Author's Notes: Hello Again, Lovies! We're continuing onward with our NaruSasu Pregnancy Saga. This chapter will have two parts in which I will reveal the genders of the babies. This first part is a filler chapter, and the next chapter is where I reveal the truth. I'm dying to know, what genders do you think their babies will be? Let me know in your reviews! Chapter 115: Gravitational Pull
Normal P.O.V.
"Awe man! You're sending me on a mission?! You can't be serious!" groaned Naruto as he gripped his ears in frustration.
"Calm down, Naruto. It's not just you he's sending on this mission, you know," sighed Neji with his arms folded.
"Ya, I'd rather be cuddled up with Hinata and our new puppy anyway," said Kiba as he picked at some earwax before flicking it in another direction.
"Don't do that in my office. And all of you quit your whining. It's not like you'll be gone more than a few days," scolded Kakashi.
"But Kakashi-sensei, you know that these next few days are important to me,"
"I know, I know. It's around the time you'll find out the gender of your kids. Not like you're letting any of us forget. But this mission is important too. So, I need you to focus. The sooner you complete the mission, the sooner the three of you can come back, fair?" The three boys mumbled a reply before Kakashi continued. "Good, now listen up to Shikamaru. He has the mission details,"
"Thank you, Lord Hokage. According to some very unusual reports throughout the Fire Nation, there seem to be more of those cloaked figures that Sasuke and you fought, Naruto. We need the three of you to investigate them. Except for this time, please try and bring one back for questioning. We're not sure what they're after, but we're hoping that you could possibly bring out another one,"
"Oh great. Not only are you using me for bait, but more of these hooded people interfering in my life isn't what I need right now. And I have a question, why are you pairing me up with Neji and Kiba anyway?"
"What's wrong, blondie? Got a problem, do ya?" challenged Kiba.
"No. It's just that, if Sakura-chan, Lee, Sasuke, and I fought them in the past, wouldn't it make more sense to pair me up with them?"
"In normal circumstances, you would be correct, Naruto. However, since Sakura is busy with the hospital with Lady Tsunade and Master Jiraiya away, Lee on another mission, and Sasuke being pregnant, we decided on these two," answered Kakashi.
"Thanks for making us feel like second best," mumbled Neji.
"What Lord Kakashi meant to say was that we specifically choose you three for this mission. Naruto will be the leader since he had the most experience with these people. Kiba and Akamaru are the best at tracking, and Neji's eyes will add to your advantage. As we've said, this mission shouldn't take you too long. No more than about a week or so,"
"A week?!" screamed Naruto.
"But if you guys can play your cards right, I have no doubt that one of them will show up soon," continued Shikamaru.
"And remember, try and bring one of these guys back for questioning. I'll give you some time to say goodbye and pack your things," smiled Kakashi.
The boys received the rest of their mission details before they headed home to pack and prepare themselves.
At the gate, the three boys gave their stuff another look over before they prepared to head out. A heavier pregnant Sasuke with a rounder belly and a glowing Hinata stood at the gate to send them off.
"Man, I can't believe Kakashi-sensei would really send me on a mission right now. He knows how long I've waited for this appointment,"
"Quit your whining, dobe. Hurry the mission up, and you should be back in time. And if not, I can just tell you when you get back. It's not the same. I wanted to actually be there for it! What if we're having two girls? Two boys? A girl and a boy? Or maybe there is one hiding behind one of the twins and there's actually triplets in there?! Or what if one of our babies eats the other before I come back?!" Sasuke and everyone else gave him a concerned look. "What? It could happen. Sasuke, why can't you push your appointment back until I return?"
"Because I don't want an angry Sakura to hunt me down and drag me to my appointment,"
"Fair point. But can't you just make up some excuse or something?"
"Dobe, there is nothing I can come up with that'll make her believe that I can miss my appointment without consequences. Now quit asking me already,"
"Ok," sighed the defeated fox.
"Great. Now that's all we're going to hear about for the next week,"
"Leave him alone, Kiba. You know how excited he is. I'm sure you will be too when it's our turn," blushed Hinata.
