It was now February 26th, the day of the U.A Entrance Exam. This would be the day where 36 students would be chosen for the hero course at U.A.
With the acceptance rate of 1 out of 300 applicants being accepted, almost every single person applying was nervous and hoping for the best.
This was the case for two friends as they walked through the main gate of U.A.
"Is it me or does the school feel a lot bigger compared to last week?" Izuku asked as he stared at the giant building right ahead of him, already starting to feel the pressure.
"No… I see it too. I guess it's different when you know what today is going to bring." Kyouka replied as she rubbed her arm, trying to calm herself down.
They were both hoping that all of that training would be worth it and that they could pass this exam together.
Even though Izuku was confident enough about the written portion of the exam, the practical portion still worried him very much. He couldn't use All Might's power without hurting himself so he certainly had to be careful how he uses it. The practical was definitely going to test his limits.
However, Kyouka was nervous about both exams. She found herself pretty average in terms of intelligence so there was the chance she could fail at the written portion. But of course, the practical portion of the exam is one she was even more worried about. She's definitely improved her quirk within these 10 months of training, but she didn't know if it would be enough to pass. All she could do right now was hope that her improvements were enough to get through the practical.
Suddenly they both heard a voice from behind them that they hadn't heard in a while. "Stupid Deku and Earlobes."
The green haired boy turned around and widened his eyes a little as he saw Bakugo walking towards them. "Kacchan?"
The young girl turned as well and her eyebrows furrowed a little as she saw the boy she hates more than anything in the world. 'God dammit. Of course he's here too.'
"Get out of my now before I set you two on fire." Bakugo threatened as he passed by them.
Izuku smiled as he looked at his old friend and held up his fist. "Let's do our best out there. And don't think of underestimating me anymore."
"Tch. Shut up Deku." The ash blonde boy responded as he kept walking, not looking back.
The past 10 months had been strange for both Izuku and Kyouka regarding Bakugo. Ever since that sludge villain attacked, Bakugo has been taking it easy on Izuku and he's been just pretending that neither he or Kyouka exists.
Kyouka loved the peace and quiet. She counted herself lucky every day when she didn't have to hear Bakugo go on about his bullshit. It was some of the best months of her middle school life, not having to deal with him at all. And it was even better since she spent every day of middle school, spending hours with Izuku after school.
Unfortunately, he was here to take the exam along with them. Would this mean that he'll be in U.A with them? As much as Kyouka hated Bakugo, she couldn't deny how intelligent he is and how powerful his quirk is. She hated to admit that he could probably pass this exam with absolutely no problem, but she still held onto the hope that he somehow fails and won't be in U.A with her and Izuku.
Meanwhile, Izuku kept standing there, proud of himself that he managed to talk to Bakugo like that without any hint of nervousness. He felt like he was finally growing up and that eventually, he'll be ready to take on the world.
'I'm not the same as I was before. I have All Might's quirk now and I have to remember all the work I've put in. Thanks to All Might and Kyouka, I'm actually going to be a hero.' He thought to himself as he started to walk forward, feeling confident in himself before tripping after only a few steps. 'Or I'll just die.'
The purple haired girl widened her eyes as her hero started to fall straight onto his face and outstretched her arms to hopefully catch him. "H-Hey, I got yo-"
Suddenly the young boy felt himself stop in midair which caused him to widen his eyes as well. "What the…"
"Heh. Are you okay?"
Kyouka looked towards the source of the voice to see a girl with brown hair who looked about her age. 'Who the hell is she?'
"W-Whoa am I floating?!" Izuku shouted as he started kicking in the air, which got the attention of other applicants passing by him.
The girl giggled as she grabbed the boy, putting him right back onto his feet before clasping her hands together. "I stopped you with my quirk. I'm sorry I didn't ask first. But I figured you wouldn't mind me catching you."
The teen boy smiled as he looked at the girl with his face being a little red. "T-That's an awesome quirk, you made me weightless in an instant!"
"Thanks, but an awesome quirk or not, this is all way nerve-wracking isn't it?" The nice girl asked as she smiled back.
Izuku nodded as he grabbed his backpack straps. "Yeah it is, but hopefully we can all get through it."
The purple haired girl clenched her fists a little as she watched these two talk, feeling jealous just as she did when Mt. Lady was posing in front of Izuku. But for some reason, it was a lot stronger than last time. 'Why am I feeling this way? I feel so threatened by this girl I just met. It's just nothing right?'
"I appreciate you catching my friend. I really wouldn't want him hurting himself right before the exam." Kyouka said with a bit of a forced smile as she got closer to Izuku.
