Sparkling Blue Love
After the earth had shattered beneath her, her mind was lost in the sea that was Elliot. He was a deep blue ocean filled with vast emotion. All encompassing, forever loving, deep and tranquil, effortlessly sweet and eternally constant. He was the only thing she could see for miles and the only thing she'd ever need. He was all she could hear or smell or taste or feel as she floated blissfully, with only his sparkling blue love surrounding her.
His mind was overcome with her face. All he could see behind his closed eyelids were flashes of her. It was like he was sitting in a movie theater made just for them, watching all the memories he had, play up on a big silver screen. Images of when they were young new partners. All the stolen glances and looks between them that lasted longer than they should have. All the beautiful moments when he made her laugh and he got to see her breath-taking smile. Every stake out, every meal, every late night. They were all followed by the memories of coming back into her life. Fin's wedding, their first kiss, their first date, and every second he has spent with her since.
Even though this night was about control and dominance, it also struck something so deep inside both of them. They had connected on a level neither one of them had ever reached with another human being. It was rough and burning, possessive and intense, and yet it was the most loving moment between them yet. No boundaries, no walls… something they had always needed from each other… wanted from each other only, and no one else.
Total and complete trust, coming out of total and complete love.
Without restrictions.
Without consequences.

They had both collapsed on his bed, Elliot still on top of her, his arms wrapped around her, his cock still buried deep inside her.
They were both breathing like they had just ran a marathon. As Olivia was slowly coming back to consciousness, she felt his weight on top of her, and her body was so spent she could barely move. Every muscle was still burning, and they were both still covered in sweat. She could feel her hair sticking to her face. Elliot's hands were still gripping her, holding her.
He could feel Olivia start to try to move her legs and he realized she had to be uncomfortable. He took a deep breath in, the scent of her shampoo filling his nostrils and he attempted to move.
They both winced as he pulled out of her, and he rolled over to the side of her, his body falling like dead weight on the bed. She stayed on her stomach taking a deeper breath in now that she could fill her lungs.
He turned his head to look at her, and all he could see was her eyes looking back at him, the lower half of her face covered by her arm. She was like a deep well of love and passion and desire and trust… all the good things in his life.
"Hey you…" she said soft and sweet, and she lifted her head and smiled at him.
"Hey beautiful…" he said his voice thick with nothing but pure love for her.
"Hmmmm…" she hummed, "I will never get tired of hearing you call me that." And she grabbed at one of his pillows, resting her head on it.
"I'll never stop then." He said smiling back at her. He moved his hand to her face, brushing the hair still stuck there and tucking it behind her ear.
"That was…" he trailed off looking for the right word to describe what they just did.
"Incredible…" she finished, and smiled wider at him, biting her lower lip.
"Have you ever… had that happen before?" he asked, referring to her last climax.
"Never…" she said her eyes wide and full of surprise still. "You are the first to ever cause… that kind of…release for me." She said blushing and feeling a little tingle run down her spine at the memory.
She'd hear of women having these mind-bending orgasms and the total release, but she'd never had one, even from her own doing. Sure, she'd had good orgasms in the past, but nothing like the ones Elliot has given her, and never one like he gave her tonight.
"Well, I plan on doing that for you again and again…" he said then kissing her nose, "And again and again…" then he kissed her cheek, "And again…" he said smiling and then kissing her lips softly.
He felt her shiver as he wrapped his arm around her pulling her closer to his body, needing to be skin to skin again.
They both groaned a little, still sore as Elliot moved them and Olivia turned to face him.
He looked at the deep bite mark he left on her shoulder, and the little bruises he left down her neck, and the deep purple ones he left on her breasts.
"Jesus… I'm sorry Liv…" he said as he lightly took her chin with his hand and turned her head.
"I'm not…" she said quickly reassuring him it was exactly what she had wanted. What she had asked for.
"I got exactly what I wanted…" she said her voice on the edge of that low throaty Captain voice of hers.
"Well, you look like you were mauled by a bear…" he said trailing his fingers over the marks he left.
"Well… I'd say I just had the best "ride" of my life from one hell of a stallion…" and she smiled crinkling her nose as she laughed at her bad innuendo.
"Stallion… huh?" He said as his pride washed over him, a big grin sliding over his face.
"Hmm… yup." She nodded and kissed him before she nuzzled up into his arms, placing her head in the crook of his neck.
She laid there completely worn out and sore… and she had never been more satisfied. She wasn't sure how long it would take before she could even attempt to get up. Her legs still burned and felt like rubber. Her arms felt like they weighed a thousand pounds. Her inner thighs felt tight and tender, and she knew she would be feeling him between her legs for days. It was all so astonishingly… perfect.
She listened to him breathing, her hand haphazardly caressing his his chest. His hand traced the infinity symbol in the same spot on her hip that he had before. She could feel her eyelids start to get heavy.
"Liv?" Elliot asked softly.
"Hmmm… yes my love…" she said in a soft sleepy voice.
His heart fluttered a little at the sound of Olivia calling him her love. He tightened his grip on her, pulling her even closer to him if that was possible.