"What?!" Everyone gasped.
"Hinata, please tell me that you're not~"
"Don't worry, Big Brother Neji. I'm not. I was just making a comparison,"
"Good. Keep it that way. For now," he glared at Kiba, causing the brunette to swallow a lump in his throat.
"Hinata, please convince Kakashi to take me off this mission. I don't think I can handle an angry Neji or a baby-crazed Naruto,"
She giggled as she stood on the tips of her toes and kissed his lips, "Just hurry back and you'll be fine,"
"Hinata, you'll take care of Sasuke, right?" asked an anxious Naruto as he pushed the blushing dog out of the way.
"Of course. Sasuke-kun and I will have a wonderful time, won't we?"
"I can take care of myself, dobe. I don't need a babysitter,"
"Not while you're pregnant, and I'm not there, you do," said the blond before he kissed his mate's lips. "I'll be back. Try not to stress too much,"
"I'll count the seconds of peace I have left before you come home,"
"Let's get going, you guys. I'm ready to get this over with," said Neji as he led them out of the gates.
The group said their final goodbyes before the gate shut behind them.
"Ugh! I'm so over this," groaned a frustrated Naruto as he sat on the ground.
"Right there with you, pal," sighed Kiba.
Seven grueling days went by as their tedious search continued. To make matters worse, Naruto knew he was already missed Sasuke's gender reveal appointment. Anger and frustration clouded the blond's sight and judgment at times, leaving for the mission to drag out more than necessary. They searched the nearby towns and areas without so much as a single foreign scent or sighting.
"There has to be something we're missing. There's no way we can go this long without a single sighting," pondered Neji.
"Well, my guess would be that they're not after any of us. Maybe they have their own agenda. Couldn't that be a possibility?" asked Kiba.
"Hn. I'm not quite sure. Naruto, what was it like the last time Sasuke and you tried to lure them out?"
"That's the thing, we didn't try to lure them out. Just like we're going here, we were only supposed to make sure everyone was safe while investigating the rumor in the Land of Iron. Sasuke was the one who actually spotted the hooded dude we fought,"
"So, there was nothing special you did to attract them? Damn, that just made our jobs ten times harder,"
"I say we pack up and go home already. There's nothing out here, and there hasn't been for a month now. And I don't know about you two, but Akamaru and I are tired of freezing out here," said Kiba but stopped when he heard his partner growl, "What is it, Akamaru? You sense something?"
Suddenly, the nin-dog took off running ahead of them with his nose to the ground. The other three members chased after him, making sure to keep up with his lead. After a short while, Akamaru skidded to a stop and continued to sniff the air around them.
"What does he smell?" asked Naruto.
Kiba lowered himself to the ground and sniffed it along with his partner. When he caught a whiff of what Akamaru did, he pointed in the direction of a nearby town.
"Looks like we have a visitor over there," he smirked.
Thinking quickly, Naruto sat on the ground and activated his Sage powers, and caught onto the two chakra signatures.
"There's two in that village, but that's it. One of them seems weak though, almost like a baby's. Wait a minute," the blond looked ahead and noticed something strange. "That's the village Sakura and Lee fought the first dude,"
"Are you sure?" questioned Neji.
"Yeah. Sasuke and I investigated it first when we were on our last mission. That means we're back near the Land of Iron again. I wonder why they keep targeting this place though. And why this emptied village,"
"I don't know, but this is the first solid lead we've had all week. Let's not lose him," said Kiba before everyone rushed into the village.
Once inside, they spread out to find their target in hopes of catching them off guard. Carefully each team member treaded through the muddy dirt from the melted snow. Kiba and Akamaru used their noses while Naruto used his Sage powers, and Neji his basic hunting snow leopard instincts to track their prey. Although the village was a decent size, it did not take them long before they stalked their enemy to a nearby house on the outskirts of the town.
"You guys ready?" Naruto whispered.
Kiba and Neji nodded before they rushed into the house through the front door. Once inside, they looked around and saw a curved hooded figure standing in the middle of the room, holding a sleeping baby, and smelt of a wolf.
