Chapter 1 - Unorthodox Orientation
March 1203
It was a blooming spring day in Trista. The Lino flowers were blooming, the children were playing in the park, and the newly admitted students of Thors Military Academy were making their way to the school grounds for their first day of school.
Outside the train station stood a short girl with brown hair standing in awe of Trista's beautiful scenery. Her name was Towa Herschel, and she was still nervous about her first day at Thors.
Standing alone in her green commoner uniform, Towa watched as the other students got into small groups around the plaza. There was still some time before the entrance ceremony started, so everyone had started grouping up by their classes to pass the time. Seeing as she looked out of place in front of the train station by herself, Towa decided to go search for her own class.
"Alright Herschel, don't be so nervous. I'm sure everyone is also nervous about their first day here." Towa thought to herself as she tried to calm herself down while looking for her class.
Unfortunately for her, that was easier said than done. Due to her short stature, all of her schoolmates towered over her. Which made it difficult for her to see which class was which.
"Class IV, Class IV, Class IV, Class IV…" Towa muttered to herself as she looked for her class.
All Towa had to go off of was her schoolmates' uniform coats. Those who belonged to noble families wore white, while those from commoner families, like herself, wore green coats.
Towa quickly lost track of where she was going and accidentally walked into one of her schoolmates, knocking them down to the ground.
"I-I'm so s-sorry, I-I was just looking for my c-class and-" Towa started apologizing before noticing that the student was wearing a white coat.
Towa immediately started to panic. She had heard all the rumors about what happens to commoner students that mess with noble students. Being seen as rude was the least of her worries, now that she had to worry about getting kicked out of Thors for knocking over a student from a noble family.
"Don't worry, it's fine. Say, aren't you a cutie." the noble student replied as she got up.
"Uh…" Towa replied as took a few steps back. Something about the purple-haired girl in front of her was raising alarm bells in her head.
"Rogner, can't you see that you're scaring the poor girl? Here, why don't I walk you to your class m'lady?" another purple-haired student commented before offering his hand to Towa.
Before Towa could make a run for it, one of the noble students' maids put one of her hands on Towa's shoulder.
"That will not be necessary, Master Vincent. May I see your student notebook?" the purple-haired maid asked as she looked down at Towa.
"Good job Herschel. Getting expelled on your first day." Towa thought to herself as she handed the maid her student notebook.
"Let's see, Towa Herschel of Class IV… They should be meeting up outside by the bookstore." the maid informed Towa as she pointed her towards Keynes' Bookstore.
"I-I see, thank you very much, ma'am!" Towa nervously replied before taking back her student notebook and walking away.
Towa awkwardly joined up with Class IV, being the last member to arrive.
"H-Hi everyone, my name is Towa. I'm so sorry for being late." Towa nervously introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you Towa. My name is Hibelle." a tall brunette boy with glasses greeted.
"Name's Loggins." another tall brunette boy but with spiky hair replied.
"My name is Emily. Don't worry, you're not late." a red-haired girl informed Towa.
"Yeah, the train dropped us all off earlier than scheduled. We all just decided to group up while we waited." Hibelle explained.
"We figured it'd be a good idea to introduce ourselves now instead of in class." Loggins added on.
"I see, well that's a relief." Towa replied.
"So, are you guys ready for our first year at Thors?" Emily asked.
"You bet! I can't wait to join the Fencing Club. Man, looking around I see so many potential sparring partners." Loggins answered as he looked around for any swordsmen.
"Oh, that's right, the clubs. Hope I have what it takes to be able to join the Lacrosse Club." Emily responded.
"I do look forward to joining the school's Wind Orchestra." Hibelle commented.
"What about you, Towa? What club do you plan to join?" Emily asked before turning to Towa.
Towa hadn't put much thought into what she was going to do outside of her classes. Her goal had always been to put all of her energy into her schoolwork so she could graduate with high marks. Things like school clubs and relationships seemed counterproductive to what she wanted to achieve, so she never put much thought into it.
"I'm not sure at the moment. I plan to look around and see what I feel is a good match for me later on though." Towa lied. In truth, she had no intention to join any club.
"I see, best of luck with the club search then!" Emily replied.
The new students continued talking in the plaza, before the school's bells started ringing, letting them all know that the entrance ceremony would be starting soon.
"Well, guess that's my queue to leave." a white-haired boy wearing a bandana commented as he exited the Radio Station.
