Kyouka was standing at the station with Aizawa and the rest of her classmates as she held the case that contained her costume inside of it. Today is when everyone will be beginning their internships with their chosen hero agencies.
She was still super bummed out, but a lot less angry at the fact that she won't be with Izuku during this weeklong internship. Here she thought the universe was on her side, but it had to do a 180 on her.
But if there was any bright side to this, it's that Izuku will be interning under what seems like an amazing hero who can help him with One For All. If this hero improves Izuku's control or teaches him anything helpful, then it'll be all the worth it.
It's expected of someone who supposedly taught All Might in his highschool days after all. However, she had to admit that she was a little worried for Izuku at the fact that Gran Torino scares All Might of all people.
Well, she scares All Might too, but this hero seems to scare him the same way you would be scared of a drill sergeant.
Izuku would most likely have to go through some rough and intense training with this guy.
Before they arrived at the station, Kyouka made sure that Izuku brought along a first aid kit she personally prepared for him. It even included an ice spray that relieves pain, because she knew for a fact that he would need it.
It wasn't her proudest moment to admit that it's inevitable for Izuku to get hurt during basic internships, but safety first, right? At least any of the injuries he'll face won't be serious, that's for certain.
"Everyone has their costumes, right?" Aizawa asked. "Remember, you don't have permission to wear them out in public yet, and don't lose them or anything."
"So, would Hagakure be in trouble for streaking or wearing her costume in public?" Kaminari asked with genuine curiosity.
Aizawa just looked at Kaminari, not knowing how to process this question. "... Just be quiet and be respectful, Kaminari."
Izuku cupped his chin. "That's actually a good question… How exactly would her costume apply to those rules? It would probably be seen as indecent exposure, considering her costume consists of only gloves and shoes. But what if she only wore gloves or shoes? Would that count as her wearing her costume out in public or-"
He suddenly found Kyouka's hand over his mouth with her face turned away from him. "Please stop talking about that, Izuku… This is something you'd be best not to analyze…"
The girl's face was bright red as she kept her hand on Izuku's mouth, wanting Izuku to stop talking about Toru's public nudity as soon as possible.
"Kids…" Aizawa muttered under his breath. "Remember to mind your manners with the other heroes during your internships. Now get to it."
"Yes, sir!"
The students began to make their way to their respective trains for their internships, but Kyouka, Izuku, and Ochako chased after Iida. The three of them let Iida know that he can talk to them whenever he wanted to. Iida simply accepted their kindness and left, leaving a slightly uneasy feeling between the three friends.
Ochako soon left for her train to Gunhead's agency, leaving the two friends by themselves.
Kyouka will be heading to Shibuya, Tokyo for her internship with Crust and her train won't be arriving for a few minutes.
"Hey, my train doesn't arrive for another 20 minutes. How about I see you off?" Izuku requested, rubbing the back of his neck.
Kyouka nodded immediately. "Yeah, I'd like that."
They both walked to the line that went to Shibuya and began to wait for the train before Izuku spoke up. "Hey… Do you think Iida will be okay?"
Kyouka shrugged her shoulders. "I wish I could say for certain. His brother was attacked and almost murdered by a villain. That'd mess up anyone. It won't be an easy recovery for him, that's for sure. I can't imagine something like that happening to any of my parents… or to you."
"I feel the exact same. If either you or my mom were to get seriously injured to the brink of death, I don't know what I'd do. It's a frightening thought."
"Then let's not have those thoughts and think about only good things right now." Kyouka suggested. "I bet you're real excited for your internship, aren't you?"
Izuku nodded. "I am. I keep on imagining how Gran Torino must be. I bet he's super awesome, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's strict too. But I'm certain I'll get some amazing training while I'm there. He did specifically request me probably because of my quirk, so I'm bound to make some progress."
"You will. But you're going to be careful, right? You won't take things too far and try out 100% of your power?" Kyouka asked, narrowing her eyes at him.
