It was near the end of June, and Kyouka felt pooped right now as she slowly tapped her pencil against the desk. "Finally. Tests are all over now…"
"Not even. We still have finals next week, you know." Sero reminded the girl. "And we need to pass the written and practical portion of the finals in order to go to that training camp."
"Shush. Don't remind me of that right now. Let me enjoy the fact that I got through it all and got a solid score at that."
Aizawa told them a little while back that they would all be spending summer vacation together for training at a camp in the woods. But the only ones who would be allowed to go were those who passed their final exams. And those who failed would have to go to summer school.
Kyouka found this partially exciting. It was exciting that she would be spending her summer at a camp with Izuku, but the not so exciting part was that others would be around.
It could've been perfect. She and Izuku camping under the starry night sky with a campfire in front of them and feeding each other smores. Maybe sleeping in a nice tent together, but it's a freezing night so they would have no choice but to snuggle up together for warmth.
This could happen if everyone else in the class somehow failed their exams, and it was only her and Izuku, but that's pretty much impossible.
Of course, it can become a possibility if she were to somehow sabotage everyone's scores and make it seem like they all failed, while only she and Izuku passed. But there's no way in hell she can pull something like that off. She's not clever enough and she doesn't have anyone on the inside to do it for her.
But of course, the main reason she's not doing it is that it would obviously be a horrible thing to do to the others. Yeah… that's totally it. Well, she wouldn't sabotage Momo's scores at least, knowing she would give her and Izuku the privacy they needed. Maybe she would leave Koda and Tokoyami's scores alone as well, seeing as they're the type to always keep to themselves.
"Easy for you to say. Ya got Midoriya as your study partner. Of course you'll be ranked 6th in the class." Sero grumbled, resting his chin on his desk.
Kyouka smirked and gave her pencil a spin in between her fingers. "Now don't get all butt hurt about it. You can join Yaoyorozu's study group. You might get a better score then." She gestured to Kaminari, Mina, Ojiro, and Toru, who were all currently begging for Momo's help to study for the finals.
Sero sighed, slightly lifting up his head. "If you like the idea so much, why don't you do it instead?"
"Hey, I totally would, but Izuku and I have been studying together since our first year of middle school, and it's a tradition I don't plan on breaking. A great study partner and friend. Couldn't ask for anything better."
"Oh yeah? Mr. Rank 4 is the best there is to offer?" Sero gave a cocky smirk. "Hey, maybe you should ask Mr. Rank 3 for hel-"
Sero found himself face to face with two earphone jacks and Kyouka having a shadow cast over her eyes.
"You really wanna finish that sentence?" The girl asked, her tone completely cold and deadly before seeing the boy shake his head. "Good. Now go ask Yaoyorozu about help with studying before I repeat that stupid comment in my head."
Sero quickly made his way to Momo, grumbling about Kyouka's bad attitude as Izuku came back from having a talk with Todoroki about the midterms. "Uh, what's Sero in such a rush for?"
Kyouka smiled at her hero as she twirled around her earphone jack. "Oh, he just wants to RSVP for Yaoyorozu's special study session."
"Special study session?"
"Yeah, Ashido, Kaminari, Hagakaure, Ojiro, and I guess now Sero are going to Yaoyorozu's place to study with her to prep for the finals."
"Huh, interesting... You know, I think you should join them, Kyouka."
Kyouka promptly stood up and stared straight at Izuku, who took a step back from the sudden action.
"U-Uh, what is it, Kyouka?"
Kyouka put her hands on Izuku's cheeks and started pulling at his cheeks. "Take off that mask, you imposter."
"What are you talking about?" The assumed imposter asked, his cheeks still being pulled at.
"Izuku and I have been studying together for every test for 3 years now. You can't be him if you want me to study with someone else." The girl had his cheeks stretched out now like they were taffy and kept them in place.
Izuku chuckled, thinking that his best friend was joking around. "I'm serious. Don't get me wrong, I love studying with you, but I genuinely believe that studying with Yaoyorozu will help you get a far better grade than if you studied with me. Heck, you would probably rank 5th or maybe even pass my rank and leave me in the dust. I want you to have the best grade possible, Kyouka."
