crowd the plate as Olivia came running to him. He caught her in his arms, swinging her around and they both were laughing so hard, they fell over.

Noah started laughing at them and decided to go join the fun. Liv caught him and they all laughed and laid there in one big pile.

"I wish we could do this every day." Noah said. Olivia and Elliot looked at each other. She could see the same feelings reflecting in his eyes. She paused taking a breath before she said, "Me too sweetheart… me too." And she grabbed Elliot's hand and squeezed it.

Olivia got her phone out of her pocket and said, "Let's take a picture so we can always remember this." She had already taken a few pictures of Noah and Elliot while he taught him how to throw a curve ball.

They all sat up and squished together on the ground so Olivia could get them all in the frame. She took a couple, and then they took a silly picture at Noah's request. Elliot got out his phone asking Olivia if she wanted a picture with Noah, and of course she said yes. He took a few on his phone and said he would send them to her.

"Mom, I'm gonna go play on the swings." Noah said.

"Ok hunnie but stay where we can see you."

"I will Mom." He said and ran off to the swings.

Elliot and Olivia adjusted themselves so they could watch Noah on the swing set. He pulled her into him, and she rested against him, putting her hand on his knee. He kissed her cheek, unable to keep his lips off her any longer. She hummed at the contact.

"I think you and I need a picture together…" Elliot said as he looked at her. She smiled, feeling a little blush creep in her cheeks.

"Ok, but do you even know how to take a selfie?" Olivia questioned him, a smirk on her face.

"Ha, ha…" he said taking his phone and opening the camera. He put his arms around her and brought his face close to hers. They took a few pictures, and then she kissed his cheek as he took the last one.

"Thank you…" she said.

"For what?" Elliot said, his eyes locked on hers.

"For loving me…" she said, pausing then saying, "For loving my son…"

"He's amazing Liv… you're such a good Mom." He said as he brought his hand to her face. He pulled her in to kiss her, placing his lips lightly to hers. When he ended their kiss, he looked at her, and her eyes were welling with tears. One slipped down her cheek, and he brushed it away as she smiled.