"I-I won't. I promise you that I will not have a single broken bone by the end of this week. At the very worst, I might tear a muscle by pushing myself too far, but it's nothing to be worried about."
"Can you not be so casual when it comes to injuring yourself?" Kyouka pouted, poking her hero's head.
"I'm sorry, it's an unhealthy habit now. I'll try to be less casual about it around you." Izuku reassured, but got an unsatisfied look from his best friend. "Okay… I'll try to be less casual about it, period."
"That's better. But who knows, I could just be overthinking this, considering every time you did anything hero related, you ended up with broken bones. Even when we went to the USJ for regular rescue training, you still broke a finger. But… I'll put my trust in you."
"I won't let you down. But what about you? Are you excited about your internship?"
"Yeah… I am. I mean, I'm interning under the number seven hero. Why wouldn't I be excited?" Kyouka let out a forced laugh before it quickly died down. "It still kinda sucks we won't be together though."
"It does, but at least we'll both be individually interning under great heroes. But I'll…" Izuku's fingers slightly moved towards Kyouka's hand before he pulled them back without the girl noticing. "I'll be missing you…"
Kyouka widened her eyes, her cheeks a light shade of red before smiling. "I'll miss you too. This week is going to feel like a long one that's for sure."
The train then arrived before stopping in front of the teens as Kyouka hesitantly walked towards it, knowing that this'll be the last time she'll be physically next to Izuku for a week. Kyouka turned around and took one last look at Izuku, seeing him wave at her with a smile and she smiled back before stepping into the train as the train doors closed.
'See you later, Izuku.'
Kyouka had just exited Shibuya Station as the sunlight hit her face, causing her to squint as her eyes adjusted to the brightness. When her eyes finished adjusting, she turned the corner of the station entrance and saw the city of Shibuya in front of her.
"Whoa…"
'I've always known that Shibuya is crowded as hell, but seeing it in person is something else.' Kyouka thought to herself, seeing countless people cross the streets. 'But at least none of them are paying me any mind. Guess it makes sense for a big city like this to be used to celebrities like heroes. Izuku told me that Shibuya contains dozens of hero agencies. I gotta come here with him one of these days. It could be a fun trip and we could see the sights. Maybe I can take a picture of a landmark to send to him…'
Kyouka then started to look around for something to take a picture of before seeing a bronze statue of a dog. "Wait, is that…"
She walked towards the statue and raised an eyebrow. If her memory serves her right, this statue was built in the likeness of Hachikō.
Kyouka heard this story as a kid about a dog who greeted his owner at Shibuya Station every day in the past.
However, one day his owner died and didn't return, but Hachikō continued to wait by the station every single day for over 9 years until he passed away himself.
This dog is now a symbol of loyalty and fidelity, and in a way, Kyouka could relate to this dog which would probably sound weird to most people.
It didn't matter to her though. Kyouka knew how loyal she was to Izuku and how that loyalty would never waver no matter what.
Would she be willing to wait 9 years for Izuku at a single location? Without a single doubt. She'd be willing to wait 15, 30, or 50 years at that. And if she could live that long, then 100 years and more.
But if she could, she would do anything in her power to find him herself. Merely waiting for him isn't enough for her and she knew that she would grow restless and want to see him to make sure he's okay.
But what would she do if she found out Izuku had passed away whether it be by natural causes or if he was killed?
Would she become a lonely woman who feels the sadness of his passing every day until she passes away, would she simply move on with her life, would she do whatever it takes to honor him after death, or would she end her own life so she can be with him in the afterlife?
Kyouka gave a small chuckle to herself, putting her hand on her head. 'This is starting to sound like some stupid tragic love story that'll be remembered in history. I won't be having that with Izuku though. Whatever our story may become, it won't be one of tragedy. I'll make sure of it. That means taking this internship seriously and becoming a better hero so I can protect him. Still bummed out as hell that Izuku can't be here with me, but I can't let it distract me too much.'
Kyouka smiled as she looked at the statue before placing her hand on it. "Good boy, Hachikō. You keep showing everyone how loyal you are and I'll do the same."