Kyouka's eyes went wide, now realizing this is probably the real Izuku. The real Izuku was suggesting for the two of them to study separately for a test.
'He's not sick of studying with me, is he? This whole wanting me to have a grade can't be just some excuse to get rid of me, right? Maybe he wants to study all on his own and I've been holding him back this entire time. Maybe he would've ranked 1st if I didn't study with him. Should I accept his offer and go with Yaoyorozu?' Suddenly, she internally slapped herself hard in the face. 'Idiot! He wouldn't do that. He'd have to be a real imposter to even consider anyone to be a burden to himself. But he still wants me to go to Yaoyorozu's place to study. I gotta do something about that… I could just straight up reject the suggestion, but that would make it look like I don't care about my grade. Okay, I really don't care about my grade all that much. As long as I get to pass and get to go camping with him then I'm satisfied enough. But he has to think I care a little bit and not that I mainly study with him because, duh, it's him. Hmm, wait, I think I know a way where we can both get what we want.'
"I-I got a counteroffer." She raised a finger, letting go of his cheeks and leaving them a bright red. "How about you come with me?"
This was the perfect solution for both of them. Izuku could be happy with her having a chance at a better grade and she'll be with him.
"Are you sure?" Izuku asked, grabbing two chunks of ice Todoroki tossed to him and placing them both on his cheeks. "No offense to Yaoyorozu, but I don't think I really need it all that much. And I wouldn't want to take time away from everyone else who needs it."
Kyouka bit the tip of her earphone jack, thinking of another way to counter his counterpoint. "Then… maybe you could be a co-tutor?"
"Co-tutor?"
"Mhmm. You and Yaoyorozu both have the top 5 grades of the class, and the two of you can split tutoring duties, making it way more efficient. And before you say something dumb like you aren't a good tutor, I'm solid proof that you are."
"It's a good idea, but could Iida not be in my place as a co-tutor? He was ranked 2nd after all. And what about you? You're really smart and good friends with Yaoyorozu. You'd be a great."
"Look, we all know Iida's very smart, but I don't think that he would be the greatest tutor. I feel like he would throw all the advanced stuff at you from the get-go, not really slow down for anyone who needs it, and you'd hardly be able to understand what he's trying to teach more than half of the time. Ashido and Kaminari would most likely be more brain dead than they already are within the first minute of studying with him. Also, I'm not the tutoring type at all. I don't have the patience to deal with trying to make other people learn crap." Kyouka explained before narrowing her eyes at her hero. "You know, it's starting to seem like you're trying to get yourself out of this whole thing… Do you want to get rid of me that badly or is it that you want to avoid Yaoyorozu? Ah, I get it. You hate that Sero's going too. I thought there was some tension between the two of you."
"N-No, that's not it at all! You and Yaoyorozu are good friends, and I would gladly be with either of you anytime. And what about Sero and I? I don't think we have an ounce of tension between us… Right?" Izuku rubbed the back of his neck. "Look, I just…don't know if I'm the best choice for this. And…I haven't been with such a large group outside of school in a long time. Okay, I know it's not really that large, but you know that you're the only person I've ever hung out with outside of school these past 3 years. And before that…well, I already explained it all to you before. I know I'm overthinking it, and it really shouldn't be a big deal, but I'm not so sure if I'm exactly ready to be hanging out with a group of friends even if it's just for studying…"
Kyouka's eyes went soft as she looked at Izuku, completely understanding where he's coming from.
Before, the only group he ever hung out with was Bakugo's, and she knows full well how that went for him.
It wouldn't surprise her if he was a little scared to be with another group. Maybe he's worried this one will turn out horribly like the last one.
But she knows that it's probably for the best to try to break Izuku out of this shell. Even if she barely makes any progress.
Kyouka then smiled and placed her hand on his arm. "Hey, you don't have to worry about anything. I'll be there with you. And I haven't hung out with a group of friends either in these 3 years, so you won't be alone there."
Izuku chuckled, feeling calmer from her touch. "Okay, but you've had plenty of opportunities to be in other groups."