"It's no problem. I'm just glad that I could help." The brown haired girl said with a smile as she shook her head and looked at Kyouka. "Well, I'll be going now. Guess I'll see you guys inside. Let's all do our best."
The girl began to walk away from the two friends and the boy smiled as he let go of his backpack straps. 'Wow, she's really nice. Wait, I forgot to thank her for saving me!'
The young girl started to feel a little uncomfortable at how Izuku was smiling at that other girl as she played with her sleeve. "Hey… I think we should head inside now…"
"Yeah, we don't want to stay outside too long and be late." The green haired boy said as he started to walk towards the entrance of U.A.
'I hope we don't see her at U.A… something about her just gives me a bad feeling.' The teen girl thought to herself as she walked with Izuku.
Before they both entered through the main entrance, Kyouka gently grabbed Izuku's wrist. "Izuku, before we go in, I have a favor to ask you."
Izuku tilted his head slightly as he turned towards his friend. "Yeah, what is it?"
"Please don't use your arm in the exam. You know your entire arm will break if you do and I don't want you getting hurt that badly even if Recovery Girl will heal you." The young girl requested as her grip around his wrist tightened a little.
The teen boy shook his head before smiling at her. "Don't worry, I won't use my arm Kyouka. I'll avoid as much damage to my body as possible."
Kyouka let go of the boy's wrist and sighed in relief, knowing she can trust Izuku to not use his arm. "That's good to know. So are you ready to head in."
"Ready as I'll ever be." Izuku responded as he turned back to the entrance.
Both teens then entered U.A, ready to begin the exam they've been training for.
Now Kyouka was sitting in a dark auditorium, sitting to the left of Izuku with Bakugo on his right.
This was where everyone was supposed to meet for the exam orientation. First, they would take their written tests and take the practical right after.
Suddenly all of the lights started to turn on with a giant screen in the middle showing the U.A logo and a man with long blonde hair standing right in front of the screen.
"What's up U.A candidates! Thanks for tunin' in to me, your school DJ! Come on and lemme hear ya!" The man shouted but was answered with silence. "Keeping it mellow, huh?! That's fine, I'll skip to the main show! Let's talk about how this practical exam is gonna go down, okay?! Are you ready?! Yeah!"
Once again, he was met with silence and the purple haired girl covered her ears as the man shouted, not feeling comfortable with how loud he's being. 'Dammit… I hope he stops this screaming soon.'
However, this caught the attention of a red eyed boy as he raised an eyebrow. 'So Earlobes doesn't like loud noises huh?'
Meanwhile, a certain boy was currently fanboying as he put his hands over his mouth with sparkles forming around him. "Oh my goodness, it's the Voice Hero, Present Mic. So cool! I listen to his radio show every day of the week. It's so crazy nuts that all the U.A teachers are Pro Heroes."
"Just shut up." An annoyed Bakugo grumbled as he crossed his arms.
'I wish this asshole could shut up once in a while.' The teen girl thought to herself as she glared at the explosive boy before giving a look of admiration at the fanboy.
Present Mic continued his announcement despite the silence he was getting. "Like your application said, today you rockin' boys and girls will be out there conducting ten-minute mock battles in super-hip urban settings! Gird your loins, my friends! After I drop the mic here, you'll head to your specified battle center, sound good?"
All of the students got their own cards, telling them their examinee number and battle center.
"I see. They're splitting us up so we can't work with any of our friends." Bakugo said as he glanced at Izuku's card.
"Yeah. You're right." Izuku said as he also looked at the cards of his old friend and his best friend. "Our examinee numbers are one after the other, but we're assigned to different battle centers."
"Get your eyes off my ca-" The ash blonde boy started to say before cutting himself off, seeing that Deku was looking at Earlobe's card. "Tch."
'I'll crush that nerd some other time. He's been acting way too high and mighty recently.' Bakugo thought to himself as he felt himself getting angry.
"Dammit. I was really hoping we could work together." Kyouka said as she sighed, seeing that she was going to have her exam in Battle Center C.
"Yeah, but at least we'll be close by right?" The green haired boy asked as he smiled at his friend.
"Right. After that, we can celebrate passing together." The young girl responded as she smiled back.
Of course, she was sad that she wouldn't be seeing Izuku until after the exam was over. It would leave her nervous, not knowing how he's doing and if he's hurting himself or not. She was hoping to be there for him so she can make sure he doesn't break his entire arm after using his quirk and help in any way she can.
She knew he was still going to use fingers, but sadly breaking his fingers seemed to be his best chance to pass this exam so it wasn't like she could tell him to avoid that.