"Look at you being a model student, Crow. And here I thought you'd start slacking off on your first day." a woman with sandstone-colored hair joked as she joined Crow outside.
"Hey now Misty, I'm here to lay low while we wait to start our plans. Do you have any idea how much attention it would bring to myself if I ditched school on my first day?" Crow explained.
"Well then, you should probably hurry up. Looks like most of your schoolmates are already at the school grounds. Don't want to be late on your first day." Misty replied.
Crow began running towards the plaza when suddenly he heard Misty calling him.
"Crow, you forgot these!" Misty yelled before throwing Crow his twin guns.
"Thanks! They may not be my usual dual sabre, but they're much easier to secretly carry around!" Crow yelled back before putting away his twin guns inside his green coat. Thors did offer to let students carry their weapons around the school grounds, but Crow had been too lazy to submit an application.
With that, Crow waved at Misty before running off to the school grounds.
Towa sat quietly in her seat as Principal Vandyck gave his speech to welcome all the new first-years.
Admittedly, it was difficult for Towa to listen to Principal Vandyck's speech when the student sitting next to her was tinkering with his school-issued ARCUS. He was a large brunette boy wearing a green coat with a backwards brown cap and goggles.
After a few minutes, Principal Vandyck finished his speech and ordered all the first-years to go to their homerooms. Before Towa could get up from her seat however, Principal Vandyck had one more message.
"The following four students are to remain seated. Angelica Rogner of Class I, George Nome of Class III, Towa Herschel of Class IV, and Crow Armbrust of Class V. Everyone else, you are free to go." Vandyck ordered.
Towa watched as some of her schoolmates stared at her and the other three students that were ordered to stay as they left the Auditorium.
"Geez, who reported me already?" Angelica thought to herself as she watched all the female students she flirted with earlier at the plaza walk away.
"This school-issued ARCUS must've notified the school's server that I was trying to hack it." George thought to himself as he examined his ARCUS.
"That maid probably reported me. Surely, I could talk to Principal Vandyck and explain to him what really happened. Oh who am I kidding, that noble girl's family is probably threatening to sue the school unless they expel me." Towa thought to herself before realizing that the same noble girl she knocked over earlier was one of the other students that were ordered to stay.
"Shit. Someone must've seen Vita giving me my twin guns earlier. That small brunette girl over there might make a good hostage so I can negotiate my escape." Crow thought to himself as he got ready to pull out one of his twin guns.
"Don't worry you four, none of you are in trouble. In fact, quite the opposite." Vandyck informed them once all of the instructors left to introduce themselves to their homerooms.
"Wait, what?" all four students bluntly asked at the same time.
"Sorry to worry you four, but it's a secret assignment. Please make your way to the old schoolhouse, the person waiting inside will explain everything to you four." Vandyck informed them.
"This better not take long." Towa said to herself as she stood up from her chair and followed the other three students outside.
The four students made their way to the old schoolhouse quietly. No one was sure what was going on, so they didn't speak a word.
"S-Should we share our names while we walk to the old schoolhouse?" Towa nervously asked.
"Go right ahead." Angelica replied.
"S-Seeing as it was my idea, I'll go first. My name is Towa Herschel of Class IV, I'm from Heimdallr." Towa introduced herself.
"My name is Angelica Rogner, I'm in Class I, and I'm from Roer. My family governs the Nortia Province." Angelica responded.
"I'm George Nome, currently in Class III. Oh, I'm also from Roer." George replied.
"Name's Crow Armbrust. I'm in Class V." Crow bluntly commented.
"Where are you from?" George asked.
"None of your business." Crow rudely replied.
"A-Anyway, it's nice to meet all of you. I'm sure we'll have a great first year here at Thors after we meet with the person waiting for us at the old schoolhouse." Towa responded in an attempt to calm the situation down.
The four students quickly returned to being silent as they continued walking to the old schoolhouse.
"Our tuition money is going towards this? Place looks like it hasn't been cleaned since before the Orbal Revolution." Angelica commented as looked around the old schoolhouse.
"Do you really think this place was made before the Orbal Revolution?" George asked as he looked around for any potential ancient technology.
"Pretty sure she didn't mean it literally, dude." Crow replied. He felt a familiar presence coming from deep below the old schoolhouse, but decided not to inform the others.
"Guys, pretty sure the person waiting for us is in this room over here." Towa noted before opening the doors. She just wanted to leave as quickly as she could.
The four students made their way inside the room, only to be met with nothing.