"Stop right there!" Neji shouted.
The hooded wolf did the opposite and thrust its hand backward and opened a portal. Suddenly, a swirling vortex appeared for their opponent to walk through. Not wanting to lose them, the three boys followed them into the portal and to Heaven's knew where.
The boys ran full speed to try and keep up with their target, but they were always a few steps too short. Luckily, they still managed to push through until they came out the other side. After they exited the other end, the boys came to a stop and caught their breaths.
"Where are we?" asked Kiba.
Neji was the first to step forward. The place was dark and emptied with random dead trees everywhere and hues of purple and gray. It was unlike any place any of them had ever been.
"Hn. Judging from the looks of things, we may no longer be in our dimension. Naruto, have you ever been somewhere like this? I know that you said a lot of weird things happened when we were fighting Kaguya during the war,"
"Not here, no. I've been to a few other dimensions, but nothing like this. Sasuke might have thought. Before he got pregnant, and during the war, he experimented by traveling to several different dimensions. He wanted to test the limits of his Rinnegan was what he said,"
"Then we better keep our eyes peeled. Who knows what we may find here," said Neji as they continued onward.
"That's just great. Why is it that whenever I'm teamed up with blondie, we have to deal with some alien or abnormal ass enemies," sighed Kiba with his hands behind his head.
"Oh, shut up. It's not like it's my fault, ya mutt,"
"Shh, will you two keep it down. I think I hear something,"
Everyone stopped in their tracks. Every hair stood up on their goosebump-lined skin. The sound of a female's menacing giggle filled their ears as their eyes slowly traveled upward. Just above them, their target stood on top of a nearby cliff with the baby still in her arms.
"Well, well, well. Look who followed me here. This is definitely a shocker," the female said before she removed her hood. The boys gasped as they saw a beautiful wolf woman with long, braided gray hair, dark skin, and tattoos on her face. "You young ones shouldn't have followed me,"
"Who are you?! Why are you targeting the Land of Iron?! And what do you plan to do with that baby?!" shouted an angry Naruto.
"I do not answer to you. However, I will honor you with the fight of your lives, if that is what you so choose,"
The boys gasped when they saw her lift the baby into the air before a clear, purple bubble wrapped around it and link itself to her wrist.
"We have to save that baby," said Naruto.
"I have an idea. Kiba and I will distract her while you save the baby,"
"What?! Are you crazy?! You guys can't take her on. You're going to need me,"
"We know that, but what other choice do we have. Naruto, you're the only one who's powerful enough to override her powers. Kiba and I can offer you backup. Once you have the baby, you need to run,"
"I won't leave you two behind,"
"Naruto, usually I wouldn't agree with Neji, but he's right… as always. You're the strongest out of the three of us. The only one that can save that baby is you. Don't worry about us though. I don't plan on dying here today," smiled Kiba as he gave a thumbs up. Akamaru barked in confirmation.
Naruto sighed because he knew he was outnumbered, and that Neji was right. With their objective in mind, the boys prepared themselves for a fight.
"I see you're finally done talking. Very well then, let's play," she smirked before she jumped off with the baby in tow.
Naruto was the first one to move. He immediately activated his Nine-Tails Sage Mode and touched their shoulders. Kurama's chakra cloak surrounded them, much like during the war, to give them that added sense of protection. When the woman was close enough, they rushed her. Kiba and Akamaru was first.
He formed his hand signs to turn Akamaru into a clone of himself for their Fang Over Fang Jutsu. The woman easily dodged them before grabbing the back of their jackets and throwing them off into the distance. Neji was the next to attack.
First, he used his taijutsu skills to get her on the offensive. Although she didn't break a sweat with him, she wasn't prepared for his Gentle Fists: Tenketsu Needle Jutsu. With his Byakugan activated, Neji quickly searched for his opponent's chakra points before he found the closest one. Next, he used his two fingers (pointer and middle) on each hand and mercilessly attacked her torso. The woman screamed in pain as she felt her chakra system practically shut down. Thinking quickly, she raised her right hand, balled it into a fist, and prepared to strike. However, before she could, Neji jumped away and allowed Kiba to appear behind her with another Fang Over Fang Combination.
