John and Lexi had just arrived at the airport.
John was invited to a charity event in Europe for a week, and he invited Lexi to go with him. Of course she said yes. Being able to go to Europe was something she's dreamed of since she was a little girl.
But being able to go to Europe with John Cena made it 10 times better!
They really need to get away from all the drama that's been going on to both of them.
"She's still not answering your calls and texts?" Lexi asked, referring to Nicole. He just shook his head sadly. She grabbed his hand and held it.
"I'm sure she still loves you John. She'll get over the stupid rumors soon." "Rumors that I started." she added in a depressed tone.
John apparently noticed the tone and squeeze her hand. "Please stop blaming yourself. I know you didn't mean for that to happen."
She just shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe a day at the spa could help turn that frown upside down." Lexi's face lit up when he said that.
"Really? They're real expansive though." "Hey. You deserve to have relaxation. It's the least I can do for someone that's been my friend for a long time. That being you."
She gave him a friendly smile. "John. You have no idea how much you really mean to me." she replied.
She was caught off guard when he picked her up off the ground and held her close. She was surprised, but she didn't mind.
In fact she's really enjoying the closeness and quickly settled in his arms, hugging him tightly.
They stayed like that for a while before he set her down. "We better head to our plane. They're going to take off soon."
"Yeah. You're right." she said.
It would be an 8 to 10 hour flight to Europe. But they didn't mind too much. Just being able to spend some quality time with each other makes it all worth it.
The moment they landed she squealed in delight and jumped around like a little kid. "Whoa. Easy there." he said, placing his hands on her shoulders gently.
"I'm sorry John. It's just I'm actually here in Europe!" she exclaimed. "I can see that."
They stopped at a restaurant for a quick bite. "Wow. I can't believe the food here is just as amazing as the food in America." she replied. "We really need to travel to other Countries and see what the food is like there." Lexi suggested. "Sure."
"I need to head to the bathroom. I'll be back." she replied. "I'll wait right here till you get back."
As she was washing his hands she smiled to herself, imagining herself and John being on top of the Eiffel Tower.
They would watch the stars. He'd then look deep in her eyes. Then he would lean forward and kiss her.
She shook her head, snapping herself out of her daydream. 'I need to stop fantasizing about John.' she thought to herself.
She knows she can never have John. He loves Nicole very much. And she needs to learn to accept that.
'Oh shit! I almost forgot he's waiting for me.'
She left the restroom and went back to John.
"I'm ready to go John." she said.
"We should go check in at the hotel."
Lexi nodded her head in agreement.
Three days later
The day before the charity event John decided to take Lexi shopping for an outfit to wear for the event.
"Wow. There are so many outfits to choose from." She said to John.
She felt a hand on her shoulder. "Take your time."
She tried on different outfits, but none of them seemed to match her style. But suddenly she found something that just might work.
She paid the cashier and they left.
"I think you're going to like what I have in store for tomorrow night." She said with a confident smile. John smiled back. "Can't wait."
"Now let's head on over to the spa." John suggested.
She smiled and squealed in delight. "Oh my god. You're the best John." she replied, giving him a hug.
"Of course I'm the best." John joked. "I meant it John. You're the best." she said.
"That may have been the best spa treatment I've ever had." she said as they relaxed at their hotel room. "I'm happy to hear that."
"I'm so excited for tomorrow night." She squealed in delight. "So am I." John replied.
"We should get some sleep." "Yeah. Good idea."
Both both changed into their sleep wear.
"John?" "Yeah Lexi?"
"This might be weird of me to ask, but would you hold me while I'm sleeping?" she asked, giving him her best puppy eyed look.
John smiled. "Sure. Anything."
She scooted back until she felt his arm around her waist.
She let out a sigh as she felt the warmth of his muscular body.
"Well. Goodnight John."
"Goodnight Lexi. Sleep tight."
Lexi smiled to herself.
Lexi is in a dark room, no light, feeling scared. "Hello?" she said loudly. Then a shadowy figure was approaching her, holding a knife.
"No. You stay away." The unknown figure walked closer. Lexi tried to get up, but her legs weren't cooperating. "Get away from me!"
The person then raised the knife. "NO! NO!" she screamed.
"Lexi?" she heard a voice. She didn't know where it was coming from though.
"Lexi wake up."
"Wake up."
She opened her eyes. She turned around to see John with a concern look on his face, realizing it was just a dream. He pulled her close. She was still whimpering and breathing heavily.
"Oh my god! Oh my god!" she whispered. "Shh. It's ok. I'm here." John replied softly as he rubbed her back in circles.
She started to calm down. "I'm sorry for waking you John." she replied.