"Okay, okay, let's check out your targets! There are three types of faux villains in every battle center! You'll earn points based on their level of difficulty, so better choose wisely! Your goal in this trial is to use your quirk to raise your score by shredding these faux villains like a mid-song guitar solo! But, check it! Make sure you're keeping things heroic! Attacking other examinees Is a U.A no-go, ya dig?!" The blonde man explained before seeing a hand raised.
Suddenly a boy stood up from his seat with his hand still raised. "Excuse me, sir, but I have a question."
"Hit me!"
"On the printout, you've listed four types of villains. Not three. With all respect, if this is an error on official U.A materials, it is shameful. We are exemplary students. We expect the best from Japan's most notable school. A mistake such as this won't do. Additionally, you with the unkempt hair." The boy who was wearing glasses said before pointing at Izuku. "You've been muttering this entire time. Stop that. If you can't bother to take this seriously, leave. You're distracting the rest of us."
Izuku widened his eyes when hearing this and covered his mouth, feeling pretty embarrassed as he heard laughter around him. "Sorry…"
Kyouka couldn't help, but glare at that boy who seemed so full of himself. 'Who the hell does he think he is? He can't just call out Izuku like that in front of everyone. This asshole shouldn't get in either. Bakugo is bad enough as it is.'
She felt herself hoping a lot of people wouldn't make it into U.A today. First Bakugo, then that girl, and now this boy scolding Izuku. The last thing she wants is to spend the next 3 years of her high school life with them.
Present Mic waved his hands down to calm everyone down as he smiled. "Alright, alright, examinee number 7111! Thanks for calling in with your request! The fourth villain type is worth 0 points! That guy is just an obstacle we'll be throwing in your way! There's one in every battle center! Think of it as a hurdle you should try to avoid! It's not that it can't be beaten, but there's kinda no point! I recommend my listeners try to ignore it and focus the ones on top of the charts!"
"Thank you very much. Please continue." The boy with glasses said as he bowed down as he sat back down.
The teen girl started to twirl around her earphone jack as she looked at the screen, seeing the different types of faux villains. 'There's no way I'm going up against that zero-pointer. Maybe I should focus on the smaller ones instead. But it's possible I could take down the three-pointer as well if I use both of my earphone jacks.'
"That's all I've got for you today! I'll sign off with a little present, a sample of our school motto! As general Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down, 'a true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes.' Mhm, now that's a tasty sound bite! You ready to go beyond?! Let's hear a Plus Ultra!" The Pro Hero shouted with the words 'Plus Ultra' appearing on the screen. "Good luck! Hope you practiced more than hitting just books!"
Kyouka sighed in relief at the fact that Present Mic was done being so loud. Her ears were feeling better already.
But now there are more important things for her to worry about. How many points she can manage to get in 10 minutes before the exam ends.
Kyouka was now waiting right outside the entrance of Battle Center C along with dozens of other examinees.
She had no clue what kind of quirks everyone else had, but surely they're going to bring some competition if they've applied to U.A.
She then decided to look at the other examinees to see if there's anyone she should be worried about.
Nothing seemed too out of the ordinary so far. Some of the notable people she saw were a short boy with purple balls on his head, a blonde boy with a black lightning streak on his hair, and a floating pair of clothes that seemed to be a girl due to the body shape.
Suddenly, the floating pair of clothes started to strip naked which made Kyouka's face go red as she looked away. 'Is she serious right now?! Even if she's invisible, it's still weird having some girl go naked in public! Thank god Izuku isn't here to see this.'
"Nice." The boy with the purple balls said with a thumbs up which earned him a fist bump from the blonde boy.
'Of course I get grouped in with the idiots.' The young girl thought to herself as she facepalmed. 'At least that girl and the boy with glasses aren't here with me. And even better, Bakugo isn't here with me either and he's certainly not with Izuku.'
She then shook her head, not wanting to focus on that right now, and started to walk towards the giant door before squatting down.
The purple haired girl then plugged one of her earphone jacks into the ground, doing her best to listen for the villains in the battle center.
'Okay, they're all around the battle center, but it seems like there's a higher number of them on the left side. If I get there first then I'm bound to get a higher point count. However, it seems like the larger ones are there as well. Well, I guess that's a risk I'll have to take.'
She thought to herself before unplugging her earphone from the ground as she stood back up.
Kyouka then began her breathing exercises as she placed her hand on her chest, slowly starting to feel her heartbeat go faster. She figured that since the villains are just robots, she'd want to have the most destructive power possible.
'I can do this… I know he believes in me and I can't let him down.'
