It was the 3rd day of camp, and the boys of Class 1-A were training like their lives depended on it as the sun rose. Most of them were doing somewhat fine, albeit a little tired, but a few certain boys weren't having the best time with only getting 2 hours of sleep.
Katsuki did everything to fight off his drowsiness as he stuck his hands in the barrel drum of boiling water before firing a massive explosion into the air. "I'm awake, dammit!"
The explosion combined with the screaming forced Sato to wake up from his sleep eating, until slowly falling back to sleep as he shoved more chocolate into his mouth.
Sero and Mineta were having a kind of capture duel, constantly using their quirks on each other to try to capture the other person.
Sero was crying out in pain from using his tape for 40 minutes straight so far, and blood flowed down Mineta's head from using too many balls. Yet, they continued on without any signs of stopping until the other one is captured.
Kaminari fell to the ground at Kirishima's feet, his brain completely fried. "Whey…"
Kirishima stood there with his body hardened, yet slightly twitching from having just been hit with 1.3 million volts of electricity as he grit his teeth. "That woke me up…" He looked over at Shoto, who was sitting in his barrel drum of water with a circle of fire surrounding the drum, and waved at him. "Yo, Todoroki! Help me out too, yeah?!"
Shoto extinguished the fire around him and stepped out of the drum, wringing water out of shirt and shorts. "Sure, but would you rather have me start out with ice or fire?"
Kirishima gave him a toothy grin. "Surprise me!"
Shoto shook some water off his left arm before shooting a blast of fire at Kirishima.
Kirishima positioned his arms in front of his body to shield himself, but his hardening slowly became undone as his eyelids fluttered.
Before the fire could hit Kirishima, Izuku tackled him out of the way, the fire singeing off some of his hair.
Izuku lightly panted as he sat on the ground, a small flame still lit on his hair. He looked down to see Kirishima laying down and gave a small smile. "Are you okay?"
"Yep…I'm good." Kirishima groaned as he got up, sitting next to Izuku. "Thanks for the save, Midoriya. Wait, you got a little…" He hardened two of his fingers before extinguishing the flame on Izuku's hair. "I'm sure glad I asked you to supervise my training."
"You alright, Midoriya? You're not burned, are you?" Shoto asked, tilting his head.
Izuku shook his head, smiling. "No burns here." He stretched his arms. "You can go back to your training, Todoroki. As his supervisor, I think it's best if Kirishima takes a break from training his hardening against the elements."
Shoto gave a simple nod, glancing at Kirishima to see that he was okay before dipping back into the barrel drum.
"Aww c'mon. I can still tank a few fire or ice attacks. What happened back there was only a fluke." Kirishima pounded his hardened fists together. "Put me back out there, coach!"
"Maybe it was only a fluke, but I think it's best that we don't risk it until later on in the day when we're all feeling more awake and alert." Izuku suggested as he let out a sigh. "But I do feel bad that the only reason you feel that I need to supervise you is because I woke everybody up last night, resulting in all of us starting earlier than usual and being exhausted."
Kirishima lightly shoved Izuku with his shoulder. "Don't beat yourself up over that, Midoriya. It's not a manly thing to blame yourself when you're not entirely at fault. We all participated in making all that noise last night."
"If you really wanna have someone to blame, then go for Bakugo." Kaminari sat up, one side of his hair completely disheveled with some dried-up drool under his lips. "We all could've gone to sleep after you woke us up, but he started that awesome pillow fight."
"Happy to see you're up, Kaminari." Izuku greeted before rubbing the back of his neck. "But I can't exactly put all the blame on him either…After all, I did throw the pillow back at him, resulting in Sero getting hit, and that's what really started the pillow fight. Mr. Aizawa's right…I have to control my impulses to retaliate whenever he does something…"
"Bah, who needs control? Every time you retaliate, it feels deserved to me." Kaminari smirked. "Besides, it's always fun to see Bakugo get hit by some karma. Kacchan is always my favorite person to make fun of."
"Kacchan…Ya know, I thought I was being crazy before, but I noticed you haven't been calling Bakugo by that nickname whenever you talk about him. What's up with that?" Kirishima glanced over at Katsuki who was still firing off explosions before looking at Izuku.
"Oh, that…" Izuku looked down at the ground and let out a sigh. "I think that I've outgrown saying that name. That's all it is. But what sucks about that is that I'm not sure what to call him now. I could call him by his first name, considering we've known each other since childhood and all, but that doesn't feel right to me. There's also calling him by his last name like everyone else does, so that's a route I can take. I have also considered giving him some kind of nickname or calling him something like how he calls me a nerd. But I come up empty whenever I try to think of anything…"
It was true though. He struggled with trying to figure out what he should call Katsuki. He can't just refer to his old friend as "him" forever. That'd be ridiculous. He thought about bringing up this matter with Kyouka, but knowing that Katsuki is far from her favorite person, he doubted that she would provide any peaceful solutions.
