John was anxious to get to the hospital. After hearing that Lexi was found his heart leaped out of his chest.
After taking a cab he wheeled himself inside the hospital and headed over to the front desk.
"Hello sir. Is Lexi Kaufman here?" he asked.
The receptionist named Mike looked up at John. "And you are?"
"I'm John Cena."
"You her friend?" Mike asked. "Yes. I'm a close friend." John replied.
"She's been talking about you a lot. I'll take you to see her if you want."
John nodded. "Yes please."
He followed Mike over to Lexi's room.
"Ma'am, you have a visitor."
She looked up and saw John. She smiled, her eyes tearing up a little. He smiled back.
"I'll leave you two alone." Mike replied before shutting the door.
He wheeled over next to bed.
They immediately embraced each other.
"You have no idea how happy I am to see you again." she says softly in his ear.
"Me too."
She clings onto him, not wanting to let go, not that John's complaining, but at one point she felt a sharp pain on her side, causing her to let out a soft yelp. She pulled away.
"Easy there." John ordered. "You okay?"
"Sorry. Doctors told me I have a few cracked ribs." She mumbled, as her jaw hurts too.
"Any other injuries I should know about?" John asked.
"Only a separated shoulder and broken ankle. And a broken jaw and a few missing teeth. But other than that I'm ok." she informed jokingly.
She then told John everything that had happened, who the guy was that kidnapped her, and what he did to her back when she was at Ohio State.
Police said he disappeared some time after she escaped.
"So basically he's been after you for revenge." She nodded.
"I thought I'd never see him again after he got sent to prison."
John looked down, feeling sad. Apparently she noticed.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm sorry." "What are you sorry for?" she asked. "For not protecting you." he struggled to get out, his voice cracking.
She struggled not to cry. "No John. You have nothing to be sorry for. If anything, I'm the one that should be sorry. It's my fault that you got run over and got put in a wheelchair." she sobbed.
After calming down a bit before he took her hand. "You're okay. That's all I care about." he said.
He smiled when he saw that cute smile on her face.
"John." "Yeah?"
"I'm in love with you." she replied seriously.
He was taken aback at what she just said.
"I don't expect you to feel the same way. It's okay. Especially since you still love Nicole. I just wanted to tell you."
John let out a grin. "I already know. I saw your video."
"I know. But I wanted you to hear it from me, face to face."
After a few moments of silence John looked up at her. "Lexi."
"Yes John?" she wondered.
"I'm in love with you too." he said.
Now it was her turn to be surprised. "What did you just say?" she asked, not sure if she heard him correctly. "I said I'm in love with you too."
More tears sliding down her cheeks. "You... You're serious?" She said, her voice a little shaky.
He smiled and nodded.
She covered her mouth with her hand, smiling.
"But what about Nicole?" she asked.
John's smile disappeared. "Yeah. We officially broke up."
She started feeling guilty again.
"I'm sor-" she started to say but he took her hand.
"No. Don't apologize. It wasn't your fault." he said, trying his best not to get emotional. "Maybe we just weren't right for each other. We probably would've broken up eventually.
"I might've have feelings for you for the past few years. Before all of this crazy stuff happened."
"I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to ruin our friendship. And I was with Nicole."
"But now that I'm single, and we confessed our feeling for each other. I just have one question."
He took her hand and kissed it, and held it in his.
"Alexis Kaufman. Be my girlfriend?" he asked.
She smiled again. "Yes John. It would be my pleasure to be your girlfriend."
He leaned forward and gave her a kiss on the lips. It wasn't long before John slipped his tongue into her mouth, which made the kiss better.
As they kissed she started feeling a warm feeling all over her body. It was the best feeling she's ever had. That was until it got to her ribs, and she gasped in pain.
John immediately pulled away. "Sorry. Your ribs hurting you?"
She nodded.
"So what now?" she wondered.
"We should wait until your injuries are completely healed before we have our first date as a couple." John said.
"I'd love that." She replied.
They kissed again before he took her hand in his.
"I promise you if that bastard ever lays a hand on you again, I'll beat the hell out of him."
She felt her heart skip a bit.
"How long until you can leave?" he asked.
"Just a few more days. They just want to do more check ups on me just to be safe."
She then gave him her puppy eye look. "Please stay the night?"
He smiled. "Of course I'll stay with you. I'll always be with you no matter what."
She smiled again and let out her pinky. "Pinky promise?"
He wrapped his pinky around hers. "Forever pinky promise."