Izuku was waiting in front of Battle Center B, wearing a red t-shirt since the top half of his tracksuit was pretty much ruined from last week's training.
He took in a deep breath before slowly letting it out as he looked at the giant door in front of him. 'This is it. Time to put 10 months of training to the test and use All Might's power to win. I have to give it my all. I will become a hero, just like I've always dreamed. I know I can do it if I just do my best.'
He then looked at his hands, counting to 10 with his fingers. 'Okay, I only have 10 chances to attack and hopefully that'll be enough for this exam. I told Kyouka I wouldn't use my arm for this exam so avoiding that would be for the best. I can't waste a finger on just single one-pointers either. My best chance is to attack either the three-pointers or when they're in groups. That'll surely gain me a higher point value'
The green haired boy was confident enough that his strategy could work as long as he could find enough villains. But of course, he would have to be careful to attack the villains when the other examinees weren't around. He wouldn't want to accidentally hurt anyone with this power and surely he would be penalized for something like that as well.
He started to look at the other examinees, noticing how they have special gear which made him wish he could get something to help with his hands. Maybe in his hero costume, he could request support for his hands.
Soon he spotted the nice girl who saved him earlier which made him smile, knowing he has a chance to thank her now.
'I should probably go thank her for helping me back there instead of just complimenting her quirk.' The young boy thought to himself as he made his way to the girl with a smile on his face, ready to thank her before feeling a hand on his shoulder. He then turned around and widened his eyes to see the boy with glasses from earlier. 'He's here too?!'
"She looks like she's trying to focus on the trials ahead. What are you going to do, distract her, and ruin her chances to succeed?" The boy asked as he gave Izuku a suspicious look.
Izuku frantically shook his head as he looked at the taller boy, trying to defend himself. "N-No of course not! I wouldn't do anything like that!"
"Hey, over there. That's the guy who almost bit it out front earlier."
"Practically wet himself in the lecture hall."
"Dude, what a loser. But one less rival to worry about I guess."
"He's out."
"Why do I feel like everyone has written me off already?" The green haired boy thought to himself as he lowered his head in defeat.
He then slapped both of his cheeks as he looked back at the giant door, trying to get back in the game.
'I can do this… I know she believes in me and I can't let her down.'
"Right, let's start! Get moving! There are no countdowns in real battles! Run, run, run listeners! You're wasting airtime here!" Present Mic announced to all of the examinees as he stood on top of a tall tower.
'Shit!' Kyouka thought to herself as she started to get pushed by everyone else, but soon managed to start running as well, doing her best to stay in front in the meantime.
She immediately ran towards the left side of the battle center and unfortunately she wasn't alone as she saw a few people running with her as well.
Hopefully, she could rack up a decent amount of points within these 10 minutes and she hoped Izuku could get enough points as well.
She couldn't deny that she was still worried about the boy and what his condition he would be in after the exam. Since his own quirk breaks his body, he would have no choice but to break his fingers. She hoped that he wouldn't have to break all 10 of them and could get away with only 5 at most.
But knowing him, he'll do whatever he can to pass this exam even if it means that all of his fingers would be broken.
At least she didn't have to worry about him breaking his arm since the villains looked like they could be destroyed fairly easily and he wouldn't be dumb enough to use his arms on just a couple of robots, rendering his arms useless. The only scenario she could imagine him using his arm was with the zero-pointer, but there was absolutely no point in destroying it so there were no worries there.
She has enough confidence that he can get through this practical exam. If anyone could make it through, it was him.
But for now she has to worry about herself and make sure she passes and gets into U.A with him.
Soon she came across a villain and it seemed to be a two-pointer before it charged at her. "Target acquired! Terminate!"
The purple haired girl smirked as she looked at the villain and launched her earphone jack at it, plugging it before channeling her heartbeat into the villain, destroying it.
"Okay that's 2 points, I just gotta keep this up." Kyouka said to herself before seeing a three-pointer arrive. "It's going to be 5 points soon enough."
She then plugged both of her earphone jacks into the villain before channeling her heartbeat in the villain, disabling it instead of getting completely destroyed. 'Well that works too I guess.'
Suddenly a one-pointer came up from behind the girl with its arm raised, ready to attack her. She turned around and gasped as she unplugged her earphone jacks from the disabled three-pointer, hoping she won't be too late.
"Termina-" The villain didn't finish as it was destroyed by a boy with long black hair using just his arm which seemed to be hardened.
"Careful now! I don't want anyone getting hurt in this exam!" The boy said before running off to find more villains.