"Don't apologize. Just know that you're safe with me." he said.
She smiled up at him. Without thinking she came up and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Thank you John."
"You're welcome. Let's try to get back to sleep."
She nodded in agreement. Both of them were able to sleep peacefully without anymore nightmares.
The Next Night
"You almost done in there Lexi? The event starts in about an hour." "I'm almost done. Hold your horses." she called out.
A few minutes later she came out of the bathroom, and John couldn't help but be awestruck at her appearance.
Lexi was wearing a short long sleeved sparkling blue dress. She put on heavy make up. He also noticed her ruby ear rings.
"Well? Do you like it? she asked, doing a little twirl with a big smile.
"You look amazing." John replied softly.
"Really?" "Yeah. You look like a-" he suddenly stopped himself.
She gave him a confused look. "I look like a... What?"
John was blushing. Her eyebrows went up. "We're you about to call me a princess? she asked. "Yeah."
She looked up at him, smiled and walked towards John and hugged him and resting her head on his chest.
"It's ok John. You can call me a princess if you want. In fact..." she lifted her head off of his chest and stared at him. "I'd love to be your princess." she added.
She then suddenly pulled and ran a hand through her hair, feeling a little embarrassed. "This is awkward." she said quietly.
John placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled. She smiled back.
"You ready to head out?" John asked. "Yeah. I'm ready."
At the Charity Event
Both of them were escorted over to the event by a limo. "This is easily one of the best days of my life!" Lexi squealed in delight. "What makes it even better is that you're here with me." she added, resting her head on his shoulder.
She couldn't help but admire John in his tuxedo.
John smiled. "I'm glad to be here with you too Lexi." he replied.
The moment they arrived the driver got out and opened the back door.
John got out first, then he assisted her out of the limo. He kept his grip on Lexi's hand, which she didn't mind one bit.
"You ready?" he asked. She smiled. "I'm ready."
They went inside, and she couldn't believe how lovely the ballroom looked. With a chandelier on the ceiling.
The host of the charity event greeted both of them. "Hello. You must be John Cena. Welcome." he said. "It's a pleasure to be here sir."
The host noticed a woman with him. "Who is this lovely lady with you?" he asked.
"This is Lexi Kaufman. A real close friend of mine." She blushed a little. "I invited her."
"It's a pleasure to meet you madam."
"It's a pleasure to meet you too sir." she replied.
"Well we hope you two enjoy tonight's charity event."
"Oh don't worry sir. We will." she teased.
They were assigned to a table labeled 'Special Guests'.
Sometimes some fans came by for autographs. Some of them recognized Lexi and asked for her autograph too, which she was happy to do.
They ate and chat. At one point a waiter arrived with a bottle of champagne.
John poured some in each glass. He raised his. "Here's to an amazing friend. Who's been by my side the past several years through the Ups and Downs."
She smiled and raised her glass as well. They each took a sip. Deep down though she couldn't help but feel a little sad, when he said the word friend.
'Yeah. Friend. I'm just his friend. Nothing more.' she thought to herself.
"Hey. Is something wrong Lexi?" he asked, noticed her looking a little sad. "What? No. I'm okay."
"It doesn't look like you're okay. What's bothering you? You know you can tell me anything."
She really does want to tell him what she really feels for him. But she believes that if she did, it would tear him apart and their friendship would be broken beyond repair. She just couldn't bring herself to tell him.
"I just wished my parents could've come here. That's all." It was all she could think of to say. "Oh. Well. Maybe I could've send them invites."
"No. It's okay John. They wouldn't have been able to come anyway. They just have a lot to do back at home."
John believed she was lying about why she was feeling a bit down, but he chose not to make a big deal about it. He wanted her to be happy and have fun tonight.
He immediately saw the dance floor. He got up and offer her his hand. "May I have this dance Lexi?" he asked.
She looked up and smiled, clearly a little surprised, but excited. "I'd love to." she replied, letting him grab his hand.
He led her to the dance floor. A bunch of people backed away and gave them both some space. The room began to darken and a spotlight shone on them.
He held her by her shoulders, while she had her hands on his hips.
John couldn't help but how amazingly beautiful she looked. Especially in that blue dress. He always known she was cute, but right now as they danced he started seeing her a different way.
Apparently Lexi was feeling something similar. She couldn't believe she was dancing with John. Her heart pounding harder than it ever has before as she stared into his eyes. She was smiling the entire time.
The song suddenly ended, and the lights came back on.
Both of them went back to their table.
Lexi smiled brightly. "That... was fun." she replied. John couldn't help but agree. "I know. It felt amazing." "I know right?" she asked with a laugh.