That's true. In her first year of middle school, plenty of girls asked Kyouka if she wanted to hang out with them during lunch or after school, but Kyouka rejected those offers each and every time without even thinking about it.
They finally gave up by her second year, realizing that she'll never budge. She was then ignored by basically everyone in school.
Kyouka became known as the school loner not long after the attempts on her friendship came to a stop. But she really couldn't have cared less. The only person's attention and opinion she cared for was Izuku's anyways.
"Those don't count. They were probably crappy groups anyways. Who am I kidding, they definitely were. So, I wouldn't call those opportunities. Would you call it an opportunity to be offered to clean toilets?"
"Technically, it would be to people in need of a job..."
"Rhetorical." Kyouka patted his arm. "But my point still stands. If your whole issue is being inexperienced with hanging out with others, then I'll be in the same boat. And if there's any other issue you have, I'll still be there to support you however I can. But don't think I'm trying to force you here. I just want you to know that doing this is completely safe and completely fine. You know you can trust me, Izuku."
"You don't need to remind me. There's no one I trust more." Izuku sighed before smiling. "Fine, I'll come to co-tutor, but only if Yaoyorozu gives her approval. The last thing I want to do is barge in uninvited."
"Awesome, I'll ask her myself. Get ready cause you'll be having to deal with Kaminari and Ashido as a duo." Kyouka stated before quickly going over to Momo, not waiting for Izuku to change his mind.
The boy sweatdropped, wondering if he may have made a mistake by agreeing to this. He wishes he could say that he would leave those two to Momo while he handles the others, but he knew himself better than that and expected himself to fully take those two on if needed. Sometimes he can get pretty annoyed at his nature to make things easier for others. But he can't deny that he feels good doing it.
But nonetheless, he felt hopeful about being with a group again even though it's just studying. Who knows, maybe it'll open him up to doing this more often but in more casual and fun scenarios other than studying.
He then took a glance at Bakugo who was scolding Kirishima about his midterm scores and sighed. He couldn't help but remember the times when he and Bakugo played together as kids, both smiling and having fun. He had to admit that there were times he wished he could go back to those days when the two of them were inseparable. But these days, he finds himself missing those times less and less with Kyouka around. Sure, he and Bakugo were good friends once, but that was so many years ago.
Izuku shook his head before he could think about the past any more than he had to. The best thing for him to do is to move past everything and move forward with Kyouka and his new friends here. If he keeps thinking about his past friendship with Bakugo, he'll never get anywhere.
The boy then smiled and went over to join Kyouka in talking to Momo about him co-tutoring, which the taller girl easily agreed to. If anything, him being there to co-tutor made her even more excited for this study session.
Kaminari wrapped his arm around Izuku's neck and pulled him close, telling the other boy that he'll be needing extra help from him while Ojiro sighed.
Izuku laughed at his comment and agreed to do his best to help Kaminari and anyone else who needs it.
He was already starting to find himself enjoying being around these guys so yeah, it seems like he'll have no problem hanging out with them this weekend.
Flashback
Kyouka and Izuku were at their usual spot for training at the beach, doing one of Izuku's light workouts. But Kyouka has been finding herself being able to catch up with him more recently. This past month, she's been pushing herself harder than before and complains less too about the difficulty of their training.
Looks like her internship with Crust, doing daily exercises, and running around Shibuya helped her stamina a fair amount. She has another motivation for her recent improvements too, but it's a motivation she doesn't want to think about right now.
Kyouka was doing some sit-ups, her feet being held down by Izuku. Her abs and really most of the muscles in her body were burning like crazy, but she wanted to finish her set before she and Izuku switched positions. Usually, she would stop short when doing around half of her set of sit-ups due to being too exhausted from previous exercises. Completing her set today would be a personal record for her.
"Give-Give me some motivation to finish this s-set…"
"Um, I'll buy you a sandwich from the convenience store if you do."
"…I'll take it." She blurted out, forcing herself to continue her workout.
"You know, I'm glad you've been keeping up with me more recently. Working out is so much more fun when you're doing it with someone else. But I hope you aren't pushing yourself all that much."