"You can call him Hot Head." Kaminari suggested.
Kirishima snapped his fingers. "How about Explosion Boy?"
"Grumpy."
"Hedgehog."
"Blasty."
"Bakubro."
"Sparky Sparky Boom Man."
"Combustioneer."
"Sewage Mouth."
"Mr. Splodes-Alot."
Izuku sweatdropped at these nickname suggestions, internally throwing them all away in the garbage. "I'm sorry, but I don't think either of those would work very well."
Kirishima ran his hand through his hair and sighed. "You know, Midoriya, I think you might be overthinking this a little much. I don't understand the details of your past with Bakugo, and I won't pry, but I say you should just call him by his last name and kinda let go of your past. Okay, maybe let go isn't the best term to use, but you know what I mean. It can be a temporary thing, so if you ever see yourself getting close to him again, then you can stick with a nickname or start calling him by his first name. At the end of the day, do what feels comfortable to you and as long as no one gets hurt at the end of the day, then you're doing good." He smirked and clenched his fist. "A real man keeps true to himself at all times and doesn't let the past control him."
"Whoa, I didn't think you could be so profound." Kaminari let out a small chuckle and patted Izuku's back. "But yeah, call him Bakugo like the rest of us. But the nicknames we gave out are always open for adoption. On a side note, am I allowed to call him Kacchan every once in a while?"
"You know what…I think you're right, Kirishima. I have to just suck it up and call him Bakugo. Yeah, Bakugo." Izuku then stuck out his tongue. "Bleh, that'll take some getting used to." He turned to Kaminari. "And sure you can. It's not like I was the only person who called him that."
"Sweet! I'm so gonna call him that the next time I greet him." Kaminari started fantasizing about Katsuki's reaction. He would surely be met with explosions to his face, but it would be oh-so-worth it.
Kirishima sweatdropped. "Try not to die, Kaminari…"
The three boys then started to laugh and have some banter amongst themselves, talking about different possible ways Katsuki might react.
But all good things must come to an end eventually.
"You three." The stoplight trio all felt shivers go down their spine before looking behind them to see Aizawa approaching them with his scarf in hand. "Why do I see you just idly sitting by when you should be training? I would think that the failures would be the most motivated to work hard, but it seems that the lessons from last night weren't enough. Do the three of you need to be re-educated?"
"I-It's not like that, Mr. Aizawa! We were training hard just moments ago! This was only a small huddle to plan our next session! Honest!" Izuku stood up straight and saluted his teacher.
Kirishima stood up and saluted as well. "That's right, sir! We are disciplined and manly students who only seek to improve their physical capabilities under the watchful eyes of our instructors!"
Kaminari followed the actions of his two friends, but saluted with the wrong hand. "What they said!"
Aizawa looked unimpressed by this display of bravado as he rolled his eyes. "Uh-huh…Anyway, I'll let you off with a warning this time. As long as you can get this one into shape with you."
He tugged at his scarf and stepped to the side to reveal a tied-up Mina was laying on the ground with a bump on her head. "Wassup, guys…"
"I caught her sneaking into the kitchen, scavenging around like some kind of rat."
"Do you have to call me a rat? Not something a little cuter like a mouse? And why did you smack my head? It hurts…" Mina whined, pouting at her teacher.
"I wouldn't have to if you responded to the ten times I called out your name while you were stuffing your face." Aizawa retorted before letting go of his scarf and walking away. "I expect you four to be training like your lives depend on it the next time I check up on you. Or else."
The boys helped untie Mina and she just laid on the ground with her arms sprawled out with a satisfied smile on her face as the boys sat by her legs. "I regret nothin'. I even copped a couple of snacks to share with you guys when no one's looking."
"Oh, sweet! You can be useful for something." Kaminari rubbed his hands together, but was met with a swift kick to the chin from Mina.
"I was only teasin'!" Kaminari held onto his red chin before smacking Mina over the head.
"I'm sensitive there right now! Don't make me dumber than I already am!" Mina held her hands over her head. "I don't wanna stoop down to your level!"
"My level? You're the idiot here?!"
"Who're you calling an idiot, Mr. Jug!"
"Wha-That's not how the saying goes! You're supposed to call me Mr. Urn!"
"That doesn't sound right either!"
The two resident idiots continued to bicker while Kirishima did his best to make peace between the two before they keep hitting each other or get into an actual fight. During this altercation, Izuku ran over to Aizawa, who was now scolding Sato for falling asleep.
"Mr. Aizawa."