The teen girl sighed in relief as she looked at the destroyed remains of the villain before running to find more villains. "I definitely wouldn't mind him being in my class compared to everyone else I've met today."
It's only been a couple of minutes since the exam had started and Izuku was currently running around, doing his best to find a villain. Thankfully, he wasn't too behind when the exam started so he managed to be ahead of some of the examinees.
However, he just wished he knew exactly where the villains were in this battle center. Having Kyouka here with him would definitely be a huge help since she could help locate the villains. But he shook his head at that thought, not wanting to depend on her too much and it also made him confident that she could get points with ease.
Soon he came across two one-pointers and a two-pointer right behind the two smaller villains which made him smile in relief.
"Finally some villains." Izuku said to himself as the villains charged at him before he aimed his left arm at them. "Smash!"
He then flicked his middle finger, firing a strong gust of wind towards the villains, destroying them in an instant.
The green haired boy grunted in pain as he looked at his broken finger before shaking his head. "I-I shouldn't worry about that now. I need to keep going and get as many points as I can. 4 points is only the beginning."
"Six minutes and two seconds left!" Present Mic announced to everyone which made the boy run to find more villains.
Kyouka currently had her earphone jack plugged into the ground, listening in for more villains before she looked to the right. "Sounds like there's more that way. I have less than 6 minutes left so I have to make it all count."
She then unplugged her earphone jacks from the ground before running to her right. So far she was at 17 points so she figured that if she kept it up at this rate then she'll have a fair amount of points before this exam is over.
She wished she knew if 17 points alone were enough to pass this exam, but there was no way she was going to take any chances. For all she knows, she could be super behind everyone else. She had to get the most points possible and that means speeding up her process in finding and destroying villains.
When she turned the corner, she ran into a two-pointer and got ready to plug her earphone jack into it before the villain seemed to suddenly shut down. "What the…"
"Sorry about that, but it's every girl for herself out here right?" A disembodied female voice asked before running off.
'Is that the naked chick from earlier?' The purple haired girl thought to herself as she did her best not to imagine it. Being naked in such a public space was just one of the worst things possible in her mind and this girl had no issues with it.
This made her wonder what other quirks some of these examinees had. Surely, Izuku would be fanboying left and right if this wasn't an exam. But this girl's quirk was one that she wouldn't want to hear Izuku mutter too much about, especially if he's going to mention her getting naked.
She then saw two one-pointer up ahead and ran towards it before seeing them both get electrocuted by the blonde haired boy from earlier. "Oh, this is awesome!"
"Come on." The teen girl grumbled to herself before running off in a different direction. "I hope Izuku is having better luck than I am."
"Smash!" Izuku yelled out as he flicked his left thumb at a three-pointer, destroying it like the other villains before.
Now all of the fingers on his left hand were broken and he was doing his best to ignore the pain in each finger.
"O-Okay my left hand's done, now time to use my right hand. 18 points alone isn't going to cut it. I have to find larger groups of villains." The teen boy said to himself as he clenched his right fist. "I have to pass this exam."
He then ran onto the main road where everyone else was and widened his eyes at what he saw. All around there were so many destroyed villains on the ground. He even saw the nice girl from earlier destroying some as she made them float and dropped them.
"Okay, that should be at least 28 points." The brown haired girl said to herself in a tired voice before running off to find more villains.
'28 points?!' He thought to himself, realizing just how behind he is.
Now the boy with glasses was kicking and destroying villains. "That puts me at 45!"
'How'd he get so many?!' The green haired boy thought to himself as he started to hear other examinees around him.
"32 for me!"
"Hey back off! That one's mine!"
Izuku worriedly looked around, trying to find any villains that he could destroy but he saw none. He realized how far he was falling behind, assuming that people in other battle centers have more points than he does. 'Crap! I'm falling behind, at this rate there won't be any villains left for me! I'm gonna fail!'
The teen boy started to search for more villains, but soon he felt a strong rumbling in the ground as everyone started to look in the direction of the rumbling before seeing the giant zero-pointer robot in front of all of them.
'Isn't this a little extreme?!' The young boy thought to himself as his mouth gaped open, knowing how easily that thing could crush him.
The zero-pointer then punched the ground, blowing a strong gust of wind towards everyone before they all started to run away.
Izuku kept standing there as he looked up at the robot before falling on his butt, not taking his eyes off of the giant villain. "This is a disaster! I gotta run and find more villains! Crap, I can't stay at 18 points!"
He began to crawl away, ready to go and find some more villains before time was up. Hopefully, there would be enough time for him to get at least 10 more points.
"Less than two minutes remaining!" Present Mic announced which made the boy widen his eyes as he looked up.