"There's no one here." Towa commented.
"This must be some sort of prank." Angelica concluded.
"Yeah, a pretty stupid one." Crow added on.
Suddenly, all the lights that dimly lit up the old schoolhouse turned off. Leaving the four students surrounded in nothing but pitch blackness.
"W-Who's ever doing this, y-you're not funny!" Towa yelled.
"Don't worry, you can grab onto me if you're scared!" Angelica announced in hopes that Towa would grab on to her.
"T-Thanks, I get easily startled when it's dark." George commented before grabbing onto Angelica, unknowingly foiling her plans.
"Oooh noooo, the dark. I'm sooooo scared." Crow jokingly said as he waited for the lights to turn back on.
Before everyone knew it, the lights were turned back on.
"Phew, it's over." Towa thought to herself.
"Thanks for letting me grab onto you." George said as he let go of Angelica.
"Don't mention it." Angelica bluntly replied.
"So, who's the comedian who turned off the lights?" Crow questioned.
"That would be me. My name is Olivert Reise Arnor, some of you may know me as the Debaucherous Prince. A pleasure to meet you four." Olivert greeted.
"W-Wait, the P-Prince Olivert!? W-What are you doing here!? Towa questioned as the others were left speechless.
"Well, unfortunately, the person I hired to be your advisor won't be able to start working here until May. According to her, finding a good daycare is surprisingly difficult. Seeing as you four are my guinea pigs, no offense, I've decided to welcome you all to Thors myself." Olivert explained.
"Guinea pigs!?" Crow yelled.
"I should probably elaborate. You see, after my adventures in Liberl and seeing the Orbal Shutdown Phenomenon from last month for myself, I decided that it would be best to create a new class here at Thors. One that goes beyond the standard restrictions based on someone's class, and gets to see our Empire with their own two eyes instead of from some outdated textbook. You four all showed high aptitude with your ARCUS according to our records, so you four will be the first Class VII." Olivert revealed.
"Class VII?" Towa questioned.
"It was the best name the board of directors and I were able to come up with. Although, I guess you guys would technically be Proto Class VII. Since this is more of a trial run to see if my idea works." Olivert responded.
"Class VII sounds like a very unfinalized name." George commented.
"Yeah, plus it's kind of dull." Angelica added on.
"Take up your complaints with the board of directors. My proposed name for Class VII was Olivert's Angels, but the board rejected that name, but that's beside the point. Class VII, for your orientation, you are to escape from the old schoolhouse!" Olivert announced.
"That's it? The front door is outside this room." Towa pointed out.
Before Class VII knew it, Olivert took a few steps back and pressed a button on the wall behind him. Before they knew it, the floor below them disappeared, causing them to fall into the dark void down below.
"Best of luck!" Olivert yelled as Class VII screamed in horror as they fell deeper into the old schoolhouse.
Everyone yelled for their lives as they fell into the old schoolhouse's basement.
Crow hit the floor first, falling face first. As he tried to lift himself up from the ground, George fell on top of him. Then Angelica followed suit, and fell on top of both of them. Finally, there was Towa, who fell flat on her face a few feet away from the other three.
"Ow… my head…" Towa said as she slowly got up.
"You poor thing…" Crow sarcastically muttered while he questioned whether or not he had fractured a bone.
Towa quickly helped Angelica, George, and Crow get up before casting healing magic on all of them with her ARCUS.
"Now that's refreshing." George commented.
"Alright everyone, Prince Olivert said that all we have to do is escape. Let's carefully make our way through the underground together." Towa ordered.
"Alright then- Hey wait, where's Crow?" George questioned.
Everyone quickly turned around and noticed that Crow was nowhere to be seen, along with the door leading to the underground proper had been left open.
"Looks like we're already down a member. C'mon, follow me." Angelica ordered before running off into the underground.
"H-Hey wait, I said we should go carefully! That means no running!" Towa yelled as she ran behind Angelica.
"I don't remember anyone making you our leader!" Angelica pointed out before picking up the pace.
"I think it would be best if we stick together as a team!" George yelled as he followed Angelica and Towa deeper into the underground.
After a few minutes of running around the underground, Angelica finally stopped.
"A-About time… you listened to me…" Towa commented as she tried to catch her breath.
"Be quiet! There's a monster around the corner." Angelica whispered.
"Do any of us even have any weapons?" George asked.
"I don't need any weapons. I usually use my gauntlets for fighting, but my bare fists should be enough for that weakling nearby." Angelica answered.