"Huh?" Aizawa turned to Izuku and narrowed his eyes at the boy, his eyes slowly starting to glow red. "Didn't I just tell you to start training like your lives depended on it?"
Izuku felt the fear of god planted into him as he used every ounce of his will to stand up straight even though his legs were slightly shaking. "I-I was about to, sir! I only wanted to ask a question!"
Aizawa's eyes turned back to normal, and his expression turned into a bored one. "Go on…"
Izuku gulped, silently praying that his question wouldn't put even more of a damper on his teacher's mood. "Would it be alright to…get into contact with All Might?"
"You want to talk to that idiot? How come?"
"Why? Um, because…it's clear that we both specialize in strength-based quirks, so I thought it would help to get any tips from him to stress test my quirk…"
But really, Izuku wanted to ask All Might about his dream about One For All and All For One. Since he woke up, countless questions have been racing through his mind. Even if he could have at least one of those questions answered, his mind would be put at ease. He can't even properly focus on his training and his reaction to tackling Kirishima out of the way of Shoto's fire was delayed. He was sure that if he was entirely focused, he wouldn't have had his hair singed.
"Oh, really…?" Aizawa looked unconvinced by this reasoning before groaning and pinching the bridge of his nose. "Okay…tell you what, I'll try my best to try to arrange some kind of contact between you two for tomorrow. That better work for you cause that's the best you're getting out of me."
Izuku's face brightened and he bowed at the man. "That works perfectly for me! Thank you, Mr. Aizawa! I'm grateful for this!"
"Don't be so loud when it's so early…" Aizawa closed his eyes in annoyance before opening them back up. "Remember, this isn't a guarantee that you'll actually get into contact with him. I'm only saying that I'll make an attempt. If you think that talking to that buffoon will help you in your training, then I don't see the harm in trying."
"I'm still grateful!"
"Now, you have 10 seconds to start training, or else I'll cancel the arrangement immediately and you won't be allowed to eat for the rest of the day. 2 seconds now."
"H-Huh?!"
"1…"
In an instant, Izuku activated Full Cowling and started doing push-ups as intensely as possible, his head smashing into the ground.
"I might've pushed him too far…" Aizawa spoke under his breath, feeling the ground slightly rumble beneath his feet with each push-up from his student.
He then shrugged his shoulders and began making his way toward Sero and Mineta, who were laying on their backs, ready to scold them for taking a break.
'Oh well…I suppose I should give All Might a call tonight. That is if he answers and doesn't overexert himself today, being overly conspicuous when on the job. Ugh, I get it's important to be a symbol seen by everybody, but doesn't he practice moderation? With any luck, Midoriya won't be so flashy in the future. But I'm not optimistic with how much the kid looks up to that guy.'
The time was now 10AM, the girls having joined in on the training 4 hours ago. But now it was time for everyone's 15 minute break that came every 4 hours.
Every student was given a protein bar and a bottle of water, and they all sat in their own groups, scattered along the training grounds.
Kyouka groaned, massaging the tips of her earphone jacks. "We seriously have to keep doing this and somehow survive for 4 more days?"
Izuku took a sip of water, ignoring his bright red forehead. "Yeah, this is a bit much even for me…But I trust that we'll get stronger from all this."
He pulled his shirt up to wipe off most of the sweat from his face, not noticing Kyouka's quick glance at his abs.
Kyouka wasn't exactly proud that she's been doing this every time he uses his shirt to wipe off sweat after a workout. But she can't help herself. When gold is right in front of you, you'd be insane to not look.
And she's been able to witness this gold for over a year now. Even before he got shredded and was still so scrawny when he started to train under All Might, she would still take peeks at him.
But it didn't mean she was perverted…right?
Izuku finally finished wiping off his sweat and let his shirt fall, covering up his abs.
"Dammit…" Kyouka dropped her head as she propped her arms on her knees and proceeded to keep on the subject of training so that she wouldn't seem like a weirdo. "At least I have some conditioning to this kind of training, but I preferred doing it at my own pace instead of being forced to train til I drop. Wait, that's not accurate…Lot of us dropped like flies yesterday and were still told to do what we could. It was so humiliating to keep honing my jacks while I was prone on the ground."
"At least no one's dropped so far." Izuku then looked around and could see that he was clearly lying, with at least half of the boys in 1-A not being able to sit up and being fed by their friends as a result. Then there's Katsuki, who was too stubborn to accept any help when Kirishima offered and just ate his protein bar off the ground.
"Sure…About that, why are so many of you boys tired? And you all looked like you'd all been training for a little while when we came out." Kyouka raised her head and narrowed her eyes at her hero. "How much?"
A bead of sweat rolled down Izuku's head. "How much what?"
"How much did you sleep last night?"