"Don't…" Kyouka trailed off, doing another sit-up and laying back down, panting. "Sweat it… You know me. I like throwing in the towel when these workouts start killing me… I don't… feel like I'm completely being murdered yet so I'm going to earn that sandwich..."
'If he ever offered to take me out on a date or kiss me on the cheek, I would make damned sure that I finished this set, maybe even double it. But him treating me to a sandwich works too I guess.'
Kyouka continued doing more sit-ups, soon only having to do one more. "Time… for the final stretch… Fuck me, I'm starting to feel like I'm being murdered right about now…"
Izuku watched her with anticipation, seeing his best friend about to accomplish her personal goal. He got a little distracted for a second by a seagull flying past him, but he got even more distracted by the figure he saw standing at the stairs. "Huh?"
Unfortunately, he got too distracted and lost grip on Kyouka's feet, causing her to fall flat on her back just as he tried to do her final sit-up.
Kyouka groaned as her legs were now sprawled out and looked up at Izuku, slightly frowning. "Wh-What the heck, Izuku…? I was just about to finish…"
The boy looked down and widened his eyes, seeing how he messed up as he clasped his hands. "S-Sorry about that! I just got distracted!"
"What can distract you right now?" Kyouka asked, slowly sitting up and letting out a deep breath, feeling exhausted and a little disappointed that she couldn't finish her set.
"Hey kids. Sorry if I'm intruding." A familiar voice called out to them.
All Might in his scrawny form approached the two teens, waving with a smile on his face as Izuku waved back. "No, not at all. But what are you doing here, All Might?"
"Oh, am I not allowed to be at the training site I personally introduced you to?" All Might asked with a smirk, crossing his arms. "Awfully arrogant for you to think you own this place, Young Midoriya."
"Wh-Whoa, I'm not trying to say that at all. I just didn't expect to see you here so suddenly. You haven't been here since I ate your hair to gain your power. I just thought that you wouldn't come here again since my training is completed, you know." Izuku explained defensively before All Might planted his hand on the boy's head, tussling his hair.
"I'm just messing with you. But who said your training was completed?" The number one hero's smirk widened. "I don't remember saying that. I know I'm getting a bit older these days, but I'm 100% sure my memory still checks out."
"Huh?" Kyouka and Izuku stared at the hero, not exactly understanding what he meant.
But the gears slowly started to turn in Kyouka's head, her eyes slowly widening. 'Oh no… Don't tell me he means what I think he means…'
All Might scanned the area real quick to make sure it was empty before transforming into his muscle form and giving a thumbs up. "Your training is far from over, Young Midoriya! If you thought you were stuck at a dead end with not having Gran Torino to help you train anymore, then have no fear because I am here!"
Izuku's eyes brightened up as he balled up his fists in excitement. "Wait, do you mean you're going to keep training with me, All Might?!"
"Indeed, I am!" All Might shouted before reverting back into his scrawny form and spitting out blood, coughing. "Crap, I seriously gotta stop using that form for dramatic effect."
"Hold on a minute, aren't you supposed to be busy with all your work at U.A and your work as a hero? You haven't had time to help Izuku train since he got his quirk so why start now?" Kyouka asked with a hint of venom in her voice, standing up and taking a step toward the hero.
"I admit that I definitely won't be able to help Young Midoriya train as often as I would like, but I can promise to dedicate any free time I have to his training as long as I have the energy to do so." The hero said as he wiped all the blood off of his face before starting to whisper for only Kyouka to hear what he'll say next. "And as to why am I starting now…? I guess you can say I just want to help my successor be the best hero he can be. I would've been available earlier in the month, but I wanted to get as much done as possible in my personal and work life so I can put more time into Young Midoriya for the future."