'Maybe I won't take a picture. But if I come back here with Izuku one day, we can take a picture together with Hachikō's statue. I know I don't believe in that superstitious crap, but it could be good luck if we do that.'
Kyouka then looked at the crosswalk and gulped, seeing people crowded up and ready to cross the street.
"Oh boy… this is gonna be hectic… Makes me wish I was taller."
The girl held on tight to her case and internally screamed out a battle cry before charging into the crowd, hoping not to get swept away and lost forever.
Kyouka had made it out of that crowd alive and was now looking up at the building right in front of her before pulling out her phone and looking at it to check if she was at the right place.
"Yeah, the address and image check out. Guess I should head inside." Kyouka entered the building and saw a receptionist at the front desk before walking towards her. "Hello, I'm here for an internship with Crust. I'm a student from U.A."
"Ah, you must be Kyouka Jirou. We've been expecting you." The receptionist greeted with a smile. "Please head to the 6th floor from the elevator."
"Thank you very much, ma'am."
Kyouka walked to the elevator and entered inside before pressing the button for the 6th floor as the doors closed in front of her.
The young girl listened to the elevator music as she leaned her head back against the wall. Very soon, she will be officially beginning her internship and she has to admit that she's a little nervous. Maybe Crust is one of those guys who seems super friendly in public but is actually super serious and strict? This whole week could be complete and utter hell for her if that's the case.
She finally arrived at the designated floor and the elevator doors opened up, but instead of seeing a room in front of her, Kyouka saw pure darkness with the only light coming from the elevator.
"Um, this is freaky..." Kyouka said to herself, slowly walking into the dark room as she took out her phone for some light. "I'm on the 6th floor, righ-"
"SURPRISE!"
The lights were suddenly turned on, revealing a group of sidekicks with Crust right in the middle before they all shot out confetti from their loud confetti cannons.
"AAAAAHHHHHH!" Kyouka screamed out, falling down on her ass and dropping her phone as she put her hands over her ears before blinking, realizing what just happened. "Wh-What is going on?!"
'That both scared the crap out of me and hurt my ears!' Kyouka internally shouted at them, giving them all a small glare.
Crust cleared his throat before spreading his arms and smiling widely, his teeth sparkling. "This is our warm welcome to the Crust Agency! We all hope you have a wonderful time here!"
Kyouka took her hands off of her ears and began to scan the room, seeing a colorful banner hanging from the ceiling that read "WELCOME ANGELBEAT!" as she sweatdropped. 'I don't know whether to be flattered or kinda creeped out by that banner. Here I thought my dad was eccentric with his celebrations. And I guess I was wrong on the possibility of Crust being super serious and strict. Thank god for that.'
Kyouka sighed as she picked up her phone before standing up, starting to walk towards the Pro Hero. "Well… I look forward to working with yo-"
Kyouka was suddenly captured in a tight hug by Crust as tears streamed down his cheeks. "No, it is I who look forward to working with you, Angelbeat!"
Kyouka widened her eyes at the sudden hug before looking up at the hero. 'Wow, I guess this is a milestone, huh…? The first time a Pro Hero is saying my hero name out loud. I wish he didn't have to be so intense about it though. It's a little much, but it could be wors-'
"It warms my heart to see young, striving heroes with your kind of passion!" Crust exclaimed, tightening his hug on the girl. "Moments like these truly make life worth living! Let us all rejoice at having you here!"
Kyouka felt the life being squeezed out of her as she tried to push herself away from the hero, but it was no use. "It's worse! It's worse! It's so much worse! P-Please, let go! I-I'm going to die!"
However, her words went unheard by the hero. "I promise you that your time here will be worth every minute and that I will devote as much time to you as I possibly can!"
The girl had lost all color to her face and was now completely unresponsive, only letting out weak groans as her head fell backwards.
"Sir, I think you might be squeezing the girl a little too hard." One of the sidekicks commented, tapping Crust on the shoulder.