Izuku looked to the side and quietly muttered. "2 hours…"
"I see…That sucks…" Kyouka frowned.
"You're not gonna scold me?"
"Why would I? It's clear that you didn't have much of a choice in how much sleep you got." Kyouka took a bite of her protein bar and spoke with a mouth half full. "But why were you guys forced to train so early? Mr. Aizawa may be strict as hell, but he wouldn't do that to you guys for no reason. It was because of Bakugo, wasn't it? I need someone to blame for this."
"No, it wasn't…Bakugo's fault. It was mine."
Kyouka almost choked at hearing Izuku call Katsuki 'Bakugo', and proceeded to chug some of her water to wash down the food.
She couldn't believe that he officially isn't calling Katsuki "Kacchan" anymore.
Her wish did come true after all! And she didn't even have to bring up with him as she planned!
As much as she wanted to ask him about his new naming convention for that asshole, she decided that now might not be the best time.
With how little time they have for these breaks, she'd appreciate it if the subject of Katsuki Bakugo didn't take up any unnecessary amount of time.
Perhaps she'll bring it up whenever they have free time, but it could also be for the best to avoid talking about him as much as possible and just let things happen naturally. Her interference could cause Izuku to reconsider what he calls Katsuki, and she'd like to avoid Izuku reverting back to using that childhood nickname.
Preferably, she would like him to call Katsuki names like "Asshole", "Douchebag", "Fuckface", "Jerkoff", "Prick", "Dickhead", "Scumbag", "Yahoo", "Dickbutt", "Bitch", "Disappointment", or "Mistake."
She could keep going on and on the list of potential names for him. Within the 8 years that she's known about him, she started compiling names for this list. It started fairly innocent at first, the only names she could come up with were "Doofus", "Jerk", and "Craphead."
Okay, that last name wasn't so innocent, but it's what she heard her dad say whenever his favorite sports team was losing. Her mom sure was pissed when Kyouka first used that word on one of her guitar strings after it snapped. Both she and her dad got an earful that day.
Kyouka shook her head to refocus herself, taking her mind off this whole nickname crap. She raised an eyebrow at her hero, showing interest. "Your fault? What'd you do?"
"I unconsciously released a huge burst of power in my sleep after having this crazy dream." Izuku crossed his arms, tapping one of his arms with his finger. "I can still remember so vividly…"
"Dream? Tell me all about it." Kyouka straightened her body, ready to take in every word about to come out of Izuku's mouth. A dream making him release his power has to be of some importance.
But this better not be another thing All Might omitted when telling her hero about One For All. She's sick and tired of learning new things about that power that he's known forever.
Izuku began to summarize his dream to her, but Kyouka had to stop him early into the summary after she thought she heard him say something she didn't like one bit. "Wait, pause. Did you say that you saw a beautiful woman?"
Izuku nodded, giving a bright smile as he was completely unaware of the slow-rising jealousy of his best friend. "I did. I mean, she was absolutely gorgeous."
Kyouka's boiling blood became almost audible to the naked ear as she forced a wide smile, doing her best to keep cool and not freak out, telling Izuku that he was not allowed to dream about that woman ever again. It's one thing if a beautiful woman appears in her dreams to try to take Izuku away from her, but it's another if those women are in his own dreams. After all, he's at that age where it isn't uncommon for boys to have steamy dreams of beautiful women.
She almost blurted out a confession at this very moment in order to keep Izuku from thinking about this woman any longer.
'Whoever this woman is better pray that she isn't real, or I'll teach her a thing or two about appearing in his dreams. What if she's actually some sort of succubus who's invading his dream and trying to drive him to temptation? Why I oughta…Wait, what can I do if she was a succubus invading his dreams? Is there some kinda freaky witch that can get into Izuku's mind and erase that woman?'
While Kyouka continued on with her delusions and looked deep in thought, Izuku tilted his head, curious about what his best friend was thinking about. "Are you with me, Kyouka?"
The girl was snapped out of her delusions and rapidly nodded, giving a wider-than-necessary smile. "Yep, yep! Um, go on with telling me about your dream!"
"Uh, okay…" Admittedly, Izuku was caught off guard by her reaction, but he figured that maybe she was tired herself and is overcompensating for her lack of energy. Anyway, he decided to continue on with summarizing his dream and this time, he got to finish.
When Kyouka took a minute to process all the details of this dream, she placed her hand on her forehead. "You saw all of that and still remember it so vividly? I'm only hearing about it and I'm having trouble here…"
"I've been replaying the dream in my head for hours now, so it still feels a little fresh to me. I even wrote down details in my notebook along with a few rough drawings in case I do lose the mental images. I'll show them to you tonight when we're all finished with training for the day." Izuku slightly leaned forward and scratched his head. "I still have no idea what any of it means, but I'm willing to hear out any hypothesis you may have."