"Two minutes?! It took me 8 minutes to only get 18 points!" The green haired boy shouted as he started to stand up.
'I have to catch up now! I have to do whatever it takes to get enough points! I can't waste all this training!' He thought to himself before hearing someone cry out in pain.
"Ow!"
Izuku turned around to see the nice girl from earlier stuck under some debris as she struggled to free herself.
Suddenly he ran towards the girl at full speed with a look of determination on his face. He didn't know what exactly he was thinking at this moment, but all he knew is that he has to do whatever it takes to save that girl.
Kyouka was now doing her best to run away from the giant villain along with other students as she looked back. 'Fuck! That villain is a lot larger than I anticipated!'
That black haired boy from earlier was staying behind, using his quirk to destroy debris that was trapping other examinees, doing his best to help out. "Come on let's go, guys! We can't take this thing head on so let's run!"
The purple haired girl then stopped as she clenched her fists, turning around before running towards the boy. 'Dammit Izuku, you really are a huge influence on me sometimes. But that's one of the reasons I love you.'
"Hey, let me help." She said to the boy as she plugged her earphone jacks into some of the other debris before channeling her heartbeat into the debris, destroying them.
"Thanks! That's real manly of you to stay and help!" The boy said with a thumbs up before grabbing an examinee with an injured leg and running away. "I'll take her away, you can take the other one!"
Kyouka nodded and looked down to see the short boy with purple balls on his head, laying on the ground with blood streaming from his head as he groaned. "S-Someone please help…"
'Of course I get him...' She thought to herself as she sighed and picked up the short boy, putting him on her back before running away from the zero-pointer.
Soon she felt some slight rumbling in the ground and heard the sound of something crashing down from her right as she looked in that direction. 'Wait, isn't that where Battle Center B is? Is Izuku okay? I hope he wasn't anywhere near that.'
"Just one minute left!" Present Mic announced which didn't bring any attention to the girl as she kept running and looking to her right, still concerned for Izuku.
With how large that zero-pointer is, he could easily get hurt by it if he was too close to it. Was he caught in the debris like some of the other examinees were? Did he get hurt badly by it? At this moment, she was no longer concerned about passing or failing the exam, all she wanted to know is if her hero was okay or not.
"And that's it." Present Mic said as he pointed at his watch. "Times up!"
Alarms started to blare all around the battle center and Kyouka stopped dead in her tracks, being broken out of her thoughts by the alarm. 'Is it over?'
She was now with the other examinees and she then started to gently put down the short boy, laying him against a building.
'Are 31 points really going to cut it?' The teen girl thought to herself as she looked at the other examinees. She had no clue how many points they had which made her worried that they had more than her. She was sure that the boy with black hair would pass since he seemed pretty good at destroying those villains.
The young girl started to rub her arm a little, fearing the chance of her not passing and someone else taking her place instead. What if she was only a single point off from passing? What if saving that boy just wasted her time and caused her to lose her chance at going to U.A? Should she have just kept going and looked for another villain to destroy?
All of these thoughts were suddenly barraging her mind with the exam finally being over. However, there was nothing she could do now. The exam was now officially over and she couldn't act on it even if she wanted to.
Soon she started to hear some examinees talk amongst themselves which started to distract her from her negative thoughts.
"What do you think that rumbling was?"
"No clue man, but it sounded like it came from a different battle center."
"A friend of mine was in Battle Center B and he just texted me that some kid took down that giant villain all on his own with one punch."
"No way, are you serious?"
"Yeah, but apparently it left him completely broken. Recovery Girl had to heal his broken fingers, legs, and arm."
Hearing this caused Kyouka to widen her eyes as she immediately thought of Izuku. As far as she knew, only Izuku could take down a robot like that and be left broken after. She felt her heart beating at a fast pace again as she imagined the broken state he could've been in.
She then walked over to the examinee and gripped the collar of his shirt before giving him a threatening look. "What did the boy look like?"
The examinee widened his eyes and started to feel a little scared as he shook his head. "I-I have no clue! My friend was the one who saw him!"
"Then text your friend and ask him." The teen girl demanded as she looked the examinee dead on the eyes.
The examinee nodded and felt himself shaking as he texted his friend before getting a response. "H-He has green hair and has freckles on his face. I'm sorry, that's all he told me. Please don't hurt me."
The purple haired girl gasped as she pushed the boy back, having a shocked look on her face. 'He told me that he wouldn't use his arm. Why did he use it on the zero-pointer? And why were his legs broken as well? Just how badly was he hurt?'