"Hm?" Crust looked down at Kyouka and noticed her condition, letting go of her before beginning to let out a booming laughter. "My mistake, Angelbeat! I got overly passionate about our meeting and took it too far! Forgive me! HAHAHA!"
The color returned to Kyouka's face as she took in deep breaths to get the oxygen back into her system. "I… I thought I was done for… I could've sworn I saw the door to heaven for a second there."
'Oh my god, this guy is crazy… I knew he was going to be intense, but I did not prepare myself enough for this. He's like an exaggerated All Might. But he's the number seven hero, and that has to be for a reason. But maybe I should've made Edgeshot my first choice. He seems like he has a much more chill personality and he's number five. You couldn't have told Izuku about his offer from Gran Torino earlier, All Might? Before I submitted my offers? If he had done that, I probably would've gone to Gang Orca's agency. It's also kind of my fault too for jumping the gun like that and submitting my offers on the first day when we had 2 days to do it. Fuck... Well, no use complaining now. I'm already here and all I have to do is survive the week and it'll all be over. Plus, this first day will probably be very simple and easy.'
"Now, please head to the room in the back and change into your hero costume. You'll also be provided with a locker to put your backpack and case inside of." Crust said before intensely pointing out the window. "And as soon as you come out of that room, we're going out to patrol right away!"
"P-Patrol?!" Kyouka asked, taking a step back. "Already? Don't you have to explain everything to me like what your agency does and what I'm supposed to do or not do?"
Crust nodded. "Of course I do. But that doesn't mean I can't do it while we're on the move and performing our duties. It's a lot more productive this way. Wouldn't you agree?"
Kyouka knew there was no arguing as she lowered her head. "Yes… I totally agree… The backroom, right?" She got a nod of confirmation from the hero. "Got it."
Kyouka entered the back room, closing the door behind her and locking it. 'I gotta seriously stop jinxing myself in these situations.'
Kyouka put down her case and opened it, revealing her hero costume, before taking off her school uniform and changing into her costume.
She then looked at the mirror in front of her and smiled a little as she checked out the minor modifications she made to her costume yesterday after school.
Her green choker was now studded and was reinforced with a more durable material to avoid it getting destroyed or damaged as easily as a normal choker would.
Another modification she made was to her leather jacket. The jacket now had a white lining that was visible at her wrists and the hem of her jacket which extended upwards to a white hood. Also, the hood had a design of two purple waves of ECG that perfectly matched the ones on her hair.
Her original plan was to basically add a plain black hood to her jacket, but she thought that would be too lame of an addition. She figured that if she was going to call herself Angelbeat, she might as well add some white to her jacket and have that color match the hood.
Of course, the hood was mainly for aesthetic purposes. She doubted that she would seriously wear it that often. On the other hand, it could provide a nice tactical advantage at hiding her earphone jacks, making them pop out of her sleeve or from her back whenever she needed to.
Kyouka thought that the minor changes to her costume were pretty neat if she had to say so herself. These probably won't be the only visual changes she makes to her costume, but it's enough for now.
Kyouka then stuffed her school uniform into the case before putting the case and her backpack into a locker. She looked at the All Might Keychain hanging from her backpack before lightly smacking it. 'I wish I could bring this with me, but my costume just has pockets and no belt loops to hang it from. And there's no way I'm risking that falling out in such a massive city. I'm also doing the potential pickpockets a major favor. Because if for some reason a stupid pickpocket decides to nab my keychain then oh boy…' She cracked her knuckles. 'It'll be the biggest mistake of their life.'
"Maybe the next time I change up my costume, I should add a utility belt to hold the keychain. It could also be useful for carrying a first aid kit to use on Izuku or whoever else needs it." Kyouka said, closing the locker. "I'll think about that more in detail when the time comes. Now… I guess it's time for patrol. Jeez, I still can't believe I'm doing that right away."
Kyouka exited the room as Crust gave a thumbs up. "What a marvelous costume! It perfectly suits your hero name! Now it is time to put it into action! Off we go!"
Crust created two rock-like shields from his forearms and held them up in front of his body before running towards the window.