Sometime later a dark haired woman came by. "Oh my god! You're John Cena!" she replied with a Russian accent. "I'm Emily. I'm such a huge fan of your's." she replied.
Lexi noticed Emily was wearing a red dress. She noticed a little bit of cleavage peaking out of the V neck. She could also tell she was a bit drunk.
"Nice to meet you Emily." he replied, holding out his hand for a handshake. But instead she fell forwards and wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. Clearly he didn't expect that to happen.
Lexi couldn't help but feel a bit jealous, but she kept her composer. She didn't want to start any trouble. Not in front of John and especially not in front of the charity people.
Emily finally released him, that's when she noticed Lexi sitting next to John.
Lexi gave her a small smile and said hi while giving her a little wave.
"Excuse me little girl. Do you mind moving along? Your daddy and I are trying to have a private chat here."
She looked and felt offended. She raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"
"That's Lexi Kaufman. She's not my daughter. She's my best friend." John explained.
"Lexi who?" Emily asked.
"Alexis Kaufman. I'm known as Alexa Bliss in the WWE. Does that name ring any bells?"
"Oh. Wait. You're supposed to be Alexa Bliss? I thought you were a evil queen. Not some child who plays dress up and looks like a bloody Barbie Doll wannabe." Emily spat out.
'Okay. Now I'm starting to get mad.' she thought to herself.
"Listen lady. We're just trying to have an relaxing, peaceful evening here. And I appreciate you treat her here with respect." John said calmly. Which brought a smile on her face.
"Oh hey! Wasn't she a fairly like lady a real long time ago on NXT?" "You know, I just wish you'd turn into a real fairy and fly away so I wouldn't have to look at your filthy, ugly kiddy face." she laughed.
She couldn't take it anymore. She got up and stood on her toes and got up into Emily's face. "Listen bitch. I can easily put you through a table. Just like I put Becky Lynch through a table one time. And this isn't Lexi Kaufman talking. This is Alexa Bliss talking." "So I suggest you turn around and walk away. Otherwise you're gonna end up on a hospital bed."
Emily turned to John. "I'd walk away if I were you." She looked back at her. Without saying anything she glared at Lexi before walking away.
Lexi started to calm down as she sat back down.
"Sorry John." she said, feeling a little guilty.
"Don't be. I think you handled that very well." John said. She smiled. "You really think so?" He took her hand in his. "Absolutely." he grinned.
Sometime later John was announced to the stage to do a speech. He invited her to come up with him.
They held hands as the walked to the stage.
"I just want to say. I'm happy to be here. Charities are an amazing way to get together. I'm proud to contribute and to help put smiles on people's faces." "Any questions?"
One man held up his hand. "Who's the pretty lady?"
"This is Lexi Kaufman. Or Alexa Bliss as she's known as."
"She's a close friend. Someone that's been there for me for a long time.
She smiled brightly and slipped an arm around his arm. "And you've helped me throughout my most difficult times." she said.
"Isn't wrestling for tall athletes?" One joked.
"Don't let her size fool you. She may be cute on the outside, but on the inside, she's a fighter." John replied.
Lexi smiled up at John, feeling flattered.
She took the mic from him. "They don't call me 'Five Feet of Fury' for nothing." she says, which got a reaction.
He went to talk for a few more minutes before he was done with his speech, receiving a standing ovation.
John looked on his watch and realized it was almost 10 pm. "Hey. We should probably get going. It's getting late."
She nodded in agreement.
They said their goodbyes and the both of them left the building together.
Next Day
John and Lexi just got back to the States.
"As much as it feels good to be back in the US, I do miss being in Europe." Lexi said.
He placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry. I promise we'll go back soon."
They walked out to the front of the airport and waited for a cab.
She looked up at him. "Hey John." "Yeah. What is it?" She took both of his hands.
"I just wanted to say thank you. These last few days were some of the best in my life." she said with a smile.
John couldn't help but smile back. "You're welcome. These last few days have been amazing for me too."
They stared at each other for a long time. Then they start to lean into each other. Their faces were mere inches away from each other when they suddenly heard some screams.
They turned around to see a car driving going fast on the sidewalk, heading towards them.
"Look out!" he yelled, pushing Lexi away before he was sent flying towards the windshield and ended up hitting the pavement as the car sped away.
Feeling a little dazed, Lexi looked over at John laying motionless on the street with a horrified look on her face.
"No... NO!" she started trembling.
She managed to stand up and run towards him. "JOHN!"
People started getting their phones out to call 911.
"John! Please don't die! Please don't die!" she pleaded as she started crying.
God I hope John doesn't die!
We'll find out what happens to John in the next chapter.