She was certainly relieved at the fact that Recovery Girl healed him, but it didn't change the fact that Izuku broke himself even more than she asked him not to.
Kyouka knew that she would have to ask him about it as soon as everyone is released from the exam.
She had to know why he would attack the zero-pointer when there was no point and why he didn't just run away like everyone else.
Everyone was currently leaving the U.A campus and Izuku was standing in front of the main gate, waiting for his friend to arrive.
He couldn't believe what just happened, he knew that All Might's quirk made him really powerful, but he didn't expect it to be enough power to take down that giant villain. Unfortunately, he broke his legs and arm in the process, but it was worth it since he managed to save that girl. And luckily she saved him after he fell. There's a good chance he would've died if it weren't for her and he was grateful.
But there was something that was still bothering him. In that whole exam, he only managed to get 18 points and he was sure that so many other examinees got more points than him. Of course, there's still the possibility that he could somehow pass with 18 points, but that possibility would be very slim.
He was also feeling bad at the fact that he used his arm even after telling Kyouka he wouldn't. He knew he could probably just lie to her since he showed no physical signs of getting hurt, but he didn't want to lie to her about this.
"Izuku." Kyouka said in a bit of a serious tone as she appeared out of nowhere which made the boy jump before looking at her.
"O-Oh hey, Kyouka! I'm sorry I didn't see you there! I guess I was lost in my thoughts…" The green haired boy said as he nervously laughed.
"I have a simple question for you." The young girl started before she crossed her arms. "Why did you break your arm and legs to destroy the zero-pointer? I'm not mad or anything, but I just want to know why you would hurt yourself to destroy a villain that was 0 points."
"Oh that… well that nice girl who saved me from falling earlier was trapped under some debris and at that moment I acted purely on instinct. I used my quirk to jump to the villain's face before using my entire arm to destroy it. At that moment all I could think about was saving her." Izuku said he looked to the side a little.
The purple haired girl widened her eyes a little, hearing that he hurt himself badly just for that girl. She started to feel jealous like before, wondering if he's starting to like her. Did she manage to get into U.A? Did she thank Izuku with a kiss?
She didn't like any of the thoughts that were going through her head right now and she just wanted them all to stop. She felt scared that she could potentially lose Izuku and she didn't know what exactly to think right now.
Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder and she looked to see Izuku raising an eyebrow at her. "Kyouka? Is something going through your mind right now? Are you sure you're not mad at me?"
Kyouka shook her head as she looked down at the ground. "No I'm not mad… May I ask what happened next?"
The green haired boy nervously laughed once again before he sighed. "Well, I miscalculated everything when I destroyed that robot and I didn't realize how high I was in the air and I started to fall with no way to save myself with all of my left fingers being broken. But suddenly that girl slapped me and saved my life by making me float. But even though I almost died, I'm glad I was able to help her. I mean helping people no matter the cost is what it means to be a hero right?"
The young girl started to smile, feeling relieved that Izuku saved that girl to be a hero. She figured he would save anyone who was trapped under the debris and it started to make her feel better. She also had to admit that she was a little grateful to that other girl for saving Izuku's life. So maybe she could give the girl some leeway. Of course, she still didn't like the fact that he risked his life and easily could've died in the exam, but she decided not to bring that up, not wanting to make him feel bad.
The purple haired girl nodded and gave the boy a thumbs up. "That's right and a hero is just what you're meant to be."
"Actually… I'm not too sure about that…" Izuku said as he started to look a little ashamed of himself. "I did pretty horribly on the practical exam… I only got 18 points…"
Kyouka gasped at hearing this, not expecting him to get fewer points than her. She figured he would get a40 at the very least. She could tell him how many points she got or tell him that he probably could've gotten more without realizing it, but she learned from him that being positive is one of the best ways to handle a situation sometimes. "Hey, it's okay. I'm sure 18 points is enough for you to pass. There's no way the hero course would turn down someone who risked his life for another person. You're going to make it in U.A and I'll be there by your side."
The young girl gave her hero a wide smile right after which made him smile as well before giving a small nod. "Maybe you're right… I'll make sure to have my good luck charm with me so I have a better chance at passing."
Izuku then reached behind his backpack and pulled out his purple guitar keychain.
Kyouka laughed a little before reaching behind her backpack and pulled out her All Might keychain. "I'll have mine too. Promise we'll both hold onto them when we get our acceptance letters?"
"I promise." Izuku said before gently tapping his keychain with hers.
Now the two friends would have to wait for the results of the exam, but they were both hopeful that good things would happen.
'We just have to pass together. I have to believe that I will be with him.'