"Wh-What are you doing?!" Kyouka asked, obviously concerned.
Crust suddenly crashed through the window, starting to fall. "Follow my lead, Angelbeat!"
Kyouka shakily pointed at the broken window. "D-Did he just jump from the window…?"
"Yep. He gets like that when he's overly excited."
"This happens at least three times a month. But it's pretty inspiring to see that kind of passion from an older hero such as Crust."
"Whose turn is it to order a new window this time?"
"Great… That's great. I'm just going to take the elevator down like a normal person. Please let Crust know that." Kyouka said, walking towards the elevator, entering inside.
'Man, I wonder what Izuku's doing right now. Probably training his ass off with his new, awesome mentor. I should give him a call when I return from patrol. Hearing his voice is exactly what I'll need by the end of today.'
Meanwhile, Izuku was standing in the middle of a room, the updated version of his costume with Full Cowling activated as a yellow blur bounced around the walls. 'Dammit, where's he going to land next?'
"I'll say, I was disappointed when I saw the strength you were using isn't even a tenth of All Might's power!" Gran Torino shouted, continuing to bounce off the walls. "That weak 5% of yours isn't going to do you any good if you stay at that level! That's why I have to be the one to force more out of you!"
Izuku kept his eyes trained on the hero before seeing that he's about to land next to the TV. "There!"
'If he wants more than 5% then I'll give him more. One For All, 13%!' Izuku suddenly dashed at Gran Torino and caught the hero by his leg before giving a small smirk.
"Gotcha!"
Gran Torino smirked back, looking impressed. "Not bad, runt."
Izuku suddenly landed face first onto the floor before groaning loudly in pain as he let go of the hero. "Th-This hurts a lot more than I remember… It didn't feel this bad during my fight with Todoroki."
Gran Torino sighed, turning Izuku with his cane as if the boy was roadkill. "Probably because of the adrenaline pumping through your body during that fight. You still felt the pain, but not as severe as it normally would've been."
"Th-Th makes a lot of sense. I don't think I should move for a little while... Or use this technique as much as I originally planned to. All of my muscles feel like they've been abused all day."
"If you want, I can draw you a nice ice bath to help relieve your pain?" Gran Torino kindly offered.
Izuku smiled. "Can you? That'd be extremely helpfu-"
WHACK
Izuku looked up to see a displeased Gran Torino, holding onto his cane.
"What was that for?! I'm already on the floor in pain…"
"You should've been aware of the risks of going overboard with the percentage you can handle! You're going to have to deal with the pain whether you like it or not!" Gran Torino scolded, raising his cane. "Do I have to beat the common sense out of you?!"
"N-No, that isn't necessary! I promise I won't go overboard in training like that again!"
"Well, I'm off to buy some groceries. Try not to fall asleep on my floor. I saw a few cockroaches this morning and one might end up crawling into your mouth." Gran Torino said with a diabolical cackle before walking towards the door, leaving Izuku on the floor.
Izuku sighed. "Yeah… I deserve this…"
Gran Torino suddenly turned towards the boy, smirking as he opened the door. "But when I get back, I don't care whether your body is healed up or not. I'm going to work you to the bone until your body can handle a higher percentage. You better pray my coupons haven't expired yet or I might be in a cranky mood and be tougher on you than usual."
"Y-Your coupons…?"
"Oh, I better be going now. So long, random kid on my floor. Geez, youth these days have no manners. He didn't even introduce himself." Gran Torino said to himself, acting like a senile old man again before leaving out the door, closing it behind himself.
Izuku felt a shiver run down his spine as he looked at the door. 'To think, he might've been scarier during his younger days. All Might really had it rough… Was he this weird back then too with his old man act? Probably not due to him being a lot younger.'
Izuku couldn't deny that Gran Torino's training has been great so far, and he already has a few ideas brewing in his head of new techniques to use with Full Cowling from watching how Gran Torino moves.