"I have no physical combat experience. I did however pass my Military Tactics class back in Sunday School with flying colors." Towa replied.
"What about arts? My ARCUS has a few offensive earth quarts installed." George questioned.
"My ARCUS only has defensive water quarts installed." Towa answered.
"Looks like our ARCUS were equipped with different quarts. Mine only has defensive space quarts installed." Angelica commented.
"Okay then, I think I have an idea." Towa informed them.
"My idea was to attack the monster until it dies, so go right ahead." Angelica replied.
After Towa finished explaining her plan to Angelica and George, the three of them got into formation. Angelica stood at the very front and center, George stood directly behind her, and Towa stood in the corner at the very back. Now all they had to do was approach the monster.
"Hey ugly, it's fists o'clock!" Angelica yelled as she ran towards the monster and punched it in the face.
It was Flying Feline, so Towa was more than impressed that Angelica was able to land a critical hit.
The Flying Feline quickly tried to counter Angelica, but she jumped out of the way. Before it could react, George used his ARCUS and hit the Flying Feline with an earth spell. Then Angelica jumped back in and laid the finishing blow to the Flying Feline, killing it instantly.
"Good work everyone!" Towa announced before using her ARCUS to cast a healing spell on Angelica and George.
"Good work, Towa." George complimented.
"Yeah, I agree. As the leader of Class VII, I name you our group strategist." Angelica announced.
"Since when were you our leader!?" Towa questioned.
"If we want to be a functional team, then we need a leader." Angelica answered.
"Wait, are you making yourself the leader because you're the only noble student in the group?" George asked.
"What? No, screw that. I'm the leader because I'm clearly the fastest amongst us." Angelica explained before she started walking away to explore more of the underground.
"What type of credential is that!?" Towa yelled as she and George walked behind Angelica.
"Haven't you ever been to Sunday School? Everyone knows that the fastest kids are the ones destined for leadership." Angelica elaborated.
"Personally, I feel we should wait and vote for who we collectively think should be our leader." Towa responded.
"That would be great, if all of us were here to vote." George commented.
Even after all this time in the underground, they still hadn't figured out where Crow was.
After a few more hours exploring the underground, Towa, Angelica, and George finally made it to the end of the underground.
"For all we know Crow already found the exit and left without us." Angelica complained.
"I don't know, he seems like the type of guy who always comes through for his group." George replied.
"Yeah, I'm sure he's worried about us right now." Towa added on.
Just then, Towa noticed something shiny on the ground a few feet ahead of them. Without much thought, Towa ran up to the shiny object on the ground. Unaware of the danger hidden in the shadows nearby.
"What the? It's just a 50 mira coin." Towa said to herself as she picked up the coin.
"You idiot! Why did you take the bait!?" Crow yelled as he jumped out from behind a pillar and pointed his twin guns in Towa's direction.
"W-What's going on!?" Towa yelled back before panicking and falling to the ground.
Before Towa could stand up however, a monster jumped out of the nearby shadows and was getting ready to attack Towa.
"Get down!" Crow yelled before pulling his twin guns' triggers.
Instinctively, Towa dunked to protect herself from the Coin Beetle in front of her. Completely forgetting about the fact that Crow had his twin guns pointed in her direction.
"Towa!" Angelica and George yelled together as they saw Towa duck just in time to avoid Crow's orbal bullets.
Crow watched as his orbal bullets both landed direct hits on the Coin Beetle, killing it instantly.
"Alright, we did it team!" Crow cheerfully announced as he approached the others. Acting as if he hadn't ditched them hours earlier.
Crow watched as Towa stood back up, and along with Angelica and George, started making their way towards him. Crow opened up his arms, ready for a group hug. Leaving himself open, which Towa took advantage of, and punched him in the gut.
"You stupid jerk! You almost shot me!" Towa yelled as she punched Crow in the gut again. She had intended to punch him in the face, but Crow was too tall, so she punched him in the gut instead.
It would've been painful for Crow, but Towa's punches were comically light. He'd felt pillows hit him with more force than her.
"What's the big idea? Prince Olivert said that we're a team." George questioned.
"Your excuse better not be that you're some loner who doesn't play well with others." Angelica added on.
"Don't worry, I have plenty of experience working in a group." Crow replied.
"So how come you ditched us?" Towa questioned.
"Well, I figured it would be a good idea if we split up. Y'know, to cover more ground." Crow explained.