The attack sent her and the protected baby flying into the air as her body was shredded. After the attack was done, a large Kurama figure appeared and caught the four of them in its clawed paw. Kiba and Akamaru slid down the figure's arm and joined Naruto inside the figure. Down below, Neji wasted no time in joining them as well. Once the three of them were inside, Naruto used his chakra to disintegrate the rest of the deteriorating chakra ball that held the baby and freed it. Naruto used his chakra to extend his own arm and brought the still-sleeping baby towards him.
"How dare you take Kawaki back! He's mine! You have no right to touch him!" she screamed as she struggled in Naruto's grip.
"I don't think you're in a position to be giving orders. We're taking the baby and you with us. It's over. You lost," glared Naruto.
"Don't underestimate me, fool. We're just getting started," she smirked before activating her powers.
Suddenly, the ground started to shake around them. The three boys and the Kurama figure fell to their knees. The woman used this opportunity to activate her Third Eye which caused a dark purple aura to surround her. After her power surge, the woman dove toward them at full force. Naruto commanded the Kurama figure to put its arms up in defense. The pressure of her power caused Naruto to add more of his power to fend her off. They clashed for a few moments before Naruto was finally able to gain the upper hand. Because he only had one hand to use, since his other arm held the baby, he used as much force as he could to swing her around before throwing her. However, she was quick on her feet. She did a backflip to stop herself from going too far. Next, she summoned several dark balls at her fingertips and shot them toward the group of boys. Naruto countered with a large Demon Ball he shot out of Kurama's mouth.
As his Demon Ball was aimed toward her, the female wolf commanded her gravity balls to move around the larger ball and attack them directly. Thinking quickly, Naruto opened his mouth, causing the figure to do the same, and swallowed the gravity balls. This caused a disturbance within the figure and his combined chakra with Kurama, but it restabilized soon enough.
"That was smart, kit," said Kurama with a sarcastic eye roll.
Hey! It was the best I could do on short notice!
"Well, you better think of something else fast because we have another problem,"
Just as Kurama said, everyone looked up and saw not only had she deflected Naruto's Demon Ball away, but she summoned twice the amount of her gravity balls. This time, Naruto tried swatting at them, but something was different. When he contacted them, it caused a strain on his body, and suddenly he felt heavier. His hand and his body slumped to the ground, causing the figure to do the same. Luckily, the majority of her attack missed them. But for the last few that were aimed at them, Naruto opened his mouth again and swallowed the rest of them, which caused the disruption within his chakra again. But somehow, he was able to maintain his form.
"Stop doing that, idiot! You're literally killing me!" roared Kurama.
Sorry, but I don't know what else to do.
"Damnit Neji, I thought you took care of her chakra paths?" asked Kiba.
"I thought I did too. There's no way she should be able to use any jutsus,"
"Well, I don't know about you guys, but I think that Third Eye on her forehead has a lot to do with it," pointed out Naruto. "Either way, we need to do something about it or else we could be in serious trouble,"
"I'm open to suggestions," said Neji.
"Kit, I think it's time for you to use that technique I taught you,"
But I'm not ready. I haven't even tried it out on anyone before. What if it doesn't work?
I trust in your ability. If you do it exactly as I taught you, you should be fine. Now hurry, before she attacks again,"
As Kurama's voice faded back into his head, Naruto tried to shake his anxieties away before proposing his plan.
"Is that all you weaklings got? Ha! Don't make me laugh," taunted the female wolf.
"I have an idea. It may not work, but it's worth a shot,"
"What is it?"
"When Sasuke and I got our new powers, we combined them and used them to defeat Kaguya. Now I know you guys don't have celestial powers like us, but I think we can still do something on a smaller scale of that. If Neji and you can loan me some of your chakras, then I can try to use them to boost my power,"
"It sounds like a long shot. But, hell, I'll try anything at this point. Alright, blondie, what's your plan?"