But he would be lying if he said he didn't wish Gran Torino was the slightest bit gentler with him or stopped putting up that old man act of his that weirded him out at times.
Izuku chuckled to himself before grunting in pain, remembering that his muscles are still in pain.
'Oh wait. I have that.'
Izuku then slowly began to unzip his costume, exposing his chest to the open air before reaching into his utility belt and pulling out the ice spray Kyouka had packed for him. "You're a lifesaver. Kyouka…"
Izuku flinched as he sprayed it over his chest, the extreme cold sensation hitting him like a truck. It wasn't as cold as Todoroki's ice, but it still caught him by surprise.
Soon, the pain in his chest started to fade away, now replaced with a freezing feeling, but it was an improvement.
Unfortunately, it was very unlikely he could get to spraying his entire body, but just his chest was good enough for the time being.
Now he has to hope that his body will recover by the time Gran Torino comes back or his body will be riddled with bruises by the end of the day.
'I hope Kyouka is having a nice time at her internship…'
Kyouka and Crust ran down the sidewalk as Crust had finished explaining the basics of being a Pro Hero like how they're paid and what duties they perform from crime control to possible side activities. 'At least he explained it normally. And thank god for my training with Izuku or I'd be out of breath and dead three blocks back.'
"Here in Shibuya, where the population is very dense, the likelihood of a crime being committed is much greater compared to a smaller city. However, it's made up for by the large number of hero agencies in the big city." Crust explained, a smile sticking to his face the entire time. "But don't worry, the crimes here mainly range from petty thefts to assaults. Don't be surprised if we have to break up a fight or chase down a scoundrel or two. Any questions?"
"Mostly one. If I'm driven to a corner, am I allowed to defend myself? I know it's against the law to use my quirk to harm another person, but what if I don't have a choice during this internship?"
"Ah, well you won't have to worry about that. You and I will be sticking together the entire duration of your internship, unless it's an emergency, but then you will be left with a sidekick or two to watch over you. So no matter what danger may occur, you will be alright."
Kyouka internally sighed in relief, knowing that a hero or a sidekick will always be with their interns. She really only asked that question for Izuku's sake, just in case he ever runs into trouble. She knows for a fact he can handle himself, but she'd rather not risk having him get hurt or get in trouble with the law.
"Wait! Someone is in great peril!" Crust shouted out of the blue, stopping in place and pointing across the street.
"Huh? Wh-Who?! How bad is it?!" Kyouka asked as she stopped as well, surprised and worried by Crust's sudden urgency.
Was a robbery in progress, was someone being assaulted, was there a serious injury, or did a villain show up out of nowhere and is now wreaking havoc in the city?
Kyouka turned to where Crust was pointing and her face went from worried to deadpanned in an instant as she saw a little girl who seemed to be in elementary school, crying while pointing at a tree.
"Um, Crust?"
"Mhmm?"
"Are you pointing at that little girl?"
"Mhmm!"
Kyouka held in a sigh before nodding. "Alright. Lead the way."
"We're coming! Don't you worry!" Crust shouted at the little girl as he looked both ways of the streets before crossing it with Kyouka following right behind him. "What seems to be the problem, little lady?"
The little girl wiped some snot off her nose. "C-Can you please save Snowball? Sh-She got scared after a noisy and super fast car drove past us and climbed up the tree. A-And now she won't get down."
Kyouka waited for Crust to comfort the girl himself, but she felt him nudge her with his elbow, getting the message before crouching down in front of the little girl, giving a gentle smile. "It'll be alright. Crust here will get her out of the tree and back into your arms in no time." The little girl looked a lot calmer now as she wiped her tears before Kyouka then turned to the hero. "Now do your magic, Crust."
Crust shook his head, placing his hand on the teen's shoulder. "Nope. You will be handling this."
Kyouka widened her eyes as she looked up at Crust. "M-Me? But I'm just a student and you're the actual hero here. Is this a good idea?"
"Yes, this is an excellent first step in hero work that involves absolutely zero danger to you."
"Well, you're not exactly wrong… But how am I going to get that cat-"
"Snowball." Crust corrected her.