Kyouka closed her eyes and stroked her chin to think of anything before opening her eyes and raising a finger. "Oh-Wait, no that's dumb…" She lowered her finger and raised it back up. "Ah-Nope, that's worse…" She lowered her finger again and raised it once more. "Okay, I think I got it. Ignoring that All For One flashback bit, maybe the past users of One For All are trying to give you a warning? That something big is coming or something of the sort…"
'Shit, it just hit me that that beautiful woman must be a past One For All user. Ooh, now I feel kinda crappy for threatening a probably dead woman who had the same power as Izuku…I am so going to hell.'
"Warning me, you say? That could be true. One of the last things the first user told me was that we're past the singularity point. And if that relates to the theory of Quirk Singularity Doomsday, then I can see how that would be a warning."
"Huh, yeah, you talked to me about that theory back in middle school one time. It's about quirks getting stronger with each generation until eventually getting out of control, right?"
"Wow, I'm surprised you remembered that. I barely remember telling you."
"It just…stuck with me."
'Yeah, right. More like I do my best to absorb every word that comes out of your mouth.'
"In any case, if One For All does relate to that Doomsday theory, then I have to admit that I'm kind of worried now. And a little scared…"
Kyouka didn't let herself hope for a second that Izuku would reconsider having this burden of a quirk, expecting what his next words will be.
An optimistic smile formed on the boy's face, and he looked at the palm of his right hand before closing it into a fist. "But once I do find out what it is, whether it's good or bad, I'll do my best to overcome it and make the best out of the situation."
Kyouka internally sighed, but still smiled along with him as she gently placed her hand on his fist. "And you got your partn-best friend figuring it all out with you."
Whatever it is he has to face concerning his dream and One For All, she'll be by his side every step of the way. This quirk may be more trouble than it's worth, but if he's willing to go through every hardship it brings, then why can't she?
In the middle of the afternoon, Monoma was running around with engines on his calves, doing his best to maintain his momentum and not have a total wipeout.
His training consisted of constantly touching multiple touching students, copying their quirks, and trying to use them for a short while before switching to another quirk. His goal was to attempt to increase the number of quirks he can store from three to four and be more efficient with using newer ones on the spot.
He opted for only copying his classmates' quirks, but Vlad King insisted-strongly insisted with force-that he should copy the quirks of those in 1-A since those would be newer and fresher to him.
Objectively, it was a good idea to get out of his comfort zone to push his abilities even further.
But frankly, he felt disgusted that he had to depend on those 1-A jerks for his training, but he must do what was necessary in order to get ahead of them in any way he can.
However, there were a few students he wanted to avoid touching. The first would be Katsuki because he knows that the delinquent would blow a fuse and try to attack him for the rest of the day. No way he's willing to get himself hurt over a quirk and even if he managed to evade Katsuki, it'd all be a waste of his precious time.
The second person he'd like to avoid would be Izuku because if he gets too close while that boy is training with Tiger, the Pro Hero will either smack him into next week or drag him into his training with the other power types such as Jurota and Sen. He'd personally prefer not to put himself through that. He's fine with his current training regimen.
The third and final quirk he'd avoid copying would be Kyouka's, simply for the fact that he's utterly terrified of what her reaction might be to being touched while she's this engrossed in her training. He can see the intense look in her eyes as she repeatedly honed her jacks against the stone wall.
He gulped, a flash of a possible outcome of initiating her wrath on him.
So far, the quirks he had copied were Aoyama's, Koda's, and recently Tenya's. Now that he's gotten a bit more accustomed to Tenya's quirk, it's time for him to switch to another. He looked in front of him and took notice that he was approaching Mina and Kyouka as they trained.
Mina's quirk would be the perfect one to copy. If he copies her quirk, he'll be able to keep his momentum, using the acid to slide. If a dunce like her can do it with ease, then there's no reason that he can't.
As he reached his hand out to touch her shoulder, the girl collapsed onto the ground and started to snore.
'Curses!'
He dug his heels against the ground, and started to slide across it, hoping he'd stop himself before it was too late. But at his current speed, he couldn't stop himself, nor could he lower his hand in time before accidentally touching Kyouka's shoulder.
'Dear god no…'
Earphone jacks sprouted from his earlobes and his eyes fixated on the girl he just made contact with, watching as she slowly slowed down her jacks and faced the wall for a few seconds.
Suddenly, her head snapped to face him, her eyes piercing his own. He immediately switched over to Engine and made a run for it, trying to get as far as he could so that at least he had a chance to survive.
As he ran, he felt a weird sensation within himself.