In truth, he was lying through his teeth. Crow had decided to explore the old schoolhouse by himself, so he could see if he could get closer to the familiar presence he had felt earlier. Unfortunately, it was even deeper underground. Seeing as he had no way to go deeper into the underground, he concluded that whatever was down there wasn't meant for him.
"I don't buy it." Angelica responded.
"Yeah, if you wanted us to split up we could've separated into two small groups of two." George suggested.
"Well you see, I have my twin guns. So I can protect myself. You guys don't have any weapons besides your ARCUS, so I figured you three were better off exploring as the bigger group." Crow replied.
"Wait a minute, you aren't allowed to carry weapons around the school grounds!" Towa yelled as she pointed at Crow's twin guns.
"Oh, these things? I, uh, submitted an application to carry them around with me at all times." Crow lied before putting away his twin guns.
"That's funny. I also submitted an application to be able to carry my gauntlets around the school grounds. The thing is, we don't get any word back from the school until next week." Angelica pointed out.
"W-Wait, you snuck those in illegally!?" Towa questioned.
"Y-You see, t-the thing is-" Crow tried to say before George interrupted them.
"Uh guys, is it me or is that statue moving?" George asked as pointed towards a nearby gargoyle statue.
Class VII watched as the gargoyle statue came to life and lunged at them. Luckily, they were all able to dodge in time.
"We need a plan!" Angelica yelled.
"Distract it so I can see what it can do!" Towa ordered.
"Fine by me!" Crow responded before pulling back out his twin guns.
Angelica, Crow, and George were soon able to distract the gargoyle for long enough that Towa was able to come up with a strategy against it.
"Angelica and George, get into the same formation as last time! Crow, stand beside George and follow their lead!" Towa instructed.
"Roger!" Angelica, Crow, and George responded together.
Angelica landed a few critical hits on the gargoyle before jumping away. Crow showed off his speedy trigger fingers as his orbal bullets rained down on the gargoyle, causing it to fall to the ground. George then casted an earth spell that created a small earthquake underneath the gargoyle.
"Okay, they lost their balance. Angelica, Crow, one of you lay the finishing blow!" Towa yelled.
"I've got this!" Angelica and Crow responded at the same time before using their S-Crafts on the gargoyle.
"Cross Raven!" Crow yelled as he shot a barrage of orbal bullets at the gargoyle, and with a snap of his fingers, all of his orbal bullets exploded around the gargoyle.
"Dragon Kick!" Angelica yelled before jumping into the air and stomping on the remains of the gargoyle on the way back down.
With that, it seemed like the gargoyle was taken care of.
"We did it!" Towa announced before using her ARCUS to cast a healing spell on all of them.
"Phew, we really managed to take that thing down." George commented as he looked at what little was left of the gargoyle.
"You're welcome. Cross Raven always gets the job done." Crow replied
"Excuse me? My Dragon Kick is what took the gargoyle down!" Angelica responded.
"Guys, save the fighting for when we're outside!" Towa yelled.
Suddenly Class VII fell to the ground as the ground beneath them started to shake.
"What's going on!?" Angelica questioned.
Class VII then watched in horror as the gargoyle stood back up.
"Looks like it's ready for a second round. But I don't think I have the energy to do Cross Raven again so soon." Crow commented.
"I hate to say it, but I don't think I can pull off another Dragon Kick so soon either." Angelica admitted.
"Pretty sure my ARCUS is close to running out of battery." George revealed.
Towa watched as her teammates were ready to throw in the towel. She wanted to join them, but then she remembered what Olivert had told them.
"We can't give up guys! We're more than just guinea pigs! We can show Prince Olivert and the board of directors that we shouldn't be taken lightly! He said that he wants Class VII to be a class that goes beyond the restrictions the other classes have. Let's show them that we really can work together!" Towa yelled as stood back up in front of the rest of Class VII.
"How do you suppose we do that? We're all already exhausted, even you." Angelica questioned before standing back up.
"Let me ask you guys, why were we selected to be members of Class VII?" Towa responded.
"Because we all had high aptitude with the ARCUS?" Crow answered as he stood up.
"Exactly! George, your ARCUS should have enough battery for one more spell right?" Towa asked.
"Correct, it can only do one more spell before the battery dies." George replied as got back on his feet.
"That's all we need. George, you said your ARCUS was equipped with a few offensive earth quartz right? How many exactly do you have?" Towa responded.
"I only have four." George answered.