'Did he seriously have to correct me on calling the cat by her name?'
"Snowball… How am I going to get Snowball down?" Kyouka asked, standing up. "I don't have a ladder or anything. Is there a local fire station or tool shop I can borrow one from?"
"Convince Snowball to come down." Crust simply said, pointing at said tree.
"I… don't think that's necessary. I can just use my earphone jacks to grab the ca-Snowball and bring her down here."
"If you do that, Snowball will think it's a snake and either scratch at it or end up clumsily falling from the tree, resulting in a possible injury."
"But I thought that cats can fall super high with little to no injuri-"
Crust crossed his arms, looking serious for the first time. "Angelbeat, this is something you have to do. If you can't succeed at this task then your future as a hero may already be in jeopardy as we speak. Do you understand?"
Kyouka felt a small chill run down her spine. 'Holy shit, this guy has a super serious side after all. But it seems to only come out when it comes to hero business. A lot like All Might.'
"Okay, I'll convince her to come down…" Kyouka looked up at the white cat on the tree. "Come on down Snowball. Now. Please and thank you."
Crust's expression suddenly changed into his usual boisterous one. "You must show Snowball that you care! You must show Snowball that it will be okay! You must show Snowball that you are Angelbeat!"
"Isn't that being a little too dramatic?" Kyouka asked, but got no response as she sighed.
"Is she going to save my kitty?" The little girl asked, pointing at Kyouka.
"Of course she is. In the meantime, would you like to get a little taller right now?" Crust asked before getting a nod from the girl. "And up you go!"
Crust lifted up the girl and placed her on his shoulder as she giggled. "Wow! I'm a giant!"
Crust laughed. "You're taller than me right now! How about we play a little around the sidewalk until Angelbeat gets your cat down from the tree?"
"Okay!"
"Then off we go!" Crust shouted, starting to run around with the girl on his shoulder.
"Cool, now time for me to deal with the cat…" Kyouka cleared her throat before starting to talk in a cat voice. "Come here, Snowball. Meow. Don't you miss solid ground? Meow. The tree probably sucks in comparison. Meow… Meow?"
However, the cat gave zero reaction to Kyouka before she facepalmed and groaned in frustration.
She was never the best with animals in her life. The most experience she's had was when she owned a fish when she was little. Unfortunately, it died a few months later when her parents thought she could handle feeding it on her own, and she may or may not have been a little too neglectful, wanting to write in her notebook about Izuku rather than feed the fish.
Not her most shining moment, but it was better a fish than a bird or a dog. Plus, lots of kids are irresponsible like that… At least she believes so.
Her other experiences were avoiding neighborhood dogs since sometimes their loud barks would annoy her and her experience with cats was only seeing stray ones in the streets.
But now she had to become some kind of cat whisperer or something along those lines to get this cat to come down with words alone. Kyouka cupped her chin, starting to think what Izuku would do in this situation. 'Hmm… Yeah, he would say and do that, wouldn't he? I have to open my heart to the cat and let her know that she can trust me.'
Kyouka spread her arms and smiled before starting to talk in a sweet and gentle voice this time. "Snowball, please come down. I promise you that it's safe down here with me and not a single thing will hurt you. Your owner misses you so much and I know you miss her too. I have someone I miss too, but I know him and I will see each other again in no time. Don't you want the same and be back with her?"
The cat raised her ears and looked at Kyouka for a few seconds as if judging her before she jumped down into the teen's arms and making herself comfortable, starting to purr.
"Wow, I'm surprised you came down so willingly that fast. I was expecting more of a struggle out of you." Kyouka said, looking down at the cat. "Now to wait for Crust and your owner."
Crust soon came back with two more children on his other shoulder, four children latching onto his cape, and a few parents right behind him as he smiled. "That was a fun playdate, children, but I'm afraid I must attend to my hero duties. But don't worry, we'll play more next time I see you guys."
"Awww, just a little more, Crust?"
"Are you sure you'll play with us more next time?"