He should have Tenya and Koda's quirk stored along with Kyouka's, but he felt that Koda's was gone. And it wasn't that his time limit ran out, and the quirk was lost, but it was replaced. He could feel that he still had three quirks copied, but there was a third mystery quirk.
'Peculiar…Is it possible that I copied two separate quirks from Jirou? It is evident that I have her Earphone Jack right now, but what is this second quirk?' Monoma continued to run as he pondered on the situation. 'Perhaps I shall switch over to this mystery quirk and take a gander at what it's made of. This may be my only opportunity to discover what Jirou's weaknesses are. It's a possibility that I won't have to live the rest of my high school life under her iron fist anymore! Yes! It will be glorious! Jirou, your reign of terror will come to an end and the rise of Class B will be inevitable!'
Right as he was about to turn on this other quirk to see what it was and finally be one step closer to surpassing Class 1-A, he completely stopped paying attention to his surroundings until-
BAM
He ran right into hardened Kirishima, was then smacked in the face by Ojiro, and finally took a punch to his side from a sugared-up Sato. That final punch sent him flying into a pile of purple balls.
Stars spun around his head, completely dazed from the blows he had taken. But when he came to, he found himself stuck in this pile of sticky balls. He was about to shout at someone to get him out, but then a ball was thrown at his mouth.
"I'm too exhausted to deal with your yappin'…" Mineta groaned out as blood flowed from his scalp, pulling out another ball and adding it to the pile.
Monoma released muffled screams into the ball as he struggled to get out, alternating between growing a tail, hardening his body, and having the need for sugar. But it was all futile, his body not moving a single centimeter.
From a distance, Kyouka smirked as she could barely hear Monoma's screams and returned to her training.
'I don't know what happened, but I know you deserve it for having the nerve to copy my quirk without my permission. Suffer…'
It was nighttime and Aizawa was leading the group of failures to the facility for the supplementary lessons they had to take. It was easy to say that no one was a fan of this, but at least Aizawa released them from their bindings.
"Man, it totally sucks to be stuck in here. I want to be doing the test of courage with everyone else." Kirishima clenched his fist, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"I hear ya. I could've had my summer romance with a girl clinging on to my arm for protection." Kaminari's head dropped.
"What, were you hoping one of us girls would cling to your arm for protection?" Mina teased, smirking at him.
"I'd also accept one of the chicks from Class B accidentally tripping when they try to scare me before I catch them in my arms." Kaminari looked over at Mina. "You telling me that you had no plans for romance in mind? I'd expect you of all people to be gushing over this stuff."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk…" Mina wagged her finger with the face of the most confident human being to ever exist. "My dear Kaminari, you misunderstand my true goals. I have no personal pursuit of romance myself. I'm more in the pursuit of generating romances among the populace. Imagine, I'm partnered up with a boy, let's say Bakugo. Then-"
"Why Bakugo of all people?"
"Shh! Let me finish!" Mina shoved her finger against Kaminari's lips. "Anyway, I'm paired with Bakugo, right? Then we're scared by someone like Shiozaki. Ya following me?" This earned her a nod. "What I do is scream as loud as I can, distracting them both before I shove Bakugo into Shiozaki's arms. Finally, I step back and observe the results to see if there's a spark of romance or not. It doesn't have to be Shiozaki, and it doesn't have to be a girl, but what's important is that Bakugo would be the best test subject. Imagine if I could be the one to give Bakugo, of all people, a romantic partner." She proudly spread out her arms. "I would be a miracle worker and be able to accomplish anything in the whole world! I may as well become a queen! No, a goddess!"
Kaminari watched as Mina laughed boisterously as he had a stick he picked up earlier in between his lips and nose. "That would be a miracle…I could never imagine Bakugo settling down." He removed the stick and pointed it at her. "I think that's the smartest you've ever sounded…How come you couldn't be this smart during our final exam?"
"I only use my brain for the important things in life." Mina poked her head. "Gotta reserve all this think power."
Katsuki had to use every ounce of his will to not beat up those two idiots at this very moment for talking about him in such stupid fairy tale scenarios. 'I'll kill those two idiots once we're not in the presence of any teachers.'
Izuku overheard that entire conversation and felt himself get a little bummed out, his eyes going half-lidded. "A summer romance, huh?"
'So tonight could've been my chance to confess to Kyouka or at least have a romantic moment with her? Why did I have to fail?!' Suddenly, his eyes shot wide open, almost bulging out of his skull as the worst-case scenario popped into his head. 'Oh god, no one's gonna make any moves on Kyouka, right?! And if they do, will she reciprocate?! CRAP!'
The rest of the Class 1-A were gathered in front of a forest along with the Wild, Wild Pussycats. Well, one of them wasn't present.