A/N
Chapter 20 is done and god damn I felt the pressure on this chapter. This chapter took a lot longer to finish since I rewrote about half of it because I didn't like how I handled some scenes before I changed them. And even now I still believe there are scenes I could've done so much better at. The Ochako scene bothered me a little because I did want to add more drama to it. But I figured that there'll be plenty of time for that in the future so I decided to keep it simple.
I think I'm going to stop making promises on when chapters will come out. When I give myself a deadline, it just puts on the pressure and it I hate it when I'm leaving you guys waiting for a chapter on a day you expect it. But I really do feel bad though that I had to make you guys wait so damn long for any chapter and hopefully you guys don't mind too much.
So how did you guys like how I handled the entrance exam and some of the cameos I included as well? I'm assuming that some of you guys know what's going to happen since Izuku got 18 villain points along with the 60 rescue points he gets from saving Ochako. If you want to know then look up the results of the entrance exam in canon and see what the top score is. And I didn't bother showing all of Kyouka's points since I'm pretty sure it's easy to assume that she's been doing the same thing with plugging her earphone jacks into the robots.
I was going to originally add the scene where Izuku punches the zero-pointer villain, but I imagine that being the exact same scene as in canon so I found no point in doing it. Also, I believe that only showing it from Kyouka's perspective made it seem a bit more dramatic. I hope no one minds that I didn't include that scene.
By the way I will be taking a couple of days off due to some personal stuff, not serious in any way though so don't worry. It's just stuff that'll keep me busy so I will not work on chapter 21 until then. But chapter 21 will mostly be about Kyouka's acceptance to U.A and the other stuff that happens in between so it'll be half filler. Then chapter 22 will be the first day of U.A so that'll surely be an important chapter. Or I might just make chapter 21 a short one and have chapter 22 include what I was going to have in chapter 21. So that would make chapter 23 the first day of U.A
Now here's a very important question I've been wanting to ask since like chapter 5 of this story. When I get to the USJ arc which student should I pair up with Kyouka and Izuku and where should it be? The students I've been thinking of are Momo, Kaminari, Tsuyu, and Mineta. And I'll either put them in the Shipwreck Zone or the Mountain Zone. I've been leaning towards Momo, Kyouka, and Izuku in the Mountain Zone or have Mineta there instead of Momo. I can think of some ways to handle both characters in that situation. Whoever I choose and the location I choose will determine how that arc goes from Izuku and Kyouka's side. Feel free to either PM me or leave a review on your guy's thoughts on that.
Side note. I just realized that this is the first chapter that doesn't include All Might ever since chapter 12.
Now onto the reviews!
Tonsofun94: (:
Ability King KK: And other characters will surely feel her wrath as well in the future.
Akuma's knight: If you're asking about why he didn't get it right after meeting All Might, remember that his body was too weak and having One For All would kill him with his weak body. He needs a muscular body to handle the power.
megaultrachicken157: I'm not sure if you know this, but for the first 10 chapters I released a chapter everyday and it was a fun streak honestly. But now I try to write longer chapters so they aren't coming out everyday anymore and also for most of May, I was very busy with school. I admit, I feel like all you guys deserve to get chapters at a pretty quick rate so I do my best to get them out as soon as possible, but I won't rush a chapter. I've only done that with chapter 17 so far. Also, I won't ever abandon this story because I am very passionate about writing it and I'm excited to one day finish it.
Chuck Winanaki: Wow I didn't think of using her quirk like that, good job. I might just use something like that in the future. Also, a part of me wants her to have her internship with Death Arms like in canon because I do want those two to interact again and have Kyouka holding a grudge from chapter 13. I'm still not sure though, I'll make my decision when I finally get to that part.
shadowwriter01: I'm hoping you don't mind the way I handled that. In my story, I'm sure Kyouka wouldn't be doing too much yet since she only just met Ochako, but trust me that the interactions will be more entertaining in the future.
BritishChap: Well that was the original plan for this story until I decided otherwise around chapter 2 or 3. I still wonder what would happen if I chose the crazy yandere route for this story.
Naoto Koizumi: I hope you liked the ways I had Izuku implement his fingers in the exam. It definitely helped him get a higher point count than in canon which will be significant in a future arc.
tiguylerobot: Yeah, I already have some plans for him to get ahead before the sports festival and Gran Tarino won't make an appearance until after like in canon. I wouldn't be against him getting Float before Black Whip, but I'm not sure it would work too much with the story I currently have planned.
Okay that's it for reviews!
Again, I'm so sorry for the late chapter and I hope I can get them out faster in the future!
Well that's it for this chapter, please feel free to leave a review!
