Chapter 109: Hokage's Duty
Normal P.O.V.
"Now Kakashi, I know this is a lot to take in, but do you have any questions so far?" Tsunade said as she leaned against the office's desk.
Kakashi, the silver wolf shook his head as he watched Naruto and several of his shadow clones move boxes in and out of the office. "No, but I thank you for being through in your training, Lady Tsunade."
"Hn. That's one way to put it." One of the clones grumped under its breath before Tsunade smacked the back of its head.
"Show respect, twerp. I may not be Hokage much longer, but I am still your elder." She scolded.
"Explain to me again how helping move your stuff out of the office, and Kakashi-sensei's stuff in is considered a part of my training?" The real Naruto asked with one hand on his hip while the other held a box to his side.
"The same way you'll have to explain to Sasuke why you're coming home with a busted lip and a knot the size of my fist if you don't keep moving." She growled, causing Shikamaru and Kakashi to smirk when they heard a collective "eep" sound.
Once she was satisfied that Naruto would no longer bother her, Tsunade sighed as she looked around the semi-empty room with a smile.
"Is something wrong, Lady Tsunade?" Shikamaru asked.
"It seems surreal, don't you agree?"
"You mean about you being one the third Hokage to retire from the position?" Kakashi guessed.
"Yeah. It's funny. It feels as if just yesterday Jiraiya and a young Naruto brought me back here to take over for my sensei. If you were to tell teenage me that I would become the first Lady Hokage, I probably would have called you crazy and punched you into a nearby wall."
"That's a bit extreme." Shikamaru nervously laughed.
"Yeah, I guess it is." She chuckled. "But it was true. Anyone who knew me knew that Hokage was never my dream. It was my little brother and my former mate's. They should have been the ones to hold the title, not me. However, with everything that happened over the past four years or so, I found pride in knowing that I could continue their legacy and allow them to live their dream through me. I think that's what kept me going all these years. Well, that, Jiraiya, and Naruto I guess."
"If I may be so bold. I think you did a fine job, Lady Fifth." Kakashi smiled.
"I agree. And, if you ask the others, I will also say that you grew out of some of your old bad habits too." Shikamaru added.
"Hn. I guess you're right about that too. And now with Kakashi taking over for me, I can help Sakura run the hospital, and continue my research and expansion on medical ninjutsu."
"Milady, what about Orochimaru? Do you plan on leaving him within the prison to die? Or will you leave it for me to decide his punishment at his trial?"
"Oh, I almost forgot about that snake. Don't worry about him. I will handle him before officially retiring. Call it my last act as the Fifth Hokage."
"What do you plan on doing with him?" Shikamaru asked.
"I haven't decided. On the one hand, he seems to have turned over a new leaf. If he wanted to escape from prison, nothing would have stopped him. He also gave aid during the war. However, a few good deeds don't undo the crimes he committed. I have some time to council with the other Hokages before we come to a decision. In the meantime, we should focus on the other minor loose ends that need tying up."

Another hour or so passed until Naruto, Shikamaru, and Tsunade left the Hokage Tower. Thanks to the blond fox and his clones, Kakashi had a few of his personal items inside of the office with no traces of Tsunade's items remaining. The silver fox placed his hands on his hips as he looked around the room. The walls contained historic scrolls, pictures of every Hokage who took office, legendary shinobis, and even the Three Sannin minus Orochimaru.
Suddenly, his eyes landed on an empty space next to Tsunade's Hokage portrait. Subconsciously, Kakashi walked toward the spot and placed his hand on the wall. The emptied space is reserved for when he takes his picture in his hat and robes. Truly an honor bestowed upon him.
"I wonder if this is how Minato-sensei and the other Hokages felt when they took office?"
The sudden sound of someone knocking on the door caused his ears to perk up. Kakashi quickly turned around, sniffed the air, and practically ran to the door. His tail wagged as Iruka stood on the other side with a plant in his hand.
"That was quick. Couldn't wait to see me?" Iruka chuckled.