Mandalay looked over at Ragdoll. "Where's Pixie-Bob? She was supposed to be here with the rest of us."
"Oh, she decided that she wanted to take my position instead so she went ahead so you wouldn't argue with her." Ragdoll got closer to whisper in Mandalay's ear. "She told me that she wants to give that Jirou girl a real scare after what happened on their first day here."
Mandalay sweatdropped and took a quick look at Kyouka, who was facing the direction of the facility, looking a little down. "Will she ever learn to let things go? You know, she's still bitter about me eating her watermelon from last week."
"Well, she was saving that watermelon for a special occasion. I heard it was pretty expensive too."
"…I regret nothing."
Tiger watched this exchange between the loud whisperers and made a mental note to buy a watermelon for his teammates at the end of the week. He then cleared his throat and loudly clapped his hands together before explaining the test of course by himself.
However, Kyouka felt very disturbed by his last remark about making the other students piss their pants as she covered her ears. "I'm sick and tired of hearing about pissing! No more!"
Ragdoll pulled out a bunch of paper strips with numbers. "Okay everyone, draw for your partners!"
Everyone drew a paper strip and the teams were decided.
Team 1: Yuga Aoyama & Mezo Shoji
Team 2: Ochako Uraraka & Tenya Iida
Team 3: Tsuyu Asui & Koji Koda
Team 4: Momo Yaoyorozu & Fumikage Tokoyami
Team 5: Mashirao Ojiro & Toru Hagakure
Team 6: Kyouka Jirou & Shoto Todoroki
Kyouka internally groaned as she rolled her eyes, glancing at Shoto. "So, we're partners, huh?"
"I suppose we are. For your sake, I hope you don't scare easy." Shoto kept his eyes on the forest, not noticing Kyouka's glance turning into a glare. "I'll support you in Midoriya's stead."
'This guy loves to push my buttons, doesn't he? Trying to patronize me and still trying to pretend that he cares about Izuku. Todoroki, don't think I've forgotten that rigged match of yours against Izuku. Wait a sec…I might have an opportunity to make him look bad. I could "accidentally" trip and really scratch myself up. Then either one of two things can happen: Todoroki will blame himself and feel too guilty to be Izuku's friend anymore, or Izuku will be disappointed in Todoroki's ability to take care of me and distance himself from that guy. Though, I'm very doubtful about the second possible outcome...It's only a light amount of manipulation, and is it so bad if it's for the best for Izuku?...Is that going too far even for me?'
As Kyouka had a moral debate with herself, the teams were periodically entering the forest. It was about one more minute until it was Kyouka and Shoto's turn to head into the forest, but some kind of foul smell entered the area.
Mandalay then took notice of rising black smoke from deep into the forest and grit her teeth. "What's happening…"
Tiger had his arms crossed and looked around until slightly panicking and placing his hands on his head. "And where in the hell is Jirou?!"
Shoto sighed as he slowly shook his head. 'I believe Midoriya has too much of an influence on you, Jirou. But whether that is for better or worse will depend on what happens next…'
Kyouka was running through the forest as fast as she could with a single goal in mind.
Find Kota and get him to safety.
It wasn't worth getting approval from the heroes that were present because it would only be a waste of time to try to convince them.
She remembered yesterday when they had dinner and Izuku came back from talking to Kota. He shared with her where that kid's little secret hideout was. It was this cliff that overlooked the forest, with a dark cave next to it.
And before he was dragged off by Aizawa, Izuku asked her to take care of Kota and make sure he doesn't get in any trouble in his stead.
So it wasn't that she was searching for this brat out of the goodness of her heart. If Izuku didn't seem so attached to him despite him not deserving it, she would run straight to the facility instead to check on her hero. But now she feels like she has an obligation towards Kota.
'I really don't want to be doing this! But there's no way I'm letting Izuku down! This will be nice and easy! Just check in on the brat and bring him to the facility! Then we'll both be safe and I'll be with Izuku! Yeah!' Kyouka tried to run faster, pushing her legs to their limits. 'Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that Izuku failed. Because if he was here, I know he would think like a hero and fight whoever he thinks he has to. So thank god he's stuck with the other failures and the teachers.'
After about a minute of running, she finally reached the cliff and saw Kota, who was looking at the forest, his face full of fear.
Kyouka took a second to turn where the kid was looking and she let out a gasp. She saw the smoke earlier, but seeing the blue flames raging in the forest was something else. And was that some kind of purple fog nearby the flames?
'That's insane…I'm not touching either of those with a hundred-foot pole. No way. At least my job's done now.'
Kota heard the gasp and he slightly jumped, but when he turned to see Kyouka, he forced the fear to leave his face. But he couldn't fully conceal his fear, with his body slightly shaking and beads of sweat running down his head. "Wh-What are you doing here? And how did you know about my hiding spot?"