'Wow, he's great with kids. Makes sense though with his personality.'
"I promise you, and a hero never breaks their promises!" Crust affirmed with a thumbs up before starting to gently remove all of the kids off him before they returned to their parents. "Now for you." He then gently put down the little girl and patted her head. "Snowball misses you, Kozue."
Kozue walked towards Kyouka as the teen crouched down. "Yeah, she does. This'll be a nice reunion."
The cat jumped into Kozue's arms and she hugged the cat before giving a bright smile to Kyouka. "Thank you, Angelbeat! You're my new favorite hero!"
Kyouka felt all of her composure fall in an instant at this little girl's cuteness before looking away. 'God dammit, why is she so adorable?! Don't think about having a daughter with Izuku one day, Kyouka! Now is not the time and place for that! You're doing hero work for god's sake! Even though it would be amazing one da- STOP IT!'
Kyouka took in deep breaths to regain her composure before looking back at the girl. "Thank you so much for that, Kozue. But also be on the lookout for Izuku. He's an up-and-coming hero just like me and I promise you that he'll impress you one day."
Kozue nodded as she kept that bright smile on her face. "Okay! I'll let my mommy and daddy know about you and Izuku too! Bye-bye, Angelbeat!"
Kyouka stood up as she watched Kozue walk away with her cat, a small smile forming on her face. "Cute kid… I'm glad that we helped her out."
"Seeing the smiles on children's faces always reminds me how amazing being a hero is." Crust commented, wiping a single tear from his eye. "There isn't a more fulfilling lifestyle if you ask me. Now let us continue! We never know who else might require our aid!"
Crust began to run down the sidewalk again before Kyouka nodded and ran after him as she looked up at the sky.
'I think I understand Izuku and All MIght a little more. It was fulfilling to see that little girl smile and I'm sure it'll be the same with other people when I help them out too. I feel like I'm one step closer to being a hero who can stand by Izuku, the future number one hero.'
A/N
Chapter 47 is done! Finally internship arc time even though this arc will only last 3 chapters including this one.
I gotta admit, I only knew of Hachiko's existence in the first place because of a Scooby Doo movie I watched as a kid. And I remembered it recently from playing Persona 5. So a portion of this chapter was brought to you by Scooby Doo and Persona 5.
Honestly, the hardest part of the chapter was describing Kyouka's hero costume even though it was super simple. The added color was hard to decide on too. Kept going back and forth with white, red, green, or even purple.
Makes me wish I was an artist right now. Because I have this image of how Kyouka looks in my head in her hero costume.
And don't worry I will be making small changes to Izuku's costume visually, but that'll come at a later time.
Now onto the reviews!
papaprep: Maybe keep that info on the down low in case of anime only fans.
Lockheart25: Thank god.
Bucio: All Might will have to sleep with one eye open from now on. I'm excited to write Kyouka being defensive for Izuku, but maybe he'll be defensive on his own too. And the Melissa and I-Island stuff are events that'll surely be some fun. Also thank you for praising the name Angelbeat. I'm actually semi proud of that name. Hope to see you review more in future chapters, but it's all up to you. Either way, I appreciate you reading this.
Dragon storm: I think it's a decent number. Over 100 seems too much for me. Also, it doesn't really matter how far you get. Remember Kaminar got over 200 and lost immediately. I feel like heroes mostly look at quirks or how the students act/fight. And I just wanted to be nice to Tokoyami and throw in a Halo reference.
LincolnRonnie94: Who knows? Find out on the next episode of dragon ball Z.
Ability King KK: Kyouka won't be the biggest Nighteye fan, but I want to have some fun interactions between the two of them.
bk201fan: And All Might had to ruin it all.
kewk: Thank you kind sir.
Ghostcraft9: Well, either way, Izuku is going to get whacked or kicked.
DiRunner: She can get more mad…
Kobic: I don't know, but Kyouka seems like the bigger threat.
Z: Maybe. These chapters kinda come out at random.
Well, that's it for the reviews!