Kyouka didn't have a response to that and simply turned away before Izuku stepped forward. "I mean, if you're really willing to help me, All Might, I'd be crazy to say no to you. But first I want to tell you everything I've learned these past few months, like describe how I'm trying to improve Full Cowling, and how I'm trying to incorporate kicks into my fighting style. I think it's important for you to know all of these things… W-Well, if you're okay with listening to all of that…"
All Might sweatdropped and lightly chuckled. "Oh boy, I knew I should've brought a notepad with me before coming over to you. Maybe this time, slow down your muttering so I can properly take it in. I would hate to miss anything because of my ears and brain not being able to catch up."
Kyouka stayed silent during this exchange between the two One For All holders, keeping her eyes laser-focused on All Might and certainly not in a good way.
He was not someone she wanted to see right now or anytime soon for that matter. The two of them hadn't talked all month nor even made eye contact for that matter. Today was the first time the two of them had any sort of interaction since the day she gave All Might a talking to.
The hero did try to get her attention many times this month, using both conventional and unconventional methods. At first, he would call and text her, but she ended up muting him on her phone.
And a week ago during hero training when Toru was out sick, he came up with this special training exercise that was just a three-legged race. He made up the teams of two himself and left Kyouka for last so she would have no choice but to team up with him. Admittedly, he called himself a genius for coming up with such a plan, but the young girl turned the tides on him by forcing Kaminari to swap partners with her so she ended up being partnered with Izuku and All Might was partnered with Kaminari.
That wouldn't have been so bad if All Might hadn't allowed the use of quirks during the race. Halfway through the race, he and Kaminari started slipping on some ice made by Todoroki, All Might accidentally stepping on one of Mineta's sticky balls with a large piece of concrete now stuck to his foot, and finally tripping from Kyouka using her earphone jack to pull on Kaminari's leg.
It only got worse with Kaminari accidentally using his quirk as soon as his face hit the ground, electrocuting the number one hero. It didn't make things easier that the boy's brain got fried from using his quirk. In the end, they both got last place with Kaminari apologizing to death, but All Might forgave the boy.
But at least Kyouka had a great day. She and Izuku got first place due to Bakugo accidentally hitting his partner, Mina, in the face a few times with his explosions, making them fall a lot of times, and Todoroki's ice accidentally slipping up Aoyama a bunch. Maybe it wasn't a good idea for Aoyama to be on Todoroki's right side. She also got to see All Might get karmic justice struck upon him for trying to force a talk with her.
Speaking of All Might, he was all up in her face now, making the young girl lean her head back. 'Why…?'
"Young Jirou, I hope you don't mind if I borrow Young Midoriya from you for just a little while. I want to make sure I absorb every single piece of information he gives me and try to help however I can." All Might requested with a smile.
The girl didn't even get to respond as All Might turned to Izuku and told the boy to start explaining away, which he did.
'Look at him. He's acting like the talk between him and I never happened. Does he really think I'll be all happy and forgiving so soon? Yeah right…' Kyouka glared in All Might's direction, Izuku's explanation sounding muffled to her ears from how focused she was on the hero's presence.
Now, seeing All Might reminds Kyouka of the heavy burden on her hero's shoulders. How he has to fight this monstrous villain that almost killed the number one hero and is the reason he'd become weaker.
She just wants to forget all about that and enjoy her time with Izuku. They should be like every other person at U.A, and only have to worry about their grades and training right now. Not worry about some ancient villain who's destined to fight the boy she loves.
It wasn't right.
Every few nights, she would dream of Izuku facing off against this large, intimidating dark figure, and being either beaten down to a bloody pulp, having his body disintegrated, having a giant hole in the middle of his chest, crushed under piles of rubble with only his arm sticking out, and his keychain laying in a pit of fire before burning up.
Every single one of these nightmares woke Kyouka up in a sweaty mess, tears rolling down her cheeks. She wasn't waking up screaming as she did with her nightmare after the USJ, but all that she accomplished was avoiding her parents' attention in the middle of the night.
That ominous question the old man asked her during her internship rang through her head more often after learning about All For One.
What would she do to protect the one she loves? And how far would she go to achieve that?
That question seemed more relevant than ever recently, learning that Izuku is fated to fight this villain.
Sure, she's training harder than usual these days to get stronger for him, but it doesn't mean she has to think about the reason why. Because maybe deep down she believes that maybe she'll never be strong enough to help him against this foe.