"Izuku told me. You know, the boy whose balls you tried to punch a couple days ago. When we get back, you better thank him like no tomorrow." Kyouka closed the distance between her and the boy and forcefully poked his forehead. "Got that? I'm expecting the kind of respect you would show royalty."
"Don't poke me so hard!" Kota swatted her hand away. "And who said I wanted your help? You can't trick me into thanking that guy. He has no business worrying about me in the first place. He's stupid."
Kyouka took in a deep breath and tried to ignore that this brat just blatantly called her hero stupid. "Okay…I agree he has no business, but he's making it his business and that means it's mine too." She grabbed his arm, not wanting to deal with convincing him. "Now quit your whining and come with me. I know you're really a scaredy-cat, so don't complain."
"Hey, let go of me!" Kota tried to pull away from her grasp, but he didn't realize that Kyouka has dragged Izuku away from training many times despite his struggles and being a lot stronger than she is. It was a losing battle to begin with.
"Don't try to fight with me, brat. It's dangerous out here right now, and that's not even mentioning the forest. Now. Let's. Go." Kyouka began pulling Kota away, while the kid did his best to plant his feet against the ground to resist, only slowing them down a little.
"You should listen to her, kid." A voice of a man spoke from the cave, heavy footsteps beginning to exit. "The forest is filled with dangerous creatures…."
Kyouka felt her entire body go cold from the voice and the hairs in her arm stood on end as she felt her body come to a stop. Who is this man and why is he in a cave? That's not normal.
It's not Tiger. He's at the starting area with Mandalay and Ragdoll. And it's certainly not Aizawa or Vlad. They're with the failures, taking care of them.
So, who is that?
Kota's entire body was shaking more than before as his eyes were glued to the cave, not being able to look away. He wanted to run, but something was telling him that he had to look.
A large man exited the cave, wearing a black cloak and a white mask with six holes in it. The man reached for his mask and removed it before shaking off his hood, revealing his ash-blonde hair, prosthetic eye, and a deranged smirk that could only belong to a psychopath filled with bloodlust.
"And I'm the most dangerous of them all."
A/N
Chapter 60 is done! I hope this chapter wasn't a slog for you guys because I'll be honest, parts of it were a bit of a slog for me to write. But I'm excited to write the upcoming chapters since I have most of it planned out now.
Chapter would've come out a little sooner, but I found myself getting sucked in by Jedi Survivor, which was mixed along with finals. Then I finished that game and finals before going right into TOTK. I only planned on playing a bit of that game and finishing this chapter, but I ended up sinking 150+ hours into it. Amazing game.
Fuck, I gotta finish the next chapter before July 7th or I'll get sucked into the new Trails game coming out which I 100% will keep playing until I beat it. No regrets!
Anyway, time to get to work on the Muscular fight. How will Kyouka fare and will she end up dying, ending this story in chapter 61? The world may never know. Except for somewhat soon. I can guarantee you won't have to wait as long as you waited for this chapter.
Time for the reviews!
Bucio: Don't forget that Sero is a part of that exclusive club too. I do want to do more stuff with the 1-B girls and you might be able to see some of that in upcoming chapters. Just a minor spoiler there.
Ability King KK: Time for Muscular to get a stern talking to! A classic Kyouka scolding!
TOPCAT-59: Honestly, I do love that idea very much, but I can safely say that this isn't what he's doing. It's got potential for a fanfic though.
Cyber-RK18: Stewie Griffin: The Super Saiyan and the one with some annoying power scaler fans. Jokes aside, I'm sad Goku's backstory was retconned.
Shisarakage: I will say that I was gonna have Kyouka hit Kota harder(like how Naruto hit Konohamaru if you've seen Naruto), but I forgot he was 6 and figured that might be too far.
Mew-the-Dark-Matter-buster1: Izuku is fully aware of his own feelings toward Kyouka, but he just isn't as obsessed as she is. Also, Kyouka better make it in time before that deadline or Ochako is about to become Ms. Steal Your Boy.
Rys-AND-Clash: Appreciate the compliments and kudos to you for binging. I miss being able to binge fics. Those were some damn good times. I barely read fics in general these days lol.
Draconis678: I'll be honest with you man, seeing your review gave me some motivation and energy to speed up in writing this chapter. I'm not able to answer any of the things you wonder right now, but I will admit that I'm still a little unsure on how to handle Toga. One of my goals is to not have a copy of Toga and Ochako's relationship in canon but with Kyouka instead. So yeah, it's hard to think there. But again, thanks for the review and I always love a long review!
Reviews are all done!
That'll be all for this chapter! Feel free to leave a review!