"I can never get enough." The wolf smiled as he allowed his mate to pass under the threshold before he shut the door.
"Wow. This place looks so different. I can't believe this is it."
"I know. I said the same thing too. This office will be mind before I know it. So, what brings you here, my little dolphin? Not that you need a reason to visit your mate at work."
"Well, it was getting late, so I came to check on you. Plus, I figured I would bring you your first office warming gift." Iruka smiled as he placed the plant on the windowsill.
"Is it really that late already?" Kakashi said to himself before looking at the clock. "I'm sorry, love. I guess time got away from me."
"It's alright. I know that winter disorients our sense of time."
"Well then, I'm glad I have a mate who is so good at keeping up with me. What would I ever do without you." He said as he slowly approached an unsuspecting dolphin.
"You say that, but you never think about how you drive me crazy~" A sudden pair of arms and a sharp nose buried into his neck, made Iruka stop in his tracks.
Kakashi pulled his mate further into his chest as he took a big whiff and closed his eyes. "You smell… delicious… Did your scent change today?"
"No. I don't think so…" Iruka stuttered as he remained still.
"It must have because there's something about you that is… making me want to devour you…" The horny wolf said as he continued to bury his nose into a tanned neck. The feel of his mouth salivating only made the situation worse.
Although Iruka did not notice it, Kakashi's strong sense of smell picked up that his mate was going through the early stages of his heat. Usually, omegas could feel when their heat comes. However, if an omega is consistently sexually active, then it can delay their cycle or dull their senses until they entered the second or third day. And, unfortunately for Iruka, Kakashi caught onto his light scent before the dolphin could prepare himself.
The tanned brunette froze as he felt his mate's large, powerful hands move along his body and a semi-harden member pressed against his lower back.
"Kakashi… we can't… not here… Someone might walk in on us…" He whispered.
"I sealed the door after you entered the room. No one is getting in or out unless I say so…" The silver-haired wolf growled before he guided them towards his office chair. "Sit."
Iruka did as he was told without resistance. A dark blush appeared over his scarred nose as he gazed into his alpha's red, slitted eyes. Finally, the effects of his heat kicked in and his mind was clouded. Only the sound of his mate's deep, husky voice could get through. Instinctively, Iruka removed his coat and Jonin jacket, and let them drop to the floor before he opened his legs. Kakashi gave a wolfish smile as he licked his lips and did the same without breaking eye contact.
Iruka could feel his body temperature rise as he submitted to his mate and watched as the silver-haired wolf stripped to just his pants and sandals. Suddenly, Kakashi pulled out a kunai and pointed the tip at Iruka's neck. The omega knew that his alpha would never harm him, but the danger excited him, and it showed. Again, without breaking eye contact, Kakashi hooked his finger into the top of Iruka's turtleneck and used the kunai to slice open his shirt. Once the item of clothing was ripped open, Kakashi disregarded the kunai in favor of attacking heated tanned skin. It took every bit of restraint Iruka had left to not squirm too much in the chair while Kakashi felt him up. It didn't take long before both were dressed and Iruka was settled comfortably onto Kakashi's back. The silver-haired wolf undid the seal and was about to leave when Iruka said, "Wait. Shouldn't we clean up a little first? It'll be embarrassing leaving the office like this."
"Naw. Don't worry about it. I'll leave a note explaining that I will be unavailable for a few days and to make sure Naruto cleans up the mess before I come back. Simple." He smiled.
Iruka blinked a few times before he shook his head, tightened his grip around his mate's neck, and buried his face between strong shoulder blades.
"You're impossible, and I hate you."
"Hn. Well, let's see how much you hate me after we spend the next few days in bed together."
And with that, Kakashi turned the light off and whisked Iruka away to their apartment where he made good on his promise to his mate. Unfortunately, it ended with him being banned from their bedroom for the next week, a scolding from both Tsunade and Naruto, and he got to miss his favorite part: Naruto's horrified face when he found Kakashi's note the next day. At least he learned a lesson early on in his career: it's never a dull day as the Hidden Leaf's Hokage.