"Do you ever wish things were… different?" he asked, his mind starting to wander to the possibilities that could have been with her.
"What do you mean?" she asked, opening her eyes a little more, wondering exactly where he was going with this.
"I mean… do you ever wonder how things could have been… if I hadn't been married when we met… or if I had actually gotten divorced… would we have gotten together?"
"I don't know…" she said pausing to think about her answer. "I think everything happens for a reason, even if we don't understand why."
"Sometimes I just wonder… why now? Why not twenty-two years ago. It's just now, half our lives are over. I feel like I've known you my whole life, and I just wish I had more time… that we had more time."
She let out a little laugh at his thought process. "El, you can't think like that. I mean, I think we're doing a pretty good job of making up for lost time." She said kissing his chest and he laughed and kissed the top of her head.
"I think if we had gotten together back then, things wouldn't be as good as they are now." Olivia said, thinking back to the old days.
"You don't?" he said.
"No… I know we wouldn't have been able to stay partners. And being partners for so long, finding that trust and connection… one so deep and unbreakable, that is what made all this possible for us now. No one knows what we have, except us. That is something so singularly important to me, to only share that with you. If we had gotten together at the beginning… we wouldn't have had that. Not exactly like we do now anyway."
He was silent, taking in everything she was saying.
"And all the things that happened in the past, and the people in your life, they shaped you and are part of why I fell in love with you… faults and all." She said, as she turned her face up to him smiling at her last comment.
He laughed and took her hand, interlacing it with his.
She was right. He should know by now she was always right. Her perspective on things was why they work so well. He had a tendency to dwell. To dwell on one detail, or to dwell in the past. Sometimes that came in handy for police work, but for his personal life not so much.
She always reminded him to live in the present. To look to the future. There were things he felt like they had missed out on, but if one thing had changed in the past, then maybe they wouldn't be laying here now… in the only place he ever truly wanted to be, with everything he ever wanted.
"When did you know?" he asked her, his mind now wondering about different things.
"Know what?" she asked as a shiver ran through her. He reached down and pulled up his sheets around them, tucking her into them with him. Their sweat was drying, and their bodies had since cooled, causing Liv to feel a little chilled and just like he always had, he anticipated her needs.
"That you loved me… that you were in love with me?"
"Well…" she laughed, "Loving you and being in love with you are two different things." She said.
"Not for me." He said softly remembering the moment his world shifted.
"Oh, come on El… you can love someone and not be in love with them." She said turning herself to face him.
"Ok, well when it came to you… they were two in the same to me."
"Really?" she said, her beautiful brown eyes melting. "So, when did you know?"
"No, no… I asked you first." He said laughing. "Nice try though."
She huffed out a laugh, "Ok ok…" she started.
"I was definitely attracted to you right away…" she said stroking his ego a little, but also telling the truth.
"You had this presence in the squad room. It was all confidence and strength, and your walk… very New York. I could see why people warned me about you." She said laughing a little to herself.
"What? Warned you? Who warned you?" he said a little irritated that people twenty-two years ago were already trying to keep them apart.
"Oh my God, El relax, it's not important. What's important is that I didn't listen to them… I never have." She said putting her head on her hand and resting on her elbow.
He smiled at that. A lot of people had done a lot of things to break them apart. And they had never broken. Even with computer crimes and Oregon, they had found their way back to each other. And the ten years they spent apart… it wasn't because of someone else. Time hadn't even been able to fully come between them, because here they were now, in a tangled lace of sheets and legs and arms, naked and spent from a mind-blowing night of loving each other.
"So anyway… it was our first case together. Those two women who had stabbed that war criminal to death and cut off his... uh…" she paused looking at where his cock was beneath the sheets and then to his face to see if he remembered.
He shook his head, "Oh yes… I remember…" he said as his mind went back to the details of that case.
"It was a hard case for me. You knew that. And instead of lashing out at me or treating me with kid gloves you helped me. You didn't go to Cragen and tell him I wasn't going to cut it, you stood up for me. You were there to talk things through. Give me advice. And I loved you for it. I loved that underneath you weren't all those surface things everyone warned me about. You were so much more than that. It was sort of like a… friend love. An admirable kind of love."
He clutched his chest where his heart was and in a very dramatic way said, "A "friend" love…." and he feigned shock on his face.
"You know what I mean… El… come on!" she said, and they both broke into laughter at his teasing.
"Ok, so when did you fall in love with me…" he asked, sounding like a little kid excited to know a secret.
"Well…" she trailed off. "I don't remember when exactly, but I remember the moment I realized it."
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Somewhere between our first year as partners, up until the moment I realized how I felt, I had started to fall for you without realizing it. It was a ton of little things that would hit me. Like, a look you would give me. I would get a feeling in my stomach and for a split second I would think… maybe there's something else there… but then you would look away and I'd remember you were married and that couldn't have been what I thought… or a touch that lingered too long. And after a while we were so use to being in each other's personal space that I didn't think anything of it until I realized that other partners weren't like that, but I just couldn't keep myself from you." She said, looking deep into his eyes searching to see if he understood.
