Samus ran for her life. If she could get to her ship, she could escape. The question was, could she remember the forest layout quick enough to make it back to her ship before getting caught? She didn't want to think about what would happen.
However, she did remember where the arena was. If she could make it there, she might be able to fight off Ridley for a bit. It was in a clearing, northwest of the village. She had traveled east to follow the trail of blood, so she changed directions.
In the background, Samus could hear a roar. Her time was up. Perhaps she could set up a quick trap to gain some ground. With the time she had, a simple tripwire would have to do.
Or so she thought.
Samus could smell smoke in the distance, and not a minor amount. It seems Ridley had started a forest fire, somehow. Her tripwire would do nothing if he would just burn through it. So she kept running.
When Samus finally arrived at the arena, she'd have to grab whatever she could. She thought to herself what might be useful.
An electro-whip? No, that would just agitate him more. Plasma cannon? Too heavy. Assault rifles? Maybe. The bullets could perhaps puncture through his skin