"Perfect! George, give us one offensive earth quartz each!" Towa ordered.
George did as he was told, and handed each of them one offensive earth quartz.
"Now what?" Angelica asked as she equipped the quartz that George had given her.
"Simple, look at the wall behind the gargoyle. There's a pillar there that looks just about ready to fall over. If we all use the same offensive earth art at the same time then it should cause the pillar to fall over and crush the gargoyle." Towa explained.
"I see what you mean." George replied.
"Yeah, sounds like a plan." Crow added on.
"Just tell us when to cast the spell." Angelica commented.
Class VII quickly got into formation. Unlike before, they all stood together side by side.
"Alright everyone, get ready! Three… Two… One… Now!" Towa yelled before casting the earth spell.
Class VII stood firmly as the ground beneath them shook. As they did, four light blue circles appeared beneath them, with a light blue line connecting them to each other. Thanks to that, they all felt the same boost in power. This must've been why they were chosen for their high ARCUS aptitudes.
Thinking it outsmarted them, the gargoyle began to fly so it could avoid the small earthquake Class VII created below it, unaware of their true goal.
After a solid minute, the pillar finally fell over and crushed the gargoyle. Killing it instantly as it turned back to stone and crumbled into small pieces.
"W-We did it!" Towa yelled before falling to the ground.
Class VII was exhausted, they had all just spent the majority of the day exploring the underground. So Angelica, Crow, and George joined Towa on the ground to rest for a few minutes.
At this point, they earned it.
By the time Class VII exited the old schoolhouse the sun had already started to set.
"We're finally out!" Angelica announced as Class VII walked back to the school grounds.
"I see you've all survived. Congratulations Class VII. I was ready to send in a search party to find you." Olivert greeted. He had been sitting outside on one of the benches behind the Main Building for a few hours waiting for Class VII to finish their orientation.
"You were?" George asked.
"Prince Olivert is only joking, of course. He had more than enough faith in you four that you'd be able to complete your orientation by yourselves." a tall brunette man in a soldier uniform who was standing behind Olivert revealed.
"Mueller, I've told you not to ruin my jokes." Olivert complained.
"My apologies." Mueller replied.
"So we passed, right? Now what?" Angelica asked.
"Now what? That's for you to decide." Olivert replied.
"Us to decide?" Towa questioned.
"You four were selected to be part of Class VII, well Proto Class VII, by the board of directors and I. However, that does not mean that you'll be forced to participate in my experiment. You four are free to reject my offer, I've already written letters to your instructors explaining why you were all absent today. Don't worry, you'll still be in your original classes and clubs. All that will change is that you'll participate in four Field Studies so we can test if students can handle being outside of the school grounds." Olivert informed them.
Class VII looked at each other, no one was sure who was going to answer first.
Towa carefully thought about what was going on. From what she understood, being in Class VII would definitely cause her to miss out on school days and homework assignments. Which already sounded like a deal-breaker to her. But, she couldn't deny that she was curious. She rarely traveled, so being able to travel and learn about her surroundings sounded interesting. Despite her initial judgment, Towa knew what she needed to do. This was her chance to be a part of something bigger than herself.
"I, Towa Herschel of Class IV, agree to partake in this trial run for Class VII." Towa announced before taking a step forward.
Angelica and George looked at Towa, now knowing what they had to do.
"Angelica Rogner of Class I, I'd also like to be part of the trial run for Class VII." Angelica commented before taking a step forward.
"George Nome of Class III, I wish to continue to participate in the trial run for Class VII." George responded before taking a step forward.
Crow weighed his options carefully. He could reject the offer and continue to lay low, but he knew that he would look suspicious if he rejected Olivert's offer after the rest of the group accepted.
"Crow Armbrust of Class V, reporting for duty." Crow announced before taking a step forward.
Olivert looked at the four students in front of him with pride. While not the full class he had planned, they still represented the same ideals he had intended. While he's the one who had the idea, they would be the ones who will plant the seeds for the future generations of Thors.
Just like that, the legend of Class VII was born.
Author's Note
I told you guys that I was interested in expanding Proto Class VII's first year at Thors.
The Class VII trial run is such a fascinating idea that just gets glossed over in the main arc. With this fic I hope to fill in the blanks of how things went down for these four during their first year at Thors.
Special thanks to CrowgoesCaw for beta reading this for me and discussing ideas for later chapters.
I hope you all enjoyed this introductory chapter! Feel free to comment your thoughts and questions below!