He smiled slowly. "So when did you realize it?"
She took a deep breath remembering the exact moment.
"Gitano." She said.
And he knew. He remembered it like it was yesterday.
"When I was looking down the barrel of my gun at you… and you looked straight through me and told me… "It's alright…" I knew." She said, shivering at her memory. She could remember every detail. The chill in the warehouse, the smell of damp cement. The echoing sound of Victor Gitano's voice screaming. The vision of Elliot with a gun to his head, on his knees telling her it was alright.
"I realized I was in love with you. I couldn't pull that trigger. I couldn't live in a world where you didn't exist. It hit me so hard… and I felt… ashamed." She said, looking down.
"Ashamed? Liv… why?" he questioned, tilting his head down to her trying to recapture her eyes.
She looked back up at him and smoothed her hand over his cheek before resting it back on his chest.
"You weren't mine to want… to love. You belonged to someone else. Even though you were going through a separation, I knew I could never be the one to break up your family, so I felt ashamed that I even felt that way. That I was in love with my married partner and… sad because I figured it would never happen between us and I'd always be in love with you without ever knowing what it was like to be loved back. That's why I went to computer crimes. Like I told you then… it was complicated."
She took a deep breath in and exhaled slowly… reminding herself this wasn't the case now. She knew what it was like to be loved back by Elliot. And it was better than she could have ever hoped it would be.
Elliot took her face with his hand and pulled her into a slow loving kiss. When he looked at her again his eyes were that sparkling blue that made her weak.
"I love you Olivia… I am so in love with you…" he said, his ocean of love washing over her.
How did he do that… how did he always do that she thought. Every time she thought she knew what it was to be loved by him, he peeled back another layer and surprised her with an overwhelming new way.
She smiled at him and sighed. How in the world did she get this lucky to be able to call him hers?
"So…" she said, trying to lighten some of the heaviness that just transpired between them.
"Your turn…" she said, suddenly feeling a little nervous.
"Well… I too was immediately attracted to you." He said, winding his arms tighter around her.
"You were so beautiful, but you're more beautiful now…" he said kissing her nose, and he saw her cheeks redden.
"I had a feeling you were going to be trouble…"
"What?" she said a little shocked as she raised her eyebrows at him.
"Trouble for me… for me." He said laughing and soothing her with his hands.
"We connected so quickly, and it was… effortless. Effortless to be around you, work with you, talk to you. You were, and still are a damn good cop. That hit different for me. There was something so exciting for me to be partners with someone my equal and yet so different."
He took a moment to pause letting the memory he was about to share run through his mind again.
"Do you remember that case with the young girl who committed suicide by your old apartment. And she had lived alone, and we were walking back to the car and talking about anonymity. You called yourself a monk… and I called you monkette…" he said looking at their hands clasped together.
"There was a moment, I don't know if you remember or not, where I just stood there looking at you…"
Olivia smiled, telling him she remembered that day.
"That's when I knew. That's when I knew I loved you… I knew I was in love with you… in that moment after I called you that… all I could think was how could this beautiful woman, my partner, think she was a monk… or possibly not matter. Then it hit me… you mattered to me. You mattered in a way that was more than a partner should matter. A deeper way. I wanted you. I wanted to love you and give you everything you deserved. Show you just how much you mattered. It shocked me how instant it was. I had never felt that way about a woman that quickly… ever really." He paused looking back into her eyes.
"I didn't realize I was still staring at you as this revelation was hitting me and then you caught me." He said laughing a little to himself.
"You looked at me for a second and then said "What?" and that's when I ever so eloquently shook my head and said "Nothin'…" he said repeating his response from back then in a thicker New York accent emphasizing just how ineloquent his reaction really was, and then they both laughed.
Elliot sighed after their laughing had quieted and he really let what he had just told her sink in. He had thought about that moment a thousand times. He had run it over and over and over in his head, but it was always tucked away in the deepest part of his heart and mind. He couldn't let it take over the forefront of his thoughts because… well then it might consume him and for twenty-two years he kept that moment hidden away.
"I've been in love with you for twenty-two years Olivia… so I guess you can see why I wish we'd had more time." He said softly… his confession sweeping over the both of them.
Olivia could feel tears well in her eyes. She wished the same thing sometimes too, but she wouldn't trade what they had right at this moment for anything.
"Well let's make each other a promise…" she said bringing her hands to his face.
"Let's promise to never waste a second with each other. To always make time for us. To never take each other for granted… and to always be honest." She said, a tear barely slipping out before he swiped it away.
"That way we can enjoy every second we have left. No regrets… nothing left unspoken… Promise?" She said.
"Promise." He said, then sealed his promise with a soft kiss. Elliot felt his heart overflowing.
When he looked back in her eyes, he could see the sleep settling there. This had been quite a night for them. And here he thought all he was going to do tonight was fall asleep on his couch listening to baseball and dream of Olivia. This was better. So much better.
He pulled her back into him and she snuggled close as he closed his eyes. They laid there listening to each other breathe until they both slipped silently into serenity.