If push comes to shove, what will she do to protect Izuku?
If offered a guarantee for his safety if she betrayed her friends, would she take that offer?
Would she sacrifice anyone for his life?
Would she let the entire world burn if it meant that she and Izuku could be together in peace?
A small headache soon formed as she placed her hand on her head. 'Fuck, I'm already feeling the effects of being stressed the hell out. At least this headache ain't that bad so it's not like I'd have to report it to anybody…'
All Might wiped his brow and let out a booming laugh, breaking Kyouka out of her thoughts. "Phew, I think I'm gonna need a repeat of that information the next time we meet and when I have my notepad, but I got a good chunk of it stored in my good old noggin."
"Are you sure you don't need me to repeat that?" Izuku asked, holding his notebook.
All Might placed his hands on his hips and shook his head. "No, I think I'm alright there. Honestly, that might just jumble up everything more. So unfortunately, I won't be the greatest of help to you since I've never had any experience with One For All being hard to control as you know, but dammit I'll do what I can. However, I do have some experience in using small percentages of my power, so let's start with that. You can use up to 13% in short bursts without doing any major damage to your body, right?"
"Uh-huh."
"In that case, try something with a little range to it. Punch the air at 13%!" The hero ordered, pointing at a nearby crappy-looking sandcastle.
"Okay, I'll try that…" Green electricity formed around Izuku's body before he pulled back his arm.
'One For All, Full Cowling… 13%!'
The boy then threw a punch towards the sand castle, firing off a fairly strong gust of wind towards it and destroying it. It kicked up a lot of nearby sand, creating a pathway while All Might and Kyouka shielded their eyes from the sand.
Izuku let out a small grunt in pain as he grabbed his arm, but he smiled anyway. "It's just like when I was flicking my fingers at 100%..."
All Might snapped his fingers. "Precisely. You don't see me using 100% all of the time. The city would be a mess if I did."
Izuku cupped his chin as a light bulb went off above his head. "I see. So compressing all of that power into single long ranged attacks, using one limb instead of putting strain onto my entire body to move about. Whoa, it looks like I have another move to my arsenal along with punches and kicks. Now I have to decide if I want to focus on either one first or focus on both at the same time, balancing them out. But what if I come across a scenario where I'll need a more powerful kick if my arms aren't available or if I'll need a more powerful ranged attack if the target is out of reach? Is there a right decision here? Is there a wrong one?" He frustratedly ruffled his hair. "Argh, I'm going to be thinking about this all night now…"
All Might spat out blood as he bonked the boy's head in a chopping motion. "Don't overthink it! Just do what comes naturally to you. I have faith you'll make the right choice."
Kyouka continued to watch these two talk it out before Izuku went on another mumbling spree.
Don't get her wrong, she's happy that Izuku's getting help for One For All from someone who's an expert at it, but that doesn't mean she has to be happy about the trainer himself. But she's not so petty that she'll stop training at the beach with Izuku because All Might's there. She knows just how important training is for both of them and she won't let her personal feelings get in the way of that.
If anything, she'll just ignore him while she trains and does her own thing. It should be easy.
Except it didn't help that All Might dropped a piece of advice for her to try honing her earphone jacks and to try pulling heavy objects with them. She would never admit to him that she would try out that type of training when he's not around.
Kyouka slowly ate her food, remembering that encounter from yesterday. She got reminded of it after All Might had just passed by them in the hallway, greeting the entire class as they were heading to lunch along with everyone at the table talking about training for the practical exam just now.
It was not a good combo for her mind.
A small piece of chicken fell out of her spoon and onto the tray, but instead of picking it up like a normal person would, she forcefully stabbed into it, splitting the piece of chicken and piercing right through the tray, the tip of the spoon even being jammed into the table as well.
Everyone at the table other than Todoroki and Tsuyu reacted to this action, Izuku choking on some of his food, Iida looking absolutely mortified, Ochako looking impressed and complimenting this show of strength with a full mouth, and Momo looking around the cafeteria to see if there was a girl staring lovingly at Izuku that Kyouka noticed.