"Just hold still. This may hurt a little bit, and this is my first time doing this, but Kurama taught me how to "steal" chakra,"
"Wait what?!"
"Hold on," said Naruto before he added some chakra to his fingertips.
He shoved the baby into Neji's, the more responsible of the two, arms before he thrust his fingers into his teammates' torsos. The boys grunted as they leaned over and felt their chakra being sucked from their bodies. Naruto continued with this method until about half of their chakra was absorbed. The additional chakra flowed through his veins as he watched the chakra figure around them strengthen and stabilize.
"Are you guys alright?"
"Yeah, but next time you do this, remind me to say no," grunted Kiba.
"Alright, you guys. Hand on tight. I'm going to end this quickly,"
Naruto concentrated all of his chakras outward to form mini arms on each finger. By doing this, he created several Elemental Rasenshurikens at each tip. Naruto yelled as he released all the jutsus at once. The woman was overwhelmed by the attacks. She dodged his attacks as if they were nothing, but by the time the next wave came, she was done for. The female wolf, once again, dodged the first few before she was finally hit by several of them at once. She screamed as the Rasenshurikens tore her body to shreds. The boys watched as the attack lasted for about 30 seconds, the longest thirty seconds to count before she finally plummeted to the ground. However, before her body made contact, Naruto reached his arm out and caught her. Slowly and carefully, he lowered her body to the ground before he dismissed his Kurama Chakra figure.
"Is she dead?" asked Kiba.
"No. I think I just knocked her out. But we should get her back to the Hidden Leaf before she wakes up,"
"I must say, Naruto, your powers continue to amaze me," said Neji as he adjusted the baby in his arms.
"Gee, thanks. How is the little one?"
"Still sleeping. Man, I wish I could sleep like him. Hey, wait a minute. Do you guys notice something?" Everyone gathered around the child and noticed that he had black cat ears on top and a head full of black and blond hair. By the corner of his eye, was the Roman Number IX (9). But there was something else they noticed, "Doesn't he look a little bit like Sasuke and you, Naruto?"
"Kiba has a point. Why, if I didn't know any better, I'd say he could pass off as your child,"
"What?! No way. Just because he has feline appendages and dark and blond hair, does not mean he could be our child," said Naruto as he looked the baby over before he took him from Neji's arms, "You guys are crazy. One of you grab her, so I can teleport us out of here. The sooner we can get this mission over with, and I can get back to Sasuke, the better,"
And with that, the other two boys shrugged their shoulders before they worked together to throw her over Akamaru's back before Naruto teleported them back to Kakashi's office.
"Oh, you're back. How'd it go?" asked Kakashi.
"Fine. We even brought one of them back for ya," smirked Kiba as he patted the girl's back.
Shikamaru came over to examine her but grimaced when he saw the damage she took.
"This looks like Naruto's handy work. You sure you didn't kill here?"
"Cut it out, Shikamaru. We did what you asked, so can we go now?"
"Hold on a second. Would you guys care to explain your other addition?" questioned Kakashi.
"We found him while we were patrolling. This woman here seemed to be after him, but we're not quite sure why yet," explained Neji.
"Hn, how strange. Naruto, would you please bring him to me?"
The blond did as he was told and handed the still-sleeping baby off to his former sensei. Suddenly, the baby stirred from its sleep and cried. Thinking quickly, Naruto snatched the baby back and rocked it until it fell back asleep. Everyone in the room was amazed by this site but choose not to comment on the action.
"Hn. I assume that he was well protected during your fight," The three boys nodded at Kakashi's question, "Good. Neji and Kiba can stay and finish the report. Naruto, why don't you take the child to see Sakura. I want her to examine him before I decide on what to do with him,"
"What are you thinking of doing with him?" asked Naruto anxiously.
"I'm not sure yet. Part of it will come from Sakura's assessment. Now go. I'll catch up with you later,"
The blond nodded his head before he tightly rewrapped the baby and headed to the hospital. Once he was gone, everyone's faces broke out in smiles and light laughter.