"Is it normal for Jirou to act up at lunch?" Todoroki asked before slurping some of his soba.
"Ochako, you'll end up choking on your food if you keep talking with your mouth full, you know. Please be careful." Tsuyu advised her friend.
Momo continued to scan the area. 'Now what girl could have enacted Jirou's wrath this time?'
"Jirou, do be careful when using your spoon to get your food. You're going to get in serious trouble for this one day." Iida scolded.
While everyone else had their attention on Kyouka, Izuku pounded his chest to try to get his food down. A large hand then gave his back a good smack, forcing Izuku's food to go down.
The boy sighed in relief before smiling and turning around to smile at the one who helped him out. "Thanks, I thought I was going to die there… Oh, it's you. Um… Itsuka Kendo, right? From 1-B."
"You should have let him choke a bit longer, Kendo. It could've shown a high and mighty student from 1-A that a measly piece of food could've taken him out." Monoma stated as he strutted his way over to the lunch table.
"Why do you hate me?" Izuku asked, but his question was left ignored.
"That even after all the villains they encounter, they're still nothing but children who can be taken out so easily!" Monoma cackled out, raising a fist. "Then they'll know how superior our class is! We never run into the kind of trouble they do, and we would never fall victim to such a-Bleh!"
His neck was chopped by Kendo, his body collapsing and being slightly lifted up by the girl grabbing onto the collar of his shirt.
Everyone in the cafeteria looked at him with a deadpanned face. 'Why is he like this?'
Kendo smiled at Izuku and nodded to his last question, pretending like the last few moments with Monoma never happened. "Yup, I'm Kendo. And of course everyone knows you, Izuku Midoriya, so don't feel any need to introduce yourself. I'm surprised you know my name though."
"Oh, I just caught it during the Sports Festival and Yaoyorozu did mention you a few times when we all talked about our internships."
Kendo rolled her eyes. "Ugh, don't remind me of that internship. We spent 99% of it posing for beauty product commercials. We only got to do some actual hero work for one day. And the patrol ended as soon as the sun went down. I probably would've quit on the spot if Yaoyorozu wasn't there with me."
"I don't think it was all that bad, Kendo. We gained some real world experience from it." Momo replied with an overly optimistic smile as if she was trying to convince herself of what she just said.
"You're not wrong that we gained real world experience. Just the crappy and commercial part of it though… Could've been worse though. I heard Mt. Lady's internship consisted of being a housekeeper. Now that would've been demeaning."
"It wasn't that bad! I was kind of into it!" A voice cried out from across the cafeteria.
"Don't know what that was, but hopefully next time you'll have a better experience."
"You too. I heard about what happened with the Hero Killer. Must've been scary for you three."
Izuku and Iida gave a simple nod before Todoroki responded in such a dry tone. "We were terrified. Practically wetting ourselves. Until the great and mighty Endeavor showed up."
"I wouldn't go that far…" Iida looked down, embarrassed by Todoroki's response.
Izuku sweatdropped, nodding with his face red. "Yeah... Just a normal amount of fear anyone would feel in that situation."
"But you know, there's a reason I came over other than patting your back. You didn't hear it from me, but the practical exam for the final will be combat against robots. You know, like the entrance exam. I got this little tidbit from a friend who's a third year."
"Whoa, and you're just telling us?" Izuku asked, already feeling grateful for her kindness.
"Eh, think of this as a favor between Class Presidents." Kendo said with a wink directed towards Izuku. "Just don't tell anyone I told you guys, okay?"
"Wow, you two seem to be hitting it off so well, and after just meeting too." Kyouka said in a sweet tone with a sweet smile as she forcefully pulled her spoon out of the table, a few splinters flying out of the table, one of them flying right through Todoroki's hair, which didn't faze the boy. On the other hand, Momo looked pretty concerned for her fellow intern. "Kendo, was it? I want to get to know you better too…"
Kendo tilted her head at this strange behavior from this girl before giving a small smile. "Sure, I don't mind. In fact, I would love the chance to get to know all of you 1-A guys better."