"His paternal instincts are kicking in already. I don't think my old heart can take it. I can't wait to tell my Iruka though,"
"Did anyone else recognize that child looked a little bit like Naruto and Sasuke?" asked Shikamaru.
"I said the same thing. I even said that it could pass off as their kid too," laughed Kiba.
"I would have to agree. When we first found the child, I shared the same thoughts as Kiba. However, I was not as vocal about it,"
"I think it'd be hilarious and ironic if they adopted him,"
"Well, as I've said, it would all depend on what I decide to do with him,"
"Hokage Kakashi, do you think he is a danger to us?"
"I don't know, Shikamaru. Again, I am relying on Sakura's assessment of the child. If he's not, then it'll make his placement a little easier. If he is… well, I don't really want to make that call,"
"Whatever happens, please keep us updated. I did not sense anything when Kiba, Naruto, and I rescued him. However, that does not mean that we could have missed anything,'
"Ya. I might have joked about Naruto and Sasuke adopting the child, but I at least trust and hope that you won't put him through anything before his life starts,"
"Will do. Shikamaru, please call the ANBU and have them take our "guest" to Ibiki. I'm sure he'll have fun with her. You two are dismissed," Shikamaru nodded before he helped the young lady off the ground and did as he was told. Afterward, Neji and Kiba bowed before they turned and left. But before they got too far, Kakashi called out again. "Do you guys have any information on the child?"
"No. We only know that the woman was after him, but we're not sure what. The only thing we know is that the child's name was Kawaki. That's it,"
"Yeah, a pretty boring name if you ask me. Maybe he was going to be some kind of recruitment, but who knows for sure. Maybe she can give y'all more information,"
"I see. Thank you. Have a good night, and tell Hinata I said hello,"
Kakashi watched as everyone left him alone in the room with the unconscious female wolf. It gave him time to rack his brain before the ANBU appeared to take their new guest away.
At the hospital, Sakura finally got a moment to sit down with the dinner that Lee brought her. Since Tsunade went away, she barely had time to spend with the cheetah, but he understood. She only hoped that the Slug Queen would return soon so that they could get some much-needed "alone" time. Unfortunately, much like the rest of the day, she was interrupted again when her office door opened.
"Oh, Naruto, back from your mission already?"
"What do you mean already? I've been gone for like a week,"
"Has it been a week already? I must have really been working too hard," she giggled as she reached for her cup of noodles and took a bite, "So, what are you doing here?"
"Kakashi-sensei wanted me to bring him by for you to look at,"
Sakura was confused for a moment before she realized that Naruto was holding a baby in his arms. Carefully, she put her food back down on her desk before approaching them to get a better look at the child. Naruto felt her barely contain her excitement.
"And where did you find this handsome man? Sasuke-kun couldn't have given birth yet,"
"Why does everyone keep saying that he looks like Sasuke and me. No, Neji, Kiba, and I found him on the mission we were just on. Kakashi-sensei sent us to look for those hooded figure guys that you, Lee, Sasuke, and I fought to interrogate them. We ended up running into this female wolf, but she was after this baby. We don't know anything about either of them. Only that she could use gravity powers, and his name is Kawaki,"
"Kawaki huh? That's a dull name for a baby. Where were his parents? Were they found dead?"
Naruto shook his head. "I don't know. Everything that I just told you was all that I know. Can you examine him? Kakashi-sensei wants to make sure he's not going to be a danger to us,"
"A danger? A baby? Tsk. I swear that old man is becoming too overly suspicious in his old age. But come on, I'll see if we have a room available. By the way, you missed Sasuke-kun's gender reveal appointment. The sneaky feline tried his best to get out of every appointment until I finally dragged his ass in here,"
"Don't remind me. Although I'm shocked that he actually tried my idea," smirked Naruto.
"How did I know that you were behind it,"
For the next hour or so, Sakura tried to examine the child, but every time he was out of Naruto's hands, he cried. They tried feeding, changing, burping, and other methods to soothe the crying infant. And when nothing worked, they needed Naruto's help. Only when he was either in the blond's presence or being held by the older fox, did the child return to his slumber. Although it made things a little easier, it puzzled the pink-haired bunny. However, that was a mystery for another time. For now, it was time for her basic assessment.
"How is he, Sakura-chan?"
"Well, we're still waiting on a few more tests, but overall, he seems like a healthy, normal baby. I can't see any reason why Kakashi-sensei said would think he'd be a danger to us. But then again, that's why he's Hokage and I'm not,"
"Hn. I see. Well, I hope that he can at least clue us in later,"
"Yeah me too," she sighed as she leaned against a nearby wall.
"Lady Sakura? Sasuke Uchiha is here to see his Naruto Uzumaki," said a random nurse.
"Thank you," she smiled before she turned to Naruto. "I'll go get Sasuke-kun and bring him here. Please wait a moment,"
Naruto nodded as he watched her leave out of the room. Once she was gone, he turned his attention to the sleeping infant in his arms. After the tests were completed, and a bottle was given, Naruto rocked him back to sleep. Suddenly, thoughts of Kawaki joining their growing family filled his head. Naruto was unsure if this was his excitement from Sasuke's pregnancy or some weird paternal instinct. Either way, Naruto felt that having this child with him and his mate was the right decision. Speaking of which, a smile spread across his face as he felt his mate's chakra signature, his strawberry scent, and a hint of Naruto's scent mixed near the door. Outside, Sasuke and Sakura talked for a moment before the bunny disappeared.
The raven-haired feline entered the room and returned Naruto's smile as he closed the door. However, the door slightly creaked and caused the blond to hush his mate before he pointed to the infant in his arms. Sasuke understood, despite his confusion, and quietly closed the door before he walked over and sat next to his mate.
"What's that?"
"A baby,"
"I know that, dobe. I meant why do you have it?"
"Then you should have asked that then," said Naruto playfully, earning a glare from his irritated mate, "I found him during my mission. The lady we brought in was after him. His name is Kawaki,"
"Hn. But that still doesn't explain why you have him,"
"Mostly because no one else will let him near or hold him. I had to do it almost the entire time Sakura-chan examined him,"
"I see. I also noticed that you're holding him wrong. Give him here,"
"Wait Sasuke, don't~," said Naruto as he tried to stop him.
But when Sasuke held him, the baby didn't stir. The raven feline adjusted the infant in his arms, and gently rocked him as he supported his head.
"You have to make sure you support his head. Babies are not strong enough to hold their heavy heads up, that's why we have to do it,"
"That's incredible, babe. I wonder why he's taken to you?"
"I don't know, but he seems strong. Maybe he recognizes our strength," said Sasuke before he sniffed the baby's neck and held him closer, "He smells like the earth and the Land of Iron. I'm assuming that's where you found them?" Naruto nodded. "Hn. I wonder why they're attacking that place?"
"We're not sure. My guess is because it's neutral ground, maybe whatever organization the woman we fought today, might have thought they could conduct business there without being noticed. But it's just my theory,"
"What does Kakashi and Shikamaru say?"
"They're not sure yet. They're waiting to hear back from Ibiki's interrogation,"
"Hn."
The room was quiet for a moment as Naruto watched Sasuke hold and care for the child like his own. It brought a brighter smile to his face as he felt the decision was right.
When Sasuke noticed that Naruto was staring at him, it made him uncomfortable.
"You're weirding me out. Stop staring at me like that,"
"I can't help it. You look so natural holding our child while pregnant. Makes me want to put more into you after these two are born," he said with an arm around Sasuke's shoulders and his hand on the round belly.
"First, this isn't our child. Second, you're creepy,"
Naruto laughed it off but didn't move away.
"Oh yeah! I know I missed your gender reveal appointment; I'm still pissed by the way. But what are we having? I gotta know,"
Sasuke smirked as he thought back to his appointment with Sakura and Hinata. Carefully, he adjusted the child so that he rested on his shoulder and turned towards his alpha.
"Well…"