"I hope you don't have to use the restroom in the middle of either of the tests, Jirou." Monoma jabbed with a light cackle as he slowly lifted his head.
"Monoma, I thought I told you to stop saying that." Kendo scolded, bashing his head against the edge of the table, rattling it. "It's because of you that some of our classmates legitimately believe that dumb and crude rumor. Heck, I had to convince Awase to avoid welding a toilet in 1-A cause he was legitimately concerned for her. And Shishida even offered to bring one. To be frank, Shoda and I are sick of dealing with the fallout of your stupid mouth."
Kyouka's eyes shot towards him, completely forgetting about Kendo and Izuku's interaction. "You're the one who started to spread that rumor…?"
Monoma let out a weak groan as he lifted up a finger to try to say something, but that was more than enough for Kyouka.
"Kendo, do you mind if I handle him for a little while?"
Kendo looked at the unconscious boy in her hand before looking back at Kyouka. "You sure? Don't get me wrong, I don't want him myself, but can you handle him?"
Kyouka gave a single nod as she held her hand out. "I can manage."
Kendo handed Monoma over as if he was a bag of groceries. "Aright. But try to make sure he's at 1-B when class starts up again. Keep him at least semi-conscious too. He's helping me with Tsunotori's studying after class since he can speak perfect English."
"Got it. On time and semi-conscious. I can do that." Kyouka stated before dragging Monoma away as everyone watched.
"Is… he going to be okay? Is this okay?" Iida asked, wondering if he should stop Kyouka before she exits the cafeteria.
"Should be fine." Ochako replied, returning her attention to her lunch.
Izuku watched Kyouka leave for a minute before returning his attention to his lunch as well. "I doubt it'll be anything too cruel. But just in case, we should pray for his survival."
Kendo decided to take the vacant seat left behind by Kyouka, but felt a chill run across her entire body as if she summoned a dark presence. Just in case, she scooted away from Izuku a tiny bit and the presence went away. 'Weird…'
Everyone continued on with their lunch while off in a vacant room in the school, screaming could be heard as a young boy swore that there would be one girl in Class 1-A that he would never antagonize again for as long as he lives. And so, the rumors of the infamous overactive bladder in U.A came to an end.
What did this girl do to strike such ungodly fear into him?
Well… some things are better left unknown to the world.
A/N
Chapter 52 is done! Man, I gotta stop getting addicted to stuff. A few certain video games and a certain anime really took over my summer. But I regret nothing! Okay, maybe some regrets…
This was a pretty fun chapter to write when I actually committed to writing it. I hope I didn't push too hard with the All Might hate from Kyouka.
Please keep in mind that I do love All Might as a character and anytime I bring him misfortune, it's out of fun. I might be giving him more misfortune, but Izuku and Kyouka will have their fair share of fun misfortune in the future.
But for now, I'm going to have "fun" deciding how I'm going to handle the final exams. God, I wish I could skip this arc, but it's necessary for certain character moments I want to have. Send help.
Now onto those reviews!
curlyboy01: I missed you too buddy ol pal
PonchoFirewalker01: You'll just have to wait and find out what he did in 5-10 years with my shit updating schedule! Ha ha!
bk201fan: Well… I can promise you one thing. Something bad is gonna happen fairly soon. But when is soon?
Ability King KK: There could be strain in the future, but for different reasons entirely I have in mind.
drake wind: Oh, that. Well, no not her husband at all. It's her son's name if you didn't catch that
XxCaseyXx: They dance until their feet fall off!
Shisarakage: Don't think what he gave her won't be a problem. Cause it might
Crimson of the Mandolorians: Appreciate the binging
benedictloe: Can't say I've heard of it but makes me think it's a creepy stalker girl
Ghost Angel14: Wow, I'm glad I made you change your perspective on a character and even cooler that it's Jirou. And I have to hard agree with your criticism. It's honestly a slog to even write through the canon parts, but I plan to have a turning point arrive within the next few arcs where things will really start to differentiate. And I hope you continue to enjoy this story!
So that's all for the reviews everybody!
That's the end of this chapter! Feel free to leave a review
